Wary but tempted, she struggles to get through the summer without stripping herself of her virtue, and losing her heart to Sebastian Vice—a man so beautiful and broken, he will hurt her as much as he will love her.

Under the blazing sun and amidst the sultry heat of their forbidden desires and secret fears, will Cassandra find the love that will change her life forever? Or will she face the punishment of falling for a wicked Vice?

Wrought by secrets and scars, this is a story of two people who hunger darkly and desperately for a love they are strangers to—a love that endures, hopes and sets them free.

Author of Virtue and Vice and The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield

I started writing when I didn't like the way some of my Sweet Valley books ended. I rewrote them. Before I knew it, I was writing my own stories, handing them out to my friends in class. They were written on spiral notebooks with a sturdy pencil. I still have most of them to this day.

While I enjoy many books, I write romance. Currently, I'm writing New Adult romance. I write highly-opinionated but often innocent heroines who face off infuriating but irresistible alpha males. They might be sometimes sprinkled with a touch of a fairy tale.

I love the author's writing, I really do. But that doesn't hide the fact that the characters suck. Reading it after The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield, one of my favourites, I barely finished this book. Cassandra was... dumb. Sebastian, he never grew up. He was in his thirties, but behaved like an immature teenager.

Their relationship was toxic. He was way too controlling. I'm not against the age gap but she was 17 when he was 29. She obviously was naive but he, he was worse. Even at 22, she couldn't make her own decisions. Cassandra was a walking contradiction, she spewing out worldly knowledge in one chapter and all that stuff about how she grew up earlier than the people her age and in the next chapter, she's too naive and dumb.

There was minimum character development when it came to them in a relationship together. He cheated on her minutes after they broke up because she thought he had already cheated on her(i hope this makes sense). His excuse, for not clearing up the misunderstanding was and I quote, "I didn't want to be the only one hurting."

He kept away the boys who wanted to date Cassandra in the four years they were separated but when Cassandra asked him if he dated/slept with anyone, his response was, "I am a man and I have needs." Disgusting. He controlled her life for four dang years without her realizing. I mean how naive can one be. She started working in his company thinking he won't recognize her four years later and is still pining after him and hasn't moved on when he clearly cheated on her. Then on the first day of her job, she gets a PROMOTION? When she already got a nice house with walls painted with her favourite colours. I mean what? She thinks it's what she deserves, I mean gurl *rolling my eyes*.

Also, before I forget to mention, Sebastian proposed her when she was 18 and they had been together for like a month or two and had lashed out when she had refused because she was too young.*smh*

I'm tired for now but will add more later.

This was a rollercoaster of emotions. I loved the heroine she was a gem. He technically cheated on her and again when they were apart he wasn’t celibate eventhough it was a drunken mistake. Otherwise it would’ve been a 5 star read for me.

" You know , Virtue, yesterday I did it again ..."

" What's now, Vice ? Did you use that reprehensible word, again ? "

" Worse ..."

" Oh my... Don't tell me. You tied the can to the cat's tail again ! "

" Noo, Virtue. I disobeyed one of the Lord's ten commandments .."

" Holy shit ! I'm already stunned. The same ? "

" Yyyyep.. I coveted my neighbor's wife, again. "

" Listen, Vice. That's not something to be proud of. "

" Oh, come on, Virtue. Just a harmless thought. Besides, have you seen her ? She's like a walking Proustian masterpiece, which is only waiting for me to discover its depths.."

" Vice, just think about it. You think Proust would have approved your... fantasies ? "

" Oooh , absolutely. Imagine, if Swann hadn't coveted Odette, we wouldn't have half the drama in " In Search of Lost Time ". It just have to be with a dash of wit, like any true Proustian hero. "

" Well.. I can't contradict you, here.."

" You know, just as he used to talk about the effect milkmaids' huge breasts had on him. Brilliantly. '

" Vice...you read too much. "

" Well, the Lord doesn't specify anything in this sense, right ? "

The author's a really good one - Ninya has this way with words that will keep you reading even if you don't like some other aspect of the way the novel was written.

That being said, although she's so good with words, I faced some struggle finishing this book. I wanted to, but at the same time things were getting so repetitive that I couldn't find it in me. I had to push myself and I finally managed to finish it on the third day.

Frankly, I didn't like Cassie. In a way I guess that's what put me off in the first place - the book was basically centered around three or four unfortunate events, which were pretty much the same thing happening over and over again. I got tired of reading about the same dilemmas over and over again.

