Another Arranged Marriage #4

The Pirate's Treasure

Rate this book
“I have watched you from afar for so long. ‘Tis only fitting, as I breathe my last, that I do it in the arms I’ve longed to feel around my person for two plus years or more.”

Rojan Purchanting, Pirate Captain, and half-brother to the King of Gunkermal didn’t mean to blurt out fateful words as he stumbled into Petrov after a disagreement with a knife. But the Goddess of the Moon and Sea works in mysterious ways. Rojan soon found Petrov following him out of castle windows, into houses of ill-repute, and riding beside him as they chase down the threats to Caspian and Nikolas, still bristling with the innate confidence and protectiveness that had caught Rojan’s eyes years before.

“I’m going to work on keeping the foolhardy man alive first. Anything else we’ll count as a bonus.”

Petrov, Duke of Moorland has been a confidant and friend to King Consort Nikolas for most of his life. He really didn’t need to be following around Caspian’s half-brother, hoping the fool man wouldn’t get himself into more trouble. But somehow, it quickly became all he wanted to do.

It’s the only thing left I can do.

Determined to keep Rojan safe by any means possible, Petrov decides the only way to do that is to enter into a Marriage Contract with him. But as the danger to Caspian and Nikolas gets closer to home, Petrov wonders if he’ll ever know the true Rojan Purchanting. Would he be pirate captain, prince, or king?

While most of the books in my Another Arranged Marriage series can be read as standalones, readers will understand more about the motives of the secondary characters and main plot points if they have read The Infidelity Clause first.

I like it, it's good, but there's something about it that doesn't click with me like the first three did. Which is sad because I was looking forward to Petrov and Rojan

After reading The Infidelity Clause (Caspian and Nikolas's story), it was very enjoyable to read this book and get Rojan and Petrov's story. Rojan is a pirate captain and the half-brother of Caspian. For the past three years, Rojan has had his eye on Petrov, Nickolas's best friend and sometimes bodyguard. Now, with the impending marriage of Caspian and Nikolas, Rojan and Petrov come together again.

I won't spoil it by telling all the things that come next. The book is fairly low-angst with a lot of changes in their relationship. There are plenty of good times and adventures. Sometimes, things seem to work out exceedingly well, which just adds to the fun. This book has supportive friends and family, madcap adventures, pomp, passion, and a beautiful devoted love.

Kings, Consorts and Pirates Ahoy

Just loved this sequel to ‘The Infidelity Clause’ by Liz Oliver. I’d been waiting ages for this to become available, not realising I had already purchased it and was hidden among 700 odd others awaiting my attention. There are 4 books in the series

This is Petrov and Rojan’s story. Petrov was Crown Prince Nicholas’s Right Hand Man and Rojan is a famous Pirate, but also the half brother of Crown Prince Caspian.

With Caspian and Nickolas now married, there is still a Lot of skullduggery going on with the members of High Society families and the disgraced legitimate sons of the dead King. Both Rojan and Caspian were Royals due to the fact that the eldest son ironically named Paragon, had SA’d two women more or less at the same time. Thus there is still uncertainty as to whether Caspian or Rojan is rightfully a Crown Prince.

Petrov not realising that Rojan had noticed him 3 years ago and had fallen for him, it didn’t take him long to start admiring this infuriating Pirate who had a heart of gold.

Both Infidelity Clause and Pirate’s Treasure are Book 1 and 4 and feature the same MC’s, Nickolas and Caspian. Book 2 and 3 set in the same Fantasy world, feature two separate MC. Couples, also Princes.

While there is passion between Petrov and Rojan, we don’t get any hot and steamy scenes, but that didn’t detract from an exciting story fought out in the Palaces and High Seas. I’ve got the others in the series but read these out of sync because they featured the same characters and I wanted to see how it played out. Very happy I did too.

3.5 stars recommended to be read in order.
This is the second book that I've read in this series after reading Book 1, it helped that I'd read a previous book to know some of the back story which is needed.

A good start with a small prologue of the Captain spying on the hills above the ships docks below with one man in his sights.

Petrov was a Duke and bodyguard in charge of organizing his friends, King Caspian and Nikolas’s safety. Nikolas wanted Petrov to find his partner in marriage which he rejected many a time.

The pirate captain, Rojan, was the King's consort's half brother and had his own agenda for Petrov. Hed had baggage from when he grew up in his younger days.

Troubles are afoot as the King is in danger with his life being targeted.
Dramas happen and Rojan is stabbed, a good coincidence that Petrov is near to help.
Scenes play out with trust and safety issues along with treason within the castle.
A slow romance with feelings not included until after the halfway mark. I would have loved to feel the characters' emotions in this. This is an arranged marriage story, I was disappointed when the scenes were skipped over when Rojan first heard about the contract. A good ending to the story for an HEA written in 3rd person.

