From feud to forever with my brother’s best friend…
Jason Clovely is my brother’s best friend and my former tormentor, and just my luck—he’s in Windmere for the holidays at the same time as me. It’s been ten years since I’ve seen him, and surely we’ve grown up since then.
Right?
When we unexpectedly end up stuck in a cabin together—cue all the cliches—we make a truce to act like adults in our forced cohabitation. And let me tell you. We did some very adult things. The lines between animosity and attraction become blurred, and the person who used to be my enemy turns out to be someone I want to spend time with.
We decide to continue our ceasefire while we’re in town, and to my surprise, we’re having an amazing time together. Worse, I’m dreading the inevitable goodbye when we return to our lives outside of Windmere—separately.
But Jason’s been holding something back, and it’s something that might crumble not only our fragile truce, but my heart as well.

I read this book in one day--almost one sitting, haha. The story pulled me in right away. Kate returns to her small town for the holidays and is reunited with her brother's tormenting best friend after ten years. I cannot get enough brother's best friend books, and while I initially worried this book would read like all the other holiday romances, it doesn't! It's sooooo good, and I highly recommend it. It's fresh and even the take on the one-bed/snowed-in trope was different. I loved it, but the banter was *chef's kiss.* The chemistry of this couple is perfect.
Spice is definitely hot in this book. Surprisingly so, to be honest, haha. It's a slower burn with the spice hitting maybe around 35/40% mark (didn't check exactly), but once it hits. Wow. A lot of time spicy scenes can make me cringe, but KC writes the best spice. Seriously. It's emotional *and* hot. All the banter/character building before the spice was so entertaining that I didn't even care if it ever came. Until I read it, lol. It just made the story that much better.
Looking forward to reading Beau's story next. As a younger sister, I found their sibling dynamic so relatable and hilarious. Curious to see how his story will go and will for sure be ordering that book when it drops.
5/5 star read for me. I'd read this book anytime in the year. This is one of those sweet and steamy comfort reads that I'll for sure buy for my shelf. I highly recommend it!
I really enjoyed this frenemies to lovers book. It starts out slow and really builds the story, weaving a beautiful, slightly tortured, past for the characters. I really enjoy how the FMC is strong and hasn't let her past define her and owns her sexuality and the MMC isn't afraid to be emotional or talk about feelings and mental health. Great characters and story line.
I received an advance copy of this book and am leaving an honest review voluntarily
I was all in for this story about Kate and Jason! I loved it from the minute they ran into each other until the end of their story! The writing was very descriptive, and I felt a part of the story. I would love to read more about Kate and Jasons story. I feel like it's far from over! Im excited to read about Beau and his story and see Kate and Jason intertwined within that story! Look forward to reading more by K.C Everly.
Thank you to the author for giving me an ARC of this book!! This book was so good, I read it in an entire sitting!! Kate and Jason’s chemistry was so good and the playful banter and the holiday theme! Everything just worked so perfectly together. I could not get enough!!
For Always was a really enjoyable small town romance set at Christmas time. This story had some of my favourite tropes brothers best friend, enemies to lovers with the perfect amount of spice. The chemistry between Kate and Jason was perfect and so was their journey over coming their past. I really enjoyed this story.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I finished this last night, and I can't get Kate and Jason's story out of my head! This indy author is exceptional at connection and communication with her characters. They come alive and feel incredibly REAL! Her male characters always impress me, but DAMN this one is perfect in all the right ways and flawed so sweetly. I had many moments of not seeing what was coming, and as soon as I tried to guess what might happen, I was wrapped up in the present with them again. Many scenes I had tears streaming down my face from either relating, empathy, joy, nostalgia, or how beautiful some of the intimate moments were. Everly has a humor I really enjoy, and she brings a wittiness to her characters that is unmatched. I loved how much I laughed!
THE SPICE! Although this isn't the most spicy book I have read from this author, it was the most intimate. THEIR CHEMISTRY!!! It amplified every scene, and I literally couldn't stop reading! The desire was tangible and so fun to read.
This is the sort of book that you can read whilst having a silly grin on your face! The setting was perfect. The scenes were funny and heartwarming. I loved neurotic Kate and flirty Jason. Their chemistry sizzled and their banter added another layer that kept me engrossed. Heck, I carried on read this book until the early hours of the morning as I couldn’t put it down! This is the perfect feel-good story and is an absolute must-read. 5 stars!
I was so surprised at how good this was! This is my first book by this author and I had pretty neutral expectations going into it, so I was thrilled when I loved it so much!
