I made it to chapter 4 then stopped. The two main characters are completely unlikable. The male park ranger is either angry or smug and the FBI Profiler is angry, rude and starts insulting the rangers the second she meets them. She is literally shrieking by the end of the 3rd chapter as the male lead sits back and smiles smugly. This happens shortly after she slaps him! As employees of the federal government both of these individuals would have been disciplined and the story hasn't even really started yet.

Love Me Anyway had an interesting and well-developed plot, well-rounded characters, and steady pacing. Overall (as long as I could manage to ignore the constant repetitive grammar and punctuation errors) it was a very enjoyable read. What the book didn't have is an editor! n the first 2/3 of the book, I noted only the incidents that were terribly obvious - and had a total of more than 150 notes! The book had few content-related errors - inconsistent tone and confusing sentence structures. The majority of the hundreds of errors were simple punctuation goof ups that made rereading for clarity a necessity. Knowledge of these four punctuation rules would have taken care of at least 100 of the errors: (1)The clauses of a compound sentence can be combined by using a semicolon between them, or they can be combined by using a comma and a coordinating conjunction after the first clause. (2)There is no comma between the two parts of a compound verb. (3) An apostrophe is used to show possession. The apostrophe and letter s are added to the end of a singular word or a plural word that does not end in the letter s. If the word is plural and ends with the letter s, the writer just adds an apostrophe. (4) If a sentence begins with a conditional clause, that clause is followed by a comma.

*SPOILER*

This could have been a good story but the writers couldn't seem to make their minds up whether it should be a thriller or a love story! The romance was rushed and totally unbelievable while the criminal part was amateurish to say the least. Why would the FBI leave a crime scene if the chances are that the criminal was still there? Sniffer dogs would have found him. And wouldn't they have checked all the hospitals and emergency centers for anyone going in with a gunshot wound in their shoulder? After all they knew in which part of his body he had been shot! I certainly won't be bothering with downloading the other book.

This was much better than I thought it would be, a nice surprise! The love story was pretty right on and cheesy, but it was okay.

Forest Ranger Greyson Beauchene is Park Ranger for Denali National Park and a serial killer has left his mark of a sealed casket in a secluded area of the park found by a group of three men hikers. Beauchene contacts the Governor who in turn contacts the FBI who sends Profiler Aspen O’Connell and two agents named Shayne Maddox and Tim Duncan to the crime scene. Greyson and Aspen immediately clash over Aspen’s abrasively rude manners and demanding orders to him and his associates Grant Mulvane, an Alaskan Native tracker and Tony Sampezi, an emergency survival skills expert.

While the combined teams hunt the ‘Evergreen Killer’ gathering evidence to apprehend the perpetrator, the turbulent working relationship between Greyson and Aspen begins to smooth out the rough edges as the Evergreen Killer changes horses in the middle of the stream causing chaos and confusion in the FBI investigation. The serial killer decides he wants to add Aspen to his list of victims because she is closing in on finding his true identity and his reasons for the slayings of his victims that eventually puts the team in danger.

JL Redington’s novel if full of mystery, suspense, and action adventure as she takes you through the efforts of a determined FBI profiler who is the best in her profession to capture the deranged killer. You will not be disappointed with this thriller as you constantly turn the pages to see what is happening next with Greyson and Aspen or Grant, the Native tracker, who can smell the scent of the Evergreen Killer. I recommend to all thriller and suspenseful mystery aficionados to read this novel when you have the time to read straight through because you will not want to put it down until the end (at least, that is what happened to me).

~~I was gifted this in exchange for an honest review~~

I found this book hard to get in to. I had to start it several times because I was easily distracted and was unable to get into the book. When I finally did get into the book, it took it some time to pick up the speed. After it did that, it was a fast ride! There were twists and turns and hills, and mountains that I didn't see coming.

The book has beautiful scenery in it. It takes place in Alaska, in the Denali National Forrest. J.L. describes the area very well. She paints a picture in your mind that you are able to see the landscape of the mountains and the way that she tells you about this, I believe that she at up with the Denali mountains to get an accurate description. I was able to picture everything that she was talking about. It makes me want to go up to Alaska and see the mountains.

The story follows a park ranger and a FBI profiler as they track a serial killer that leaves coffins in the middle of the park. They go on a chasing spree trying to stay ahead of the killer, but he is always ahead of them.

I found this book to be well written, and a good story. There is a second book after this one, and I want to read that as well. Pick up this book! You won't be disappointed at all!

This book has a LOT wrong with it. It centers around places in Alaska, but i really doubt that the author has even been there, so little is said about the places and scenery. When the author does mention things, they are often wrong or implausible. At one point in the story the distance from Fairbanks to Denali National Park is traveled in a matter of minutes by helicopter (a 120 mile distance). Things like that really ruin a story. The story itself is a murder mystery. A male park ranger and a female FBI profiler team up to stop a serial killer and along the way, they fall in love. This is the second thing i disliked about the book. The love story part of the book is a sort of throwback to the old Humphrey Bogart/Bacall or Hepburn model, where the tough, manly man has to tame the strong-willed, opinionated woman. In real life and in this day and age, that kind of behavior would be met with charges of sexual harassment, NOT with swooning. It was offensive. The only redeeming part of this book was the pace of the plot. It moved along nicely and i could bounce over the parts that really annoyed me because i really did want to know what was going to happen next.

