The Wild One is the third book in the Forever Wild Serial. (This is a six part series with one book releasing every 3 weeks)
Wes never considered himself a lucky man - until one wild night in Vegas that ended with a marriage to Valerie Wilder. She doesn’t consider herself as lucky, and gives him thirty days to sign the divorce papers, forgetting their marriage every existed. There’s just one problem.
He’s fallen hard for Valerie.
Wes loves everything about the girl he married by mistake, except the fact that he doesn’t feel worthy of her - especially when hedge funder Max Green keeps coming back in the picture. Wes can’t compete with the rich and powerful man who also wants Valerie as his own, but he doesn’t want to lose her. To prove his love for Valerie and save their marriage, Wes is going to fight hard for the woman he loves, putting his wild side behind him to be the man she needs. Before it’s too late.
Magan Vernon has been living off of reader tears since she wrote her first short story in 2004. She now spends her time killing off fictional characters, pretending to plot while she really just watches Netflix, and she tries to do this all while her two young children run amok around her Texas ranch.
You can stalk or...er...find her online at all of these fun and happy places.
“The Wild One” l’ho vinto in un giveaway indetto dalla stessa Magan Vernon sulla sua pagina fb e l’ho letto la notte stessa con tutto quello che può significare. Si ogni capitolo della serie è molto corto, ma ero talmente curiosa di leggere e saperne di più di Wes che non mi sono lasciata fermare da nulla. E quando mi è arrivata la mail da Inkslinger PR per partecipare al Book Launch non me lo sono lasciata ripetere due volte. Perché questa serie è davvero molto interessante e ben costruita e nonostante i soliti cliché riesce davvero conquistare i suoi lettori.
Vedo. L’ora. XD Buona lettura guys!
Ringrazio immensamente Magan Vernon per avermi dato l’occasione di leggere questo libro in anteprima e InkSlinger Pr per avermi dato modo di partecipare al book launch. GRAZIE!
Book One (One Wild Night) had Wes and Valerie waking up hitched in Vegas. Wes discovers that Valerie is only beginning in her career and is not the "Sugar Mama" he thought she was. Surprisingly, he's okay with this. Valerie's pretty awesome so he's a winner whichever way he sees it. Valerie is disbelieving. What on earth could someone as good-looking and fit as Wes possible want with her now he knows she's not a proverbial "Cash Cow"? The try to get divorced but as neither is a legal resident of the state they are not able to.
Book Two (Wild Hearts) Sees Wes and Valerie on a plane back to Chicago. He's going to stay with her while they file of divorce in her state of residence. Wes is fortunate enough to make the not-so-pleasant acquaintance of Val's roommate Paige. At least the cat likes him. When they are awakened in the middle of the night by Max, a "friend" of Val's, looking for a booty call Wes gets very mad and very jealous. Even if he wasn't right there, she deserves better than that. He decides he doesn't want a divorce, now he just has to convince Valerie she's worthy and to stay married.
And then we get to this book. The midway point in the series...
Told from Wes' point-of-view, we get to learn a little more about his home life and what happened to cause him to leave Alabama and football behind and end up stripping in Vegas. There's a moment or two between him and Paige where he realizes she may not be all bad and she calls him out on his true feelings for Val. Throw in some extra drama in the guise of Max the Booty Call and an ending that I should have seen coming but really didn't and once again you find me on edge waiting for the next installment.
After One Wild Night and Wild Hearts, we finally get a peek inside the mind of Wes, and he doesn't disappoint.
After a hasty Vegas marriage to a woman he thought was his meal ticket, Wes in in Chicago, and he's doing everything he can to avoid those divorce papers. Sure, she doesn't have the bank account he'd hoped for, but she has everything else that initially attracted him to her -- beauty, brains, determination, and the kind of strength and confidence he can't help but admire.
But now her old "friend with benefits" is making a play for her, and when it comes to having something to offer, Wall Street suit and tie Max seems to have the edge on Wes. But the more time Wes spends with Valerie, the more he loves her. Now he just needs to convince her she's worth loving.
I'm about done with the crap editing in this series. Everything else about the books is a lot of fun, but finding someone who knows the difference between who's and whose, who is willing to use commas where basic grammar rules require them, and who actually puts periods at the ends of sentences shouldn't be that hard. Especially when the book is only about 50 pages long. Like I've said before, I don't expect authors to get that part perfect, but I do expect their editors to understand and actually use the basic rules of the English language. It's hard to enjoy a story, no matter how well written it is, when the bad editing is distracting you from all the good stuff.