This small town, forced proximity, brother's best friend romance had all the sweet charm you could want and lots of funny moments, but paired with matters of the heart and the best spice. It takes place during the holidays, when Kate returns home for the first time in years. Not only is she home for the holidays, but so is her older brother Beau and his best friend Jason that always teased her growing up. They may be adults now, but the teasing continues and their banter is too good!
I loved that Jason had been in a long-term relationship. So many books have that character sleeping around for all those years 😂 so it was refreshing to see a man that had only been with one woman! His family situation really made me feel for him too and just made the relationship he had with Beau and Kate's family that much sweeter.
Everything about this story was perfect and so well written! I swear, the whole time I was reading it I kept thinking "how have I not read this author before?!" I was missing out! I immediately bought a couple of her other books to read after finishing this one.
This book was so adorable, fun, and FUNNY! I laughed so much, but there were simultaneously so many emotions in the book that made me feel all the feels. The chemistry of all the characters was exceptional.
Very well written, and while a slow burn, did it BURN when Jason and Kate got together. Oh boy. This book hit the mark for balancing story and steam. The story enhanced the emotions in the steamy scenes and they were actually really lovely AND hot.
K.C. does dialogue between characters exceptionally well. It pulls me into the story, and this is no exception. A few surprises along the way. While the HEA was expected, I had feared a big miscommunication blow up at the end, and for characters in their late twenties/early thirties, that would have pissed me off. But K.C. didn't do that and I am SO GLAD. There was enough angst to drive to a super satisfying HEA with the sweetest declaration of love, but not over the top or unnecessary.
Brother's best friend trope done right. Loved this one so much. I'd read it anytime of the year, for sure. I'm really curious how Beau's story is going to go. While he was definitely the quintessential "older brother," their relationship in the book felt very real to me, haha. Relatable, too. I'm curious how he'll show up in his book and who will catch his attention. I have some guesses!
Honestly, I just blew through The Boys From Clear Lake Series over the course of the holidays in December, but I just picked this book up yesterday, and I haven't read a book so fast! Spent a lazy Sunday reading the entire thing and loving it. I love the Clear Lake books, but I think For Always is my very favorite K.C. Everly book to date. It just hit so many marks! Definitely recommend (can you tell that I'm gushing?) I'll be thinking about Jason and Kate for a while and re-reading this book. Bought myself a physical copy immediately upon finishing so I can read it anytime.
This story is the classic crushing on my brother’s best friend story! This book won’t disappoint you with the ups and downs of discovering who you were meant to be with has been in your life all this time!!
I really enjoyed that the characters were older more established adults. Yes there was drama but the characters were able to be rational at the end!!
This book also has the spice if that’s your thing! A definite must read!
I LOVED this one! The characters were extremely likable and relatable. I loved the character interactions and I loved plot of this book. I have to say, after reading this book, I am definitely a fan of the brother's best friend trope in romance novels. This was such a fun read and I highly recommend!!!!
This is definitely one of those thin lines between love and hate. I really didn't like Beau or Jason at first ... they were so mean to Kate and teased her every chance they got. I felt bad for Kate because she would get so flustered and then do something that they would tease her more about. I did find it a little slow at times, but the spice kept me going ... lol. I could definitely feel the chemistry between Jason and Kate right from the start. I can't wait for Beau's book even though, in my opinion, he's even more of a jerk than Jason. I wanna see who's gonna put him in his place.
Jason is Kate's older brother's (Beau) best friend and the two of them have been tormenting Kate since they were young. When Kate graduates she moves clear across the country to New York. She hasn't been home for three years, so she decides to go home for the holidays. Once she's there, she finds out that her brother invited Jason to spend Christmas with them as he has no family and has recently split with his long-term girlfriend. She hasn't seen him for ten years ... and the torment starts the minute the two guys get in the door. She decides to go to the family cabin for a day or two just to get away from them. She never thought Jason would show up shortly after she got there and when a winter storm sets in, they end up staying at the cabin together for two nights. Their relationship will never be the same.
I can never thank K.C. Everly enough for allowing me to read her ARCs.
KC Everly has honestly become the perfect palate cleanser for me and has also become one of my favorite contemporary romance authors. Her books deserve way more hype! There is such an easy natural feel and flow to them I’m always instantly drawn in. She is an auto read for me no questions asked. 𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝑨𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 was no exception.
I don’t know where to begin to gush on how sweet, spicy, and amazing this book was. The spice, the banter, the romance, the pinning, and even what I would consider their meet cute after not seeing each other after 10 years. Behind the childhood jabs and teasing develops such a true love and admiration for each other. This couldn’t have been a better Christmas read for me but honestly I feel like this will need to be an all around comfort read to go on my shelf. I absolutely loved Kate and Jason’s story. From beginning to end I could not get enough of them. It’s always refreshing as well to have characters whose personalities are written so well that you can really feel all the emotions when reading. It was easy to snuggle up on my couch and get lost in this swoon worthy story.