Tiffany's Review:
WOW!! A murder mystery romance...doesn't get much better than that! This book made me want to plan a trip to Alaska, in hopes of meeting a handsome park ranger;) When Ranger Beauchene got the call that some hikers had found a coffin in his woods of Denali National Park he was shocked! Greyson loved Denali and had dedicated his life to protecting the park. Greyson knew he would be having to work with the FBI and a profiler on this case because it looked to be the work of a serial killer!!!! What Greyson didn't know was that he would quickly fall for Apsen O'Connell the blunt and beautiful profiler. This one was a real page turner!!! I had to keep reading to finding out who the killer was and who was helping him. Plus the tension between Aspen and Greyson made for some great moments in the story! I give this one 4.5 stars! I will for sure check out the next book in the Passion in the Park series: Cherish Me Always

Another good crime thriller, with some romance thrown in. I found the lead female character a little acidic and hard to like to begin with, but the unravelling of her character throughout the book changed my mind. The psychology behind the characters is deep, and often frightening but very interesting.

Some good twists and turns and hard to put down once I started, definately awaiting a follow up with great interest :)

Loved the book cover too!

The by play between Aspen and Grayson was great.

The story was very good, the characters were different. They melded well. But they let the killer get away. I don't want them to fight off the same killer again.

Mystery romance with a twist

Profiling a serial killer results in many twists & turns. It's nice to see characters that have flaws, and are not so focused on themselves that they get lost in romance.

Has potential

This is a new to me author and I liked the story. The characters were a little hard to take as they were abrasive to each other. I don’t think the storyline needed the romance and could have stood as a suspense just find. All in all a good read with a cliffhanger.

What did I think of the story:
OMG I loved it, it had me hooked from the first page, and it held my attention though out the book , I loved Greyson Beauchene and his team, but as for Aspen O’Connell the first part of the book I hated her so much that I kept think that she was belligerent, unreasonable, malicious, a control freak, rudely , and I mean that and that was just the first part of the book, finally the 2nd part of the book she began to grow on me after while , it was like she was finally showing her true personality , the one where she cared about people and not just herself,as for the ending I loved it , loved how it ended and can't wait to pick up book 2 of this series.

A serial killer has been on the loose in America's National Parks ... now he has his sights on Alaska's scenic Denali National Park. Can Denali Head Ranger Greyson Beauchene and FBI Profiler Aspen O'Connell work together to bring the evil killer to justice while danger lurks and they struggle to handle their growing feelings for each other?

In Love Me Anyway, the first book of the Passions in the Park series, author JL Redington weaves an exciting romantic suspense tale that transports the reader to the rugged beauty of Alaska in search of a serial killer who has been leaving his calling card at various American National Parks, with his latest evil adventure set in Denali National Park.

With a perfect balance of mystery, suspense, humor, and romance, the reader can't help but become engrossed in Park Ranger Greyson Beauchene and FBI Profiler Aspen O'Connell's desperate search to bring the serial killer to justice before his evil killing spree can strike again. And if tracking down a serial killer isn't enough for Greyson and Aspen, add in an undeniable spark of mutual attraction and chemistry into the mix, and there's bound to be a struggle to handle the danger and romance that binds them together.

Love Me Anyway is a fast paced, richly descriptive and riveting story that easily draws the reader in with the drama, suspense, intensity, and danger of hunting down a serial killer, while providing a sensual romance mixed with witty humor that keeps the reader engaged and turning the pages. The intriguing twists and turns that unfold in the story is like a thrilling roller coaster ride that has the reader holding their breath while trying to guess what will happen next. But alas, the author teases her readers with a surprising cliff hanger conclusion that leaves them in suspense and wanting more. The story continues in Cherish Me Always, the second book in the series.

When I started Love Me Anyway I was enjoying the story, but it didn't grip me right away. After about 20% though things pick up and I was completely engrossed in the story.

The story starts off with Greyson in Denali getting a call that a body has been found. Quickly it looks like the serial killer who has been leaving bodies in national parks so he calls in the FBI. When Aspen arrives she is so rude and demanding, but Greyson just has fun with her. She is used to everyone just doing what she says, but Greyson just doesn't. It was quite fun to read. There were, however, these cheesy super romance things thrown into this section which were odd. They didn't really go with the rest of the writing. It was fun arguing and stuff, then Greyson would think oh man but her lips are so whatever and it was just like wait. What is going on? It just didn't go with the other writing and seemed like it came from a different book. It quickly reconciled though so it wasn't that bad.

Once all of the FBI and crime scene investigators are on sight things start to get pretty good. The killer has changed up some things, and watching all the different people work on the scene. It was interesting watching the tracker pick up on things, and how Aspen finally realizes that other people could be of help to her.

