When Sofia agreed to join Marcano Enterprises, it was to save her father's cartel. She did not expect to spend her first couple months with the company babysitting the intern.Discovering she is unable to deny her attraction to Gabriel, a college student nearly twenty years her junior, she quickly finds herself teaching him things that extend far beyond the board room.
Neither of them were prepared for how much this one summer would change their lives.

I loved the power dynamic in this book. The last book I read that had this dynamic had me hesitating reading this trope, BUT oh man.. let me tell you, this book and the characters were amazing. I would definitely recommend to read this book.
This is the 3rd book in the Marciano Moguls series. A series of interconnected standalone mafia romance books. This series is fantastic you won’t be disappointed if you jump in.
I loved Sophia and Gabriel’s story. A reverse age gap is my favorite and she’s the bad ass alpha female who can handle herself and is taking over her Dad’s empire, he’s the young, hot, inexperienced intern there to learn from her. The tension is palpable and when they end up with one bed what happens next is hot and spicy!!
Sophia can never fall in love because she can never submit. But what happens when she finds someone who will submit to her? Their love story was so damn cute and I loved the action packed mafia plot line. This books was quick and spicy. I enjoyed it, but I thought it could be longer so some parts felt a little rushed to me.
The spice was 4🌶️ It was super spicy which you expect from JL Quick. I loved the way Sophia doms him but takes it slow. Every time she called him a “good boy” my panties melted. Even though the book is pretty short and very spicy, there is enough plot to carry it. And there’s a decent build up to the spicy scenes so you’re patiently waiting for Sophia to give into the desires since they both obviously feel it.
A couple of my favorite quotes:
“You are a bad fucking bitch. I don’t know how else to say it. The way you handled those men, letting them know that you’re in charge. It was fucking impressive.” ~ Gabriel
I don’t kiss the men I fuck. But for Gabriel, I make an exception. ~ Sophia
“That’s my good fucking boy. Now make me come.” ~ Sophia
Men don’t fall for women like me. They fall in love with the idea of me. What man wouldn’t enjoy an overtly sexual woman? Eventually, they all grow tired of me and my need to be in control. From there, things begin to unravel. He will be no different. ~ Sophia
“There isn’t a man in this world I will let talk to you like that. You’re a fucking queen, cariño. You deserve to be treated as such.” ~ Gabriel
————————— Tropes & triggers: Dark romance, mafia, Alpha FMC, inexperienced MMC, reverse age gap, one bed, he falls first, workplace romance, dual POV, edging/orgasm denial
If you like it Hard and Fast in more ways than one then this is the book for you. With a FMC like Sofia, A Strong Dominate Woman who knows what she wants and how to get it no matter the situation. And the MC Being a legacy within the Cartel who is not afraid to get on his hands and knees to crawl for her. The chemistry these two together make is absolutely explosive, the spice in this book is 🥵 and the plot is absolutely captivating. I have never actually read a Female dominate book like this before and I must say I absolutely loved and devoured this book. This is definitely not my first book I have read from J.L Quick and it definitely won’t be the last, I swear her books get better and hotter the more she writes and I’m so here for it.
Whenever I’m looking for something quick and dirty my girl J.L. never disappoints.
Gabriel thinks he landed the dream internship working at a company his father once did, but little did he know about what the job entails. Sofia gets handed her father’s legacy even though she didn’t want it and in their business a woman in head position isn’t something that’s ever heard of so of course it comes with risks. I love Sofia’s badass attitude and just how she takes control in the boardroom and in the bedroom. 😉 And Gabriel has no problem learning a thing or two from her.
Oh how I missed this universe..and welcome to Sofia and Gabriel. I just ate this one up ASAP! I mean how can you not. Give me a woman who knows her worth n won't settle for anything less and has a strong backbone, that's my kinda woman. And Sofia is all that and more. Gabriel is a young college student who is gonna be working under Sofia and the fireworks that these two make will make your Kindle light up like crazy. A one hand read and scorching hot. This one has everything I love. Grab this one asap!!
