There are two things I can't quite get enough of this holiday white peppermint mochas and my assistant, Tessa Risen.

She's half my age and touching even an inch of her flawless skin would land me on the naughty list for good. But after an office mishap ends with her face in my lap, I propose a bet. If the Devils win their next hockey game, she agrees to be my date to a Christmas charity dinner, and if they lose, I'll give her anything she wants. I just hope it's me.

Because the only thing I want to unwrap this Christmas is her. And I'll stop at nothing to win her heart.

Even if I have to fight dirty.

Jingle Devil is a laugh out loud, pucking steamy, office sports romance with an age gap and a little holiday bet. This book is a standalone novella with no cheating, cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

I’m in my metawhorephisis here dude and don’t you dare judge me. Hahaha no bs get this shid. I’m on the phone with my friend reading her fav Xmas novella. We talk practically all day as you do and she goes silent so there I am reading this book and on ONE line I let out this strange breathy sound somewhere between an eep and a moan right. She goes wtf was that 😂😂😂 I proceed to keel over and hide like the scaredy bish I am. I got caught swooning yes my fkn pp tingled you assess ugh. The sheer embarrassment of being turned on by a book over the phone? Fooking priceless mate

Sometimes those sweet lines hit you right in your smash box and next thing you know you need dick and you need it now. JG wentworth said it best. Do yourself a solid this Xmas and read some smut filled books. Empty out your significant other’s custard cannon this holiday season fill your special someone with all the joy you get from reading. Come play with my new book bf with his magical man meat and orgasms. 🤤

Tessa is assistant to the coach (hockey but the dong is def the focal point) who basically worships the ground she walks on and growls at anyone trying to get at her goodies. One fateful day home slice face plants her grill all up in his lap and of course he pops a boner. Aye carumba it’s a big one. Not me going yessss destroy her poonani!

What is it about a silver fox dude? I go all dopey like Jason Momoa in that one interview going awww. It is ridiculous

I needed some holiday smut and this novella gave what it needed to give 🎄⛄️ 🍆

*A star was taken off for the use of “Baby Girl.” He literally asks “are you cold baby girl?” and I almost dry heaved. It would’ve been fine had he been joking but he was dead serious 😭🙃😩🥴

This novella is hands down my top novella ever.

I absolutely loved every single moment reading about Coach Mick and his assistant Tessa.

Considering it’s short length, it packs such a punch, with all manner of deliciousness alongside the laughs you expect to get when reading a Melissa Ivers novel.

Coach is a bossy, silver fox with a mouth made for sin and the right amount of possessiveness. Poor Tessa never stood a chance working with all that every day!

This is the perfect quick, spicy, festive read that will leave you feeling satisfied in the best possible way. Half of me wants to see more from Coach and Tessa, but the other half of me feels like this is just such a perfect novella, and who am I to argue with perfection?!

Mick is right, he's not a "real man" because he drinks the ultra-girly white peppermint mochas. Insert eyeroll here. That crap was on the FIRST PAGE!! I would have been more inclined to forget about that if the rest of the novella was good. You can see from my rating what ended up happening.

This is just what you need for the holiday season! A Nashville Devils Christmas Steamy novella! I loved this little short and spicy story of Tessa and Mick! This has just enough holiday spice and all resulting in a happy ending! I love that Mick finally snapped out of it and made a move for both their sakes!

This gets you right back in the mood for the Devils and I can’t wait for Gordon in Bossy Devil!

Cute novella to wrap up the holiday season. I really enjoyed this book but I honestly was hoping for more spice and smut. But overall still a great addition to the Nashville Devils.

⭐️3. I think in order to enjoy this fully, I would have had to read the series this novella is connected to. So, this book just didn't do it for me.

Spice - 🌶🌶🌶🌶

Trope - age gap, boss × assistant, head coach MMC, workplace romance, insta-lust, forbidden, novella, sports romance, steamy, HFN

It was okay, although I wouldn't say it was the best I've read in a while.

Mick has always had hot for his young assistant but never acted on it, however, he finds a chance and takes it. Tessa is sweet and charming.

The spice and storyline were good however some things just gave me icks like - him calling her "baby girl" like any other name would've been fine but this, just gave me the creeps (because she was half his age).

Also, the male-phallus adjectives—YUK— use the real word or don't say anything.

It was a short novella, and if these things had been characterised well, I feel it would easily have been a good read.

It had potential, but it was just not executed well.
Overall 2.5/5.

