Defy by Sienna Snow is the second book in the Violent Delights series and it follows the tumultuous love story of Sophia Morelli and Damon Pierce. I have conflicting feelings about this book because while I loved their sexy relationship, I also thought it was extremely messy due to the miscommunication and secrets between them. At one point, I was very frustrated with Sophia because she was being immature and disrespectful towards Damon—especially with her safety and refusal to tell him the truth. The fact that she had a murder charge over her head did not deter her from danger at all. It doesn't help that Damon tolerates her bratty side and seems to like it when she talks back to him. They were truly opposites in terms of personality because while Damon is possessive and controlling, Sophia is defiant and highly values her independence due to past trauma with her parents. It was a recipe for disaster with a potential for heartbreak.

In the end, I enjoyed reading the continuation of Damon and Sophia's story even though they frustrated me at times with their decisions. As expected, the sexual chemistry between these two was super steamy and I wanted more of that instead of the unnecessary drama because of the murder charge. It is unfortunate that Damon and Sophia will need to sort out of their own issues before they can truly obtain their happy ending. Sophia is the type of person who does not like to be controlled but Damon thrives on that feeling because he views it as being protective of her. I am curious to know how Sienna Snow will end their story because the book ends with heartbreak once again for the two of them.

Two things … One, I am enchanted and more than a little bit pleased with the character growth in this leg of the trilogy. Two, I am less than enthusiastic at the overall road this story took in this leg of the trilogy. So, that has me flummoxed.

I’m not disappointed, per se, over what I read, but I’m not overjoyed either. I wanted Sophia & Damon’s relationship and its growth to be what captivated me and kept me turning pages, but that’s not what happened. What kept me turning the pages is a mystery plot-point outside of their relationship. Did this mystery bring them closer together? Sure, of course, but I wanted the dynamics of them to be the focus. I can’t deny that the length of the installments coupled with the length of time between them is not frustrating as well. I’m just a giant mess of frustration right now!!

GRRRR, I can’t imagine anyone reading this and understanding where I’m coming from, but I can’t really give you details because, spoilers, so …

I am very invested, borderline obsessive, in the Midnight Dynasty world that focuses on the warring Morelli & Constantine families and I’m looking forward to reading how Sienna brings Sophia & Damon to HEA in a few months! Until then …

Oehhh this book continued Sophia and Damon's story so good! I am going to try not to give anything away but their story has been a rollercoaster so far and I love it.

The dynamics between Sophia and Damon are very interesting. Even though he is the dom, she loves loves to defy him. It makes them work so good together. Their chemistry is hot.

Defy, the second book in the Violent Delights series was captivating and breathtaking. Damon and Sophia’s relationship is still as beautiful as it is devastating, sad at times but so full of love and contentment. They live in a lonely world, and have found each other in a time of hopelessness.
This couple lives in a world of secrets and lies, always watching their enemies, allies and friends blurring the lines of righteousness. Trust is easily given but faster to lose

Book 2 in the Violent Delights Trilogy picks up right where we were left hanging in book 1.

With the murder charge looming over Sophia, Damon is getting more and more possessive and controlling. As her Dom it's his job to protect and Damon accompanies her everywhere.

But Sophia is fierce about her independence, she just refuses to become trapped by a man like her mother is. Even if she is wildly in love with the enigmatic man, she will not give up her independence.







I've enjoyed reading this, but am confused about the murder of the rapist. Did his father help the murderer? What was that???


The dynamic between Damon & Sophia is highly sexual and hot. I really liked how she refused to completely surrender to him, outside of the bedroom, where she was his submissive. But outside, she was her own person, with her own secrets. A person who lived her life, not caring about judgemental people.

Damon and Sophia will have to deal with their issues, how to meet in the middle and find a mutual satisfying way to coincide in an equal partnership.

Review:

The second book on the Violent Delights series starts with the big mess where Sophia is in jail being charged for a crime she didn’t commit and now they (Damon and her mainly) have to prove she is innocent. Sienna’s way of telling the story is very entertaining, this is the second time I read sth by her and it makes me read more.

The secrets, the path to find the real criminal, Sophia’s interactions with her family and other secondary characters and the intimate scenes, all of that I really liked. However, I feel like I loved less both MCs. They were equally irritating im their own way and got on my nerves in more than one occasion. Most drama in their relationship seemed to be exaggerated and unnecessary if they only took some time to listen to each other.