TMMM was way better than V&V, and if it was on goodreads I'd give that one four stars. But V&V remains with two, just barely. When she posts the rest of the cobalt bay billionaires novels, we'll see how those go.

Virtue and Vice reminds me of the classic 'Beauty and Beast' at many points. There is the virgin, doe-eyed Cassandra who is left at the mercy of the monstrous billionaire, Sebastian Vice. As the story progresses, she turns into his Virtue and he becomes her vice. Throw in some twists and mysteries and you have a pretty good story. Great love stories are never easy rides.

The intense writing and all the poetry were my favorite parts. The book was addictive and I couldn't put it down. It was really amazing. I fell in love with Seb and Cassie. Sometimes, they were infuriating but I couldn't give up on them. The author has great writing style. I haven't read a book as good as this in some time now.

More sexually charged than TMMM, but I was weirdly cool with it. The main character Cassandra is wonderful, but I couldn't help comparing her to Charlotte.

I still thoroughly enjoyed Sebastian and Cassandra's love story, but I wouldn't mind reading the story from Seb's point of view.

Note to author: Nickname to Sebastian is Bash not Seb.

The epilogue was so swoon worthy I almost died, but I still prefered Brand's epilogue better.

I love how the plot was structured in a way that there was a balance between angst and calmness. These emotions are also paralleled in the characters, Sebastian and Cassandra. Although the former seems to be more angsty while the latter is calm and composed, it is amusing to witness some scenes showcase Cassandra just ranting in anger and frustration resulting in Sebastian's soberness as he attempts to ease her tensions.

However, with such a plot build-up, often writers forget their book's main purpose/meaning and the plot gets side-tracked. I did feel like some parts were slightly unnecessary and didn't really contribute to the main purpose of the book. For example, at the female lead's friend's house party, she gets drugged and assaulted. While this scene, as a solo, was amazingly written with minor details and relatable to many readers, I wonder if it really added any significant value to the overall story structure.

On the other hand, the comeback of Marcus in Cassandra's life was an amazing turning point in the story and I loved watching the two characters interact with each other. Their chemistry and friendship bond is so pleasing to read that all of us, female readers, wished we had such a good guy best friend. I also loved the fact that they stayed as good friends meeting each other, hanging out, rather than them dating to just spite the male lead and make him all jealous, possessive and overly crazy.

Overall, despite my slight aversion to the romance genre, I really enjoyed this book because it wasn't all just smut, there was a proper storyline, build-up and wonderful character development. I would surely recommend this book to anyone who wants more romance book suggestions.

I can't wait to read the rest of the Cobalt Bay Billionaires series and see what they have got!

"📚✨ Virtue and Vices by Ninya Tippett takes you on a sizzling journey under the scorching sun of Cobalt Bay. 🔥 Young and spirited Cassandra collides with the enigmatic Sebastian Vice in a tale of forbidden desires and hidden scars. Tippett weaves a captivating narrative, leaving you torn between questioning if Vice is the predator or protector. 💔

In this summer saga, the characters are not just swoon-worthy; they're magnetic, drawing you into a world of secrets and scars. 😍 Can Cassandra resist the allure of Vice's broken beauty and safeguard her virtue, or will she succumb to the irresistible pull of a love as dark as it is desperate? 🌅

With every turn of the page, Virtue and Vices unveils a story where love is both the remedy and the punishment. Ninya Tippett masterfully captures the essence of Cobalt Bay Billionaires, delivering a tale that's as hot as the sun-soaked setting and as enthralling as the characters it portrays.💫

For years this book had been my favorite, my standard for all romance books and every ideal hero. A character similar to Sebastian Vice? I already love him. When I read this book, i was very young, and I didnt grasp certain aspects of the story, I was only busy romanticizing it.

However, after some rereads, a lot of contemplation, becoming a seasoned reader and doing some growing up, I realized there were so many things that were wrong in this book. Because of this book I actually loved the age gap trope. Now? Not so much.

Sebastian Vice seems almost perfect. He is a powerful man who loves fiercely. I guess thats the best part of him. But as the days passed, this rose colored lenses that i used to view him disintegrated. I am not going into a full blown rant. I dont hate this book and I cant even if I wanted to because this book reminds me of the early days of when I started reading romance. I feel nostalgic thinking about these charcaters, of Sebastian for whom I was totally crazy about. The writing is phenomenal. Ninya Tippett is an exceptionally talented writer. But her over the top, possessive and controlling male leads are not my preference anymore. Well, except Brandon Maxfield. He is something special.

