The Blame Game: A Letter of Truth

Rate this book
This is a straight to the point raw portrayal of life in the black community. This book forces you to question yourself no matter your social class or demographic. Did I mention raw? There isn't and ounce of sugar in this book she is going in whether it be about the black community and their dependence on government assistance or that babydaddy that has come up missing. THIS IS A TRUTH THAT ALL PEOPLE NEED TO HEAR. THIS SHOULD BE A REQUIRED READ!!!

Ashlee Woods is a 30 year old mother of 3 that resides Fort Worth, Texas by way of Amarillo, Tx. Writing has always been a passion whether it was poetry, short stories, or scribbles of lingering thoughts. Ashlee realized she possessed a gift and found that the perfect fit was using it to touch on cultural ignorance and empowerment. When asked why she is so raw...she replied "I have chosen to ignore the politically correct way of saying and doing things...simply because sometimes people just need to hear it straight...and most people wont give it to them. That is what I am here for..I will make changes in our communities..It is not what I hope to do...it is what I will do...I will change things...one book at a time"

I loved it !!! The best part about the book is that it wasn't preachy or judge mental. It was a woman telling you her story and the things she learned from it in hopes that other women going down the same path will do the same thing. It is intelligent and you can tell that a great amount of research and prior knowledge went into writing the book. I really enjoyed it and though I never lived that lifestyle I know people who have and this serves as a great lesson

This is a book that you can print out certain chapters and allow your daughters to read. This will help with those conversations about self esteem and self respect.

This book will make you reevaluate the decisions you have made and were about to make.

This was an excellent read and I can't wait for the next.

'Free your mind, and the rest will follow!' (Not just a song by En Vogue from back in the day).

I'm not from the USA, but I read this book and was able to relate! We face the same struggles in the UK within the 'ethnic minority' community.I give it 5 stars because this author knows what time it is and has become enlightened to what behaviour can lead to the downfall of the black community and in particular the 'ethnic minority' female. 5 stars because I praise her for having the no nonsense attitude needed to be brave enough to publish a book on the topics she has; and not be scared of the haters calling her a b****.

As a mother and wife I agree a lot with the media raising children, making good choices so you are a wife and mother not 'baby mamma' and bit on the side, investing in yourself and child for tomorrow not just today!Knowing when to leave the 'hood or ghetto' behind! And reinstating the important role men play in a women's and child's life. I could go on forever! Praising what I agree with just read the book if you're an ethnic minority female in your 20s,30s or 40s.

The writing style is to the point, real, and honest don't read this book and get offended reflect on the messages sent from it.

There are a few grammatical errors but being a school teacher I notice these things easy! I'm just mentioning it as a note to author to ensure she has a good editor for future novels, and ensure book 2 is not critiqued due to a few grammar whoopsies. They are very minor this is not a downfall to the book's goodness.

Overall, I hope this book reaches as many females as Beyonce and Riri do! It is a must read. Good luck Ms Roche I await your next novel.