Nevertheless, I am now very invested in their love story and have to know how this ends, how they stop acting silly, start really trusting each other (neither seem to really do) and overcome their differences.

Well I was disappointed in the amount of BDSM that was in the first book. It was some spanking and that was really about it. So Sienna Snow did up the kink in this book, which is appreciated. I did like this book better than the first one but it still did not grab me as much as I would have liked. There's just something that's missing and I can't quite put my finger on it. This book has twists and roller coasters and so it's kind of fun and it's also kind of frustrating (which is also fun Lol). I think I'm going to wait until the third book comes out in December and I'm going to reread the first two right before that and that's going to make me come to a final conclusion on how I feel about these books. All of the midnight dynasty books have cliffhangers, but these ones are kind of taking me out of the story a little bit. Overall, do I recommend these books? Yeah, I do. I like all the midnight dynasty books with the exception of one author. I just might wait to read this trilogy together.

I'm torn with this book. I really enjoyed book one and the relationship that was building between Sophia and Damon. I like that their relationship continued to develop and they were building trust. It felt like Sophia was finally realizing Damon cared about her. The issue I had is that the pacing was a bit off with the story. It felt like they moved from 0 to 60 so fast. Also, I didn't care for the cliffhanger. It felt unnecessary, especially given how the romantic suspense wrapped up. It felt like a way to get a third book, which feels a bit unnecessary.

Defy is full of mystery and steam as everyone tries to figure out who killed the abusive designer. Sophia is suspect number 1 and taken into custody. Some high up people want to make an example out of her, resulting in her sticking in jai until Damon can pull strings. Damon is in this for the long haul but is growing frustrated by the lack of trust she shows him. As the mystery heats up, the danger and steam do as well, but someone bound to get burned.

Sophia is very feisty and bratty. Partially, with good reason given how she grew up. I understood why she was averse to the relationship Damon wanted but wished she could've budged a tiny bit. Damon is controlling and protective but head over heels for his woman. There's plenty of spice to go around in this book, and I love how the mysterious death features prominently. Overall, this is another great book, and I'm looking forward to more Sophia and Damon!

Defy by Sienna Snow is a story that catapulted me out into the ozone!! It follows Damon and Sophia. She’s a fashion model…in high demand. He’s entranced with her and wants more from her. Things go crazy when she is arrested and accused of the murder of a fashion mogul that she has modeled for.

This story was full of embarrassments, shocks, unexpected situations, deception, secrecy, and so much more!!! Damon is utterly devoted to Sophia…but, she has her doubts…especially given her past. Sophia defies him at every turn....and he's torn by it!!!

I was completely immersed in this story and didn’t want it to end!! Well….it didn’t! There’s another part to the story that will (hopefully) answer all our questions…and bring this story to its rightful conclusion!! Ends in a major cliffhanger!!

This is a direct continuation from the previous book and it’s the 2nd book in an uncompleted trilogy, so it cannot be read as a standalone.

I preferred this book to the last, I felt like there was more of a plot with the murder mystery aspect, which added tension and angst.

I really enjoyed Sophia and Damon’s Dom/Sub relationship, there were so many hot moments. And lots of push and pull between the two.

The story is really fast paced and short, which is good but also it means we don’t really get to know the characters enough to fall in love with them.

But overall I enjoyed and am looking forward to the finale, as this one is again left on a bit of a cliffhanger.

I didn't love it as much as book one and the end was unexpected for me. I think the mystery part was what I actually enjoyed the most out of it.

I have been waiting for this book for soooooooooo long!!!
Claim (book #1) ended on a cliffhanger so I have been waiting to find out what happened after that huge cliffhanger was dropped.

This book did not disappoint!!
We find Damon and Sophia navigate this new normal for them as a couple. Sophia feels like she can't disclose something to Damon regarding the predicament she finds herself in and Damon cannot accept the fact that she doesn't trust him with this secret. It puts huge strain on their relationship. Sophia wanting to be free to be her own person and Damon just wanting to protect her.

The sexual chemistry is still EXPLOSIVE between the two of them!!! The way they trust each other physically is beautiful.

Some of my favourite quotes/spice:
"All I knew was that I'd bask in her beautiful fu**ing tears. I honestly was a sick bastard to love her sweet, sweet tears."

