A funny and insightful novel told from the point of view of its two main protagonists - Erin and Liam. Erin's father has gone bankrupt and so her family have moved to the local council estate. Erin is finding it hard to adjust to her new life - sharing a room with her sister, living away from her friends, and having no phone! Liam, on the other hand, loves life on the estate. Everyone wants to be his friend and his dad is a well-respected local business man. Liam really likes Erin - but she can't stand him. Still, he lives in hope that one day they will get together.
Helena Pielichaty (pronounced Pierre-li-hatty), author of children's books, was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1955, but most of her childhood was spent in Yorkshire. Pielichaty lives in Nottinghamshire with her husband and two children.
Pielichaty began her career as a teacher and did not start writing until she was 32. Since then, Pielichaty has written many books published by the Oxford University Press.
Another splendid book I read called Never Ever by Helena Pielichaty is an interesting fiction book. This author made a book just for ages 13 and up making an unbelievable adventure between a male and a female. This book included adventure, realistic fiction and perhaps some romance. I chose to read this book mainly because of a friend 19s advice. The cover looks girly but trust me, it 19s not girly at all. It basically includes aspects of real life and how life works when you 19re a female/male and 14 years old dealing with love and uninvited stuff.
This story starts off with a girl called Erin Mackiness. She is 14 years old. She is, of course, from England. Her parents used to be in perfect condition until they moved to the local council estate. Things there weren 19t normal anymore: their house was very small, they had a limited amount of money, Erin had to share a room with her sister, Georgia and she they didn 19t have a phone! This is a mainly funny and insightful story told from the point of view of its two main protagonists - Erin and Liam. Erin hates life in the estate. Liam, on the other hand, loves life there: everybody wants to be his friend, and his dad is a well-respected local businessman. Liam really likes Erin but she can 19t stand him. Liam, still, hopes that one day they will get together.
This story somehow made your heart beat faster in some moments. There were many exciting moments as well as sad and happy. The characters seemed pretty believable. The author gave good detail on what was happening in a 14 year old teenage mind. The plot was believable because it had realistic stereotypes of what happens in highschool or 9th grade. Freshman year. I would recommend this book to all of my friends because it 19s amazing and I know that my friends would like these kinds of books. I think this book is ages 13-16 since it has some scenes that 10 year olds shouldn 19t really read. I would give this book a 10 out of 10.
So I read Never Ever by Helena Pielichaty which is realistic fiction, humor and a little bit of romance. I read it because I found it in my older sister's old stuff from when she was 14 and since we have similar taste, I decided to give it a try and I really enjoyed it. The book takes time in modern time England. The book is really interesting because it changes the POV (point of view) between the two main characters, Erin and Liam, every couple of chapters so you get to see both sides of the story, which I absolutely loved. The book has 162 pages, which isn't long but it still rocked. The book is about two teens, Erin and Liam, who are both neighbors on the estate. Liam loves it there, but Erin, who just moved there, hates it. It doesn't even have a phone! And to get this straight, Erin hates Liam. But Liam may have something more than just friend feelings for her. And throughout the book, Erin understands that Liam isn't a self in love jerk that he seems, but a caring guy. But of course many things come in their way. I would recommend this book to people over 12 to 17 because it includes a lot of teen (most;y girl) problems. And some teen humor. I give this book a 9 out of 10.
I really enjoyed this book. It's been a while so I don't remember every little bit, but I thought the two main characters were definite opposites that made for a good read. It's not a literacy wonder or anything, but a great (quick) book to read :)
Read this book when I was 13/14 and absolutely loved it! Really disagree with some of the reviews, for me, it was perfect at the age I read it,just a sweet story, for young girls. It doesn't need complicated characters or story lines for an audience on that age!