This is a quick and super spicy read. JL Quick sure knows how to write them hot and spicy for sure! The FMC, Sofia, is definitely a bossy bad girl. She knows what she wants and doesn’t mess around. The MMC, Gabriel, is a youngin’ still in college becoming an intern for Marcano Enterprises, but it’s not the normal internship he thought. What has he got himself into, literally! 😉 Loved the storyline and of course the spicy time.
This book was such a fun read and certainly one that I couldn't put down. This story is a different take on the Marcano world that has already been build. Sofia isn't a part of that world- she comes from a c different drug family but is her father's only child and a daughter. Wanting to prove that she has what it takes, she forms an alliance with the Marcano's that is essentially in name- work for them since she is good with numbers and they will help her keep what is rightfully hers and make sure that all know who is boss. She never expected Gabe to show up in her office as her intern for the summer. Can she get what she wants and still fall for Gabe or is she destined to be alone, no matter how perfect Gabe may be?
What I loved about Sofia and Gabe is that the both just worked together. Sofia is an extremely strong woman who knows exactly what she wants which for many reasons is why she is still single after all of this time- there is not a man in the world who is going to submit to her in the way that she wants. That is until she meets Gabe. Despite their instant attraction, she is extremely hesitant about letting Gabe get close or letting herself give into her desires. Even after their trip to Mexico, she is still unsure and spends a great deal of emotion trying to keep herself away. It is Gabe's persistence that wears her down to give them a chance- even when the world around them is literally crumbling, he is there right by her side ready to fight if that means he gets one more day with her, no matter what the cost.
It was also really nice to see Gabe's growth. Having lost his father at a young age, he begins this story as a shy twenty something. As times goes on and with his relationship with Sofia, he really begins to blossom in all aspects of his life and it was really nice to see that while he may have some dominant feelings and emotions towards Sofia, he was perfectly content letting her be the dominant one and just go along for the ride. It certainly didn't hurt that they both had such fantastic chemistry and they sizzled off the pages of the book right from the beginning.
Great story, fantastic characters that are well developed and a HEA that gives you all the feels- this was a quick read that I am extremely happy I got the chance to experience.
Title: Intern Author: J.L.Quick Pub Date: March 22, 2024 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
When Gabriel interviews for what he thought was a typical corporate internship that his mother set up for him, he gets way more than he bargained for…When he is offered the job at the interview, he soon finds out that he will be working for a cartel that his father used to work for!
If this isn’t enough of a shock, in walks Sofia, a beautiful woman almost twice his age who is also working with the cartel to keep her father’s cartel in business while he is in prison. Sofia has desperately been searching for a man that will let her take control in the bedroom and has had little success….That is, until she meets and is put in charge of the new hot intern. Gabriel and Sofia can’t deny their attraction and Gabriel is more than willing to submit to Sofia’s every need… both in and out of the bedroom!
Tropes include 🖤 Reverse Age Gap 🖤Strong FMC 🖤Inexperienced MMC 🖤Cartel Romance
This is book three in the Marcano Moguls Series and is told through dual point of views. I had not read the previous two books, but that did not take away from this story at all. It can definitely be read as a standalone and is short, super spicy, and fast paced!….And just as I’d expect from a J.L Quick romance, the spice is consistent throughout the book! I typically enjoy age gap romance where the male is older and is also the dominant, but this book had me hooked from the beginning and it was so hot that I didn’t even think about that! If you are in the mood for a spicy romance that you will finish in one sitting, definitely pick this one up…You won’t be disappointed!
Thank you to Happily Booked PR and J.L. Quick for this advanced reader copy!
his is Book 3 of The Marcano Moguls Series and focuses on Sofia and Gabriel. I loved the tropes in the story as they are not ones you usually see. This is a reverse age gap (we are talking twice his age), he is inexperienced, she controls the bedroom and is not afraid to demand what she wants from a partner.
Sofia was an FMC like no other. Sofia is strong, independent, b@d@$$ women. What sets her apart from other FMC’s is the fact she is not afraid to demand what she wants. She is an alpha and does not apologize for it. In the bedroom and in the office, she is in charge.
