Beth Rain has always wanted to be a writer and has been penning adventures for characters ever since she learned out to stare into the middle-distance and daydream.
She currently lives in the (sometimes) sunny South West, and it is a dream come true to spend her days hanging out with Bob – her trusty laptop – and scoffing crisps and chocolate while dreaming up swoony love stories for all her imaginary friends.
Join Beth in Seabury if you fancy dipping your toes in the waves, head to Little Bamton for some quintessential English village action, or take a trip down the river to Upper Bamton if standalones involving a spot of wine and wool are your thing!
Beth’s writing will always deliver on the happy-ever-afters.
Well what can I say about this lovely book. I love all of the ideas Beth imagines and having a base around Seabury is wonderful. If you've read her previous Seabury centred books you'll enjoy the nods to previous books (characters mainly). If you've not read a Seabury book before don't worry this will not detract from how good the story is. I will warn you, you may end up wanting to read the whole back catalogue after you've read one though.
Lou's story is so lovely, I really related to her in a lot of ways regarding relationships but fortunately that's in the past for me, I am now happily married. I digress, back to Seabury, I love the descriptions of Seabury that Beth manages to make so real, you feel like you're there in the village as part of the community.
I absolutely loved this book and I love how the story flowed from chapter to chapter, the pace is perfect and the people are even more perfect. No spoilers here so this is where I stop. Happy Reading.
This was another lovely story in this wonderful series - book 9. I have been reading these books one after another and have loved every one of them! This book was Lou's story. She had moved to Seabury and started to work part-time at the coffee shop and then also worked at the new restaurant at the Pebble Beach Hotel. She has now settled into town and bought a small cottage that needs some serious garden help!
Amazon synopsis: Being left for a nineteen-year-old with a nose ring is a very long way down Lou Walter’s list of “fun things to do after forty” - no matter how much she might laugh it off in public.
Still, Seabury has wrapped its loving arms around her, and Lou’s two jobs, new friends and mad cold-water-swimming escapades are keeping her from dwelling on the treacherous little…
Deep. Breath. Moving on.
Lou’s got her new house to focus on. She always thought buying a house was meant to be the “grown-up thing to do”… but when it comes to this one, she’s not so sure. There was quite a bit of creative licence going on when the estate agent described it as “charmingly rustic”.
But – it looks like the cure to Lou's broken heart can be found amongst the tubes of filler and tins of paint. Now, if only she could find the time and energy to tame the garden…
When the rampant brambles finally get the better of her, Lou goes in search of a pair of helping hands… and finds more than she’d ever bargained for deep in the undergrowth!
I had forgotten quite a few of the Seabury characters they are all so lovely & even a bit nosey, but in a nice way. They had taken Lou in and welcomed her with open arms. Lou was a very hard worker doing 2 jobs and trying to renovate her little house. Working at the Sardine with Kate & everyone else Elsie & Charlie each asking her not to tell the other about their little secrets. Her other job at the hotel waiting on tables. Her loverly sweet man who she was getting to know quite well now. The loverly beach hut uncovered in her overgrown garden and the story that had been told by many locals when they had a garden clearing party. Lou couldn't believe how everyone was so generous at giving up their time to help clear her overgrown garden. Lou now felt at home in her lovely little house & was so proud of her beach hut in the middle of her garden. Lou was looking forward to many more garden party's with her new found friends.
Lovely to be back in Seabury and meet Lou who is working hard at two jobs, The Sardine and The Pebble Street Hotel. Lou is getting her life back on track after a bad break up, she’s enjoying living and renovating Shell Cottage. Sean was formerly a gardener and everyone agrees he’s the man to help Lou sort out her overgrown garden. Sean and Lou make a start and uncover a surprising item in the garden, this is Seabury and soon everyone knows and wants to help Lou. A delightful read with some favourite characters popping up, Seabury really is a magical community and I so want to live there.
Fantastic read back in Seabury with Lou, who works hard at her two jobs. She is a friendly person but doesn't realise how many people like her. So when she starts to clear her garden with Sean, who she met swimming in the sea, everybody comes to help. Great story which flows so well.
Loved Lou’s story, a character who is larger than life and enjoys herself but, carries heartbreak buried within. Her antics and laughter make for a great read.