"Since your cu*t is currently weeping all over this psycho's co*k and begging for me to fill it, I'd say you're just fine with it...."

Now I knew this was part of a triology but the way book 2 ends broke my heart into a million pieces!!! I need to know what happens next ASAP!!!!!

I love Sienna's writing and I cannot wait for Own - the conclusion of Damon and Sophia's story!!!

Defy by Sienna Snow, is the second book in the Violent Delights Series, in this book we pick up the story where we left it at the end of Claim, with Sophia behind bars for a murder she did not commit and everything indicates that it's a move to go against her family, and although her parents no longer care what is said about Sophia, she is more than determined to clear her name. Damon, for his part, is completely enthralled with Sophia and will do everything possible to protect her, but when there are secrets that Sophia still keeps, protecting her will be difficult for him and he will question her feelings towards him and if she will ever be able to fully open up to him. Both will have to make changes and face their past to give themselves a real opportunity, only we will have to wait for the next book to find out if this couple will get their happy ending and get answers to the questions that we left in this book.
A story that has gripped me since Claim, intriguing, exciting and full of suspense, I loved the characters from the first book, in this I battle a little towards the end with the lack of communication between them, but I continue to support them and I hope they receive the happy ending they deserve. Highly recommended!

Damon por su parte esta completamente cautivado con Sophia y hará lo imposible para protegerla, pero cuando hay secretos que Sophia aún guarda, protegerla se le hará difícil y se cuestionará los sentimientos de ella hacia él y si ella alguna vez podrá abrirse totalmente a él. Ambos deberán hacer cambios y enfrentarse a su pasado para darse una oportunidad real, sólo que deberemos esperar al siguiente libro para saber si este par conseguirá su final feliz y obtener respuestas a las incógnitas que quedamos en este libro.

This was part two of Damon and Sophia's journey. As part of the Midnight Dynasty world, it was another thrilling and entertaining ride. It picks up where the cliffhanger left us in Claim. Sophia's predicament added a compelling mystery to the plot. The main characters' growth was evident, but the plot had me questioning some things. It was almost impossible to put down, and while reading, I was kept on the edge of my seat. The increase in heat level left me very satisfied. I definitely recommend reading this. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

Defy is the second book in the Violent Delights series, and it cannot be read as a standalone.

This book picks up right where the first book, Claim, left off. Sophia is being accused of a crime she didn’t commit, but Damon is right there beside her to ensure nothing happens to her. He is going any length to find out the truth about what happened, but Sophia refuses to tell him.

Sophia is bratty, sassy, and feisty. She knows what she wants, and she isn’t afraid to tell Damon. She also doesn’t have much care for her safety as she’s constantly putting herself in dangerous situations.

Damon is very over the top protective, possessive, and obsessive. He really does love Sophia and wants to keep her safe, but she doesn’t make it easy for him.

The relationship between these two is tumultuous at times. There’s a lot of secrets between them; Sophia likes her independence, but Damon tries to control her. So, there are arguments over his controlling behavior, but also her clear lack of regard for her own safety.

The spice though? It’s hot. They have a D/s relationship, and their spicy scenes are very kinky.

And of course, this book ends on a cliffhanger, after a slightly enraging scene. I cannot wait to see how this all ends in the last book!

Defy is the second book in the Violent Delights series, and it cannot be read as a standalone.

This book picks up right where the first book, Claim, left off. Sophia is being accused of a crime she didn’t commit, but Damon is right there beside her to ensure nothing happens to her. He is going any length to find out the truth about what happened, but Sophia refuses to tell him.

Sophia is bratty, sassy, and feisty. She knows what she wants, and she isn’t afraid to tell Damon. She also doesn’t have much care for her safety as she’s constantly putting herself in dangerous situations.

Damon is very over the top protective, possessive, and obsessive. He really does love Sophia and wants to keep her safe, but she doesn’t make it easy for him.

The relationship between these two is tumultuous at times. There’s a lot of secrets between them; Sophia likes her independence, but Damon tries to control her. So, there are arguments over his controlling behavior, but also her clear lack of regard for her own safety.

The spice though? It’s hot. They have a D/s relationship, and their spicy scenes are very kinky.

And of course, this book ends on a cliffhanger, after a slightly enraging scene. I cannot wait to see how this all ends in the last book!

