★★★ 1/2! The Ex Games, part 1 of 4. A fast paced novella series about two exes meeting up after a bad break-up years later!

“He had been my first lover and my first love, but to him, I was just a little girl playing around in fairytale land.”

The Ex Games is a novella series that should be read in order:
Part 1: The Ex Games I
Part 2: The Ex Games II
Part 3: The Ex Games III
Part 4: After The Ex Games

The Ex Games. Part I opens up to recent MBA graduate, Katie Raymond dreading having to fly to San Francisco to attend company orientation after learning that her ex, billionaire Brandon Hastings, purchased Marathon Corporation.

They haven’t seen each other in 7 years, since their 5 month relationship ended on bad terms. How and why exactly will unfold with story as Katie travels to San Francisco while reminiscing about their relationship. Story alternates between present time and flashbacks culmination with their explosive meeting and some shocking events and revelations…

“Men in their twenties are still chasing the almighty dollar and trying to get laid. Men in their thirties know that money and sex are not important.”

BRANDON HASTINGS:
35-42 years/heir/Hedge fund/CEO of Marathon Corporation/$$$$/black hair/blue eye/boss.

Brandon Hastings showed promising signs of becoming a great alpha with his anger and hot-cold attitude. I might question him not picking up on warning signs, but a lot of that can be attributed to him being used to women swooning at his feet and getting caught up in the challenge of courting Katie. Five words to describe Brandon: Honest, charming, noble, nurturing, protective jaded and vengeful.

KATIE RAYMOND:
18-25 years/recent MBA graduate from NYU/executive manager at Marathon Corporation/brown hair/brown eyes/employee.

Katie Raymond was not a compelling heroine in part 1. Her lies and immaturity came across as selfish and annoying. But in present time I saw some vulnerability and remorse so maybe there is hope for her. Six words to describe Katie: Naïve, immature, selfish, uncharismatic, thoughtless and deceitful.

I have deducted from my overall rating for the dialogue feeling off at times including during sex; the switch between past and present wasn’t marked clearly; unrealistic public sex and unprofessional dialogue in front of business associates; unpleasant heroine.

Story moved along at a pleasant pace only to come to a surprising yet very welcome cliffy. I am already opening up part 2, The Ex Games II for continuation of Brandon and Katie’s story.

Curious plot! Fast-paced story! Promising hero! I see potential for a great-in-between novella series! 3.5 stars!

“That’s for the memories.”

What a complete piece of trash. I have seen erotic fanfiction written by teenagers who have never had sex better than this garbage. The only reason why I picked this up was because it was on the NYT bestsellers.

Katie is a one-dimensional pathetic excuse for a woman in modern society, and Brandon fares no better. There is no proper characterisation and both characters appear to have split personalities throughout the story. I was midway through the second instalment. What a horrible waste of paper and ink.

Gag and DNF.

One too many sex scenes in public…with people around… like in an elevator. Good thing the hero is an arrogant billionaire.

I can only push my suspension of disbelief so far.

Off for some brain bleach and a penicillin shot.

The first installment in a 3-part erotic romance novella series. It's short, making it a quick, and unfortunately, just an OK read for me. Katie is Brandon is She's keeping a major secret from Brandon that ultimately will be the demise of this relationship.

There's good, bad, and ugly all wrapped up in this short novella. At times the writing is good, other times, not so much. Also, there are areas where the reader must be able to suspend disbelief to thoroughly enjoy. In most cases this is not a problem for me. When I read to escape I like to forgo the in-depth realities of RL. Unfortunately, there are a few scenes that were so unbelievable that it detracted from my enjoyment.

Katie's innocence and immaturity shine through in this first release. While I'm not feeling a connection to either the H/h, or their story, I am compelled to see where the next installment will lead as well as the outcome of their relationship.

This series was chosen for me by a friend in a local group read. Many have loved this and I'm thinking this is another book that everyone loves but me. Therefore, please don't let my rating deter you from trying. Now off to the next installment:)

Okay let me start by saying the author has no constancy whatsoever. Sometimes she doesn't add the dots across the page to let you know the character is having another flashback. I have to go back and reread to actually get it. Second of all what the heck? I don't like the writing style or at least how the characters are acting, it's ridiculous! Especially this grown man, excuse me I mean grown BOY!

What a child!

I found it laughable he said to her that he didn't date lower because two weeks into it they did the deed, then two months into it, I love you, probably still two months or three into it move in with me. and apparently somewhere during the five month relationship he brought up babies! should I assume it's because he's thirty five that is the reason he is rushing? Eighteen or not he was being ridiculous!

