The Stunt

36K words had NO DAMN RIGHT to be this good! I don’t know what magic went into making this but I absolutely devoured it and then immediately went to scream at anyone that will listen about how dang good this is! MAVERICK MORAN has destroyed me for other MMCs. SIR. You didn’t have the right to wrench my entire world, but I am here for it.

It was cute, it was sweet and spicy. Perfect combination. More even now with all the TAYVIS references and easter eggs. I loved that. No drama. It was perfect for a quiet and cozy night.

For a novella with a football player that was never supposed to happen, this book was pure perfection! If you have not read anything from C.L. Rose yet, then please do yourself a favor and read the Boston Blizzard Series. You can thank me later!

He was a character that I never knew I needed to meet but am so glad that C.L. Rose decided he needed to be part of our lives. This book is told in a Dual POV: Maverick and Bella. Maverick is a star football player for the Boston Blizzard and Bella is America's pop princess. Their mutual publicist encouraged them to fake date to draw attention to them as the Boston Blizzard was heading to the Super Bowl and Bella was the half time performer. But these two have chemistry straight from the start and there is no more faking when it comes to their relationship.
What I loved the most about this book was the Bella was very inexperienced with life and sexually. And Maverick created such a safe space for her. Not to mention, this man is also a praise king and encourages her to use her words, which is the hottest thing ever. Like I can't even count how many times this man called Bella a "Good Fucking Girl." It made my knees weak 🥵

Wow. That was SO EFFING CUTEEEEE. This lil novella packed a punch of spice tho miss MAAM
Bella’s rise to fame came at a cost- she hasn’t really been living her life. When her agent recommends a fake dating relationship with one of the hottest players in the NFL she figures what does she have to lose? Maverick has been floating along only focusing on his career and the game, devoting himself to someone else has never been a priority. Until he meets Bella.
These two had instant connection that was honestly super believable. Say what you want about the insta lust/ insta love trope I BELIEVE IT SOMETIMES OK. These two were absolutely delectable. I loved Maverick’s caring and consideration to Bella and her needs and feelings. And seeing Bella take some of her power back and start asking for what she wanted instead of constantly people pleasing? Girl GET YO MANS.
Also the found family in this book? Phenomenal. I love the relationship all the guys have- ESPECALLYYYYY daddy Tanner. I cannot wait for his book. I love that Mads and Dia come and swoop this sweet baby (very famous) angel up into their arms and make her feel like she belongs.
But the spice?
The spice was SPICINGGGG.

Okay this was the novella I didn't know I needed until I read it! Mav and Bella's story is so sweet and I love how comforting and protective he is right from the start. The tension is thick and the spice is hot and I loved every moment between them!

Am I late to the C.L. Rose universe? Yes, yes I am! But what a place to start!! 🙌🏻 Thinking I would just pick up a quick read on the recommendation of friends, I was not prepared for how much I loved this 135 page novella and how invested I would become in the characters!

Never in a million years did I expect to love Mav & Bella so much and to devour their novella in a sitting! Yes, their story has instalust/instalove written all over it and moves very fast, but it absolutely worked. It was very Taylor & Travis coded and showed really beautiful depth and vulnerably for both characters.
And GOOD LORD, this novella was SSSPPIIICCYY 🔥 It packs a surprising amount of spice in without compromising on the story and will not leaving wanting. Maverick is the praise KING and had THE MOST delicious dirty talk! With Bella being an inexperienced FMC, I loved that Mav created a safe space for her to explore her needs and treated her like a queen the whole time.
I’m so excited to continue my C.L. Rose journey with the rest of the series and meet the rest of the Blizzard team!!

This book was the cutest fake dating novella ever but also packed the spice and I ate up every single word!!! A pop star and football player being put together in a relationship for publicity by their mutual PR agent but when they meet there is an instant chemistry and connection. If you’ve looking for a quick read that has an adorable plot with all the Taylor & Travis vibes BUT is also SO steamy and hot, then this is the book for you!

He’s a pro football player who doesn’t date during the season and she has been a pop star since she was young so her dating experience is pretty scarce. When they first meet and Mav already held his hand out for her to get out of the car, I was already a goner! They were so just perfect together and I could have easily read a whole novel of these two!!!

Ive seen SO many good things about this author so I had to try one of her books.
The Stunt is a Novella in the Boston Blizzard series, and although it seems to come after Hot Route, I didnt feel like I had missed anything. So I think can be read as a standalone. You bet your butt I will be reading the rest now though!!
Maverick is a Professional Football Player and Bella a Pop star. Mav doesnt date or anything during the season. He doesnt want any distractions. When his publicist asks him to fake date the Pop princess to drum up publicity, he wasnt so sure. Bella, having almost her whole life in the limelight is also a bit hesitant at the idea.
This was instalust but at the same time them developing real feelings felt natural, she is shy & inexperienced and he wasnt some big tough guy. He was so patient and just.. swoon worthy with her! I really enjoyed this. (Especially Mavs dirty mouth!) I was completely drawn in to the found family friendship group & it has left me wanting to read Hot Route & the rest of the series as they come.

