When Ben Wyatt and his gang held up the bank in Adobe, Arizona, Wyatt was captured before they could make good their escape. Sheriff Willard Beal and a deputy had been gunned down in the raid and the only man left to guard the brutal bank robber was the one remaining deputy, young Rick Lander. Judge Rice was soon summoned and he in turned asked Jason Brand, an ex-US Marshal, to take up the silver star. With Wyatt locked in the cells and his men close by, Brand was the only man who could get Adobe out of real trouble ... NEIL HUNTER Neil Hunter is a pseudonym of the prolific Lancashire-born writer Michael R. Linaker. As Neil Hunter, Mike wrote two classic western series, BODIE THE STALKER and JASON BRAND. I really enjoy Jason Brand. He's single-minded, tough as old boots and very likeable. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series.

ROAD TO YUMA

Well we all know that Jason Brand was kicked out of the U.S. Marshall. Every time he thinks about it, he gets a bad taste in his mouth. Now he's in jail for public intoxication, this happened in Adobe, New Mexico sentenced for fourteen days.
While he's in jail-sleeping it off-the bank is robbed by Ben Wyatt's gang two bank employees are murdered. Now Adobe's Sheriff Beal is murdered during this time, the gang set him up...and he died in alley..So the town's council ask Brand to temporarily take the job of sheriff..actually it's a bribe of eight thousand dollars so what the heck he takes the offer. Now the leader is caught after the bad k heist went wrong. Now Brand patrols the town with Deputy Lander, while he's keeping the town safe, they try to back shoot him a bunch of tough cowboy bullies lead by a man named Rimbaud, who attempts to break Wyatt out of jail to hang him. Well while jailbreak is happening, Deputy Lander is knifed by Rimbaud, which lead to the death of Deputy Lander..sad..then Judge Rice is back shoot..bad..so now Brand has a dilemma if Wyatt is to be tried the town will have to wait a Circuit Judge is contacted. So Brand decides to take both prisoners to Yuma..a two day ride thru deserted rocky areas, and a salt flat before he reached Yuma. Well Wyatt's gang tries to rescue him, and that leaves Brand shot in the hip. Now two nasty vile men, and Brand. This didn't stop Brand, he transports Wyatt to Yuma jail and while there he's approached by Frank McCord, Director of Justice(special agents)which today is the FBI..Now I say this is GREAT.. you know that old adage, when one door closes, another door opens....can't keep a good man down..so partners keep your canteens full/watch your back trail..