I can't stand Katie. Even now at twenty five she acts like a dear in the headlights saying huh and oh all the time. She is so damn clueless as to what is going on around her it's pathetic!

Speaking of oh. If someone says that word one more time.......good god!

Oh Katie!
Oh Brandon!
Oh Katie!
Oh
Okay

OH MY GOD! Shut up!

Just what the heck was I reading? And then he finds out she is eighteen and he takes her to the trash cans to screw her one last time to be mean, to have a memory that isn't in the classroom and because lets face it- he's a pervert who likes jail bait. She tries to kiss him after class and he pulls back in disgust but then he will have sex with her outside?

And oh wow! After seven years apparently he still thought about her and wasted no time getting back in her pants again and le shock, the idiot is engaged!

I can tell right off the back this series is a car accident. You can't look away even though you know you should. I like the plot but I don't like how it is written and the characters are not smart. I'll buy the next two books and read them only because it will be so darn easy to get a refund afterward.

Holy freaking hell!!

I wasn't going to get this.. The whole charging a dollar for something less than 70 pages really REALLY bugs me.. So I will put it out there I think that is a bit of a scam.. sorry to any authors that do this..

With that said though this was an AMAZING first part.. I am going to read the next one now!

OOOOH i had such a good time with this little story..
I can't wait to read the rest 2 parts..

I don't know how or why, because this is not a big book but i connected in a great level with the characters.. And also i feel that i know them and their story well.. I empathize with Katie even though she made mistakes..

Brandon is a multi-billionaire businessman much older than Katie who is a freshman in Columbia, and they fall in love..
Katie lies and they break up.. But the story starts 7 years later, when they meet again and now he is her boss..

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- Their past is told through flashbacks..
- Meg is a good friend..
- He broke her heart..
- She acted like a little girl, but she was a little girl so..

- The writing is at some points really good.. But mostly ok..
- The sex is hot..

- The way Brandon left her was so humiliating..
- I hope they have a chance..

This was a very mediocre storyline, written poorly and without inspiration. It seemed like a plot the author dreamed up and then used connect-the-dots to write. The characters were flat and unbelievable, the sex was unforgivably boring and the turn of events were laughable and rushed.

Seven years before, Kate fell in love with the much older Brandon--a successful, handsome and possessive businessman. Their whirlwind courtship was perfect...except for a big secret Kate was hiding. Long story short (as short as it's told by the author), Brandon finds out about it and ditches Kate in quite the heartless way. (Also, did anyone else find it weird he kept calling her "dear"?)

Now Kate is a "mature" 25 year old woman embarking on the next phase in her career. Even though her relationship with Brandon is all she can think about, she's, like, totally a business woman, you guys. The catch? Almighty Brandon, now in his early 40's--though you wouldn't know that by his actions--just bought the company. Because that's totally realistic. Of course they come face to face, and all Kate can obsess about is how terrible she was to him. All I kept thinking about is how he broke up with her. But, I digress.

The two pick up where they left off, their previous anger and hurt fueling yet another boring hook-up. Only this time, it appears Brandon is the one hiding the secret.

In short, read this if you have nothing else to do.

Hysterical!

When I first started reading this book about Katie, an 18 year old college freshman, and Brandon, a 35 year old billionaire, I thought this will be quick read for a book challenge I joined! I wasn't expecting to enjoy it! But I did, and quickly 1-clicked the boxed set to read the rest of the follow up books. This book had me in hysterics and I found myself laughing out loud!

One night while out clubbing using fake ID with her two college classmates, Katie steps outside while her friends use the restroom. While she's propped up against a wall feeling dizzy, Brandon approaches her asking her if she's alright. As they start bantering and flirting she tells him she's 22 and he takes her to his apartment where she spends the night. Corny or what?! I mean she has a five minute chat with the guy and she leaves with him, he could have been Jack the Ripper! And her friends aren't even worried that she disappeared!

What I loved about this short book was it didn't try too be anything more than a fun and lighthearted story. Of course Katie gets caught, of course Brandon gets mad, but I had so much fun reading about it! It wasn't just her age that she lied about, it was everything about herself. You'll just have to read it to believe it! That girl was one doozy of a fibber! And Brandon was so besot with her he bought her lies until he was hit smack dab in the face! Oh, I've gotta read the rest of this series! LOL!

