“One’s destination is never a place, but rather a new way of looking at things.” ~Henry Mill
The conclusion of the Samantha Mallon series.
As a teenager growing up in the backwoods of Pennsylvania, Vicky is barely surviving each day, only making it through by manipulation and avoidance. Her home life is scarier than the nightmares of most of her acquaintances; but there’s no escape. With an alcoholic father, and a mother whose health is deteriorating, Vicky is forced into running the household, and caring for her younger sister, Janice, whose only goal is to make her sister’s life miserable. Adding in a new foster brother, Arthur, haunting more than just her dreams at night, she’s positive she’ll end up beating both her parents to the grave.
After a sudden death of the patriarch before she’s old enough to move out, Vicky and Janice are sent to live with a relative which might just be the biggest blessing of her life. When things are finally looking up, and all ties to her family are broken, she stumbles across her future husband and decides to leave the only life she knows in the past for the promise of something greater. But her past has different ideas, and soon enough a familiar face returns with a vengeance to remind her of where she came from.
After losing another person she loves, and getting help battling her past demons, she’s finally on the path to happiness and ready to start a family. However, sometimes dreams aren’t meant to be a reality, and Vicky isn’t sure if being a mother was part of her destiny. Her mental health is wavering, and the love of her children may not be enough to pull her out of the dark hole she’s falling into.
Will Vicky be able to survive the past and give her children the loving home she never had? Or will she create a life that mirrors her own childhood growing up, unable to break the cycle of abuse?
Recommended for adult audiences. This book contains abusive situations.
Book 1- Charlie's Inspired by a true story Book 2- Sam's The sequel to Charlie's Inspired by a true story Book 3: Vicky's The conclusion to the Samantha Mallon series
The main character makes me feel angry. I wish there would’ve been more of a true apology to the people she hurt instead her fate is the only thing that turned the main character around. It left a black hole inside of me. I read the other two books in the series and I know how their lives turned out but I guess that’s life! You’re not always going to get the apology you are craving for and need. I don’t see Vicky’s redemption only her selfishness, her manipulative and self centered ways. She was truly a lost soul that was never fixed.
End of book was hurried. Possibly a deadline problem. Vicky was a broken human who never learned to take any real responsibility for her hateful and cruel nature. Maybe if I had read the first two books in the series I would feel differently. Maybe another lifetime in Purgatory will give her a chance for redemption.
As someone who grew up in an abusive household and as an adult who tried to figure out "the why", this series was incredible. I cried some tears. I give the author kudos for doing what she could to tell her story. Thank you for sharing! Your book series has definitely made an impact on my life! Love & light ❤🕯
As the last in this series, I found the flawed heroine easy to both love and despise….all on the same page. Adoring Aunt and Uncle who had all of the information but who could not get her the much needed help and watched as history repeated itself.
Again, I couldn’t put it down! Mental health is no joke and if Vicky were just honest with people and most of all herself, her life and family life could have been so different. A definite must read!
I kept waiting for the “redemption,” but alas it was a sadly realistic depiction of a person with significant trauma attempting to create a life that erases their problems, while acquiring more trauma from the disappointment related to that new life and their own actions.

Wonderful series…you never know what makes a person and the secrets they keep..made me want to call my mom. For the love of family and our children…read these books you won’t be disappointed
These books broke my heart and it helped me to understand how it was for everyone and to know that everyone's story is different and we all have similar demons to fight and push through. Loved this book.
This conclusion of all 3 books did not disappoint! Here is Samantha Mallon’s mother’s story. Thru her eyes, her history, her upbringings and her painful childhood.
Most selfish person I’ve read about in a long, long time. Thank goodness it was a short book. Read the whole book hoping someone would open their eyes and grow up.
