Jace by N. Boeyer is the first instalment in Jace and Tyler’s trilogy, and I was absolutely hooked from page one.
Tyler is the golden boy of Summerset Shore University. Star quarterback, gentle soul, NFL‑bound, and living the life everyone expects of him. Meanwhile, Jace crashes onto campus like a comet: the enigmatic Dutch new kid with a voice that turns heads and a stage presence that leaves people breathless. He’s all charm and flirtation on the outside, but underneath he’s searching for something he’s never truly had, a place to belong.
Their dynamic is irresistible. Tyler initially brushes off Jace’s flirty energy as “just Jace,” but the more time they spend together, the more that easy banter starts to feel like something deeper. Watching Tyler’s bi‑awakening unfold, slow, tender, and beautifully messy, was one of my favourite parts of the book.
QAnd when they finally come together? Perfection. The chemistry is explosive, the spice is delicious without overshadowing the emotional beats, and their connection feels so genuine and swoony. You can feel how much they care for each other.
The side characters add so much warmth and chaos in the best way, one incredibly supportive family, one… less so. I’m especially curious to see how things develop with Jace’s dad in book two. And yes, the ducks absolutely deserve their own shout‑out.
While the story is mostly joyful and low‑angst, it does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, dropping us right into a pretty life‑changing moment for them. I closed the book and immediately reached for part two.