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What have you done to me. JS Cooper and Helen Cooper you have planted a seed within my mind, i want and need more.

Now this is a novella, a short story, but don't let that put you off. This book is ram packed full of everything you need or wanted. Honestly its not missing anything but i do need part II and quickly.

Anyway on to the book.

Brandon Hastings meets Katie Raymond on her first night out in the big Apple and she'd not been one for drinking alcohol and got drunk rather quickly. Katie was waiting for her friends outside a club that is when Brandon saw her. Things moved very quickly and Katie spun a small lie that escalated into a larger one, one that quickly began to spiral out of control. As always with lies they have a tendency to catch up with you.

Now seven years later, all grown up and manager of Marathon Corps New York, for all of a month when she is told she has to go on an orientation weekend and guess who's the new CEO..... yep, the one and only Brandon Hastings. Katie hopes not to bump into him over the weekend. She knew she'd hurt him and she had been broken hearted too but it was seven years ago, things will have changed and there is a big chance he won't recognize her, she was merely a girl pretending to be a woman back then.

Yet first loves, aren't that easy to forget or get over.

I can't wait for the next part

This is one of the worst books ever. I'm not kidding. I always give books a chance, and a friend told me to read this. OH MY GOSH...I was laughing at how ridiculous it was. The only decent parts were stolen ideas from other writers. The protagonist was an idiot, a liar, and I really couldn't care less if she had bad things done to her because of the above qualities. Her "love" was an immature billionaire that could only speak in unrealistic-pick-up-line-lingo.
I couldn't finish one full chapter of this book without skipping around...so it probably doesn't seem fair that I rated it. However, I am the queen of "giving books a chance", and if I couldn't do it, that should say something. I actually (for the first time) DELETED this one from my Amazon Kindle list so I wouldn't have to remind myself of the torture.
I always find redeeming qualities, so here it goes: although the writing was novice at best, it was edited well. Too bad the editor couldn't stop this one from being published.

I feel really sorry for this, but OMG this is the worst book I have ever read, the H has an ASSHOLE and NOT in a sexy way, and the h was a fucking doormat! And every time I thought the book was redeemable, they did some stupid thing, I called quits when they had sex at the bar where she met the bartender, fucking pig. I really wanted to give this book a try because it sounded so interesting but I just can’t anymore.

I did like the writing style so I may be in line to tray another book from this author but this one just loose his mark by an infinite of miles.

This book is a bit weird, it had a lot of things I didn't like and the way the story develops is ridiculou but in the end I did enjoy reading it. i think the author had the right idea but the execution just leaves room for improvement.

H and h are both not very likable. H is an alphahole and only appears to want the h for hot sex. The h is a pushover who submits to the H even though he just uses her for sex. Aside from that, both are with different people (whatever the nature of these relationships) and yet they continue sleeping with each other and thus cheating on their partners.

So be warned. This book is full of triggers.

The Ex Games 2The Ex Games 3

Either I have read one too many romance novels, seen one too many soap operas, or I am a REALLY smart girl. I would like to say that I'm incredibly smart, but that's a big ole hairy lie. While the three part series was a little compelling, I found the premise utterly predictable if not wholly disturbing. The sex scenes were ok, but perhaps I'm not the most subjective person to critique them. They just blurred together with no discernible originality, much like the author's blurred transitions between the past and present? Further, there was one particularly disturbing scene wherein anal sex was engaged. Appearantly the author knows little about the actual act in terms of protection. "Condoms?" you ask. That would be too easy...the act of anal penetration must be conducted with protecting the female's sexual health in mind. Unfortunately, "Brandon" went from vaginal to anal and back to vaginal.

Now, most people know that E. Coli live in the bowels. And that is only ONE of the many that exists in that environment. And it can cause really wicked infections if it leaves that environment and contaminates food for instance. So imagine what it would do if introduced to the vaginal environment. He author not only overlooked that small issue, but may not have even googled it because there are about 500 different bacteria in the gut - and all combined, number in the trillions. So yeah, NEVER a good idea to do that...IJS.

But again, I digress. So now would be a good time to stop reading if you are interested in reading this series.

I really, really wanted to give this more stars. I just can't justify more for the few reasons.

The bad:
1. all three books was a total of $5. WAY too expensive. I had no idea the 1st book was so short. I had to buy 2 more books just to see how it ends. It really should have been one book priced at $2.99 or less. I feel ripped off. It took me 3 hours to read all 3 books, and I read really slow compared to a lot of people. This is my biggest problem with the books.

