MISCUE is the first of Glen C. Allison's Forte New Orleans Thriller Series. It can be read as a standalone story or as a companion to the other Forte NETBLUE, SNAFU, and UNDO. You won't regret trying this edgy - but not R-rated - series. Enjoy!
Glen C. Allison rescues readers daily from boredom and, occasionally, from a good night's sleep. How? Via the Forte suspense series. Forte, a broken SEAL, rescues children in the twisted town of New Orleans. A step ahead of darkness, Forte keeps the demons at bay by saving those who can't save themselves.
I found this book through a FB ad and didn’t really know what to expect. Well, I loved it. First and foremost, I live in NOLA, born and raised in Gretna. There were certain scenes I could literally picture in my head. I grew attached to Forte almost instantaneously. I kept wanting to more of what he was thinking, and what he was doing, and the author did an amazing job of giving that to the audience. I absolutely can not wait to read the rest of this series.
I don't know what possessed me to pick this up on Kindle; except it fits the genre that I like, and it takes place in a location that fits me. It doesn't take long for you to wrap yourself up in the Al Forte character -- orphaned, raised by a Creole barber, Navy SEAL, wife is murdered, grief moves to be an addict, and recovered (and struggling) addict that makes it his mission in life to protect and defend children that need it. What's not to like? This first story is a good one, filled with lots of action and suspense. Al Forte shows a lot guts and intuition, and it is going to take all he's got figure this one out. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes the action and adventure genre.
Al Forte has to save the children. That is his mission in life now. He does it no matter what it takes. Enjoyed this book and will be reading more from Glen Allison
Fast-paced page-turner. If you read this last of the series book first, you'll be pleased to go back to read the first three. Good sense of place and culture.
Gave this 6 chapters but found getting hit in the head by right wing superiority gave me a headache. I like my preaching to come from church, not action books.
Miscue is the first in the Al Forte series. I liked the protagonist. I liked the New Orleans setting. His profession was unique, personal protection for children endangered usually by their parents' activities and professions, often criminal or famous. Plotting was very nice. Would have liked to see more 3-D efforts given to the secondary characters. The action was pretty darn good! Makes me wonder about the author's connections to this sort of thing! *wink* Good debut. Would be willing to read the others in the series.
I liked that there was a man dedicated to keeping children safe. The description of abortions was thrown in to startle the reader. I really liked the characters Nomad. The story felt too chopped up for me. It did not flow.