If I didn't love Wes before (and honestly, I was on the fence for a while), I certainly do now. He's a genuine guy, and no matter how good he looks, he's not looking down his nose at anyone. Valerie's lack of self-confidence when it comes to her weight is a bit frustrating, but then again, she doesn't get to read Wes's thoughts like the rest of us do, so I really can't blame her for playing it safe when it comes to her heart. The Wild One is a great continuation of the set up provided for the first two books, and with that mischievous ending? The next books in the series are gonna be awesome. Dare I hope an awesome new editor joins the fun as well?

I've been liking this series so far and I love that each installment starts right were the last one left off.
This time around we get to be in Wes' head! I liked it. We got to see how he really feels about Val from the moment they met until now. He was really sweet and I could definitely tell that his feelings for Val were genuine. I also liked that we got to learn a little more about Wes' past and what/how he ended up in Vegas. From the moment I read the first installment, I've been going back and forth on whether I like Wes or not. Well...I'm still not sure how I feel about him.
Then there's Max. He's definitely the opposite of Wes and a complete douche. He rubs me the wrong way. I bet we'll see more of him in the next installment. But i did like that because of him there was a little twist that I was not expecting.
This series has been sweet, sexy and funny so far. And I love the soap-y feeling it has. So will the divorce papers get signed? If so, will they start dating or will they go their separate ways? Ahhh! I can't wait to see what happens next!
These books are really hard to review. They are really short and I don't want to give too many spoilers. So you really need to read One Wild Night and Wild Hearts before this review!!
Wes is in love with Valerie. He doesn't want to get a divorce, but Val seems determined to get the divorce. Though when Max the f*** buddy shows up to talk with Wes and make him a deal will Wes make the right decision? Or does he decide to take Max up on his offer?
I really can't wait for the next book. I want to know what happens to Val, Wes and even Max.
I cannot wait to see what Wes has up his sleeve to win Val's heart. I'm a little worried about what he's doing at the end of the book and how it's all going to play out. I'm still totally #teamwes and I may have even felt a twinge of hope for Val's roommate being human.

Ok this story just keeps getting Better and better!!! Absolutely love it!! I have said it in every review but I love Wes lol...The whole story just keeps you wanting more and more!! Can't wait to see what happens with Valerie and Wes!!!
So, obviously, this review will have spoilers of books 1, 2, and probably even 3, so take that as your DISCLAIMER.
For those who jumped right over here without reading the other two, I'll catch you up to speed really quickly. Valerie, the PR chick, got really drunk on a business trip to Vegas and ended up marrying Wes, a sexy stripper. Since she didn't realize that the divorce would take longer than the marriage, she brought Wes home to her apartment to wait for the divorce to be final. Valerie and Wes had sex, a few times, and then realized that they may have feelings for one another that extended a little past the physical.
Queue book 3 -- FOREVER WILD -- which is actually told from the perspective of Wes, for a nice change of pace.
Wes, much like a crazed stalker, has decided that he loves Valerie... already. Even so, he feels intense competition from Max, Valerie's "fuck buddy" who just so happens to be a multi-millionaire. He thinks that Max is a better match for Valerie, when it comes to choosing a long term husband, but he is determined to have Valerie see him as more than a slab of mean who happened to be her husband after a drunken mistake.
In a disturbingly strange scene, Wes walks in on Valerie, bawling her eyes out while eating a huge stick of butter. Straight butter. This flashes Wes back to his childhood, specifically to the time when his dad caught him eating butter out of the refrigerator and proceeded to shock him with a cattle prod while accusing him of being fat and possibly gay. We learn that Wes is a wounded soul, and that Valerie is sobbing because the buff men at the gym are mean to her. Wes consoles Valerie to make her see that he is a good guy at heart, and not just a stripper.
But, then Wes makes an idiot of himself in front of his readers, revealing to us that his marriage to Valerie was intentional, to give him a means by which to escape his tragic life as a stripper. He singled out Valerie because she looked rich, and also because she was "a thick girl" who was definitely not attractive enough to be considered by any of the other strippers, who may or may not also be planning escape routes of their own.
