When Julian attempts to make his way to his newly inherited cabin during a snowstorm, he finds out quickly that his GPS isn’t working. Instead of turning back, Julian decides to press forward… straight into a snow bank.
Sutton finds Julian passed out in his car. He brings the omega inside, nurses him back to health, and realizes very quickly that Julian is his true mate. With the storm raging outside and keeping them snowed-in, the two find warmth in each other’s arms.
Sutton’s Cabin is a low angst, true mate story featuring a bear alpha, a bunny omega, being snowed in, an unexpected heat, mpreg, and of course, a happily ever after.
Toby Wise is a stay at home parent who hails from a tiny town in Wisconsin. Contrary to popular Wisconsin stereotypes, he’s not a cheese-head who enjoys beer but rather an introvert who spends all his time on the internet, drinking coffee, spending time with his kid, and cooing about his adorable cat, Pikachu.
In April of 2019, A Collection of Strays was born after the world of fanfiction drew him back into his love of writing. Now he’s writing all things omegaverse as long as it includes silly moments and found family.
This book was free of angst; both the main characters were good; there was nothing to dislikeb and their relationship was fast and smooth sailing, but somewhat I felt it was bland and flat.
Sutton was such a caring and protective alpha! He really was the sweetest, letting Julian take the lead. Short, very insta-love thanks to fated mates, and very steamy, this novella was a lovely read, as I've come to expect from this author.

This was a cute, short, low angst read where the MC's instantly recognize each other as true mates. Julian's grandpa passed recently and left him a remote cabin in his will. He has been feeling this internal push/urge to travel to the cabin so he decides he will take a weekend and go check it out. Unfortunately, he didn't check the weather forecast before he left and ends up in a bad snowstorm with his GPS on the fritz. Julian ends up having an accident, hitting his head and passing out in his car right in front of Sutton's cabin. Sutton rushes out to help the person that was just in a car crash only to find out it's his true mate. Sutton is elated but needs to concentrate on helping his mate get to safety and to tend to him until he wakes up. Once Julian wakes up, he too recognizes Sutton as his true mate and has a strong pull to the alpha. They don't immediately jump each other and take some time to get to know each other during their first night together. Julian's heat starts up unexpectedly and they have to decide how to handle it since they haven't finished talking about them being mates.
This story flows like most fated mates stories do so you're not really guessing at what's going to happen. It's a cutesy book to pass your time with because you know it's happy and fluffy.
This wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I like the author's other books, it just feels like there is something missing with this and I don't know what it is. I did like the characters though.
DNF at 38% Too much telling instead of showing. We're beaten over the head with descriptions of our alpha male protagonist relying on his instincts and gruff, take-charge attitude. "He's an alpha, get it?" the narrative might as well scream at us. Speaking of tired tropes, meet the requisite "independent omega" male love interest. Because in this universe, all omegas must defiantly declare they don't need an alpha's protection...until their biological urges conveniently kick in and they swoon into their fated mate's arms.
This romance checks all the overused boxes. The alpha is determined to care for the omega whether said omega likes it or not. The omega puts up triple because omega-nism! But oh no, here comes insta-lust and bam, they're fated mates destined to be.
Sutton’s Cabin by Toby Wise is a sweet fated mate story taking place in a cabin in the mountains. Julian is an omega rabbit shifter who was left his grandfather’s cabin in the mountains. One day he decided to go see what it was like but unfortunately a snow storm blew up and he could hardly see where he was driving when he swerved and went into a ditch, hitting a snowbank and hurting his head. Luckily, Sutton, an alpha bear shifter saw this happen because it was right outside his cabin. He pulled Julian from the car and took him inside ministering to his superficial wounds. It was then that he realized Julian was his fated mate. When Julian came too, he also realized this had happened. Both men had been unsure they would ever find theirs so they weren’t exactly sure what to do. But as they got to know each other they knew they needed to be together and gradually became just what the other needed. They enjoyed many happy times together doing different activities that led them to be more comfortable with each other. Sutton was such a gentleman and didn’t want to rush Julian when it came to their actual mating, but once they were sure they went gung-ho and had many hot love scenes. And since they were fated mates that led to the inevitable after Julian’s heat and they were both happy that they were going to have a baby. This is where the story ended except for a chapter that took place a year later that tied up all the loose ends. I enjoyed this book, especially the characters. Julian could be kind of snarky but also knew exactly what he wanted and that was Sutton. Sutton was kind and caring and wanted only the best for his omega. I also found some of their actions, such as Julian building a nest before he got pregnant and Sutton’s reaction to this, interesting as I have not read many stories that include this happening. The setting also played a big part in what was happening with the snow storm and all the snow they could play in. And in the end, everything turned out to their advantage. I recommend this book if you like short, sweet Alpha/Omega stories with fated mates characters who find their happy ending.