Tropes: ❄️Brother’s best friend ❄️Childhood friends ❄️Fantastic banter ❄️Frenemies to lovers ❄️One bed ❄️Spicy ❄️Forced proximity / snowed-in ❄️Standalone
Thanks to KC Everly and Booksirens for the eARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Beau and his best friend, Jason, loved to tease on Beau's little sister, Kate, growing up--and it seems like nothing has changed in the almost 2 decades since they graduated from high school...unless it has? With all of them back in town for the holidays, will Kate and Jason's story be like one of her author's? (Kate is an editor for a romance-focused publishing company)
overall, this was a really cute holiday romance novel, that I didn't realize was a holiday romance to begin with. I really enjoyed the banter between Jason and Kate throughout the book and seeing how both of them dealt with their own issues of finding love. Despite how much they may tease each other, they were never truly frenemies :).
The writing really helped move the plot along and I really felt like I was in the Dalton household watching this all unfold. I really love how no one even questioned when everything went down; it was like they always knew that those two were meant to end up together.
i saw that Beau is getting his own book so I'll be twiddling my thumbs waiting for that to come.
I read this book in one sitting! The banter was so, so good! I laughed so much during this book and just loved the dynamic between characters --all of them!
Kate is home for the holidays and reunited with her brother's best friend, Jason, when Kate's brother brings him home. Jason tormented Kate as kids, and she's not excited for the reunion. Especially since her crush on him hasn't seemed to dissipate. After a faked forced snow-in and a very steamy truce, Kate and Jason realize the depth of their feelings.
The characters were so well developed that they felt real and the story really builds and builds until it just explodes with all the feels. So, so sweet and swoony, tons of laughs, and a satisfying hea.
Don't let the premise fool you. This isn't just a holiday novel with good steam to cozy up with in December. This is the perfect read all year long. Can't wait for Beau's story!
Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) Audiobook: N/A Feelings: 🎄🎅🤶🎁😖😩😳❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️🥰😍🥵🥵🥵🥵 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (4/5) 18+ Open Door
If you know me, I am a HUGE sucker for cabin vibes and snowed-in. 😉
Within "For Always," we have a brother's best friend who was a "bully" per se to our FMC when she was little. After many years, it's time for a family reunion style during the Christmas Holidays, and they are both not looking forward to it (but for other reasons.) But when you get snowed in a cabin, many feelings are going to come out. When I say he falls hard, he - falls - HARD. 🥵🥵
100% this would be a five-star read, but what happens in the end annoys me in books. (Only because it happens in A LOT of books. lol) BUT K.C. Everly is now on my watch list, and her books are on my backlog because I want more from Everly! lol
I received an advance review copy for free (thank you, Book Sirens and K.C. Everly,) and I am leaving this review voluntarily; thank you!!
𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: brother's best friend, enemies to lovers, one bed, Christmas
𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀: death of a loved one
Beautiful cover ✔️ beautiful story ✔️
The chemistry between Kate and Jason is strong and hot, but Kate is not yet ready to get over all the things her brother and Jason did to her in childhood. But will staying in a cottage just the two of them for a day change their lives? Of course it did!!
I really liked the development of the characters, especially Kate's, but also how the author balanced the plot and the spicy scenes very well. Girls, be prepared because Jason is a dirty talker and knows how to make a spicy scene extremely steamy.
I loved this book and can't wait for Beau's book!!
Thank you K.C. Everly for the opportunity to read this amazing book in exchange for an honest review.
Oh my tender heart. I read For Keeps before this one after getting it on SYKD and of course had to eagerly read this interconnected standalone about Kate and Jason. Jason is Kate's brother's best friend, and the two had a bit of an enemies vibe (though more like bratty younger sister and teasing jerk older friend). But reunited at Christmas in the small, absolutely charming town of Windmere, they "get snowed in" and find themselves coming to a VERY agreeable truce.
I love the way Everly writes brother's best friend tropes and the banter and teasing was great. Heat doesn't hit until later (50%ish), but when it does... It is everything good in this world. Everly writes hot, emotional, and steamy so damn well. Loved this cute book and it's perfect for anytime of the year (though I'll be reading again in December!). Can't wait for Adam's story!
I always sign up for a KC Everly ARC when given the chance, but almost missed this one because of the holiday chaos. I'm SO glad I caught it!