Greyson and Aspen are obviously attracted to each other. They quickly realize that they need to focus on the killer and not be distracted by each other, especially as the killer is getting closer and closer to them. There was a good mix of romance and suspense in the book and the end was quite exciting. One thing I didn't like that much was the very very end. There will be another book with the same killer, but the way he escapes is a little...it felt a little like a letdown to me. I don't mind if he does get away and you continue the story in the next book, but I wanted a better get away. I still look forward to reading the next book.

Are you a fan of serial killer stories but also have a yearning for romance in your books ? If so, then you will enjoy Passions in the Park Book #1 Love Me Anyway as we meet Park Ranger Greyson whose baby is the Denali Forest Park where he works, it is his pride and joy and his life. When campers phone in something odd out in the woods ,a wooden sealed casket his flags go up immediately as recently there have been several murders including national parks and wooden caskets. Known as only the Evergreen Killer, he has struck females mostly runaways , killed them and placed them inside a wooden coffin that he has built and leaves them for somebody to discover. Unsure of what they are dealing with the FBI arrives with their criminal profiler Aspen. Now Aspen reminded me of the character Bones as she has no manners but it isn't that she is necessary rude she is just so concentrated on her job. Greyson, though does not have any happiness for people who don't use manners and will soon put Aspen in her spot after she treats him and his men bad. What happens though that after time , the pair discover that they really aren't that different people ? Can this pair not only solve the crime and discover who the killer is but also find passion and their soulmate ?

As I like my mysteries quite fast-paced , this book started off getting really really good and then about 3/4 the way through it lost a bit of it's momentum which is why I am rating it a 3 instead of a 4.

Find out in Love Me Anyway by JL Redington, Book #1 in The Passions in the Park series - the perfect combination of Romance and Murder Suspense.

When a coffin is discovered in Alaska's Denali National Park, Ranger Greyson Beauchene knows it could possibly be a serial Killer who has left the same calling card and dubbed the Evergreen Killer. Greyson does everything by the book protecting the site and calling in the FBI. At no time does Greyson expect to find a pint sized profiler whose manners are less than tactful and who he is enjoying getting under her skin.

Aspen O'Connell is used to being in charge, she doesn't have time for small conversations and courtesies just trying to catch the killer before he becomes elusive again. She never expected to be sparring with Greyson, nor that there is an attraction neither can deny. When it looks like the killer is closer than they expected, everyone must work together in order to capture the killer.

Exciting new series by J.L. Redington. Action packed from the very beginning and the book does not slow down until the very end. Loved Greyson, he is aghast initially with Aspen and while most men would keep their heads down, Greyson just speaks his mind. I can't wait to see what happens next with this thrilling series.

A good one and first of a series called "Passion in the Park". Greyson is a NPS Ranger, whose preserve is Denali in Alaska. He calls her his love. When some hikers find a gruesome relic in the park, Greyson sets up a perimeter and waits for the FBI Serial Killer Task Force to arrive. It does, in the persons of Ms. Aspen O'Connell and two others. She is a very tough nut to crack, and Greyson welcomes the challenge. The killer, meanwhile is fixated on young girls. This one is suspenseful and brief, with promises of more series to come. There are some good characters here, too.

What do I have to say about this book? INTENSE! Whoa. Unexpected. Twists and turns, some dark places in the minds of a serial killer...yeah the suspense is so ramped up. Had my heart pounding quite a few times. Aspen, the leading character...kinda has no filter at times. She just says things and man do they just fly out! I also enjoyed Greyson's character. There's a lot of ups and downs in the story, but plenty to keep the reader engaged. There are times I had to look back because of some inconsistencies, or at least they seemed it to me. And that ending? Dang it! Yep, I want more. The book has a bit of a slow start, and the inconsistencies I saw, but other than that, it really kept me going!

I picked this book because of Denali. Its one of those mystical mountain ranges that I am enamored with. And the author does the Denali national park justice in calling her by the Alaskan/Tribal name and not its new christened one. Aspen and Greyson team up to find the Evergreen killer whose latest victim is killed in Denali. The book starts off strong, Greyson's love for Denali, his respect for this beautiful peak, the relationship between him and Aspen and his buddies, its fantastic. I love that Alaskan native Grant features so prominently, he's so vital in this book. This is quite fast paced by the end, with the killer to be caught in the next book in the series- which was kinda disappointing.
If you love National Parks, a bit of crime and fun, then this is a nice read.

I bought this as it seemed to be a mystery set in Alaska. It is more of a romance novel with a mystery. This could have been a good book - the story has possibility. However, it is self-published, the publisher did a poor job, and it desperately needs an editor, both for language and some of the action (for example, an almost instant helicopter ride from Denali to the hospital in Fairbanks). It was also a little sexist, in that the male protagonist, a Park Ranger, seemed to know FAR more about the female protagonists job than she, a Ph.D., did. I give it 3 stars, however, as the basic story was exciting if I ignored the flaws.