At first, I wasn’t sure Gabriel was going to be a strong enough match for her and at first, her personality did tend to overpower his. However, as the story progressed, he came into his own. He loved her enough to allow her to have that control while at the same time, he did not hesitate to protect her when she was vulnerable.
I am not a huge fan of large age gaps. Whether it is the male character that is older or the female character. This is just a personal preference as I am always wondering how they can keep their interest in each other when one has significantly more life experience.
However, I will state that by the end of this book that age gap was not an issue and that is a testament to this author’s ability to write a story. When you get lost in a story and forget about your personal preferences, then you found a good one.
If you want smexy times that may melt your kindle or make your book catch fir3, grab any book written by this author. She can write steam like no other.
🩵 Intern is book 3 in the Marcano Mogul series. Once again, we are taken on an action packed, spicy, passionate ride. JL Quick never fails to deliver top shelf plot, swoonalicious men and sensual spice. 💙 Sofia is easily one of my favorite FMCs. She is ravishing, smart, dominant and knows what she wants and lets nothing stand in her way. Her energy takes over a room and she is boss in the boardroom and bedroom settling for nothing less than perfection. Could I adore Gabriel more? NO, the answer is no. Our sexy, handsome, inexperienced, unwary MMC is in for the ride of his life when his path crosses with Sofia. Sparks of undeniable attraction and sensual desires explode into a fantastic inferno of passion and sexual escapades. Nothing hotter than a man knowing he is bested and willing to trust, concede, learn and enjoy new experiences with his partner. The reverse age gap is magnificent and had me smirking and blushing. 🩵 Action and impending intense danger add layers to this amazing story. The flutters I felt in my heart, having Alejandro and Andres from the previous books make an appearance is everything!!!!!!Their charisma and charm continue to ooze off the page and making me feel flush. 💙Intern is a fast paced, off the Richter scale spicy read with lots of adrenaline fueled plot. JL Quick’s writing is incredible. The characters she creates and the emotions that fly off the page are compelling and all consuming. It may even make you uncomfortable at times, which honestly are some of my favorite moments. The spice is written so thoughtfully and sensually it causes heart flutters and palpitations. She is one of my absolute favorite authors and I have enjoyed each and every one of her books. I cannot get enough and look forward to much much more. Highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a deliciously, dark spicy, contemporary romance.
Overall Rating 4/5 Spice Meter 4/5 Joining JL Quick’s ARC team was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Her books are spicy, quick, full of action, and strong female characters, and honestly we need more of that in the world! Sofia as a DOM, and Gabe is the perfect submissive. The Age Gap, the inexperienced MMC, and the dark story made this one of my favorite reads this year! Tropes: Dark Romance Alpha Female Inexperienced MMC Age Gap Dual POV Mafia (Cartels) One Bed Characters: Sophia: No-nonsense, take no prisioners Alpha Female, this Dom knows what she wants. She doesn’t think she’ll find it in the intern that’s forced on her, but the stars align, and Gabe is there when she needs him. Gabe: 19 year old inexperienced Gabe. God love him, he doesn’t know what to with himself when he meets his new boss. Instantly turned on, he has to ignore his feelings until the night he and Sophia have to go to Mexico on business and are forced to share a hotel room. Some Highlights: - This book is HOT. Four alarm fire hot. I’d never read a female dom before, and rest assured I’ll be reading more of them! I was thrilled to see a strong female character taking what she wanted! - I’m not usually a fan of an age gap, but this one worked for me. It’s only 10 or so years, and I think because it was reversed, (she’s older, he’s young), I wasn’t creeped out. Sophia is also around my actual age, so that might have made me more comfortable as well. - I hadn’t read the first two when I signed up for this one, but I will be going back to read and get context for some of the other secondary characters. It didn’t affect my understanding, but I’d like to know their stories! - I read this in one sitting. JL Quick is just that – QUICK. Her stories are full of action, and they DO NOT QUIT. I highly recommend this author to anyone who is looking to dip their toes into the dark romance category but not too much. Thank you to JL Quick and Happily Booked PR for the opportunity to be an ARC reader!

