That was the thing about gods. They made heroes and they made monsters.
I do not care for bargains, I do not care for wishes and magic. Give me one wish and it will be for you.
Prince of Endless Tides is emotional, sexy, and full of magic. It’s fresh and imaginative with all the best bits of The Little Mermaid made into Alderson’s own. Ernest and Killian gripped me with sharp claws and tentacles that would not let me go even after the last page was turned.
The romance was a bit of a slow burn, but the turnout was explosive and raw and had just the right amount of Disney charm. Our main characters carry heavy burdens, but learn to manage them by leaning on each other. I am a big fan of healing trauma through love, and Ernest and Killian have managed to scratch that itch.
My only gripe with this book is that it left me wanting more. I want to know more about the world. I want to know more about the Gods and their followers. I’d love to even just know more about Ernest and Killian and their lives before each other. All of these things are mentioned briefly, but I’d have loved if they were expanded upon. Alderson built a world that is enthralling and full of lore, and barely utilized it.
This was my first dip into the Darkmourn Universe, and I am definitely a fan now. I intend on reading the rest of the books in the series, and look forward to what Alderson will write next. If you’re like me and have never read a Darkmourn book before, I think this is the perfect starting point. I urge you to try it—you may just find a new favorite.
