One week in paradise with the one man I can't resist...

Will Cassidy is hot, infuriating, and the guy behind the biggest heart-stomping humiliation of my life. He's also hosting my BFF's destination wedding at his super-luxe tropical resort, so short of a hurricane or outbreak of the plague (here's hoping), I'm stuck within t̶o̶n̶g̶u̶e̶'s̶ arm's reach of him for the next seven days.

But I'm not a naive college girl anymore, and there's no way I'm falling for his (many) charms again. I just have to ignore the romantic wedding shenanigans, his miraculous abs, all those intimate beach sunsets... And did I mention those abs?

Maybe a wild vacation fling is exactly what I need to even the score... But between the scorching chemistry and all-inclusive margaritas, I'm getting drunk on love. Which definitely isn't part of the plan.

Can I keep my heart zipped - even if my bikini bottoms are lost somewhere on that nude beach? And how do you let go of the past when you're holding on tight to the past's (very ripped) torso?

Find out in the sexy, hilarious new romantic comedy from Lila Monroe!

It was on of the books I had to dry my kindle off the drool the heroine left behind.

I don't find it funny, when a woman is pining after a man for years and he enjoys his life with many meaningless hook-ups.
To be fair I must admit that she wasn't celibate, but of course didn't really move on and didn't really have satisfying sex life.

They knew each other at college and she was secretly in love with him, but he saw her only as his friend and continued to sleept with OWs.

One night she was drunk and had enough courage she wrote him a love letter and slipped it under his door. Next day she found him reading her letter loud to his friends. Her love letter was pinned to the frat house bulletin board.

She left and cut all ties with him. And he didn't try to contact her to clear the situation, not once.
She was his friend and it would be the right thing to do? 🤔

Later in the book we discover that she delivered her letter to the wrong door and the guys thought it was meant for another boy.

Even if it was a letter from unknown girl, even if he didn't know it was hers, it was CRUEL to read someone's love declaration and make fun of it.
Such person doesn't deserve any respect.
He & all his "friends" were as*holes!

Years later she was still pining for him and despite her weak attempts to play unaffected, she almost thrown herself at him.

I asked myself if a female self-respect is not IN anymore...

Yada, yada, yada. They slept together and he made clear he had no time and no desire to start something serious. They even talked abot college letter accident and he told her loud and clear that he didn't want to chase her in the past, coz he generally doesn't chase women. She just swallowed it (figuratively and literally) and tried to act unaffected.

But later, as he overheard her talking to her BFF and retelling his vision of their affair from her perspective - just fun, no strings attached etc - he was offended. WTF?

He made her feel guilty and she again declared her love to him in her bridesmaid's speech... Ugh! 😤

Did this woman have NO pride?!

He left, she wrote him again that she loved him...

Did this woman have NO dignity?

Some weeks later he came to LA, made some romantic gesture and she was again at his feet!

Well, I didn't find it funny.

Some things and people are better left in the past...

R A T I N G: 4 sunny stars!

“We meet again,” I say, and cringe inside at the Dark Lord-esqueline. My nerd humour comes out in full force when I’m edgy.
“Like is said, must be fate,” Will says, his smile turning into that heart-stopping grin...”

I was really in need of something to bring me an element of peace but sumultaneously able to raise my spirits, and Lovestruck by Lila Monroe was just a balm to my weary heart and a sweet smile to my sadness. I felt like Lovestruck took me into its arms and said ‘don’t worry, when life makes you sad Lila Monroe has just the treat!’

I have only ever read one other of Monroe’s books, and while I thought it passed the time alright, I wasn’t completely taken by it, but Lovestruck? Much better! This was truly so much fun, so light, so airy, so easy to read, so playful with an easy pace, lovely, a traditional tale of romance that doesn’t disappoint, and my biggest quibble? Reading this was like being offered a slice of cake which satisfied enough to make me consider sealing the whole platter. So, I definitely could have done with more, but my wishful appetite aside this story really didn’t need more.

Ruby Walters owns her own PR company, which is doing amazingly well but as hard as she works, she’s due for a much-needed break. But this woman who works hard and doesn’t play hard enough finally manages a week’s reprieve from her obligations because her best friend Brooke is getting married, and at a fancy Mexican resort no less. Ruby really couldn’t have asked for anything more, but just as life has an uncanny knack of doing she’s now thrown off kilter when she meets her old college friend and crush at the airport, and in strides Will Cassidy. But more than that Will is the man who betrayed her trust and crushed their friendship when he hurt Ruby’s heart so long ago. Now Mr. Smug and Successful is due to spend a long week in her company as he’s the groom’s best friend, but more than that he owns the whole resort.