If you enjoy your books fast and dirty, then Intern is definitely the book for you. I love the mafia romance trope, and Sofia was the perfect example of the type of mafia woman I love—one who knows her place is at the top and knows exactly what she wants and how to get it.
Having taken over from her recently incarcerated father, Sofia has decided to work together with the Marcano family. She's a quick-witted, sharp-tongued, beautiful woman who doesn't have a single submissive bone in her body as she craves control, which she luckily finds with her new intern, Gabriel. The attraction is instant, and there's definitely a spark between the two, which only grows as they spend more time together. Their relationship is fast-paced and super hot. If you like your women in charge, pegging, orgasm denial, edging, and praise, you will enjoy this almost as much as Gabriel did.
Her takeover isn't simple, though, and secrets and betrayal put her at risk, and for the first time in a long time, she has to rely on others. I loved the drama, as it stayed relatively light on the mafia aspect but gave just enough to allow Gabriel to show that while he may be submissive in the bedroom, he was quite capable in other departments.
Sofia takes a job at Marcano Enterprises as a way to help her keep her father's cartel running. What she didn't expect was to be assigned the new intern Gabriel and be expected to show him the ins and outs of the company. Garbriel is still a college student and twenty years younger than she is, but she can't help but be attracted to him. The next thing she knows, she's not only teaching Gabriel things about the company. She's teaching him things that go well beyond business hours.
If you like your books fast, dirty, and hard-hitting, then this is the book for you. Sofia is a dominating woman who knows what she wants in every situation and especially in her men and in the bedroom. Then along comes Gabriel, and he's exactly what she wants. Sofia's what Gabriel wants, too, and he isn't afraid to get down on his knees and crawl for her. These two together are explosive. They have hot chemistry, and the spice in this book is off the charts. There's an amazing plot on this book, too. I inhaled this book in one sitting because I couldn't get enough of it. J.L. Quick became one of my autoread authors after reading only one of her books. She can write some 🥵 books.
I’m new to Quick’s work. This is maybe the 3rd short book I’ve read of hers and they’ve all been dark and dirty. The Intern is book 3 of the Marcano Moguls series and I’ve jumped right into the middle of the series with this book so I didn’t know I was walking into some mafia/cartel stories. It’s been awhile and this was a short story to bring me back into the underworld. I’ve also not read a story where the main character, Sofia, was a domme so that was new for me. I’m not the biggest fan of reverse age gaps either and I was pleasantly surprised with this one. Gabriel didn’t seem lost or anything going into this with Sofia, he wanted all that she had to offer and he was willing to do anything for her. I enjoyed that this turned out to still be a love story, just not your typical sweet romance. I also loved that while Sofia was a fiery character, I loved seeing that she was willing to walk away from the life that she thought she wanted for a love that she didn’t know she wanted. I really enjoyed this series and I look forward to the other books in the series. Would definitely recommend for readers who enjoy mafia dommes.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a copy.
What happens when a woman leads the men in the Mafia, when she knows what she wants and goes after it, when she doesn’t take shit from anyone, and when she loves to take charge not only as the Heir in the mafia but in the bedroom too?? And what happens when a young, handsome, inexperienced, and total submissive man becomes her intern?
J.L. Quick sure knows how to write a great short story with plot and spice!! I absolutely loved the role reversal where our FMC, Sofia is the dominating more experienced sexual partner and our MMC, Gabriel is the quiet, shy, reserved, and oh so inexperienced one. THEN J.L. Quick throws the reverse age gap trope, I mean talk about a dynamic switch from what I’m used to reading!! Oh, & just because this is a short read don’t think there’s no plot, this story is a spiced filled action pact book with a side of golden retriever you won’t be able to put down.
I couldn’t put down this quick, spicy AF book! It features a kickass, dominant FMC, a sweet MMC who just wants to please her, and the “business” they’re in together with the Marcanos.