I will just mention one dialogue this book that bothers me so much now. When I first read it, it didnt bother me but now if somebody ever said that to me, I would never see that guy's face again. Sebastian and Cassandra were separated for 4 years. While Cassandra thought she lost him forever, Sebatian was plotting to get her back. He was just giving her space. He gave her 4 years to attend college and be independent. So while he was waiting to get back together with the love of his life, what does he do? He hooks up with models. Why? His justification- "I am a man and I have needs."
Fuck you and your needs. 4 years. You could not wait for this much time? And you say you love her. Yes the way he won her over was too sweet. Of course Cassandra gave in. Sweet talks, poetry and handcrafted murals, how could a girl resist? Like I mentioned, I dont hate Sebastian. There are good parts of him that I still love. But he is not for me anymore.

Also, I hated another thing in this book. Every time something happened, if Cassandra saw Sebastian in a compromising situation, she would think of the worst and literally run. As far as I remember, she ran 3 times. 3 times! Without talking or communicating. I hate when characters dont just talk it out, the problem could be resolved in minutes. So the first time she ran was when she came to Sebastian to say that she is going to marry him after she already rejected him. She came to penthouse, he was shirtless and his ex was wearing his shirt, Cassandra got one look and ran and never looked back for 4 years lol. what difference does it make? He went ahead and slept with the ex anyways. Jerk. The second incident, she saw him and the same ex talking intimately at a party. What she did? She ran. Again. Third incident, she comes to mend fences, sees two half naked women in his room and bolts again. Please just talk it out like mature adults for once. Not that I am defending Sebastian. This guy turns to sex every time Cassandra breaks up with him. Does not matter if he goes through it or not.

Anyways, that is what I remember so far because its been such a long time. This book still holds a special value in my heart, its just that I dont love it as much as I used to.

Virtue and Vice begins when Cassie is forced to spend the summer with a strange named Sebastian. She never would have expected everything that happened to happen, but it's a summer for a lot of learning for her. And Sebastian may be older than her, but he feels the same way. Neither of them know how to deal with the feelings they have, and mistakes will be made. But they hope to come out strong in the end.

**May Contain Mild Spoilers** You have been warned!
This book started out great in the first half of it! I really enjoyed Sebastian and Cassie together. They were great. I did not like the whole possibility of cheating in this book. I won't go into details, but that really ruined it for me. And it didn't make a lot of sense to me either. I felt like Sebastian shouldn't have been like that because he didn't want to be like his father. Other than that the second half of the book start out pretty good too. But I really hated out it felt like Cassie was playing games. I understood that she had to change, but I hated how that part of her changed, it made her into a heroine I didn't like all that much.

It does end in a very nice HEA though, so that was really good. But it is for sure an emotional roller coaster.

It managed to keep me up at night. Was able to finish it at a go. Amazing way with words with near to perfect potrayal of emotions and expressions. The lines, very easily tugs at your heart and you feel the pain and happiness of each moment perfectly. Beautiful poems and beautiful lines. A bit fast paced but I'm not complaining. That's how I like my reads. Although the story talks of an instant attraction but I would have preferred a 'gradual falling in love' process. It had started quite abruptly with much emphasis on lust, not love. That had felt empty. Other than that, beautiful writing and let's you experience many emotions. Keeps you interested till the end.

This is one of the first books I've read from Miss Ninya. First of all, this is brilliant. Although the age difference gave a chill down my spine (seriously, this is straight up inappropriate) the idea of the story is unique and captivating. The male protagonist emanated a strong, possessive streak that many female romance readers find attractive while the female protagonist was a determined, independent young lady. Ninya Tippett's writing style will surely make you want to read some more. The moment I finished the first chapter, I couldn't stop reading the next until five in the morning. The story of Sebastian and Cassandra will always have a special place in my heart.

I love Ninya Tippett's writing :) A great romance with amazing characters and a great plot - sexy, funny, charming and heartwarming - this book has it all. I love the development of the relationships between characters, and the 'real' quality they possess - the characters aren't blind, which i love.

This is a really good romance that I had the privilege of reading on Wattpad. This author has written a couple of stories that I really enjoyed reading. My favorite of hers is the Olie Vance series. However, they don't have it up on Good Reads. Anyways, Excellent Author. This story and others by her are well worth the read!