This is my first Melissa Ivers book but it won't be my last. A few little teases on Instagram and I had to give this little hockey, holiday-themed novella a go.

The dedication is more than enough to make you laugh and get you interested, but it was just the start of a truly fun story to get you feeling festive and flirty.

Mick the Nashville Devils coach is the older guy but still in his prime. He falls for his assistant the much younger Tessa Risen. He's never been attracted to younger women before but he can't stop thinking about Tessa.

Tessa started working for the Nashville Devils as the head coach's assistant and she quickly realized all those "boys" she dated before could not compare to Mick Weller. He's older than her though and she's sure he would have no interest in someone like her but she can sure fantasize.

One small accident and some embarrassment, followed by a bet, and these two will get their chance and it will be even better than they imagined.

Great read and so much fun. I hope to get a chance to read more about the Nashville Devils.
.
.
.
Wanting your much younger assistant is a recipe for disaster but the more time spent around her only makes the craving worse. Knowing that a bunch of much younger hockey players could make their move only drives Mick crazy.
'Jealousy had me gripped by the balls and even though I knew she wasn't interested in him, I needed him to know he couldn't have her. Stupid? Maybe. Irrational? Sure. Do I care? No in the slightest.'

While there is plenty of eye candy in the Nashville Devils, Tessa only has eyes for Mick. There is no way a man like him could look at her and want her the way she wants him, but her fantasies are all free and always about him.
'No smooth-faced boy will ever do it for me again. Once you go stubble, nothing else is worth the trouble.'

The day before their last game before Christmas working in the office results in a small mishap which leaves Tessa up close and personal with Mick and while she tries to brush his reaction off it certainly gives her more to dream about.
'I may combust on the spot. Baby girl. Sweet mother of all things sensual. I've never heard a term on endearment be so sexy.'

After the very embarrassing incident in Mick's office, the tension is broken with some banter and a beat. If Mick wins he wants a date and as the winner, he escorts Tessa to a charity event. After everything that happened the day before neither wants the night to end there.
'I didn't tell her I had no intention of letter her go. That she was the best thing since the invention of ice skates.'

Happy Reading

We all know you're already on the naughty list, yet like to be told you're a good girl by a man with a deep voice and a penchant for giving hand necklaces. Am I wrong? Didn't think so. Now turn the page and read your hockey smut. Show me how beautifully you listen.

This message from the author is like music to my ears how can you resist reading Jingle Devil after that! (P.S. mom if you’re reading this then don’t, or do, it’s up to you. Because yes i’m friends with my mom on Goodreads)

Jingle Devil is a short and fast paced read, absolutely perfect right before bed. Now i know that it’s a Christmas Novella and im a little late to the party but i don’t care. It’s super funny, the smut was a 10/10 and i felt like i was actually living the story myself even though it was short lived.

Mick Weller is a smoke show of a hockey coach, who’s absolutely head over heels for his younger assistant Tessa Risen.

“At this point pretty much everything she wears, or does makes me and mini me rise to attention.”
“She’s absolutely stunning.” P.1/4

When i said the smut was a 10/10 i meant it, paired with Christmas, chefs kiss!😘

“The harps would play. Angels would weep and I’d fall to the floor— this time intentionally— with my mouth popped open, ready to give it my all.” P.10

“He tastes like red wine and is just as intoxicating.”
“But he kisses me at a lazy pace, exploring my mouth like he has all the time in the world, sipping at my lips like i’m a rare vintage he wants to savour.” 🍷

Coach Weller gives off the distinguished but sexy vibes, after reading that quote i wished i could’ve been the one to experience that kiss.

Tessa Risen was Coach Mick Weller of the Nashville Devils hockey team's newest personal assistant. Some assistants quit after one day or were let go for wanting to be there to hang out with the players. Then came Tessa, his beautiful Tessa. She was perfect to him. She knows her job, hockey, and she doesn't flirt with the hockey players. She does interact with the players, she is friendly with them, and she laughs at their antics. However, does not flirt with them. Tessa hasn’t even found one of them, that has piqued her interest enough to date.

Although she could say being with an older man, had never aroused her interest before, it did now. However, there was a tickle waiting to be soothed. She knew who she wanted to relieve the unease. You will see, she had become attracted to her 45-year-old boss, the coach. She knows he could never be attracted to anyone like her. She is a 23-year-old who could be his daughter. But the young guys on his team had nothing on him. He was extremely fit for his age.