I totally fell in love with the pirate. It seems that Lisa is casting one half of her romantic couple as the strong, dedicated, devoted romantic and the other as a unique individual.

Ebook, which Goodreads doesn't list (shocking! also, sarcasm!), read.

I really felt like this was the weakest of the Arrange Marriage series. No real 'arrangement' to the marriage at all, no pretense of building feelings instead of just 'instalove!', & nothing interested me in the plot.

Absolutely ASTOUNDING!

This was Lisa Oliver's best work by a wide margin, and that was a high bar to cross. My heart is pounding so hard and I just want to scream but ill try to do this justice.

Petrov and Rojan. Holy crackerjacks. For real. They were each other's perfect foil in every way, but at the same time they were so alike. Seeing Petrov' s control and propriety slip as the story unfolded; Rojan's deep sense of honor and right... This story unfolded BEAUTIFULLY. Every letter, every word was expertly crafted for optimal excitement and romance. No kistake, this is HIGH romance. The vows at the pirate wedding nearly had me in tears and I challenge anyone not to mist up a bit from that exchange.

Plot wise most of the loose ends were tied up which is disappointing unless Madam Oliver is willing to write more historical-esque pirate fantasy romance books. Which I genuinely pray she does. The narrative and dialogue were flawless and witty. Like Jane austin but with gay men and pirates.

IMMEDIATE reread and adding this to my most coveted kindle collection. Zero regrets on this author, but especially this series and this book.

I want temporary short term amnesia so I can read this book again with the same sense of wonder that I just experienced. Seriously, its that good.

best read after the first book in this series.

One of the best books in this series. It focuses on Caspian’s half brother Rojan and Nicholas’s bodyguard Petrov.

When threats are made to remove Caspian as King it’s up to Rojan and Petrov to find where the threats are coming from and neutralise the people involved.

Secrets will come out and it takes all of Rojan’s and Petrov’s resources to ensure the safety of the new king and consort.

Great story with engaging characters and a good plot. Recommended definitely.

Pirates and royalty

This is a complex book mostly about one couple of Rojan pirate captain and half brother to King Caspian and Petrov best friend to Nicholas, husband to Caspian. Given the family dynamics Caspian and Nicholas are a part of the story but mostly is is an action pack adventure of Rojan and Petrov. This book builds on book one of this series which I did not read but was able to enjoy anyway. It is a well written, fast moving, rollicking and romantic tale with Ms. Oliver's customary HEA.

Lovely addition to the Arranged Marriage series

It was so good to get Petrov’s and Rojan’s story, and also to see Nikolas and Caspian again. I read there story when it was released but just listening to the audio of The Infidelity Clause so the timing of Pirate’s Treasure was perfect. I am also glad to hear Lisa may have other stories in this series. The mix of magic and engineering has been really interesting.

This is another grand adventure in the Gunkermal world and the sequel to book 1 about Caspian and Nikolas. Lisa Oliver knows how to drag you in with her words and won't let go until you finish. I had high hopes for Rojan's story, but this was even better than I expected. It is one of my favourite stories, with action, magic, unexpected twists & turns, romance and a whole lot of fun. In short: Amazing characters, amazing story. Highly recommended.

Lovely

I really enjoyed this addition to the arranged marriage series. It was great seeing the continuation from the first book. I had initially read the books out of order, as I was not sold on the description of the first. I am so glad I went back and read them all as they are all great! I love the historical feel with some modern touches and of course, magic!

Caspian and Nikolas from Book 1 join Petrov and Rojan in this novel. In fact, Petrov asks Caspian to arrange his marriage to Rojan in the guise of keeping him safe. This was such a fun read as we learn about the pirate life Rojan had lead before being entangled in his brother Caspian's noble life. Rojan's protectiveness of Caspian is so heartwarming.

I love this series

Roman and Petrov did not disappoint. I absolutely adored this book. We get a continuation of the plot behind Caspian and Nikolaus, from the point of view of the half brother pirate and the bodyguard best friend. I loved how it all turned out. A truly delightful read!

Another (fabulous) arranged marriage story! Read this series in order, and they're all excellent, well worth the read. This time the story is from a very special pirate's point of view. Complex twists & turns, well-written, and outright fun!
Thank you, Lisa!!

I agree with the last reviewer. It just didn’t read the same as the rest of the series. It could have been so good. But it felt like someone else wrote this story. Even the vocabulary was different. Disappointed because I really enjoyed the first three books.