This is book two of Sophia and Damon’s story. While we still don’t have their HEA, I was so happy to see some character growth with these two.

I loved that Damon stopped at nothing to protect Sophia and get her out of the situation she was entered at the end of the first book. He was winning me over with how fiercely he cared for her, and had me swooning a time or two. Then when the next obstacle came along, he disappointed me with his martyr self.

I still absolutely loved Sophia and her strength throughout the book. Just like in book one, she remained strong and independent. I loved how she spoke her mind and stood up for her beliefs. I loved how fiercely she protected those she cared for too, even if that meant she had to take the fall for something she didn’t do.

I absolutely loved Oliana!! I’m definitely going to have to go look and see if she has her own book. If she doesn’t, then I’m really hoping that she gets one!

I’m excited for the next book to come out so I can see how Sophia and Damon struggle through even more obstacles while still growing individually to find their way back to each other.

Y’all this book was SPICY, which I was expecting after the first book, Claim. This is book 2 of 3 in The Violent Nights trilogy.

This book pics up immediately where the first book left off. We get to dive further into the relationship of Sophia and Damon, and the possessiveness/protectiveness that Damon has over Sophia. Sophia is still a strong, independent woman who is trying to allow Damon in without losing herself. I truly am enjoying this series and cannot wait for book 3!

Now for the good stuff, this book is spicy, as I previously stated and there are so many sweet and HOT parts that keep you wanting more. I will say the fashion school scene was *chef kiss*. If you need a spicy series this is it!

WARNING: This is the second book is a new UNFINISHED series, and it ends on a cliff hanger. It also is one of those books that could easily be read again right before the next one comes out.. so take a chance and read it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️ The story was ok. I definitely enjoyed book 1 much more. This one didn’t have as much suspense or what it did have was just out of left field &didn’t make sense to me.

* What annoyed me a lot was that everyone could read everyone’s minds…like this isn’t a fantasy book. You can’t meet someone for the first time &know what they are thinking with zero context to the situation. I just feel like that happened a lot throughout the story.

* I didn’t feel the relationship between Damon &Sophia was natural in this book. It was just very yo-yo for no reason.

* I do plan to continue the final book in the series when it comes out to find out what happens because this book also leaves you on a cliffhanger.

I really struggled with this second book in the Violent Delights series, unfortunately. I wasn't sold on this couple in the first book, but was willing to see how things went and for me personally, it got worse. The story seems too simple, with everything having to do with the mystery plot painfully obvious because it is out of nowhere, and the romantic relationship having unnatural dialogue and inconsistencies in thoughts or behavior from how the characters were portrayed or acted previously. There are several steamy scenes which is, or could be, a plus, but I feel no chemistry or heat between the characters around them so they just fall flat for me when they happen. I'm not one for complaining about improper BDSM (in fact, I prefer it when it is not so formally portrayed), but this couple does not come across as D/s to me at all, even accounting for the "brat" tag that is used repeatedly by both to describe her as that type of submissive.

Something I did love were the flashbacks of her childhood memories of her parents, and what that meant for her in the present (and especially what it means about her parents' lives, whom we already know from all of their previous appearances in books across this shared world). In gambling terms, I'm plot committed now, so I will read the last book to see how things wrap up (and to get any more Morelli/Midnight Dynasty crumbs since I have loved this world as a whole).

Note: I read an ARC copy of this book that had lots of errors still, and am assuming those were corrected prior to publication and thus not reflecting it in my rating. If they were not, I would subtract a star from my rating.

Defy is the second book in the Violent Delights trilogy. If you haven’t read the first book in the series, Claim, be sure to go and read that first! Trust me, this book picks up right where Claim left off and you’ll spoil it if you start with this.

