Este libro salió a la luz cuando estaba a punto de iniciarse el programa de actos que conmemora el primer centenario de la muerte de Verne, que falleció en 1905 dejando tras de sí todo un mundo en tránsito. El cuento está arropado por textos de Juan Carmona de Cózar y Juan José Téllez que vienen a colación.

ESPAÑOL: Relato muy corto de Verne sobre la "conquista" de Gibraltar por un ejército de monos dirigidos por un loco y su liberación por un general con cara de mono.

ENGLISH: A very short story by Verne about the "conquest" of Gibraltar by an army of monkeys led by a madman and its liberation by a monkey-faced general.

E eram temíveis pelo número, esses macacos sem cauda, com os quais só se vivia de acordo consentindo-se nas suas pilhagens; esses seres inteligentes e audaciosos que todos fugiam de molestar, porque se vingavam —isso sucedeu muitas vezes —, fazendo rolar enormes rochedos sobre a cidade.