**4.5** Toby is one of my top authors for fated mates, low angst romance as I know that it will be well written over a short time frame, to allow for the instant fated mates connection, but allows for the relationship to develop as well. This works for Sutton and Julian after Julian crashes his car during a snow storm right by Sutton's house and, like a good man, goes out to see if everyone is ok. It's quite the shock to suddenly be overwhelmed with the scent of your fated mate but he does all he can to ensure Julian is safe and cared for. It's one of Sutton's best traits, being sure that his omega is doing what they want, not under duress, and is happy. Both men are aware of who they are to each other but I like that they try to allow a little time to pass before anything more happens, maybe a conversation or two. All beta are off once consent and a discussion is had as it's clear how much they want each other. This is a really sweet fated mates, shifter romance with an aspect of mpreg. I felt the emotional connection between the MC's and enjoyed how they got through the snow storm together. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
This book is part of the multi-author Love Sync Mates series. This is one of the first shifter books that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. The book is an insta-love fated mate novella. This is the story of Sutton and Julian. Sutton is an alpha bear shifter and an author. He enjoys living in his isolated cabin. He sees a car go off the road in a snowstorm and goes to give aid. He rescues him and brings him to his cabin. He can't believe he has found his fated mate. Julian is an omega rabbit shifter. He is currently finishing his last semester at school to become an accountant. He was on his way to see the cabin when he crashes in the snow storm. He realizes that Sutton is his fated mate as well but he wants to see if they actually like and respect each other before he commits for life. This is their story. It is well written and easy to read. I liked how their relationship developed and how they treated each other with respect. A sweet book that I really enjoyed. I look forward to more books by this author.
I received an advanced review copy for free and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Toby is known for his low-angst, fluffy romance books, and this one is no different. Julian is an Omega bunny shifter who is on his way to his grandfather's cabin, but his GPS is broken and leads him astray, right into a snowbank. The bright side of those turn of events is that the broken GPS landed Julian right outside his mate's cabin.
I always enjoy Toby's stories, he writes great characters, and his writing is always full of sweetness, and happiness. Not to mention different types of shifters, I personally love the scenes where the characters are in their animal forms, I find those moments so adorable!
I really appreciated how Sutton's character didn't push Julian, and made sure to talk to him first before anything happened. Even though when Julian went into his heart his instincts were urging him to be with Julian, Sutton prioritized communicating with Julian before anything happened between them.
All in all, I think this is another great story from Toby!
When Julien crashes his car during a snowstorm he has no idea that the person who comes to his rescue is his fated mates. Sutton is just glad that he witnessed the car spin into a ditch not far from his cabin. He races out to check on the occupant, not realizing that he's about to meet his fated mates. Amidst the backdrop of swirling snow and crackling fires, a new storm is brewing within the rugged bear Alpha and the feisty bunny Omega - Heat! This was a really sweet story about fated mates meeting and insta attraction. Lots and lots of hot 🔥🔥 smexy times and a bit of insta love. The author does a good job with giving us just enough background on the two MCs and world building to pull the reader in and make you care about the characters. Not overly long, it gets right down to business and then finishes with a sweet epilogue. A great break from all the angsty books I tend to read and highly satisfying.
Sutton’s Cabin by author Toby Wise is a Beautiful love story. I love these two together. You need to suspend some belief cause there is insta love, but I felt it fit this story amazingly well. I love the love in this story, and I now know bunny shifters are adorable. Julian is going to a recently inherited Cabin. The GPS was not working, and ends up in a snow banking. Sutton finds Julian he takes him and nurses him back to health. He can feel Julian is his mate. His true mate. With the snow coming down, it gets very hot in the cabin. I love Julian’s adorable personality. I found Sutton amazing and sweet. These two together are awesome. This is the story to pick up when you want to fall in love.
A lovely forced proximity book, featuring an unexpected heat.
I really liked this book. There was a lot of story for such a short book. Sutton is an alpha who lives alone in the woods and Julian is an omega who has a car accident nearby during a snow storm. Sutton comes to the rescue.
I like how Sutton and Julian tried their best to get to know one another before starting a physical relationship, despite the mating pull. I also liked how respectful Sutton was during Julian's unexpected heat. He was very clear that he didn't have to be involved and gave Julian piles of options to take care of things himself.
My favourite part was the nest building though. I always love a good nest and Julian's was very cute.
Overall, this was just a lovely book with winter vibes.
This was definitely sweet, low angst and fluffy. There wasn’t any big bad or anything like that, it was more a lot of sweetness and slowly getting to a HEA. It just didn’t hit like Toby’s books usually do for me. I will admit, the ‘internal omega/alpha/animal’ got a little much for me so maybe I was in a bad mood as that doesn’t normally get to me or maybe it was just more present this time. I just felt like the story fell a little flat and it was a bit a+b+c. Don’t get me wrong, it was sweet and if you’re looking for something that isn’t going to throw you or suddenly get angsty or feel too much then this is a good read. It just wasn’t as good as I’m used to with Toby.
