Laura Olsen - Bossed around 3 - Worked Up

Sophie became pregnant when she had an affair with an older dominant #billonaire. She got scared and did not tell him bout it and ran.
Four years later they meet again. He had been looking for her, he still wants her and goes after her. She is scared that her secret will come out and he will leave her again.

A lovely #officeromance story about second chances.
It was a nice sweet sometimes a little steamy read. Not too much spice. Cute and romantic. I was hoping they would make it.

Worked up is a second chance, age-gap, billionaire short love story that was way longer than it should have been.

The writing style felt juvenile and without continuity. Small, simple sentences that failed to make me dive into any scene.

I constantly felt as if I was reading something in fast forward since most chapters were only 3 pages long and most of the times we jumped from one place/scene to another without much being said or done.

At 50% I wondered what more was there left and my fears were correct. There wasn’t much left story-wise so a lame fight happened just so that the “story” could go on for a little longer.

The heroine was irrational and didn’t know what she wanted, I couldn’t connect with her at all or justify any of her actions.

The hero was ok I suppose, way too condescending and good compared to Sophie but practically we learned nothing about Nicholas, not even how old he is. His feelings were hardly mentioned or analysed and you couldn’t connect with him either.

The book is written in 1st person with 95% narrated by Sophie and 5% by Nicholas, so I wouldn’t say it’s actually dual POV. There was some spice, 🌶️🌶️, but that wasn’t particularly exciting either.

Overall, I can’t give this more than 2⭐️ max.

19-year-old Sophie worked with Nicolas. Having a relationship with him, she ends up pregnant and runs off because she does not believe that he wants a child. Years later Nicolas runs into Sophie at the company she is working for and she is now his Account Manager for his business. Afraid to tell him she has a daughter; they resume a relationship. Sophie keeps this secret for as long as she can until it comes out unexpectedly. Thrilled at the prospect of being a father, Nicolas is all in, but is Sophie. She is not willing to compromise when it comes to their daughter since she has been doing this on her own for 4 years (remember, this was not his choice to not be included in his daughter’s life!)

I understand where Sophie is coming from, but I also can’t stand the fact she kept throwing it in his face that she was her primary caregiver and made all the decisions herself. She is selfish and the fact that she has Ella’s father who wants to be a part of her life, makes me mad that she doesn’t want to give in.

I really enjoy billionaire romance novels, and when the H is totally alpha - well let me just say I am here for it!!
This is a great office romance between Sophie & Nicholas - who have a past. They meet up again when Nicholas shows up at Sophie's place of work, and this time he doesn't plan on ever letting her go. Sophie holds a very important secret, which once revealed I thought Nicholas took really well. It was after this part that I started to sour a bit on Sophie. I thought she continually overreacted, and it ended up being exhausting reading her at times. She does get a little better by the end of the book, but truthfully it was because of her character that I only gave this book 4 stars. Obviously, Nicholas was the standout character for me and at times I thought he deserved better.

This book was ok, after reading the blurb I thought I would have enjoyed it more but unfortunately I just didn’t.
The story is about Sophie and Nicholas, Sophie being young which was mentioned many times (don’t recall finding out how much older Nicholas is) and pregnant breaks up with Nicholas and decides to bring up their daughter on her own without him knowing, they bump into each other again at her office 5 years later, Sophie eventually tells Nicholas about their daughter and they meet, everything goes well and then Nicholas says something that’s upsets Sophie so they breakup, this goes on for a long time, break up, declare their love and then get back together again, rinse and repeat, to the point I wanted to skip to the end.
I received a copy from BookSirens and this is my honest review.

Sweet Second Chance Romance. Sophie’s daughter Emma really stole the show in my opinion. Her sweetness , trusting nature and innocence was sheer perfection. Billionaire Nichols was quite intriguing to me. He surprised me around every turn of the page. I wanted more chapters of him and how he was processing everything, but he was so refreshing to read. I was left to wonder too much in regards to him. Sophie was not my favorite character however. In spite of her past challenges I found her immature, possessive, controlling and too easily irritated. She frustrated me to the point of siding with Nick most of the time. Her temper tantrums were unnecessary to me. Overall, the book is written well but needs a bit more excitement to raise the interest level from just OK to fantastic

They met when she was a young college student, and he was already well versed in his business and much older than her. When she found herself expecting a child, she ran devastating Nicholas. They come full circle when he comes to the company she now works, and the sparks are still there but Sophie has a secret she has kept hidden from Nicholas. When the truth comes out will it bring them closer together and lead them along the path to happiness. Nicholas and Sophie had me all caught up in this story as I connected with them while cheering them on.

WORKED UP fell a short of the description. The “work” part was not that accurate. Very little of the story involved interactions with work. The conflict in the story didn’t ring true for me. There seemed to be too many drawn out scenes that could have worked to advance the plot more succinctly.

The atmosphere of the story was juvenile. The dialogue was neither deep nor sophisticated and we only know the characters superficially. If the spicy parts had been deleted, I would have thought I was reading a book intended for a teen audience.

Ella is the Glue

Sophie and Nicholas have a short but passionate relationship which could have been something lasting. Her decisions throughout this story affect the course of their lives even after being reunited years later, which was a bit frustrating. While his expectations to be a parent with sudden and seemed demanding, I felt it was unfair how Sophie reacted. Overall, the story was good because of their daughter Ella and the interactions between the three of them.

When Sophie was nineteen, she had a six-month love affair with a gorgeous billionaire. Then she found herself pregnant, and thinking that it would never work with Nicholas, she ran away. Now they meet again where Heather works in marketing. The feelings are still there but she has a deep, dark secret. Ella, her beautiful four-year-old daughter. She has never told Nicholas about his daughter, so what on earth is she going to do now? Oh my, this story was wonderful and I really enjoyed it.

An interesting story. I loved young Ella. This is Nicholas and Sophie's story. Sophie and Nicholas had an affair several years ago when Sophia was 18. Sophie found out she was pregnant so ran away. She raised her little daughter, Ella, by herself. When Ella was four years old, Sophie met Nicholas again and sparks flew once more.

This is a sweet book with lots of sex parts.

Worked Up is a second chance romance with the surprise kid that pulls you in fast from the start. It has been several years since the night Nicholas and Sophie spent together, but they never forgot each other.

When Nicholas becomes a new client at Sophie's job, the truth she has been hiding comes out. But working together is harder than they expected.

Good fast read.

If you like office romances with a less than perfect boss then this is your next read. The story line was well written and the chemistry between the main characters was easy to see. I enjoyed the book as a whole.