QUICK THOUGHTS 💭 🖤 Phew - this book was S P I C Y. 🥵 I loved the experienced woman teaching the inexperienced man. 🖤 Gabriel, our MMC, is a sweet puppy who is eager to please Sofia. He comes into his own, going from college kid to cartel man in the span of a few weeks and it 👏 is 👏 hot 👏. 🖤 I’ve really loved this series so far and enjoyed seeing characters from the other books make cameos in this one. 🖤 I LOVED the gender reversal on this one - you typically read about an older, experienced man and his young, inexperienced, female intern. Don’t get me wrong - I love that story, too. But I found this story to be a breath of fresh air.
Thanks so much to JL Quick for the ARC of this book!
The story is about Sofia, the dominant (not only at work also in bedroom), bada$$, strong and independent FMC and Gabe, the sweet MMC who wants to please Sofia in all possible ways. Gabe is such a good boy and the spice was J. L style, freaking 🔥🥵
Gabe takes the job as an Intern with the Marcanos, working at a company once his father did and lands by Sofia as his Mentor. What should go wrong except to learn some "business" from her. 🤔😏
I liked the story and the way how a college guy turned into a cartel man to protect his woman, the fact that she is older (reversed age gap) and that Gabriel doesn't have any problem to learn from Sofia. 😏
Quick never disappoints with a fast-paced, action packed, spice filled read that has you wanting more (and more often than not, lusting after the MMC, FMC, or both - in this case, certainly both).
Sofia is the epitome of a bad-a$$ boss bitch, and she brought it. I loved that she always showed herself as this strong, commanding, dominating woman, but when time came, she showed her softer side.
Gabriel - I loved his innocence and how that quickly swept away the more he fell for Sofia, and I loved that he didn't let her tell him how he felt. That he owned his feelings, and made Sofia realise that he's there for her.
The spice in this one was off the charts, but still aided in the plot moving along.
This was the first novella in the series that I'd read, and can definitely be read as a standalone.
Sofia is everything. And Gabriel? Oh yes. That is absolutely a dynamic switchup I didn't know I needed. The next in the Marcano Moguls did not dissapoint, and I loved having the other men in there to help out with the issues that arise. Wouldn't be a mafia story without some of those, now would it? The story sucked me in, and in true J.L. fashion, there was plenty of delicious angst and spice early on, plenty of drama that made me gasp. I genuinely enjoyed Sofia and Gabriel and the character evolution between them. Sugar was very sweet, and good boy? Yes, please. This is considered a dark romance, so please check the trigger warnings to have the best reading experience. For sure were a couple of new things in there that I wouldn't mind reading again! Thank you for bringing us that in such a hot and spicy way, I loved it! ALL of it!
This is the 3rd book in the Marciano Moguls series. It is a series of interconnected but standalone mafia romance books. I highly recommend you get into the series they won't disappoint.
Intern is Sophia and Gabriel’s story. FMC Sophia is a bossy bad girl. Having taken over from her recently incarcerated father, Sofia has decided to work together with the Marcano family. She doesn't have a single submissive bone in her body as she craves control. New intern, MMC Gabriel is a young college student who is gonna be working under Sofia and the fireworks that these two make will explode into a fantastic inferno of passion and sexual escapades.
J.L Quick is fast becoming an autoread author for me. I have now read quite a few of her books and they never disappoint.
I haven't had the opportunity to read a lot of reverse age gaps. I think I just haven't dive into the trope yet but with JL Quick I know that anything she writes I'm absolutely going to enjoy and this one was no difference. Gabriel is a recent college grad and goes to intern at Marcano Enterprises but what he is interning for was not what he had in mind. Entering a world that he never thought he was going to be part of he meets one of Marcano Enterprises partners and when Alejandro informs him that he will be working closely with Sofia he is in for a world of exploration.