2. (Spoiler if some sort) I can understand that she wanted to keep her being a virgin a secret. But once the deed is done. Don't have him ask her by saying I felt when I broke your hymen. Really, REALLY?? Could she have just been bleeding and he figured it out? That was SO unbelievable. You almost lost me at at that point.

3. Katie was not a very good character. Her answer to everything was "Oh, Brandon" and then giggles. She has no depth or personality. I found her getting on my nerves way to often.

The good:
1. I really liked the flashbacks. The author did a great job with this part.

2. The sex scenes where great.

3. In book one Brandon and Katie sounded like a wonderful couple. I really liked them and was hoping everything worked out.

Over all, it kept my attention and I bought all 3 books.

I truly love Helens books and I`m glad she is coming back with some, it`s weird even though they are the same person, she writes totally differen`t and I LOVE and missed Helens books, this was AMAZING. I enjoyed this short read and I cannot wait to see which path and direction the book goes down. The concept of the book was a new one and very entertaining. I cannot wait to see what Katie will do. I LOVE Brandon SOOOOO MUCH!!!! the elevator sex, holy crap!!!!! you may need an extra pair of panties for this book! Brandon makes me mad here and there and I hope he makes it up to her in the future, what she did was wrong, but what he did was worse. I LOVED THIS and I want more NOW!!! it leaves off on a tiny bit of a cliffy, but it isn`t long for the next one!!! Cannot wait!!!! I need to know what Katie is going to do!! and Brandon!! UGH!!!!!!!

Some quotes I love:

“Because if I take you tonight, there will be no letting go. No turning back. I will make you mine. I will possess you.”

“Why should I care? This is the best elevator ride I`ve ever had.”

“I think you may very well be the one, Katie Raymond. You may very well be the one. ”

Well damn...if that wasn't a crazy hot ride and I'm still shaky!

Katie Raymond is a college student at Columbia University and a night of a few too many drinks lands her in the apartment of multi-billionaire Brandon Hastings.

Brandon is instantly smitten with Katie. He wants her and is determined to have her. Katie is young and naive and falls quickly for the sexy older man. Their courtship is quick and one small lie turns into a tidal wave of mass destruction.

Fast forward 7 years...

Katie is climbing the corporate ladder and is shocked to learn that her company has been acquired by none other than Brandon. She is forced to attend a new company orientation and finds herself face with the only man that she has loved...will lies continue to keep them apart?

Hang on for the ride of this 3-book novella series! The second book will release on January 2nd and the final book on January 9th...I'm enjoying the ride, join me!!!

I love J. S. Cooper's writing and I just had to read this book. I didn't realize just exactly how short this book was. There is only about five chapters, but they are some pretty amazing chapters. The first book here mostly goes into detail about what is happening in the present and what went down in the past to get Katie into the situation she is in now. It tells of the huge lie that Katie kept from Brandon while they were together. She is older now, but she still loves him after all this time and she is finding it hard to have to see him now. She knows she messed up, but deep down she is hoping that he will forgive her. After all, it has been seven years since it happened. There isn't a bunch of eroticness in this book, but it does get pretty intense in some parts. If you are not comfortable with those types of scenes, I would not recommend this book. If you are looking for a quick, fun read, then this is the mini series for you! Ready to find out what happens in the next book.

4.5 rounded up to 5. This is a very short story, Part 1 of 3 parts with only a week or so separating each installment. I really liked this first installment and I will definitely be reading at least #2.

The girl meets a hot guy and passes herself off as a 22 year old recent college graduate. He's 35. Really she's 18, just out of high school, and when they fall in love she lies and schemes to make sure he doesn't find out her real age. This book takes place years later after the guy learned the real truth (and left her) and his company has now purchased the place where she, now in her mid 20's, currently works. She knows the guy hates her for her deception and she's petrified of seeing him again. I won't spoil any more.

I'm really interested to find out what happens next.

Its a good story within such few pages.
I liked how the whole story went along while moving back and forth with time.
I don't know why Brandon react so differently,he has so many mood swings. He is so hot and cold every time he meets Katie.
I have yet to read about anything related to title i.e. Game.
But as a whole short book its really good.
Story is bit twisted and sometimes complicated but its really fun to read their relationship at present and in past.

Surreal!

Que livro péssimo!
Cristo!

E fazem algo pra reatar?! TAMBÉM NÃO!

ah cristo, pq ainda leio e perco tempo com essas coisas?!

Se recomendo? NÃÃÃÃÃÃOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
