Alex Quinn #5

Fifth, Wrath

Rate this book
Interpol agent Alex Quinn, 29, born to Italian-Turkish parents, is a multi-lingual genius. With an advanced degree in Criminal Psychology from a university in France and a PHD from a Germany university, Alex was recruited by Interpol at the age of 25—their youngest recruit—because of her encyclopedic knowledge of serial killers.

In a desolate landscape in Turkey, a body is found murdered beside the flames of Chimaera—victim of a serial killer with a twisted theology, and whose work is just beginning—unless Alex can stop him in time.

Imagine an action movie that never learned the meaning of “pause,” then shrink-wrap it into 150-ish pages and sprinkle a dash of theology on top. That’s Alex Quinn’s latest romp. One minute we’re chasing a fire-and-brimstone killer through Turkey’s eternal flames of Chimera, the next we’re ducking down twisty Istanbul alleys. I swear I could smell singed stone and cheap coffee the whole time.

Every chapter ends on an old-school cliff-hanger, the kind that used to keep me reading under the covers with a flashlight (sorry, Mom).

Chimera’s perpetual fire feels like something snatched from a myth I half-remember, which makes the modern cat-and-mouse even more weird.

Alex Quinn is brilliant, tough, and still bleeding from childhood grief. If you’ve ever nursed a private vendetta in the shower (just me?), you’ll feel her ache.

The killer’s obsession with Wrath gives the case a neat thematic thread without tipping into da-Vinci-Code cosplay.

Secondary characters blur like faces in old Polaroids — blink and you’ll forget who’s who. If you’re new to the series, Alex’s long-game hunt for her parents’ murderer might feel like wandering into the last reel of a soap opera. The prose is full throttle — think exclamation marks skidding across the page. If you crave quiet literary prose, this is more Monster-energy-drink than aged Scotch. Folk on here hover just over four stars; Amazon readers are head-banging closer to five — everyone’s shouting about “couldn’t put it down.” Treat this book like a shot of espresso on a sleepy Sunday- it won’t change your philosophical outlook on wrath and redemption, but it’ll jolt you awake, scorch your fingertips, and leave a smoky grin on your face. If that sounds fun, grab it, plop on the couch, and let the pages burn by.