If you love 💫 Reverse Age Gap 💫 Inexperience MMC 💫 Domme FMC 💫 Ørgasm Control

The way I needed this story is nobody’s business but I’ll tell you all about it. No spoilers, of course, but it’s J.L. so you know you won’t have to wait long to figure it out. Gabriel and Sofia are absolute hot as flame H-O-T, y’all. We’ve got that sexy mentor/mentee dynamic, as well as reverse age gap (what do I love more than age gap? Spoiler alert: reverse age gap. I MELT). And their age gap isn’t the only thing that’s reversed here. We’ve got a badass, fiery, and confident Domme- I’m obsessed! In true J.L. fashion, I’m left beyond satisfied while simultaneously wanting more 😈🤤😍 Intern is edgy, spicy af, the perfect amount of action and even some sugar sweetness in the mix. 11/10, absolutely recommend 🖤
This book was definitely a quick read and left me wanting more. This is actually the first book Ive read in this world and have already downloaded book one and two. The main female in this story is awesome. Her work energy and her domme energy was wrote to make you wanna be apart of that lifestyle. The main male character is a younger male still in college thinking he is getting a normal internship but what he doesn’t know he signs up for anyway. His feels for her grow with every interaction. The “smut” of this book was my favorite, the bluntness and the writing just laying everything out for a reader made me giddy. Kudos to you for writing a beautiful story of a female domme finding her forever!
This super quick, spicy novel had me glued to my seat.
Our FMC, Sofia, is confident as ever. She knows what she wants and generally knows how to get it. She doesn’t mess around. While she did inherit her father’s legacy and placed in a position where women aren’t common, reading this short novel told me she didn’t have a problem.
When Gabriel comes in as a fresh intern with high hopes due to his father, the inevitable pull towards Sofia brings him to a weird place in his internship. What was he hired for again? The spice was great and I loved the switch where we have a woman who’s the top, where most books generally have that switched the other way and much more common.
The plot wasn’t lost and I really enjoyed this one. Thank you to JL Quick for the eARC!
When I tell you the best thing I’ve done this year is read this book by J.L. Quick - WOW! Intern was a fast paced, smutty, kinky adventure that I absolutely adored.
Sophia is a Goddess, seriously no other way to describe her. She is hot and fiesty and the queen of her empire which makes her so much fun to read about. Her connection with Gabriel is undeniable and I loved watching their relationship unfold. Gabriel is unconditionally okay with being at her mercy and it was such a great difference from most of the books I read.
It was empowering to read about a woman as badass as Sophia getting what she wants one day at a time, but don’t worry, Gabriel gets PLENTY 😉😉
10/10 reccomend if you are hunting for a quick smutty read that hits in all the right places.
This is the 3rd book in the Marciano Moguls series. A series of interconnected standalone mafia romance books. This series is fantastic you won’t be disappointed if you jump in. This might be my favorite JL book to date!! The FMC, Sofia, is a badass that literally dominates no matter what situation she's in. And Gabriel is just so amazing that he is willing to do whatever it takes to prove his love to her. The fact that he crawls to her and literally worships the ground she walks on is perfect! I also love that we get to see our fave men from Tryst and Crave, Alejandro and Andres, in this one too. So many things about this book are amazing that I would be writing this review forever. In true JL fashion, we get alllllllll the spice, a plot, and a very addicting story that is hard to put down. 5/5 hands down!
These two are 🥵 Sophia is a take charge bad bish that dishes out exactly what she’s given…a cartel princess that never asked for the title…with a cartel who doesn’t want to take orders from a woman what could possibly go wrong Gabriel is the sweet college boy next door that was offered an Internship that sounds great….I mean how bad can it be since his father worked for the company once too….enter Sophia…then all bets are off…he knows what he wants & what he wants is her…lucky for him he likes taking orders from an older woman….& trust me she knows how to give them If you haven’t read Tryst & Crave you don’t have to but I would….this is an interconnected standalone….Andres & Alejandro are both in this book but as secondary characters If you love a great age gap romance with a touch her/him & 💀 vibe give Intern a read…it’s a quick read but has a lot of plot/story & plenty of spice 🥵
This book only took me a day to read and I was intrigued as soon as I started reading!! We get to meet the FMC Sofia and I was intrigued with her character as soon as she met up with two of our former characters! I love a female that is able to take care of herself and not need a man!
We then meet Gabriel and this sweet guy is in for a wild ride when he comes face to face with a past that he didn't know about and the woman that leaves him having wet dreams at night!
All I can tell you book friends is that as long as Jl continues to write ill be there every step of the way!! Get this book quickly!.