Unless these are written for young adults stop with the cookie.cutter method of writing, way (pronounced waaaaaaaaaaaaaay) too much humanness in were' fated mates. They should bite an make love instantly. Its not too much to ask to build a story around facts already known about were's including even knowing theses are knotty types of books it would be great to have a few heats before babies. It's even possible to learn more of about their lives, and those around them. What about the area friends an businesses hello I ways Soooooo looking forward to after the bite for them both to call their respective families and enjoy the freak out from the mate finding by alas nothing. As these books go its an ok read so please do enjoy.😊
Love reading this author’s books. They are sweet with no angst stories. Julian is on his way to his grandfather’s cabin that he inherited. Along the way a snowstorm came about and his GPS was giving him different directions. When he ran into a snow bank, he passed out. Sutton was going to cut wood to have in his cabin, when he noticed the car running into that snow bank. When he opened the door, he realized that it was his mate. When Julian woke up, and they introduced themselves, the story started from there. Sutton was a sweet alpha who asked every time he did something. Love this world with great chemistry and heat. Cannot wait to read more from this author,
Sutton's Cabin is steamy story about Sutton, an alpha bear shifter, and Julian, an omega bunny shifter. Julian was on his way to find a cabin that was left to him. It just so happened to be snowing and his GPS didn't want to work right. He found himself in an accident only to be saved by his true mate. Just when you think everything is going wrong, you might just be saved by someone very unexpected, in a good way. I loved watching Julian make his sleeping nest. It looked so cozy. Nothing like being trapped by a little snow storm to get to know your mate better. I recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
I wanted to like this book, really I did. But it was just so boring. I love the insta-love/ mate thing. It was just everything else that was bothering me. The MC were just bland for me. At some point Sutton says how he loves that Julian is playful in both his skins, and I was like "really?". I guess I couldn't see it. And then thre was the "I'm independent, but I love being taken care of by the alpha - exception to my independence" and the "I want to take care of you but I don't want to be overbearing, but I'm still gonna do it because instinct/ you like it"...yeah, this was also not something I enjoyed in this book. It took me forever to read.
This is a fated true mates little slice of sweet insta-love heaven, just like I would expect from one of Toby’s books. They never fail to be a great little palate cleanser of no angst happiness, a bit of spicy heat, and a whole lot of love. Julian wasn’t expecting to meet his true mate when his GPS glitched and ran him off a snowy road, but there was no one better to be snowed in with than Sutton. The growly teddy bear knew in an instant that Julian was the one…and everything just flows from there. Great little story!
Sutton's Cabin was an adorable short story. When Sutton saw a car hit a snowbank in front of his cabin, he had no idea his world would be upended. But in the best way. I would have been disappointed if there wasn't a scene with their shifted animals as the bear and bunny were adorable. Julian and Sutton work together to make sure they're not swept away by the hormones shared between them, but made sure there was full consent from each of them.
Sutton's Cabin is part of the multi author Love Sync Mates series. Each book is a standalone story but why not enjoy the whole series. This is Sutton an alpha bear shifter and Julian an omega bunny shifters story. This is a sweet quick read. Julian is hurt when looking for the cabin he inherited and is found then snowed in with Sutton. I loved how caring Sutton is and how Julian is a bit fierce in his independence. This book is low angst and has everything I want in an fated mates story. I would definitely recommend this book and series
DNF-one of only about a dozen in the over forty years I've been an avid reader. And most of those all have the same cause. First person, present tense writing. I have made it through a few of those over the years, but it's getting harder and harder as I get older to waste my time struggling to read a format I hate just because the blurb sounds good. I didn't give this one a star rating as I honestly can't say whether the author is good or bad at character development, world building or story writing in this book. I couldn't read enough of it to decide that.
Fate has possessed your GPS...and it leads you straight to your true mate!
This is a sweet tale, full of snuggles, cuddles, and a nest to die for. Julien and Sutton have a true mate response that is so hot it triggers a heat. The emotions flood the pages, sweeping you up into their embrace. And a bear and a bunny! If you want a good read that will put a smile on your face... this book is tailor-made for you. I know you will love it as much as I did.
I adored this quick read! This was one of my favorite tropes with a big bear of a man rescuing a sweet bunny of a man, literally since we are in shifter world! Both super likable men and the care and protection Sutton gave to Julian, well Julian would not have been able to resist falling in love, fated or not!
Loved it! I mean wouldn't love a handsome bear alpha and his sweet adorable bunny omega...especially if that omega has a potty mouth...LOL Lately, forced proximity and fated mates are my faves...Julian and Sutton while totally opposites clicked automatically which made this a fun and entertaining romance. LOVED IT!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I absolutely adored this story. This was such a sweet and wonderful fast paced story about fated mates, accidental meetings, and a very big snowstorm. This story was full of sweetness and steam and I laughed and sighed my way through it. I didn’t want to put this down at all. I loved the characters and completely enjoyed the story. This was a great read.
Contains: shifter bunny and bear, cabin, close proximity, snow in, fated mates, insta-lust/love, heat, marks, mpreg.
Cute story. Insta love, close proximity, heat, seggs, fated mates. I remove 2 stars because for me there's were way too much seggs, lust, love and pratically the story line was just seggs.
This is a lovely low angst story in which Julian, an omega bunny shifter, finds his alpha Sutton, who is a bear shifter. Their lives literally change overnight. A definite case of opposites attract, this story is easy to read, very steamy and fun, with good world building and likable characters. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