Now, at this point, Wes assures us that he's not still a misogynist pig, because he stuck around for the sex and realized after just a few days that he really had true feelings for the "thick girl". While Wes came across as a desperate little puppy in the first two books, he takes more of a psychopathic pervert stance in this one, bragging that he could have some hot girl's "panties" in his hand in two seconds, if that's what he wanted.
Except he didn't. He chose the "thick girl".
Wes has a secret that he doesn't wish to reveal to Valerie, but don't get excited -- it's just that his dad was only proud of him while he was "fucking a former cheerleader". So, Wes stayed in an abusive relationship with an ex girlfriend, and former cheerleader, while she berated him and cheated on him with his closest friends. This is why he has a hard time revealing his feelings outside of sex. Meanwhile, Valerie feels that she's not good enough for Wes, because he's a sexy stripper and she's just a "thick girl"....
Valerie's roommate attempts to seduce Wes, which somehow results in the two going together to pick a new diamond ring for Valerie. Afterwards, the "fuck buddy" appeared with a huge sum of money to bribe Wes to expedite his divorce and leave the state forever.
So, what does a desperate ex-stripper do, when faced with enough cash to help him escape stripper-dom forever? Does he take the money and run? Or does he stick around with the "thick girl"?
I've gotten this far, so I may as well keep reading, now....
REVIEW: The story: This episode is all about Wes! We learn a lot about Wes's past and how that has an affect on his relationship with Val. We also get to see somewhat of an understanding form between Wes and Val's roommate Paige. Wes has a lot of decisions he needs to make and when confronted with a particularly difficult situation, his commitment to Val is tested. There was a very interesting development towards the end, but I'm not going to spoil that one for you! :)
The characters: It was so great to be inside Wes's mind for this part of the story. At first I found it difficult to understand his motivations for wanting to stay married to Val, but after reading his POV we really get to understand his attraction and feeling so much better! We get to see a much more sensitive and insecure side to him, and I loved that!
Val has a major moment of weakness, and it really shows that her confident personality is sometimes an act. Seeing her struggle with how people react to her appearance was painful and I loved that Wes was there for her when she needed his support.
Val's bitchy roommate Paige somewhat won me over in the episode. We get to see a different side to her, and she proves that she is a genuine friend of Val's and always has her back. She's still brash and pushy and certainly doesn't mince her words, but at least Wes always knows where he stands with her.
The romance: So far Val has been a confident and vibrant character when she's around Wes, however she lets down her walls around him a little more this time. I think it was it was important for their relationship to see her trust him with her insecurities. It shows that their connection runs deeper than simply lust and attraction.
The Writing: I was so happy to hear that this episode was from Wes's POV and can I say it was the best decision! Wes's character development was much stronger as we get to see some of his weaknesses. I absolutely loved the use of flashbacks and memory's of his childhood, which gave a real insight into his character.
FINAL WORD: This episode was all about Wes, his past, his present and most importantly his future. We are left with a killer decision being made by Wes that had me yelling "Nooo that can't be the end". I need the next one now!
CONTENT: Sexuality: strong / sex scene Violence: none Language: medium / some f words Drugs & alcohol: medium
O. M. G. Magan Vernon really has something good going with this Forever Wild series. The Wild One is the 3rd installment and in my opinion it just keeps getting better. This time we are allowed to get into Wes’s head and get his view on things since coming to Chicago after cliché wedding debacle. With each installment only being a tad over 50 pages things move rather quickly, but its still interesting and full of one my favorite things...drama.
Now that I've had a chance to get in Wes head, he definitely has me more than convinced that he is truly does have feelings for Valerie. He even has Valerie's roommate Paige taking notice of his adorning attention. I just hope that Valerie takes notice of the potential these two can have before its too late.
Of course after Valerie has attracted the full attention of another man her d-bag friend with benefits Max all of sudden takes notice of her which I’m not convinced is genuine. In my head I think he wants her to have no one, but him whenever he feels like being bother. Its like dude you had your chance. Time to keep it moving.
While I do despise these ever growing mini series, because I’m a slave to instant gratification I can’t stress enough the you should give The Forever Wild series a go. Author Magan Wild has truly created something that has it all things that not only puts silly smile on your face but can cause butterflies.