Lovestruck was just so funny, and what rom com’s should be about. It seems this book was made to lift a spirit and crack a smile. There were some great scenes, a great vibe, great characters in wedding season, strongly woven outrageous comedy, a joyous setting, anticipated flirting, Star Trek obsessions, swoony moments, secret affairs, but most of all it just lit my heart and melted it at the same time like chic lit Is supposed to. I think we can all relate with Ruby, she has those quirky charactersitics I like to read about in a female protagonist and her inner monologue was ace. Will is smart and challenging, but with a very warm, supportive side that has always appealed to Ruby - and me. I’d absolutely recommend this to any of you rom com lovers out there because I know for sure I’ll be finding more to read from Miss. Monroe.

Lovely, lovely, lovely, a vessel of light-hearted delight that made me smile all the way through. Just lovely. Such a joy!

I wasn't Lovestruck with this one.

I think I'm too old to fall for this type of romance. There is no way I would talk to, let alone kiss, someone who had broken my heart.

Read through until the 30% mark and skimmed until 83% when it finished. The last 17% is advertising for other books.

I'll leave this for the young'uns, maybe they have a higher tolerance for alcohol loaded shenanigans and lusty hijinks.

Lovestruck is the perfect light-hearted romcom for those who love second-chance romances!

I've previously read Lila's books, so I can say without a doubt that Lovestruck is my absolute favorite of hers! Her unique writing style, coupled with the hilarious dialogue and awkward situations, makes the reader feel completely engaged in the story!

Running late to catch a flight to her best friend's wedding, Ruby collides (quite literally) with none other than Will Cassidy, the man who broke her heart in college. Rushing to the gate, and to get away from Will, Ruby is once again blindsided to find Will on the same flight, and attending the same wedding as her. The universe couldn't be this cruel to her, but she'd determined to make the best out of the situation. All she needs to do is focus on staying far away from Will as much as possible. It's been 5 years since she's last seen him, so how hard can that be? Right? A week in paradise is exactly what Ruby needed. But a week in paradise with the very man who belittled her and crushed her heart to pieces, the very man who seems to be everywhere she turns, and the same man who is crawling his way back into her heart with his sweet talk and caring touches, can only end up in heartbreak. Is Ruby capable enough to handle a vacation fling, knowing there's an expiration date?...or will her emotions backfire on her, and lose her heart to Will for him to only crush it all over again?

Wow! I absolutely LOVED this book! The rollercoaster ride of emotions balanced perfectly with the comedic conversations and interactions. And not just with Ruby and Will, but with the entire set of characters. This book was very hard to put down, and I kept wondering what would happen next. The dynamic between Ruby and Will was quite enduring, and you could easily sense the sexual tension between them. Right away, I sensed something was not quite what it seemed. I had my suspicions. And once revealed, I was overjoyed to know I was right! Don't get me wrong, this book is anything but predicable, and I was even surprised many times with how parts of the story played out. But when you have that feeling that you know there's more than what's being said and done, you just have to go with it. And YES!...I was RIGHT!

Lovestruck is a definite must read! A fun, flirty, and humorous beach-read that will make you swoon, and laugh, from head to toe!

5 stars!

Another great book from Lila. I love her heroines, they are always strong, confident and go-getters. It makes the read so much more interesting!
Also, love how these are standalones but the characters are connected in some way to the ones in the previous books.
Great read. I’ll definitely check the rest of the series.

A second-chance romance full of hilarity and heart!
Lila Monroe is known for her lighthearted rom-coms, and with LOVESTRUCK she just proved herself yet again. She gives us characters and hilarious and awkward situations we can relate to. She helps us to laugh, cry, and swoon hard with every turn of the page. This fast-paced and absolutely DELIGHTFUL romance will have you blushing from head to toe.

"You," he mutters, "have been driving me insane all evening."

"Sorry."
My voice comes out a little breathless. "I have been told my flirting lacks finesse."

"Fuck finesse."
His head dips, his lips almost brushing my temple. "I want to touch you until the only word you know is my name. I want to fuck you so hard you forget that too."

Holy shit.