A perfect combination of sweet and spicy. Very cute and a short read, and the writing is really good so it is easy to read. So, last week was the superbowl, and my ig explore page was full of T&T… so imagine this, a defense NFL player 👀 and the heartthrob pop singer of the moment 👀 are proposed to date as a PR stunt so his team gets attention (to hype their pass to the final) and to also bring attention to her cause she is going to be the halftime act, i mean is all going to go according to plan, no feelings and a breakup a the end…. day 1 literally and he was obsessed with her and viceversa. Lines were blurred and we got a fluffy, hot and delulu romance, not complaining.
This books is a novella, part from a soon to be trilogy of sport romance book, i haven’t read the first one so obviously the already formed couple that made a appearance was unfamiliar but it didn’t mess with the flow of this book so it can be read as a stand-alone.

Maverick is the sweetest man! The way he cares for Bella is adorable. A very sweet and dirty novella. Filled with nothing but adoration and absolutely NO drama. The instant love was a nice relief and a breath of fresh air. I of course wish it was longer just because I love this series and C.L. Rose is an amazing author. However it was just what I needed to get ready for the next book in the series!

Ahhh I loved this novella so much. It was fast-paced, insta-lust, steamy, swoony and so entertaining. Everything that I look for in a novella.
I'm really happy we got this story even though it wasn't planned. It gave me all the feels and had me smiling the whole way through. Such a great HEA.

Fake dating between a hot as sin football player & a sweet pop star?! These two fit each other like missing puzzle pieces. You can’t convince me that this isn’t the sweetest but spiciest novella. I loved Bella finding her confidence and her sexuality with Mav. These two finding a home within each other was everything. I love all of these characters and this world SO much.

Me: oh I’m not going to get too attached to the characters! It’s just a short novella!
Also me: fully emotionally invested in both characters in the first chapters from their POVs.
This novella was just the best time. It was spicy, vulnerable, and drew me in right out of the gate!
Bella and Maverick are the sweetest low angst couple I’ve ever met and I just love them to pieces.

When I tell you that I could have read a full 300 page book about these two I am not lying. I devoured this book.
Maverick and Bella have an insane amount of chemistry right off the bat. I’m not a huge fan of “insta-love” but for this Novella it made so much sense. Mavericks bed talk was so sexy I just couldn’t get enough.
I hope to see these two in her next books!!

Super fun, extra spicy, and a quick read, The Stunt is the novella I didn’t know I needed. Readers briefly met Maverick in Hot Route, but he wasn’t one of the characters that I was dying for his story. But man, am I glad we got it because he turned out to be a gem of a book boyfriend.
When Maverick’s PR agent sets him up to fake date her other client, pop princess Bella Simon, the two figure they have nothing to lose by some publicity to time perfectly with his inevitable Super Bowl appearance and her halftime performance. What they don’t expect is to actually fall for each other.
First of all, how perfectly did C. L. Rose time this book?! Secondly, Maverick is the most wonderful golden retriever. Bella may not still be holding that V card, but she’s super inexperienced, and Mav is just so good with her and to her. And finally, the spice is spicing, y’all.
Loving this series and can’t wait for Dalton and Dia’s book!!

Is this the cutest freaking novella I have ever read… yes, yes it is!!!! I am obsessed with this series and LOVED getting Maverick and Bella’s story! If you are looking for a book with all the Taylor and Travis vibes this one is for you!!! Also, if you are a hoe for praise kink 🥵🙋🏼♀️ PERFECTION!
Definirely read book one Hot Route first and then this novella which appears to set up the next book perfectly 👏🏼👏🏼 C.L. Rose getting me with that slight cliffy 😏👏🏼🫶🏼 Diving into the next book immediately ♥️

🔸 Nice, easy, short read
No angst, no huge drama, just a simple read to pass a few hours.
Everything lacks depth and seems a bit forced at times.
But the characters are cute with each other even if not the most coherent behaviour and character development.

Very, very short mentions. It is there but more on the background.
Some of the team appear but not enough to give them a proper personality, too single dimension.
🔸Pop singer
The same.
It mentions the show and that she trains for it and that Maverick likes her songs but nothing else.
🔸Too fast & incoherent
Their relationship moves way too fast for my liking.
No build-up, basically no scenes of their everyday life.
They barely get to know each other when they throw themselves into the relationship (and its benefits) and start to think they love the other but the heartache will be worth it.
And no, this was not presented like a one night stand that led to more but an awkward meeting to get to know each other that basically has nothing of that.
It is especially weird if you think they are both famous people.
Which leads to my problem with Bella.
As famous people for several years they should be used to others trying to get things from them, being scandals, incriminating photos or bragging rights of sexual exploits and other things.
So...
Their complete trust in each other right from the first moment and not even some reticence or doubt baffles me.
I get that sometimes you just click with someone. But it bothers me when the FMC remains so innocent for all those years and she has no problem giving everything to someone she is attracted to straight away. She even thinks about being happy for things between them to be only physical which is incoherent with the type of people she is. If she only wanted physical I am sure she had met plenty of people along the years happy to do it with a pop star.
Additionally, there is no doubt about Maverick's words and compliments, she accepts them awkwardly and eagerly and as if she never was praised.
But...
She works in the show business. Having people giving them sweet words and kissing their asses, snakes wanting to benefit from them is more than common.
Of course that does not mean she cannot remain innocent and naive. But maybe a bit more distrustful...like she wants to trust him, she feels a connection and her heart trusts him to feel safe but she had been wrong before, people were only after their bit of fame with her.
For me this book needed a couple of paragraphs where the author gave a good foundation for their relationship. It didn't need the full scenes but maybe a few short mentions like they had met some more times before they gave each other their trust. Just to tidy up a bit.