Episode 3 of the Forever Wild series is brought to us in Wild Wes's point of view…and it's about time! Before this one, I was still on the fence a little bit with Wes, but now it's official…I am in love with him!
The divorce papers have been delivered but Wes is reluctant to sign them…he knows as soon as he signs, Val will kick him out the door. There was a moment when Wes thought Val may have actually liked him, but then that Yankee, rich, business guy showed up. There's no way Wes can compete with that…
We quickly learn that Wes isn't just a shallow stripper with a hot body…he has gone through some stuff in his life to get him where he is today. He's afraid that letting Val in on his past will only push her away, but that isn't necessarily the case.
When Wes realizes his true feelings for Val, he is hell-bent on showing her how he really feels and proving to her that she deserves more than just sex from men. With the help of the previously super-bitchy roommate, Paige, can Wes convince Val that what they have is real? When Max makes an offer to Wes that is *almost* too good to refuse, will he stay or will he go? Guess we'll find out in the next episode…
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
In The Wild One we FINALLY get a chance to see what is going on in Wes's head. I could not get enough. This was definitely my favorite of the series so far.
Getting to know Wes really added to the story. He has a past that we learn about and everything seems to make more sense He is not only sexy, but he is caring and romantic. He has these feelings for Val and he is so unsure of himself. He is insecure and believes Val can do better. Sigh. I wanted to hug him and make everything feel better.
I was a teeny tiny disappointed in him for a minute when he admitted his first intentions. But he's human. And young. We all make mistakes. His feelings towards Val are getting stronger and I absolutely enjoyed getting know how his feelings regarding Val has evolved. I just wish that Val could see how much her husband is truly falling for her. This is not act. It seems like both of them have insecurities that are getting in the way of love. Max in the picture isn't helping either.
This is seriously a fun and sexy read. If you haven't picked it up yet, what are you waiting for? Wild Wes is definitely worth checking out. Every installment gets better and keeps you on edge.
This third installment in the Wild series is written in Wes' POV which was great as we get to see things from his eyes and find out how he really feels. Wes, surprisingly, is deeper than his stripper persona first suggested. He's a nice guy but I still have trouble with his tendency to put money above everything else. Of course this is because he doesn't have any, and really it just makes him more real. Because let's face it, when confronted with a wad of cash when previously we had never even seen that much money, we'd all be tempted, even if it was only briefly. So he's not the perfect book boyfriend, like I said, it does make him a more realistic character. But I still judge him for it. I can't help it! I want perfection in my fictional men I guess. However Wes is finally admitting to himself and to the b*tchy roommate Paige that he has feelings for Valerie, but will he grow a pair and tell Valerie? This story is intriguing but I do wish Wes was a bit more Alpha. I think Valerie has more Alpha in her than him at this point! I can see some frustrating times looming on the horizon with the next installment, Max is being his usual douchey self and I can see him definitely creating trouble in paradise for the pair.
The Wild One is from Wes’ POV rather than Valerie’s! I didn’t like this part quite as much as the previous two though. It felt like it didn’t move forward enough, at least at the beginning. It’s a lot of self-pity as we learn about Wes’ tragic past and what brought him to Vegas in the first place. I liked getting to know him better, but I probably would like liked it more being filtered through Valerie. I guess I just didn’t like Wes’ voice.
The ending of The Wild One was great though! There’s a bit of a blackmail plot introduced, but Wes isn’t one to fall for that so easily! I’m curious to see how that plays out, because it could go really, really wrong. Wes’ heart is in the right place, but perhaps his method isn’t the best.
Overall, I was a bit disappointed with The Wild One. I'd actually had expectations that it would be better than the first 2 books, since I was excited to get into Wes' head. It didn't really work for me though, and I'm glad that the next book will be back to Valerie's perspective.
The Wild One is part 3 in the 6 part serial. This time we get to experience the world through Wes's eyes and get more to the story that what we have experienced through Valerie. Wes isn't just a push over. He truly has feelings for Val but doesnt want to treat her like crap or push her.
We experience their first fight, a little bit of his past, and what has led him to the decisions he has made so far. I have to say that this had made me interested in the story again.
Another fab instalment. Wes and Val have decided not to sign the divorce papers for 30 days. Wes has fallen hopelessly for his wife but doesn't think that Val feels the same. A visit from Val's ex sets him in a tailspin.
