3 Side Eyed Stars
It’s probably no surprise that I typically don’t like female bits in my stories anymore, and though this is MMF to make it just a little more tolerable, this for me was like a fantasy and pretty much implausible. However, romantic fiction allows for anything and everything so this just might suit your fancy!
Savannah is a unicorn - a mythical creature who is unusual, rare, or unique.
You see, over the course of 3 books, Savannah has developed a wonderful loving relationship with hot hockey player Garrick. She’s stuck in Boston being the trainer for the Bruins, and he’s stuck in Canada playing hockey and transitioning into owning the Moncton Ice Cats. Savannah, out of the goodness of her heart and her own kink of loving Garrick’s bisexuality, urges him to go after his fellow hockey player Rhian, while they’re separated so sexually healthy Garrick won’t be lonely or horny. Isn’t she just the most fabulous girlfriend ever??? She can totally handle Garrick being with a guy, just not another woman, so it’s all copacetic as long as said boyfriend’s other lover has different body parts, right? It’s perfectly fine if everyone involved is in the know with full disclosure, right? It’s not going to be weird or awkward or upsetting when Rhian is transferred to the Bruins, RIGHT??? Uh huh.
Yep. Each in the know. Each overall ok with it but yes, the emotional turmoil and jealousy and absurdness of the situation’s just too over the top.
Buuuuutt…..this is Wayland.. This is still deeply entrenched in her awesome hockey universe and the lady can write darn good smex and rest assured, there was a lot. Savannah is one damn lucky unicorn. While Garrick's away, the boyfriend and girlfriend will play and ultimately, Garrick loves that they end up falling for each other as well. How convenient!
Again, despite my snark, lovers of MMF should have no problem with this, and I admit that the tidy conclusion still tugged at my heartstrings. Ultimately though, this just solidified for me that feminine touches in my current romance reads hardly do it for me and are just in the way or superfluous no matter how pretty or generous a unicorn they are. You might feel differently, and I send you all the best!

I'm just reviewing the whole series on this one since I read them all back to back.
For me the series gained momentum as it progressed. Each book better than the previous one and this was by far my favorite.
I've never read a triad come together in this fashion and was kind of surprised by how well it worked for me. In the first book, Fair Play, Garrick Leblanc meets and falls in love with Savannah Morrison, who is the athletic trainer for the Moncton Ice Cats. She takes a job in Boston which sets up the events of Two Man Advantage where she encourages Garrick to take a male lovvvaaahhhh.
Savannah's a kinky bitch with a voyeuristic streak a mile wide and I liked her a lot.
Anyhoo, Garrick decides to take her up on the offer thinking that it'll be just sex.
Spoiler alert! Yeah, he falls in love with Rhian Savage, his teammate who then gets picked up by the Bruins and lands...
Wait for it...
In Beantown! With Savannah.
Part of the reason I liked this one the best was the lack of secondary plot line hijinks. The first two had a decidedly Scooby-Dooesque feel minus the Mystery Machine, Velma's awkwardness and, well, Scooby. The "bad guys" were caricaturish and bordered on silly. I probably would've been more inclined to overlook these antics had there been a better balance between the hijinks, the story and the sex.
"Sex isn't love" is a quote from an old movie that sums up my feels on on the whole series but specifically the first two books. The whole series is sex heavy which is totally fine, but out of all three characters Rhian is the only one I feel like I know. I would've preferred ditching the Mystery Machine shenanigans in favor of character development.
He's the most troubled with a difficult past, the most sympathetic of them all but I feel like that's easy pickins in the characterization department, though I can't say I was disaffected. I couldn't help but feel for the guy. I kept pulling for him to just go with his instincts which are solid probably 80+% of the time and that ain't bad odds.
Since half or more of the series is sex I should talk about it some. There are memorable scenes, lots of begging (ding!), someone is hard and in charge often (ding ding!), someone gets manhandled a lot (DING!), there is some dirty talk (ding ding dingity ding!) and all of them are hot for each other and loud about it (DING DING DING! WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!) which translates to the page.
However, it gets very same same-lots of finger prepping (Yawn.) and a distinct lack of oral, aside from cock sucking which I found disappointing.
Calling it saccharine wouldn't be uncalled for either. At times I thought, 'oh, give it a rest already!' but in the end I found myself inexplicably tearing up at their HEA so... I am a sap. Apparently.
I would say that whomever edited this series should maybe try their hand at non-fiction because one-handed editing is a disservice to both the author and the readers.
I'm somewhere between 3-4 stars for the series but I think the deciding factor in my rating it higher is the fact that I know without a doubt that I'll have to read the other books by this author for the secondary characters that were introduced which I'm pretty sure makes me a fangirl.
I would recommend this series to MMF fans who like their romance extra sweet and without a lot of plot or character development.