Lila Monroe gives us romantic comedy done right! I'm always guaranteed a fun and entertaining good time when I crack open a Lila Monroe book and LOVESTRUCK was no exception. The characters were feisty, stubborn, and charming. The heated and flirtatious banter was on-point and I just ENJOYED the hell out of it. It kept me on my toes and left me with the biggest grin on my face. Strong and delightful characters, an easy lighthearted storyline, and comedic situations that will have you rolling, Lila Monroe delivers yet again with LOVESTRUCK!

Lovestruck by Lila Monroe
3.5*

Lovestruck is the story of Ruby and Will and is a second chance romance. Back in the college days they had a friendship which developed into something more for Ruby. She devised a clever plot to let Will know her feelings and left him a note but signed it using an alias that she thought he would recognize. The next morning she hears Will making fun of the note and, being beyond hurt and disappointed, disconnected herself from him completely without another word.

They meet again when Ruby is at the airport about to board a flight for her best friends wedding and discovers Will on the same flight. They reconnect on the plane and sparks start flying all over again. Ruby being Ruby tries to nip those feelings in the bud until she just can't resist Will anymore.

I did enjoy this book although not as much as I have enjoyed Monroe's books previously. I found Lovestruck lacking in some areas: there were still some laugh out loud moments but they were fewer and farther between for me. I guess I'm used to laugh out loud from the belly kind of romances from this author and this was more of a little chuckle here and there. I don't think I could completely believe the romance between Ruby and Will: sure, there was a lot of steam and a lot of sexy times which was great but I couldn't believe the romance aspect. I guess it felt a little rushed in that regard. I generally love this authors writing but this book definitely fell little short for me. I'm looking forward to Monroe's next book and hope it delivers her usual abundance of RomCom.

This was such a lovely and smexy second-chance romance and I so love those kind of stories I couldn't read it quick enough.

Ruby and Will were best friends at college but at some point they drift apart only to meet again few years later at their mutual friends' wedding in a fabulous tropical resort. Our main characters are two certified workhaolic,it seems like they don't have enough time in a day for a committed romantic relationship but the chemistry between the two is undeniable and I was hoping for their HEA throughout the book.

I have enjoyed once again Lila Monroe's writing, her characters made me smile and I fell in love with her tropical scenery.

Holiday Delight.

3.5 🌟’s

Just when things were starting to progress from friends to more with Ruby and Will back in college, the letter she pushed under his door expressing her feelings for him, doesn’t go as expected. It actually bombs badly and they lose contact with each other. Ten years later, when Ruby is jumping on a plane to be maid of honor for her bestie Brooke, who does she happen to bump into, but Will Cassidy. He is hosting the wedding as Brookes fiancé is a college buddy of Will’s and it’s his resort they are holding the destination wedding at.

Even though I enjoyed reading this installment of the series, I didn’t love it as much as the previous two. I didn’t feel Will and Ruby had enough time to fully convince me of their relationship, I needed more substance. I was on board with them becoming a couple once I found out of their misunderstanding and I liked where it was leading to but it was all a little rushed at the end. Also, there was no epilogue to give me a sense of what their future was going to look like, which leaves me feeling a little flat. It’s definitely worth the read for some laughs and a good contemporary romance.

Title: Lovestruck
Author: Lila Monroe
Series: standalone
Genre: romantic comedy
Themes: unrequited love, second chance
Heat: 3/5
Rating: 3/5

This is a short, easy rom-com, perfect for a sunny day in the garden and a bottle of cider. It's the type of book you can consume in one sitting, quite happily.

But, in some ways, that's not really enough for me any more. I couldn't connect to the characters, and much as the sex scenes (and even a particularly anticipatory tango scene) were well-crafted and steamy, I just felt like I didn't believe in the two being so close before the events of the novel. The history didn't really permeate into the present relationship, which felt very much drawn from scratch.

Similarly, the plot felt a little clumsy to me, in a way that has far too many coincidental meetings and steeps into unrealism, and diminishing the comedy aspect of the novel. I only really smiled a few times, rather than the laugh-out-loud, tears-streaming-down-my-face Get Lucky.

A fun, easy read, but lacking in character development.

A funny romcom I really enjoyed. Overall, I missed some depth in the story and it's a typical story that doesn't offer a lot of originality, but it's been a really fun in between read. I'd definitely still recommend reading it if you're looking for a fun reading experience.

Book-Challenge 2020: Book 4

There‘s one thing for sure: Lila Monroe
knows how to create her heroes. 😍 Will was another one of those guys I would love to get to know better. 😏

About the book: It‘s more 3.5 stars. Although it was a fast pacing, enjoyable read, it felt like just any other romance I read the last couple of months. The setting was perfect. Who doesn‘t want to read about a tropical paradise get-away? Hey, count me in! 😊

The characters were relateable, nice, funny, cute ... but nothing extraordinair either.

