Redemption Comes to Cottonwood ˃˃˃ Deputy U.S. Marshal Timothy Dillion has had a terrible two years. First one, then a second love dies of a bullet wound in his arms. He is broken and afraid to love again for fear of causing another woman to die. Imagine his surprise when traveling with Marshal Nathan Ryder, aka: The Preacher, he ends up in Cottonwood chasing an outlaw from his past. One who caused the death of his first love. Add to that he's tasked with protecting Nell Shaw, the towns only nurse and a beautiful woman in her own right, from Dales attacks.
˃˃˃ Nell Shaw doesn't need a man Nell hasn't felt safe with a man since the night she ran away from her fathers advances. She has been living with Aggie Cuttler, Nathan's aunt, since she was fifteen. Now in the course of a few months she is kidnapped by Diamond Dale, forced to let the young and handsome deputy be her constant shadow, and had to deal with the return of her fatally ill father. She is drawn to Tim but doesn't want to belong to any man.
˃˃˃ Attracted but Conflicted Can these two overcome their separate pasts to find happiness with each other? Can Nathan Ryder and his wife find the healing they need from the betrayal the suffered in Redemption? Will Aggie finally get to take her knife to Leonard Shaw like she wanted to when he came to claim Nell the first time? Or is there healing in the Redeeming Love of Christ?
Sophie Dawson has been making up stories in her head ever since she was a child. She lives with her husband on the family farm in Illinois. Two grown sons, a daughter-in-law and granddaughter round out her immediate family.
Sophie does all kinds of needlework and was a professional machine quilter in the past. She loves to travel, read, garden and now write.
In her books, Sophie shares the wisdom God has taught her in stories of faithful living. Her hope is to demonstrate how acting and reacting the way the Bible teaches can bring a positive impact on her readers.
I enjoyed the continuing story of Nathan Ryder The Preacher! Having a co author this tale has a slightly different twist, but it has all the same level of adventure amidst the love story of Deputy Marshal Tim and Nurse Nell!
This book contains several typos but the story is good, and the writing is solid! I miss the narrator since I've been listening to the previous books in audio format but I'm looking forward to the next book in this series!!
Welcome to Cottonwood, Iowa! For readers of the Redemption series by George H. McVey, you may not be familiar with Cottonwood. I suggest you read the preceding three Cottonwood books before this one and vice versa for those reading through the Cottonwood series. With the preceding books tucked into your memory, your reading adventure will be richer, fuller, and so much more fun.
Again, famous fictional characters are woven into the fabric of this tale of healing and love. Nathan, Grace, and little Cindy along with Tim Dillon, follow Nathan's calling to Cottonwood to bring justice upon a nefarious villain. There they make new friends, find lasting love, and healing. Another delightful read.
I gave four stars instead of five as the editing was not done well. The formatting was messed up and in some places each sentence in a paragraph was separated from the others with an empty line between. Other typos and even some deleted sections of sentences made the narrative difficult to follow. What I could read of the rest, was a story filled with intrigue, romance, and a touch of history. If this were to be re-edited, it would be top notch.
This is a very entertaining & fast moving story. For those who like a good Western with lots of gunplay, it has that. For those who love a good romance, it has that. And for those Christians who want Scripture & life lessons, it has those also. An all around good read!!!
Nice flow from book 3 to 4 but once again those annoying editing/ proofreading errors. A few times, a whole phrase was finally flung in about three sentences from where it was supposed to be. Sloppy work does not sell future endeavors. I really love the Ryder series but wish it was a smoother reading experience.
I just love a book that 2 authors have written. When Sophie and George get together they create a wonderful book that is a continuation of the books that Sophie has written. I love historical westerns and this one like the rest of the series I thought was just so good. Sophie and George hit a grand slam when they wrote this one!
I really enjoy this book series. It's a lot of fun and keeps the reader interested. I recommend this book series to anyone who likes clean historical romance adventures.
"Redeeming Love" by Sophie Dawson and George McVey is another five star book in the Redemption Series. I have read the first three books in the Redemption Series by George Mcvey but this is the first book in the Cottonwood Series I have read but after reading this book I went and brought the other three books in the Cottonwood Series by Sophie Dawson.
Ever read a book that when you read the last word you think I want to keep reading this story , well I just finished one like that and it is the fourth in the series and they have all been that way, and I don't even like Westerns, ( well I didn't till I started this series by Pastor George McVey and now I don't want to stop reading about Nathan and the whole cast of characters, I would love to see this series as a movie, yes I would even watch this western till the end.
"Redeeming Love" starts in the town of Cottonwood where Diamond Dale is causing his latest round of trouble. Diamond Dale is shot and kidnaps "Nell" to take the bullet out and Nathan and Tim arrives in Cottonwood and comes to the rescue. Diamond Dale stirs up plenty of trouble in this little town and nothing is ever the same for this group of characters that I have come to love, ( yes I feel like I know these people ).
Not only is Cottonwood's citizens's lives changed,so is Diamond Dale's but not in the way I wanted it to be, but that is what makes these story seem like real life!
I am glad that Nathan's life is going to end up the way I wanted to! But I am not going to tell you if he gives up the guns and the badge and returns to the pulpit or if he does neither of these things! I will tell you to get the series and read it, you will fine yourself cheering and laughing and holding your breath at the scenes in these books!
I was given a pdf file of this book by one of the authors for my honest review
Redeeming Love by Sophie Dawson and George McVey was just as good as Redeeming Reputation, Redeeming Trail and Redeeming Grace. I did notice the slightly softer story line with the addition of Sophie Dawson's storytelling. This added a nice touch. Nathan is still the Preacher, unsure of his calling. The other characters are also present,Grace, Cindy and Tim, along with a whole town of new folks. In Redeeming Love we learn more about Nathan's family and background.I hope to see future collaborations between Sophie and George, their style of writing compliments each other and produced a smooth enjoyable story. While I was given this book by the author for review purposes, the opinions are my own.
I have fallen in love with the characters from Cottonwood and now I am feeling drawn to the characters of Redemption. When I started reading Redeeming Love I did not realize that it was tied in with another series. At first I was disappointed because I didn't know their stories but the authors did a good job telling enough of their back story to just reel you in and make you want to go read the other series. If you have not read the Redemption series by George McVey then I highly recommend reading them first. There are a lot of spoilers revealed in this book that may spoil the plots of the other books for you.
The characters in this book are well developed and very likable. Reading this series has been fun and places Gods word to help the primary characters to work through an issue. This is a great read
This book is just as good as the earlier books in the series. Now I will have to wait for the next book, Redeeming Time to become available. The preview of the next book has already hooked me.