So glad this trio got everyone on the same page even though throughout this series there were times I wanted to bop Rhian on the head for being an idiot. 🤪 I’m glad the author brought some closure to his childhood and finally gave him the family he so wanted and deserved! 🥰

God, the feels this book put me through...my heart broke over and over again for Rhian, gah I just want to lay on him and hug on him forever!
This book is really a terrific conclusion to Garrick, Rhian, and Savannah's story.
Savannah's family is so wonderful and accepting, something Rhian really needed in his life.
I'm sorry to see it come to and end!

4.5 stars.
This is my favorite MMF triad series, no doubt about it. The first book was MF (Savannah and Garrick), then shifts with MM in the second when Savannah opens the relationship (Garrick and Rhian), before finally concluding with the trio. It was sweet, spicy, and nearly brought me to tears as they found love and family with each other. Unforgettable. I wish the epilogue was set a year or more after, but it was still a heartwarming finale nonetheless.

In the final book of the Hat Trick Series, Garrick, Savannah and Rhian have to learn to navigate this new and unexplored territory. *old timey radio soap announcer voice* How do Savannah and Rhian share Garrick? How do they feel about each other? Who’s watching Rhian? A soapy triad romance...next after these sex scenes. :D
The Good
This series has been a fully developed revelation in menage romance. In previous menage books I’ve read (MMF and MFM), I’ve had a hard time believing in the equality of feelings for all participants and it usually ended up feeling like what it usually is - PWP (porn without plot). I’ve thought that one relationship, whether it be MF or MM, is the “main” one and the additional person is just that - more body parts to play with. In this trilogy, Ms. Wayland took the time to develop each relationship individually so that when they all eventually come together (c’mon - who could resist? :P) it all plays out in such a way that I truly believe they all love each other. That’s a rare thing.
A good portion of this final book is all about Rhian and Savannah connecting with each other, with believable bumps along the way. I almost looked at it as their own romance within the context of their love for Garrick.
Oh, and um, HOT. Triad. Sex.
The Not as Good
As much as I enjoyed the triad sex, I could have done with less of it and more of Rhian’s family story - that part felt rushed and underwhelming with his mother/brother being cardboard villains with little purpose other than to create external tension. As much as I understood Rhian’s emotional neediness, sometimes it was a bit much. Also, while it was cute to integrate Ms. Wayland’s other triad romances, it felt a bit much to have that many triads popping up left and right.
Good series, with erotica and emotional development. It may not be for everyone, but it entertained me lol.

MMF menage. I really enjoyed this look at how Garrick and Savannah, and Garrick and Rhian, moved from being two couples with Garrick in the middle, to a threesome. Garrick's POV is actually the least seen, and Savannah's the most, so this won't appeal to strictly M/M readers, but if you like menage it's good. This is the third in a series, and it can be read as a stand alone, but reading at least the one before it - Two Man Advantage - would probably give it more context.

Loved it! I want more! I want to find out how the family comes together with his grandfather and how new season will come out and how their relationship will develope more. The only small complaint that I had was Rhian's drama did get a little old. I didn't like the fact that they were worried constantly that he was going to leave. But overall I love it!!!

Loved the series. Wish I could just move Rhian in with me and love on him forever! I really liked the brothers. Samantha could write a bunch of great books about them. I hope she does someday!

Generally, I am not a fan of menage since I often find it hard to connect with everyone involved. Yeah well, that did not happen with this book. I truly connected with each person and the supporting cast as well. This was a fun and engaging read that left me with a smile on my face.

