Dungeon Core TV #1

Viewer Discretion Advised

Rate this book
The aliens didn’t conquer Earth. They negotiated exclusive streaming rights instead.

Unbeknownst to humanity, the powerful Voltaxians controlled the galaxy, their vast empire fueled by their monopoly on mana.

When they arrived on Earth, humanity feared invasion, only to find out the godlike aliens had something far different in mind.

The Voltaxians offered a simple deal. Allow them to set up dungeons controlled by living intelligent dungeon cores on Earth to generate mana, and they’d share the wealth. With no means to resist, Earth agreed to their terms.

A whole new job has now captured the imagination of humanity. Dungeon explorers push into these intelligent dungeons and battle the monsters inside. Their brave challenges help generate the mana the aliens promise will advance Earth. All the while, these dungeon diving exploits are streamed and broadcast around the world and even into the galaxy via the alien-owned Dungeon Core TV.

A man used to be able to get by with loyalty and a strong back.

Luther Miller has little interest in dungeon diving. His father sacrificed their family ranch to send him to school. He’s done his best to honor that sacrifice by devoting himself to his finance job in New York City.

When his father passes way, Luther questions if his career is the best way to carry on the family name.

Family honor and intergalactic revenge intertwine in the dark depths of the dungeon.

This is a quirky little novel that combines the American Gladiators TV show with a multiplayer dungeon crawl televised worldwide as sports entertainment brought to you by alien overlords. Of course, humanity is being manipulated by the shiny new idea of generating magical power (mana) by sponsoring the games, but the takeover has been carefully orchestrated by aliens pretending to remain distant while actually manipulating outcomes in the guise of altruism.

Luther Miller is a person regretting that he left home to make his way in the world away from the protective reach of his father. He returns home after the death of his father, and the breakup with his girlfriend hoping to find a better way, when a dungeon appears to him on a lonely mountain on his property. There he meets an entity that will help him acquire mana if he will allow a binding to Luther which he does.

Of course, there are consequences to these actions, but a major part of this novel revolves around the dungeon dive competition which will give Luther a decided advantage to future dungeon dives. The novel moves pretty much about how you would expect with other characters providing a love interest, the possibility of a traitor among us, and other story tropes too numerous to mention.

I like Mike Anderle's universe and how he carefully adds properties. This novel was a fun, hugely entertaining read. There is some complexity in adding the alien element, but not so much that the alien aspect feels like too much. It's all about story, and this one sings.

Fast start to a new story by very capable authors. Aliens, fighting, betrayal, some romance, and a good old boy from Texas.

What's not to like? The dungeon core was a nice character, and the fact they have their own backstory, more to be revealed!

Read on everyone and enjoy!

adrenaline inducing action packed series

Few books are as satisfying as an Anderle read, particularly an adrenaline inducing action packed series!

Viewer Discretion opens the way with a jolt too when New Yorker Luther Miller decides to walk away from his girlfriend Kayla, his apartment, his analyst job and his career in NYC and go home to small town Texas to his cowboy roots.

Luther accidentally discovers an alien as he explores his parents property and somehow befriends it after battling with it, in a fashion, as the alien discloses its quest for justice and they bond so they can take on the Voltaxian Dungeons are located on Earth to find its enemy.

The Voltaxians approached Earth and basically made a deal with the earthlings to place their du geo s there and offered incentives to have humans and other s fight a series of entities to create “mana” to win standing and prizes etc., so it’s fascinating to see Luther with no real knowledge or skill, take on training himself with the help of his core partner, to be one of a team competing to win.

Luther is definitely Italy an underdog who partners with Lili who struggles with her loss of her precious team, Malcolm who is really a malcontent and arrogant overblown a** and other team members who are in and out of elimination…and the results os such a disparate blend of folks with unusual backgrounds and personalities as well as skill sets is as complex as it is fascinating to consider.

As with most of the Anderle series and his writing partner duos and teams, the stories and their characters flow wonderfully, hilariously and exceptionally well, are smoothly written and are an absolutely worthwhile read

Viewer Descretion Advised is the first book in a new series, and it's a pretty good one. It's a dungeon core, and an adventurer navigating the crazzy maze of dungeon diving, and as it turns out, politics as well. Aliens, corporations, governments, and who know what else is all involved, and each one has their own agendas, and of course, the main character has his work cut out for him if he wants to survive in this crazy mixed up world. It's a pretty good tale, and I think most LitRPG fans will enjoy this one.

Fun story, need more books in the series

The one ‘problem’ with is awesome author is every time he releases a book....you get immediately sucked in and want the next book. This is no exception. Loved the action, the intrigue, the universe, aliens, etc. the only problem is we have to wait for book two....and then book three, etc. 😃. I definitely recommend this book and look forward to the rest of the series.

Set your DBR (digital book recorder) and binge this series!

You know, I that McLaughlin and Anderle had set the bar on awesome LITRPG, but I stand corrected.

I fully expected to dislike this book entirely, but I was curious since it was released under the Michael Todd pen-name. I have never been quite so wrong. This book is awesomeness incarnate.

Buy it. Read it. Love it.

The End!

Like walking in the game, sorta

So the story is super interesting... Unlike a lot of books of gameplay it keeps it simple..Just enough description of the dungeon description to keep it in game mode and onto reality... But not so much you want to poke out your eyes. A little fast paced w lots happening to hastily filter through the lingering loose ends but enough not to remain credible. Looking fwd to bk 2

Michael does it again!

This is a great start to a new series! Michael just knows how to set a hook, then just reels you in with great characters and fantastic storylines. That's what I love about LMBPN, almost every single book will have you craving more. As always, Thanks Michael Ford what you do, it really makes a difference in this crazy world. Giving people a escape from reality should be celebrated, especially now days when reality sucks so badly. Ad Aeternitatem

Better than expected

I don't tend to read many books of this genre...but couldn't help but pick this one (and bonus it was free!!!). A rather typical kicking adventure, although found the format strange to begin with (yup really not familiar with this type)....but MT ups the ante with each turn. So many threads pulling together. Looking forward to following this Texas cowboy and his kitty partner in their next adventure...

Book one

This book was pretty good. I have so many questions though.
I'd have liked a bit more information about just what is going on.
I liked that the Wheel Queen almost knows what is going on, but is so wrong that it's funny.
Writing and editing was excellent.
Only gave four stars because I don't like being left with so many questions.

8/10 Still really good.

Cute but convoluted and not worth reading

I don't recommend this series it's a train wreck that keeps on going downhill and picks up speed. I wanted to see this to the and and it never gets any better. I would call this more of a reality TV show combined with the worst 80s tv sitcom ever.

Thoroughly entertaining

I felt this was a very well crafted story with an awesome main character. His unique entry into world of dungeon diving was incongruous and hilarious.
I think any fan of litrpg, fantasy or DnD would really enjoy this book with is very different take on dungeons and dungeon cores.

Michael "Todd" Very Like our much loved friend and author, another Michael :) . Writes a ripping yarn - there's lots of fun and fast action and some serious stuff (well a little bit - revenge/justice etc.)

I enjoyed this yarn so much, I've also read book two and started book thee. Grab the series if you haven't read it yet.

A recommend read; one of the best in the genera

Great action

Action secret back stories. The lead character is likable. The other lead is a limited information. Bit of smoking mirrors. Fun.

Ended well

Really tough read to start but the rest of the story makes it worth the effort. Interesting view on dungeons, I look forward to the sequel in order to see where this goes
