As co-author of this book, my 5-star rating seems self-serving and probably not credible. But the story within the covers speaks of thousands of people pulling together to collaborate through three major crises and coming out stronger and in a more sustainable position. I am humbled and honored to share the story of the University of Idaho during crisis and how a non-traditional leader kept the institution solvent and strong. Crisis #1: financial. The University of Idaho faced a $45 million hole over three years and only had 18 months of cash as of July 2019. Crisis #2: COVID-19 hit and sent the university scrambling on how to manage the safety of its communities, on campus and around the state of Idaho, while not losing traction gained on the financial issues. Crisis 3#: A heinous capital crime against four university students again sent the university family and surrounding area (as well as nationally and internationally) reeling from the shock, horror, and aftermath. All three crisis situations could have derailed the university, but under the leadership of President C. Scott Green, hired July 2019, who was also a proud alumnus, the institution weathered the storms and proved its brave and bold stance against any foe trying to bring her down. Green shares his point of view and dozens of managerial insights; the book merges stories of over 50 people interviewed for the book's contents. This isn't just a managerial book for university presidents and academic leaders; it's for anyone leading or managing business and people in private or public sector. The unique thing about this book is that it's written with a balance of business and creativity that will keep you turning the pages until the very end. Don't take my word for it (although I did help write it); get a copy and prepare to be amazed at the story of how thousands of people with the like mind of keeping a university sustainable and relevant in a competitive higher educational world worked through three crises and came out in a more sustainable position, ready to face inevitable future crisis situations.