My Review:
NOTE: This review will have spoilers from the previous two novels in this series. It's a series that I highly recommend you read and it's helpful to read them in order so you get the full story. If you haven't read book #1 yet, stop reading this review right now and go get it!! You won't regret it. It's a seriously hot, sexy series set around hockey and two (well, actually three) amazing hockey players who find a new definition for family. Every single book in the trilogy has been GREAT, completely riveting read and the whole set will be on my keeper shelf (as soon as the final two are out in paperback).
Now for the specific review about THIS book.... This is the final book in the trilogy about Garrett, Savannah, and Rhian. In book one we saw Garrett and Savannah fall in love. Book two featured Garrett and Rhian's building relationship. And this one combined them all, but I love that it began with Rhian and Savannah.
At the beginning of this book Garrett is still living in New Brunswick while both his lovers are in Boston working for the Bruins. Nothing about the situation is ideal, but it becomes exponentially worse when Rhian suddenly stops talking/communicating with Garrett. Caught in the middle is Savannah. She knows Garrett is hurting because of something to do with Rhian. She works with Rhain and has tried to talk to him and although they used to be friends, they've gotten to a place where talking isn't something they can do. Even though Savannah is okay with Garrett and Rhian, it doesn't make any of this any easier. Rhian is the other man.
But then Savannah realizes that Rhian needs someone to stand by him and she can't just leave him to face things on his own. They find their way to friendship...and I love how the author wrote this. It's awkward as all get out for both of them. They have doubts and moments of jealousy. The whole scenario feels real. But I also love how no matter how awkward and tenuous it all feels that Savannah never backs down. She supports and loves Garrett and she's a friend to Rhian. She needs to be there regardless and she doesn't let Rhian push her away. Throughout this series, I've loved Sav's character...that grew exponentially in this book. She has her doubts, but she never lets that get in the way of taking care of the people that she loves. She puts Garrett and Rhian first always and I loved her for that. She truly doesn't have a selfish bone in her body and the way she made this work for them was incredible.
Then there's Rhian. In book #2 we got a hint of how hard his life was as a child. So much more was revealed about that in this book and I understand why Garrett and eventually Savannah just have to hold him at times. He has moments where he's so fragile...he just needs someone to prop him up and LOVE him. Never have I read a character that needs love as much as he does. There's a single line about that when Garrett finally arrives to join them where Savannah says, "I get it now." She's talking about Rhian and how Garrett fell in love with him. Gah....I loved that. You can't help but fall in love with Rhian's character and need to hug him.
Like I mentioned before, I really like the way this story evolved. Honestly, I could never imagine making a triad work in real life, but this story with these characters felt believable. Their relationships are based on the people and while the sex is hot (whoa, is it ever!!) that's not the basis of why they are there for each other. For all of them, they begin as friends and a support system develops and in the end find themselves as a family and I've loved the journey of getting to watch them get there. It's been gorgeous to read!!
And the good news is...that there will be more coming soon. Other characters have stories coming...you could see the hints of one couple in this one and I cannot wait because the sparks were coming off the page when Rupert and Callum butted heads. Also, if you've ever read the other two menage books by Samantha Wayland (and if you haven't, you need to), both sets of characters make appearances in this book...I LOVED that!!

I highly recommend this book and this series. And I just have to take a moment to call attention to the cover...so freaking hot!!! Yeah, I definitely want this one on my keeper shelf.

I fell into this series by reading Wayland's Out of Her League and getting interested in the threesome in the backstory. I read some of this series then but I think this one is the best because you get the culmination of the relationships Wayland built in the earlier two. She really spends a lot of time developing all sides of menage relationships and thinking through the complications that come up. While they're still kind of utopian (no one ever seems shocked?) at least they acknowledge the anxiety and confusion that comes with going outside of social boundaries. That said, these are also all interesting characters in interesting situations and Wayland writes well. The downsides -- the plot around Rhian and his family is a bit over the top and the sex gets a little excessive (less hot as there is more and more of it). But Wayland is a writer worth checking out.

I felt like there were two major plots in this book, and the one on which I feel Wayland should have spent more time, i.e., Rhian's real family and coming to some sort of accomodation there was the one she spent the least about of time on, especially since it seemed out of character for Rhian to accept Chelsea so easily.
I also felt the cancer scare plot line lasted too long and generally fizzled, but maybe it worked for others.
I am glad Rhian and Savannah and Garrick all got their happily ever after however.

Loved, loved, loved this series! Samantha Wayland took her time in telling this story, using three full length books to get to the finish line, and it was well worth the wait. I thoroughly enjoyed the many layers to this story. Each of the three main characters was a joy to get to know. Great writing and great characters equal a fantastic story line!!! I am now going back to read Ms. Wayland's other titles!!

Enjoyed this as much as the previous two in the series. There were some editing problems and crazy coincidences here that would have really annoyed me if I didn't like the characters so much. I do wish the heroine and man #1 had communicated a little better about bringing in man #2, but it all worked out. I do hope the author writes more in this world; there was a hint of a subplot in this book and the previous one that never got followed up on, and I'd like to know what's up with that.