Maybe I have to switch to other genres for a while so I can appreciate romance once more.

Still, I enjoyed the read, and surly will come back to Lila Monroe‘s books again.

4 SMOOCHES!

This was a second-chance romance, set in a tropical location. It was a quick read, and if I'd have had a clear schedule when I picked it up, I could have read it in a single sitting. Lovestruck was light-hearted, sexy and heavy on the comedy.

Ruby and Will went to college together, where they became close but never bridged the gap from friends to anything more, though the feelings were there. A misunderstanding drives them apart, and five years later they see each other again for the first time at the wedding of mutual friends. It just so happens it's a destination wedding, and Will is the owner of the resort. The spark is still there, and it isn't long before their flirtatious banter turns into action on that attraction simmering between them. After clearing the air of the past, it is unfortunate that they don't learn from their mistakes because more misunderstandings get in their way before they finally lay it all on the line for love.

Lovestruck was a lot of fun, filled with some awkwardly cute and nerdy comedy. It was pretty steamy, but there weren't a lot of swoony, romantic type moments. All in all, though, I enjoyed this book-it was cute, charming and funny. This is my first time reading Lila Monroe's work, I enjoyed it, and I would read her again.

Lovestruck is a sexy second-chance romantic comedy. There's plenty of laughs, sexual tension and angst before you get to the happy tears. It all began with a love letter that sadly went astray. It's five years later and the once friends are reunited for their friends destination wedding.

Ruby Walters is on her way to her best friends destination wedding when she runs into an ex-college friend, Will Cassidy. Will is the one person she never intended to see again after he hurt her deeply. To her further dismay she discovers Will is heading to the same wedding. Ruby wants to stay away from Will but he keeps finding ways of catching her attention. It also doesn't hurt that he's drool worthy. Ruby decides that a fling won't hurt as long as she keeps her heart out of the equation.

Lovestruck has it's share of misunderstandings that drive a wedge between Ruby and Will. But misunderstanding aren't the only things that get in the way, so does strip pool games, fire alarms and jelly fish. Can the Ruby and Will write over the bad stuff and moving forward with the good?

The story sucked me in. Half way through the book I couldn't put it down until I was finished. The angst had me on edge but there were plenty of happy tears by the end.. 5 Stars!

Sometimes Kindle unlimited can produce little gems that you wouldn't have found otherwise, sometimes some of the books are a bit meh. This was a meh. Just all a little bit too sickly sweet for me, way over my girly girly threshold, i'm just not into how"my halter neck dress has come back from the hotel laundry service and i'm SO excited" - ok i might have embellished that a bit but it was just too much fluff.

I will say i was surprised when the main characters got down and dirty, i thought it would have been a bit tepid but wayhey they got at it like a steam train ...choo choo

I am being a little harsh it was by no means bad, it's a short read and there is a HEA. Bit of a bizarre ending but hey.

1.5 stars.

The was engagingly written and had its funny bits, but I didn't enjoy it all that much. To be fair, I generally steer clear of the whole "I've been in love with you for years, but you never saw me as anything but a friend" trope and this was no exception. Add to that situation the fact that the H was a total manwhore and I just didn't really care. At least we don't have any flashbacks to him and OW. That would have been the last straw for me.

As it was, the h was funny in the quirky way that I've come to expect from Lila Monroe. However, there wasn't much character or plot development. Had there been more of that (or really any at all) I could have come to know and care more about the MCs. Overall,

“An invitation to literally stomp all over the guy who bruised my heart? Who can turn that down?”

Light-hearted romcom! What could be better? Not a thing, and I adored Lovestruck.

Ruby Walter’s is late catching her plane while heading to her best friend’s destination wedding. As she is hurrying for the security check line, she collides with the one man she never thought she would see again. Will Cassidy, the Will that shares her love of star-trek and everything geeky. Will, one of her best friends during college. Will, the one who laughed at her way of sharing her true feelings.

He’s looking hotter than ever and he’s headed to the same place as Ruby. Well that’s ok, because it should be easy to ignore him the whole time, right?

Wrong.

“Who wants a guy who’s three minutes and done when you can have a ‘Mr. Rock your world all night long and why not another whirl in the morning’?”

