Mob Sorcery #2

Mob Sorcery 2

Rate this book
Vince finds himself going up in the underworld, but the mafia is far from the only gang in town.

The city is abuzz with an international sorcerer's conference, and the mayor is cracking down hard on anything that might make him look bad. But Vince is out to get that bag. That means fulfilling his enforcer contract for the mob, police crackdown be damned.

Other powers in the underworld aren't sleeping either. Vince still has a vampire assassin after his head, his enemy's powerful backers don't appreciate losing territory, and there's a new player on the prowl with an interest in the Lionetti Family.

Oh, and Vince's girlfriend and the mafia don's sister have some seriously bad blood between them. Might want to sort that out before they literally tear him in half while fighting.

Okay I didn't like Pola from the start but in this book how the MC lets her use him to hurt Nina, yes she may be interested and really want him it doesn't change she used him to hurt Nina, and he like a total class A douchebag let it go, it flarking ruined the book for me. What he should have done was get up and walked out on her and tell her he wouldn't tolerate his women using him to hurt each other like that.

He should have went home to Nina, instead he let himself be used by both Alessia/Pola then lets that little girl and spoiled bitch Pola gets away with crap.....author wrote this very stupidly and Pola and Nina should have met, worked things out first and really he should have added Fia or Nicki next while Pola did some growing up.

Seriously how is anyone suppose to like that cunt, she's selfish, violent and thoughtless and mean spirited. She is literally a violent spoiled princess.

Also the MC acts like a real douchebag and tool in this book in how he treats Nina vis a vis Pola and even Nicki and Fia. On the one hand he claims he's not sure Pola is more than a one time fuck and yet he is willing to damage and fuck with his relationship with Nina, his girlfriend, to whom he is a househusband for a one time fuck when he already has the okay to fuck others simply cause he cant be honest with her etc etc or give her a modicum of fking respect. It's like the author is unable to make the male MC act consistently and just ignores aspects of the MC's personality to "create" harem drama....

Also it looks like the author is going to further fuck and disrespect Nina by making him "marry" the spoiled princess Pola and or Alesia at some point for "reasons"......

The later half of the book is better but this first half ruined it for me so 2 stars.

This has been a surprising monster girl harem urban fantasy. Slightly different world, but familiar enough for easy world building. I like the creativity, even if some of the monster girl flirting with the MC is a bit over the top. I will get the next book in this series, and might try a book or two from another series.

No time passes?

I'll start off by saying I'd probably give this a 3.8/5 absolute max but Amazon would poo poo on the book just because it isn't 5 star. Which this book doesn't deserve.

It's okay, it felt like no time has really passed between the start of the series and the end of this book. I'm not asking for a "two years later" or anything but I feel like we barely see any growth from Vince as a person, and nothing at all strength wise.

It feels like it's barely been a couple weeks tops in the story and now all these Uber powerful people and entities are messing with him and he just sits back and waits for life to punch him in the face and he takes 30 seconds and somehow barely manages to escape the situation.

I'm not a writer and I don't know what all goes into these but, I just didn't really feel much passion in this book I suppose. I also don't really like Pola's character but that's probably just because I feel like time hasn't really done anything and these characters haven't had a chance to grow.

I hope these come off as some kind of helpful and I don't want to be condescending or a jerk, because honestly K.D. is probably my favorite author honestly, and while I may not purchase this book I'll still read the next one.

My opinion is K.D. Robertson is the best author that writes anything with a harem is because I usually feel like he cares and also allows his characters to grow and become more than cardboard cutouts or not he's on the MCs "gun". I really like his the ways he writes his characters and feel this book did not allow that to come through at all. This it is left with everything else that is pretty good but not amazing.

If there's a flaw with this author's work, it's that his (admittedly fantastic) plots move a bit slowly, and he doesn't write super fast.

Which is a problem, because by the end of this book not a ton has happened, book 3 isn't out yet, and I want to know more about what's going on!

On the other hand, that's a better problem to have than "the book is boring", which is decidedly not the case here.

In summary: Good book, good series, highly recommended, but if book 3 isn't out yet you may end up frustrated just like I was...

Great continuation

Intrigue and Vince's power expands throughout this book, while he slowly sheds his hesitation and asserts himself. Looking forward to the next one!

I enjoyed the story

Right up front I'll simply say that I recommend this book to anybody reading this review. I'm not 100% sure what's going on with the author. The fella seems consistent and deliver some pretty awesome stories in my opinion. More details are available through his redacted from Amazon. Subscribing gets you the normal early chapters and what not. My favorite story from this author is the heretic spell Blade series. If you haven't checked it out already I highly recommend you do so. As far as this story is concerned we have our main character facing down some serious Heavy Hitters. The one thing I didn't like about the story was the death of the Good Samaritan which was a blinking you missed it sort of thing. If that's the only thing that I didn't like then I'd say the book is in really good shape. I am quite interested in where the story goes from here. While he is technically only with the one lady he was with in the first book he has sort of kind of added another plus what appears to be three hopefuls possibly four. Personally when it comes to these kind of stories I think five is a good place to be on the outside. Any more of that and some author seem to struggle with keeping the character more than some sort of two-dimensional facsimile. Lastly it's my understanding that sometime in late January the first book will be receiving the audio treatment. I'm definitely looking forward to that and well enjoy doubling back to revisit the story from the beginning. With that I'll simply say well then to everybody who had a hand in bringing the story to us, the Amazon readers.