Kate and Jason's story is such a treat. Hilarious and we'll done banter, sizzling chemistry, suuuuuper steamy scenes that were so, so well done. I loved this book!
If you're looking for a solid brother's best friend, frenemies all grown up, one bed (and a fun road to get there), and general swoony read? You NEED to read this one.
I know it has a holiday theme, but I wouldn't at all classify this as a holiday read. For sure will read again when it releases. This is one I'll purchase for my bookshelf. Five very enthusiastic stars for this one!
An incredibly well written romance that will captivate you from start to finish. A small town, Christmas read that will take you on a hate, love, emotional roller coaster. Kate has been teased by her brother Beau and his bast friend Jason as she was growing up and now, years later they are all back in the same small town for Christmas. Has anything changed?!? Jason has liked Kate for a while now but hides it behind his teasing of her...will he come out with his real feelings, and will Kate be able to trust him? Such a great read will all the emotions and steam you would want. Great characters and a smooth flowing storyline that will grab you and won't let go til the HEA!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I really do like this author, this isn’t my first ARC from her and I’ll definitely keep reading her books.
This was a really good story with quite a few tropes, brother’s best friend/second chance/frenemies to lovers/forced proximity story, definitely something for everyone.
You get engulfed into their world very easily with the story telling and the writing by this author.
Loved both of the characters, and also the side characters too. There was great chemistry between Jason and Kate.
I was worried at first on how the climax was going to go, it actually kept me from reading it for a couple days cause it felt very predictable but the author surprised me and it didn’t disappoint.
Heartfelt smalltown enemies to lovers romance 5* What happens when your brother’s best friend who was your childhood crush and who along with your brother mercilessly bullied you throughout your childhood and in school is coming to stay with your family for the entire Christmas holidays? Is forgiveness automatic or is it earned? Another option is getting stuck in a remote cabin during a snowstorm and having a very steamy few days to get rid of their frustrating attraction. Is that even possible? After a lot of soul-searching, eating humble pie, and having honest communication, Kate and Jason finally find their HEA. Very happily recommend this novel to all.

I received an ARC for free, and I am happily leaving this review voluntarily. K.C. Everly's characters are always *so good*, and this book is no different. I loved the relationships, especially in Kate and Beau's family. The side characters aren't just throw aways to be in the background. Besides Kate and Jason being adorable, the banter in this book (between them and big brother Beau) is so good! It felt like such genuine sibling conversations - the teenage teasing, the annual holiday bets… I smiled so much while reading this.
I super enjoyed Kate and Jason's story and I'm excited we'll get to see more of Beau in the future!
Wow, so good! This author's novel's never seem to disappoint! This novel had so many things I love, a small town romance, childhood enemies, and great banter. From the very first chapter I was a goner, this novel reached out and grabbed a hold of my heart and did not let go. I did not want this novel to end. I loved Jason and Kate. Their chemistry was off the charts. I loved this story. I love when a novel can make me laugh out loud, almost bring me to tears and finally leaves me with a happy heart. This novel checked all of my boxes. I loved it! I can't wait to see what this author has coming next.
This book was the perfect book to kick off my end of the year vacation from work. The two main characters, Kate and Jason were perfect enemies to lovers. Great banter they shared and I loved what a fireball Kate was! The beginning is a little slower but everything quickly comes together and author is great at tying the past to the present with little things here and there. I stayed up way too late reading this one and would highly recommend anyone looking for a great romance with the holidays theme thrown in to pick this one up and get cozy!
I am not going to lie, I hated how Jason and Beau continuously pushed Kate's buttons until she would lash out then she would be the one to be painted as the bad guy. Not only were they cruel but it was 2 against 1. I am glad we got to see both Kate and Jason's povs otherwise I do not know that I would have come to love him by the end. Once I overcame my initial dislike of Jason, I loved him for Kate. He was exactly what Kate needed to break out of the bratty teen role people put her in while she was home so she could be the confident, fun adult she became. I cannot wait to read Beau's story!
surprises and revelations Kate and Jason´s story tells us it´s never too late for second chances, childhood memories can be evaluated differently after so many years and when times get rough, you find out who is really worth keeping at your side. I liked how they got to know the person they are now and how after navigating the obstacles in their way they found their well deserved HEA. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Loved the banter in this one... Between all of the characters!!! Kate and Jason pulled me in immediately. I adored the family dynamics too. Looking forward to Beau's story! The sibling banter is and tormenting is on point, lol.
If you love brother's best friend, frenemies to lovers, slow burn with amazing banter, this is for you. Spice is spicin'!!! The emotion and chemistry between Kate and Jason shines in the steamy scenes and really, are just so well written and done.