Oh my gosh, Lovestruk is so dang cute! I filled up a couple glasses of wine and devoured this book. Laughing with the characters and totally swooning over Will.  Lila Monroe nailed it with a perfect romantic comedy!

Ruby Walter’s is adorable. She was my favorite and her character was just so real that you couldn’t help but want to be her friend. She has the worst luck ever and she always finds herself in crazy situations. It was great watching her interact with all the different characters that are provided! I also loved her job, she works in PR and represents young kids who are famous through YouTube and Instagram. I think that would be awesome!

I was totally gushing over Will as much as Ruby was. He was so charming and funny. He also owned the beautiful eco-friendly resort they were staying at for the Wedding. The romance and emotions and flirting that was going on between Will and Ruby was to die for. I loved it and I couldn’t get enough. There was so much angst! Oh my gosh, after my first glass of wine I was practically yelling at my kindle for them to finally be able to freaking kiss or make a move on each other!

Yes, I got a little too excited ;).

“I want to touch you until the only word you know is my name.”

Lovestruck was so much fun and if you are looking for a light-hearted second chance romance then I have just found it for you! I was laughing out loud more than once reading this adorable story. I guarantee you will love these characters just like I did!

This is the perfect read this Summer with it’s charm and swoon worthy romance!

Ruby Walters is on her way to her BFF's destination wedding in a Mexican tropical resort when she runs into Will Cassidy, her former college friend and the man who stump all over her heart five years prior. Seeing he's still his charming self and a successful entrepreneur making a name for himself will remind Ruby of the old feelings she had for him. Will she be able to resist him this time around?
Memories of past heartbreak, meddling parents, a few well intentioned comments and unexpected encounters of the third, maybe the fourth kind will make this a cute and fun read. The characters are down to earth and relatable and their story is one full of misunderstandings they both seem too hard bent in overcoming. I really enjoyed the friends and their interactions while enjoying their week in paradise prior to the wedding.
I liked the flow of the story and I felt it was a nice, light read without too much angst or drama.

Will and Ruby...talk about a misunderstanding gone wrong!
Ruby is a straight shooter when it comes to work, but in matters of the heart she is a tad jaded. Ruby is awesome at her job, works very hard, but is missing a special someone to share her success with.

Will is going places with his business and taking names. He seems to have it all at his finger tips, except for a lady to share his spoils with.

When Will and Ruby are suddenly in the same place at the same time after all these years Ruby will have to confront her feelings for Will. Will she try to avoid him, not confront her feelings, will they talk about the past or just rush into something?

I can tell you that Will is a dirty talker and he has the goods to back up all that talk. Ruby will for sure be one satisfied customer.
This book has a bit of romance, a bit of dirty and a bit funny!

Lila is on her way to be a part of her friend, Brooke's wedding when she finds out that her college crush Will not only is also in the wedding but the wedding is at the resort he owns. She was devastated on how he treated her in college and is using all her inner strength to get through all the preparations.

It's not long before she realizes she's not over Will and that there is something strong between the two of them.

There are several chuckles in this book. Especially all the times they are interrupted. I think the secondary characters really added to this story.

I love the pep talk that Lila gave Brook the day of her wedding. Talked her right off that runaway bride ledge.

As much as I loved reading this book I felt that it seemed a little rushed. At least between Will and Lila. I would of liked to of gotten to know Will a little better.

In reading the description, this made me think of The Wedding Date. If you haven't seen that movie, do. Dermot Mulroney!! Need I say more?

Anyway, Ruby is a PR manager to YouTube and Instagram child sensations. She's rushing through the airport to make it to her BFF's destination wedding and runs into Will. The Will she knew in college and was in love with. The Will who broke her heart and she's never talked to him since. Seems he's part of the same wedding party. Dang it!

This was a laugh to read. It was funny in almost like a Bridesmaids (the movie way). You can see these things happening but you really wouldn't expect them to happen to you. Either way, it's funny period. And wasn't quite the plotline I expected which is always a good thing!

This was cute.

The not-communicating thing did run amok, though. So did the interruptions of intimate moments. (That got annoying.) Although I hated that it took awhile to get them together, they sizzled when they did. I love me a dirty talker.

I liked the twist on the heroine's career. We've seen a lot of the publicist jobs lately, but the angle of repping the teenage youtubers was pretty nice.

I'm not sure the end was exactly the way to go. It seemed a bit forced and a tad unbelievable. It was enjoyable, sure, but the declaration came out of left field.

Had it not been for KU, though, I might have rated this lower. It was cute and fun, but it wasn't life altering.
