Hunky alpha military males in two stories: a dom/sub story and a suspense story about a killer stalking two women.
3 stars for FULL RIDE.
Story Brief:
Gray has an American Indian heritage. His culture talks of Dream Walking, interacting with another in their dreams. For two years he and Prin experience dreams together even though they have never met. Dave is a friend to both of them and sets them up on a blind date of sorts, for one night together. Gray is a dominant and Prin wants to experience one night as a submissive. When they first see each other that night, they each realize they have been dreaming of each other.
Reviewer’s Opinion:
If you’re in the mood for a dominant alpha male who is so in love with a woman he can’t bear to be apart from her (he carries her around the house, dresses her, feeds her, loves her and cherishes her), you’ll like this. The other side of the coin is in the bedroom: total domination by him and submission by her. The bedroom scenes were a little too humiliating for my taste, but not all stories need to be to my taste. There is a lot of rear door activity. The plot was simple. All the characters are good, loving people. There is a feel good ending. I liked it, but I can’t say I really liked it, which is my definition for 4 stars. Nothing was wrong with it; I just wanted to be surprised or delighted more in order to give it more stars.

Kat is Tiffany’s best friend. Kat has been in love with Tiffany’s older brother Rem for 3 years, but never showed it. Rem has also been attracted to Kat during that time but never showed it. Rem overhears Kat talking about wanting to have sex with someone. He decides to take a chance and start a relationship with her. It doesn’t go well due to inaccurate assumptions on Kat’s part. A bad guy wants to kill Kat and Tiffany for different reasons. Rem and his military buddies discover the threat and take Kat and Tiffany into hiding. Rem takes Kat to his home on an island for awhile. This gives them a chance to begin a relationship.
Reviewer’s Opinion:
I did not like the first interaction between Rem and Kat. She had wanted him for 3 years. Finally he shows interest, and she is furious at him. She assumes he’s doing it for the wrong reason, she twists his words around, she stomps off and lets him think that she hates him. After that the story was good for romance and suspense. I didn’t want to put it down because I wanted to know what would happen. This is another one of those dominant alpha males, special forces military, wealthy, who cherishes and loves only one woman. He carries her around, cooks for her, feeds her and obsessively loves her. Rem and Kat are almost always touching each other, whether in a group or alone. It’s a little over the top with the way Rem exaggerates in his thinking “I’ll make him pay” or “I’ll kill him” when he thinks about someone hurting Kat. The bad guy was smart. He did a couple of things that surprised me. I was bothered by the following. Rem was to kill a bad guy near the end, but the author never showed any details of this. Kat says take care of this person before you see me. The next scene is Rem seeing her. I assume he killed the bad guy. There is a torture scene with rear door activity which may be unsettling for some.

The first story was BDSM and a little beyond my comfort level - although both the hero and heroine show up in the second story and it is obvious things have settled down so that all are happy. The second story was action driven and does include the heroine's abuse by bad guys. It revolves around one of the unit members introduced in the first story. Overall a good read, but not a keeper.

Improbable stories based on a retired military special operations unit who each is apparently going to find his true mate. Gray is the first and it starts well enough, if a bit silly. A widow has dreams of a dark Dom and it has been disturbing her sleep for a long time. A solution suggested by a friend is to spend one night with an anonymous Dom to hopefully exorcise the dreams. Prin agrees, but the Dom (Gray) has been having dreams as well. When they meet, he knows this is the woman for him, but he is tied to an ironclad contract. The scenario of this story is intriguing but the writing is too wordy when it needs to be concise and too spare when more is needed. Characters don't act believably. Second story is more of the same, but now involving Rem, another member of the team. Too bad. Good storyline. Mediocre writing.

Re-read Slip Knot. C- This used to be a comfort read but it just feels plain stupid now. I like Gail Faulkner's heroes, they might not be very realistic, but they are wonderfully alpha and dominant. In Slip Knot the conflict between the hero and heroine seemed kind of construed and silly, and instead of there being tons of lovely sex scenes, there was too much bickering and bossing.
Still like the first part of the series, Full Ride, which is quite a heavy D/s romance. I reread it last year and graded it a B+.

I really enjoyed both of these stories. Just the right amount of alpha in the heros.