A small wager over the game gets her a date with Mick. They will be attending a charity dinner for the local children’s hospital. It beats sitting alone in her apartment watching all the Netflix holiday movies. This book goes by fast. You’ll see they worked together long enough to catch feelings, and are lonely enough, too.

hm. not sure when this book came out, but I'd assume this was sometime after the release of the first book in the series, since I can't reconcile this writing with the Melissa Ivers I've come to know and love.

although there's absolutely nothing wrong in this book in that it's a short, smutty romance, it was more show than tell. fair enough for a novella, but what really cemented my dislike was —

1. "chub" "anaconda" and other.........adjectives,
2. "baby girl" as a nickname in an age gap romance, groundbreaking,
3. the male character knowing that leering at his much younger assistant is creepy but consciously continuing to do it,
4. and the excuse for the same being that she's into him as well, so it's all good.

i can't say that all of these are flaws inherent to this book alone, since they are recurring themes across 1000s of books for sure! i think it's the short nature of the book made it a lot more obvious to me, or rather didn't have the intended effect which has led to this takeaway.

i can simply say that unfortunately, this book elicited absolutely zero emotion from me, even during the smutty scenes.

—————

this doesn't change my love for the rest of the series though! so excited to get to Bossy Devil soon, having already read the first four books :D

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭:
🎄Holiday Novella
🏒Hockey Coach
🫦Boss x Assistant
🤩Age-Gap (22yrs)
🌶️Short + Spicy

About the Book:
Mick is the head hockey coach for the Nashville Devils hockey team and has been crushing on his assistant for months. The problem is that Tessa is half his age and also works for him. But when Tessa trips into his lap, he decides to wager a bet with her which leads to her going as his date for a charity dinner. They run into a clingy ex of hers and makes his intentions known and things get heated between them. But, he’s her boss and always said he never wanted to date.

What I Loved:
This book was short + spicy and I was here for all the daddy alpha vibes 😍

I love age-gap romances and combine that with a hot older hockey coach and I was hooked! The only downfall was that I wanted more of their story! 🫶🏻

Mick was the ultimate alpha with a dirty mouth. I melted every time he called her his ‘baby girl’. 🥵

If you’re looking for a short + spicy holiday book, then you NEED to read this! 🔥

If you are in the mood for a spicy, age-gap, sports romance novella, this is the perfect pick! Mick is the coach of the Nashville Devils hockey team and he doesn't date. That's it, the end. But his assistant has gotten him hooked on peppermint mochas, and he can't keep her off his mind, so maybe he isn't quite as set in his ways as he thought.

Tessa never thought she would be attracted to older men, but keeping her thoughts and actions professional around Mick is getting more difficult every day. After losing a bet, Tessa is his date to a Christmas Eve charity event and their lives will never be the same.

This book is fast paced with plenty of spice, but still has the character development I like to see. It's the first I've read in the Nashville Devils series and worked just fine as a standalone. I will definitely be reading the other books though!

I’m on the fence about this novella. While it offers a bit more plot development than others I’ve read, it ultimately leans heavily into smut. The story starts with what can only be described as an absurd opening—the female lead falling into her boss’s erection.

The characters didn’t feel believable as a couple, largely due to the significant age gap, which made their dynamic feel forced. To make matters worse, the main male character, Mick, repeatedly calls the female lead “Baby Girl.” That term is a major turn-off for me.

The spice was decent, but the characters expressing their love for each other after just one date felt over-the-top and unrealistic. Overall, I don’t think I’d recommend this one

full transparency I only picked this one up to fill in the letter J spot for my A to Z challenge and this was a Christmas novella so it worked for me to squeeze in at the end of the year.

the age gap trope isn't something I usually read but this one wasn't for me coz the gap was way too big and it was like stated multiple times too in the book, which made it weird.

it was basically just a smutfest trashy cringe read which I ended up skipping/really skimming, mainly the spicy scenes or when they just internally monologued about being h*rny. Also the mmc said the most lame shiz ever too.

I'm not the intended audience I suppose so take it with a grain of salt but I did not like this one. Basically just cringe and weird.

Age gap tropes are not my favorite. There would be some serious ick in the real world if an almost 50 year old hooked up with a 23 year old. What do these two have in common??? Luckily for this novella, it’s really only mentioned once the actual gap and then only younger/older references.

There isn’t a spark or chemistry between Tessa and Mick. The only time I felt anything was the spicy scene in front of his penthouse window. Damn 🌶️🔥

This book felt like a flop to me but it may be your cup of tea. It failed to meet the criteria for a great short story.
