Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome (Mr TDH for short )...well that is Maddi Bull's (Yes Maddi from Diary of an Almost Cool Girl) nickname for Richard Jones. Follow his diary entries and see how he feels about Maddi and everything else going on in his life.Sometimes life can be hard, especially if you have recently lost your Mom in a car accident. But Maddi brings a smile to Mr. TDH's face.Richard discovers his Mom's fob watch, an old family watch that has been passed down through the generations. He has been told stories by his Grandma about her adventures. Could her stories actually be true? Does the fob watch have something to do with her stories? Will he explore them or will he follow his Dad's advice and leave it be?A perfect book for young girls aged from 9 to 12 years of age.

Loved this great book. It is definitely for the older group of kids because at the beginning, Richard's mother dies. This author writes about how he handles his mom's death in a true manor writing in his diary about it helps him to cope. There are a lot of nice things and a lot of boy things that happen to him during this time. I believe boys and girls would enjoy this set so I highly recommend for everyone. He is into computers and his dad is into football and baseball. They don't have a lot in common. Richard decided to clean up his mom's room a bit. He found pictures and things that he made for her. This made him smile. He then found a watch with a letter attached. His mother explained about this family heirloom and that she hopes he figures out the special thing it does. A new girl comes to school, Madonna. James sister Gretel and Madonna become friends. There is a contest to go to a water park. The three of them enter. Richard gets to use his computer skills to make a poster. Do they win? How does he save a small boy in 1911? What? Yes, he does. But, how? What I always say. You get the fun of reading and finding out. Yippee!! I purchased this book on Amazon for free. Lucky me! You might be able to, also.
The writing is ok - however there is far too much going on for such a short read. It would work just fine without the time travelling. I would prefer if the time travelling element was a book in itself rather than lumbered in with other situations such as the fact that Richard likes one of the girls in his class (she also likes him by all accounts) and the fact that he has lost his mother. I think it is good that the short read has tackled an important issue of a child losing his parent - I would have liked to read more about this rather than about the situation with Maddi and the time travelling element.
This book is good for my daughter to read over the summer. I will buy the series of Mr. TD and H and also Julia Jones. I recommend this book to age 11 and up.
I'm a nerd and all, and I've read a lot of books but believe me when I say that Diary of Mr. TDH is the best book I ever read I am going to read book 2 that's a fact
