I read this book as it was in a reading list for my Counselling Course and it's an amazing introduction to Counselling with clear explanations and definitions. The index on the back serves as a great reference point when you want to find something quickly. My only issue and it's very minor is that the whole book comes in a question/answer, teacher/student form and that can be a bit annoying at point but it is easily ignored.
In general, very well written and would recommend to anyone who is either starting a counselling Course or would like to know more about Counselling.

Informative but didn't really gel with the style of Q&A writing. Made me think of plenty of details and factors of becoming a counsellor that I hadn't fully considered or thought about before I start the Level 2 in a couple of months time. Would recommend to read if you are starting you level 2 and believe it is the recommended reading for most people undertaking the Level 2/3 anyway so best crack on with it if you can!

This book covers the syllabus for BACP level 2 and 3 counselling training. I read the first half before starting the level 2 training and it definitely gave me a head start. It is packed with useful counselling techniques and uses realistic examples to encourage the reader reflect on the topics. I think it is best used as an introduction to counselling and as a reference during and after training.

I read this book as part of my Counselling Level 3 training. It presents in an accessible and digestible way, with a pinch of humour, all the counselling approaches and main concepts with clear and useful examples and hands-on analytical questions. Highly recommend.