This one actually started out well. They started out in a place where there are two relationships slowly moving together. I thought the beginning of the transition was believable. But it lost its drive once again because of sex. Dear lord everything is about sex. So much skipping for me again.
I'm sad to say that again this MMF wasn't what I hoped to be.
But to be fair the plot was better done in this book and parts were really well done. I'd say around 2.5 stars for me.

Read this series!
I read the 2 books following this series first and then came back to the start. These 5 stories (6 if you count the Christmas novella) are ones I will reread over and over. I'm hoping there will be more in the future. Samantha makes you feel so much for her characters that you want to know what happens next. And the hot sex scenes.........

4.5 Stars! Great ending to a great series! The story was really good with a couple of plot twists that were interesting. We got POV from Savannah, Rhian and Garrick. Family and what it means to be part of one was explored. And there was lots and lots of very hot sex! I throughly enjoyed this book. Highly recommended!

Great end to the trilogy. I really loved Savannah, Garrick and Rhian. I also hope that Samantha Wayland writes Rupert and Callum's story and does a follow up with Chelsea.

I held off reading this one as long as I could because it's the final book in the trilogy... And that gives me a sad.
I had been waiting 2 books for this sequence of events to happen. I loved it. (Honestly, book 1 I had the thought that it should totally be a m/m/f story when Garrick was flirting with Rupert.)
I have to admit, Rhian got a little too emotional at times, but it was consistent with the last book, and consistent with his issues. However saying that, my heart broke so many times for him. Just wanted to scoop him up and give him a hug.
Oh my god his mother is a royal bitch. Honestly, I can't believe there are actually people like that in the universe.
The rest of it, I loved it. Loved the Morrison Clan, and their team hockey jerseys.
Chelsea didn't even bother me.
I am actually sad that this trilogy is over.

... but on the other hand, it kind of felt like all of them got shoved into being connected, and only Home and Away made sense (since it's Callum and Rupert).

The idea of this book was good but the execution could’ve been better. Garrick became a pretty flat character and his whole personality revolved around Rhian and Savannah. Savannah also became a completely different person. One of the main parts to her character was that she didn’t like to be treated differently because of her gender and she prided herself on being an independent woman with a successful career. Now she’s talking about how much she loves being manhandled and she’s also, yet again, dating a member of the team she works for?? She didn’t even consider the consequences of dating Rhian this time either, the way she had with Garrick. I get that she’s learned to just let herself love, but also book 1 Savannah would at least think about how this might backfire. I was also disappointed in Rhian’s character development. He spent the whole book being insecure about his place in this relationship. I get that it was supposed to be a source of conflict in this book, but it just made him seem like a shitty person when he constantly disregarded everything Garrick and Savannah told him. It kept bothering me how he was the only one fighting this relationship. It seemed unrealistic that neither of the other two ever had any issues or insecurities, and it was unfair that they were always having to reassure Rhian. The book started to get so repetitive, it was frustrating.
Overall, I liked the idea of the book, and the storyline was good. There were also some pretty good sex scenes. It was mainly just the characters themselves that could’ve used a little more development.

Rhian is now in Boston playing for the Bruins where Savannah is the trainer. Garrick is stuck in Moncton trying to rebuild the Ice Cats. Not a good situation for any of them. Rhian breaks off with Garrick with no word and Savannah wants to know why. She will not allow Rhian to go without a real good reason. Rhian is still haunted by his past and soon his past will catch up with him. Are the three of them strong enough to deal with all that comes their way?

Watching them come to terms with their relationship and letting other people into their private world made for good reading. Definitely the best of the bunch. No overdramatic, violent climax. The sex was hot as hell, even if I got a bit turned around re who was where and who was touching what. Rhian’s insecurities got a bit repetitive, but I liked finally seeing where they come from. Savannah’s family was a nice addition (do they all have their own books in some other series?). A bit fantastical in how common and accepted thruples are in this universe, but tbh I didn’t mind that.

A+++ for building a fun triad relationship, but the Villainous Woman in the background of this one left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I do appreciate Wayland's commitment to what she's writing; it's always 100% what it says on the metaphorical tin, and I appreciate that in romance particularly.

This series is finally starting to look up! This was cute… the start kinda felt like Savannah and Rhian were cheating on Garrick (even though they weren’t). Idk the ménage à trois trope isn’t really my thing so it all just felt a bit iffy. I did enjoy this more than I thought I would. The ending was really sweet. Rhian finally found his family.