Probably my favorite harem series.

I’m definitely invested for the long ride now. Nina is definitely my favorite so far. Next being Nicky, her relationship with Vince is adorable and wholesome. Fia is definitely best wolf girl. Pola, Pola, Pola, sigh! I know she supposed to be the main attraction for the MC, and every other character wants to force it to happen so bad. But Pola is my least liked, she just come off as a annoying hyper-aggressive teenager. Thank God for Fia, because she is the only one not afraid to tell her to shut up and grow the fuck up. I don’t even feel no real chemistry between her and Vince. The first book Pola only had 2 moods with Vince, wanting to fight or fuck him. This book she didn’t grow on me any, but instead I fell more in love with Fia. I do enjoy Nina and Pola rivalry though. There was one part in particular in this book where I strongly agreed with Fia and Vince should have been more mad at Pola. But he just brushed it off passively because Pola is supposedly the hottest chick in the story, to him. Enough ranting about Pola. Story is hell of fun and I like every character overall. Definitely going to follow this series all the way through.

Fantastic Sequel

K.D. Robertson just keeps knocking it out of the park. Mob Sorcery 1 really surprised me and really scratches that urban fantasy itch. And this one just continues it for me. The characters are all great with some teasing/hinting about some of them and their deeper desires and what pushes them.

If you're more interested in the romantic side of things I think this entry will satisfy you. Lots of flirting that isn't just wolfgirls whistling and howling (there is still that though lol). Also a bit more spice this time around so in that respect this entry is more comparable to heretic spellblade then neural wraith

The sequel follows on in the same vein as the first book. Vince is a lovable dumbass that's satisfyingly good at beating up his fellow criminals. A lot of the relationships in the book are pretty sweet and believable (though this series suffers the same as most harem books from having too many female characters, but it's not as bad as most). Overall you can feel the characters settling in to who the author wants them to be and it makes for a good read.

There are some phrases the author likes to use that make me think the book was ghost written by space aliens but nothing too egregious. I'm still going to re-read it.

TLDR: I liked it, as I liked book 1.

I have struggled to find books recently which I can get into sufficiently to finish without being attracted to some other shiny object, but this is an exception to an anemic selection of late. I like the characters, and there are a surprising number of them for how well they are handled. Some better than others of course.

I will be happy to see how Vince develops, or even how he survives what's coming in book 3. This is an ensemble cast in many ways, as the MC would NOT survive without his coterie of variously talented babes, and random others.

Good follow up book.

I liked this book better than the first one. Part of that is that I’m already invested in the characters, but I feel we got a welcome deeper look into many of the characters introduced in book 1, and introduced some new ones. People mentioned in passing last time out play a bigger part here. Also fun to get a deeper exploration of the world and how a broken masquerade in WW1 made this world different from ours.

The conflict grows.

My only complaint is that this felt like necessary world building without much being resolved, and left me with a lot more questions than I started with. Other than that I LOVED it. The characters and their relationships continue to broaden and deepen. The world building remains fantastic. The mystery continues to deepen. Hopefully we get the next installment soon, and this doesn't get abandoned like it seems Demon's Throne was.

This book was a glorious continuation of the first book.

K.D. Robertson continues his mastery of the written word in this wonderfully intricate story of a man getting caught up in major events and hanging tough where few expect him to survive. The MC is a fantastic character, and the women in the story are dynamic and very much individuals instead of cardboard cutouts.

I am really looking forward to book 3.

Better than the first

This book was even better than the first. Have to admit this series was not hitting me at first (unlike Demon's Throne) but boy did it finally start to hit right with this book. From the new characters building up and knowing more about Vince and his potential future power, plus the flirting and sex is just a great bonus on top. Can't wait to read the rest of the series and hopefully to see more. So far K.D Robertson is the author for me.

An unexpected surprise - Book #2 is as good as Book #1

I did not know what to expect in Book #1. It had been recommended to me, however, the synopsis did not do the book justice and I kept passing the book by until I was out of anything else to read. I finally downloaded it and I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and characters of Book #1 while figuring that Book #2 would fail to meet my now higher expectations. Book #2 met those higher expectations. On to Book #3!

Complete package-magical madness & delight.

Thoughtful, fun , adult entertainment really makes me look forward to book 3 and the continuation of this story! Also gives me hope to read other fun adult, but complicated & twisting stories of fantasy with substance more than fluff!

Absolutely Awesome

Wow! What an absolutely amazing book. Great action, complex plot with twists and turns. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. What I really like is how the MC is not overpowered. He is having to figure out how to win with magic that is not always stronger, or as strong, as his adversaries’. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Solid Sequel

Everything about book two improves on book one. Higher stakes, more magic, more depth, and more lore. More than a few mysteries are teased, and characters start to develop in interesting ways.

Another amazing book that really captures your imagination with the detailed world built in it and making all the characters feel alive with their own wants and backstories.

Solid, if not inspired. These books are basically the other two series crossed together, which is fine, it works pretty well. Not sure they ever explain why all the ladies love cool Vince, though? Oh well.

Another fun volume. Lots of action and a couple solid laughs from interactions between the girls in V's life. V continues to draw more frequent and powerful attention from groups in the city. It was good.

Good Action Fantasy

Set in an alternate Earth where magic is real and dominated by conglomerates staffed with 'enforcers' used both for orotrction and dirty deeds. Power struggles abound as do mysterious characters. Book 1 in series was also excellent.