I have a whole host of mixed feelings about this book. Don’t get me wrong, it was written well, the suspense, drama and spice was all there. First off, I always have the least love for book 2s in trilogies. They are pretty much the go between from the learning of characters in book 1 to the eventual resolution of the craziness that has happened by book 3. Normally, I wait until a trilogy is complete before I start reading a series. I am an instant gratification-can’t stand the anticipation- type of girl! However, as Sienna was ever so kind enough to extend an ARC, I couldn’t say no! Secondly, I was left a little off and confused by the ending for this book. I don’t do spoilers, sorry, so this review will be vague but, the MMC does something that I almost feel is out of character for the type of person that he represents? Idk, I just felt like, those last 2 chapters were a bit rushed and I would have liked to read a better ending than that. If anything, I think the book would have been better if it ended on chapter 17. Despite all this, I do LOVE a FMC that is super independent and bratty like Sophia and an extremely overprotective MMC like Damon so I was by no means bored reading this book. Honestly, I have high hopes for this last book! I have sooo many theories about the ending for this book, of course, I won’t share them here as I don’t like doing spoilers but, maybe I’ll spill if my theories came to fruition in book 3.

If you’ve read Claim and loved it like I did (despite the cliffhanger—remember, instant grat type of girl) then you NEED to read this book, it does have resolution for the issue brought up by the first book and it will also leave you questioning and wondering what is up Sienna Snow’s sleep for the last book? December can’t come any sooner!!!

Damon + Sophia = Holy Hotness, Batman

This is book 2 in the violent delights trilogy and Oh my goodness is it awesome.

When we left Damon and Sophia in Claim, they had come to an agreement and were working on their relationship. But things were about to change.

There were forces outside of them at play who wanted them both to suffer, and not in the fun way, by trying to set Sophia up for murder. Damon does all he can to protect Sophia from not only the charge, but also the people who want to see her fail.

This is a story about 2 very strong willed and independent people trying to find their way through their pasts and present and into a future. It's not an easy road but if they can make it through it will be well worth it.

This is NOT a soft and sweet romance. It's gritty and hard hitting (in so many ways) and it's smoking freaking hot too. I mean seriously hot and schmexy. It does have BDSM in it so if that's not your thing this probably isn't the book for you.

This is also not really a stand alone novel, it's part of the trilogy and you really do need to read the first book, Claim, to be fully up to speed on this one. It is well worth it to do so.

Sienna Snow has an amazing gift as a storyteller. Her world building and character development are simply incredible. She wonderfully and beautifully portrays all the myriad emotions of the human condition. From the guilded cage to the lowest of the low. It's a roller coaster ride for sure. But I love roller coasters so it's a thrill ride I can't resist. Enjoy.

I almost launched my kindle thanks to that cliffie. The chemistry and character growth was great and engaging and had me totally invested. The push-pull of the murder frame-up kept my attention and the story moving along.

And then, all of Damon and Sophia's growth as a couple was set on fire to get us to book 3. So, so frustrating. The curse of the middle book rears its ugly head.

The second book in the Violent Delights Trilogy has arrived!

Damon and Sophia return and their lives are turned upside down. Accusations of murder, fighting a faulty system, watching over their shoulders for danger and trying to solve the mystery of who actually killed a man they both despise brings them together in a capacity they didn’t expect. When you are together almost every moment of the day it is impossible to deny the feelings that are rapidly building, especially when the passion is off the charts. Damon and Sophia are insatiable together but they need to stop fighting the feelings they have for one another because is their past life experiences and allow the connection they have to keep them together. Readers get ready for another heartbreaking cliffhanger before the conclusion if this trilogy in Own.

Umm what happened at the end??? I am still recovering from the twist.

We start out with Sophia Morelli in jail for the murder of Keith Randolph. To see a Morelli in jail is a dream for many law enforcement, to finally catch one. This is Sophia fall from grace but she comes back stronger. There is a power shift in Damon and Sophia relationship, the struggle to navigate a relationship neither of the have experienced. Damon is complicated and still recovering from Maria death, copping with what could be. While the mystery of Keith Randolph death is hanging over their head so it the trust in their relationship a deeper one then the physical they are used to. Now Sophia is her true test to prove everyone wrong about the strong woman she is!

Thrilling continuation of Damon and Sophia's story.

In this second part we pick up where “Claim” leaves off with Sophia in jail for murder. Ms. Snow weaves a page turning tale that mixes the unravelling of the murder investigation and Sophia's life being at risk, with the super spicy kink that is Damon and Sophia's physical love life. That scene in the design college, whew... hot, hot, hot!! I think these two are a great couple, she oozes sass, as he is broody, and overprotective and their banter makes for great reading. Shame he doesn't think he's worthy of her, guess we must wait for OWN, the conclusion to the Violent Delights trilogy to see if these two can find happiness together.
