Maryna Gaidar is a Canadian writer of Ukrainian origin and the author of the mystery series Cassandra’s Shadows. In 2017, she won her first publication in the competition Twisted 50. She has also been published in a compilation of short Christmas stories in Ukraine.
The genres that Maryna gravitates towards are period mystery novels, fantasy and sci-fi. Her most favoured authors are Remarque, Austen, Dyachenko and Nesbo. She enjoys coffee and loves cats.
The best way to acquire new experience and inspiration, in her opinion, is travelling. In fact, her series of mystery novels Cassandra’s Shadows was inspired by her visit to Highgate Cemetery in London, UK.
One of her dreams is to go on a trip around the world.
Following the blood drenched trail of a boogyman, through the swampy grey valleys of England, we meet the hero with a gun loaded cane, Cassandra! The character that has the chance to embrace many more hearts as every new story sends crawls to our pensive minds making us more perceptive! I see this character as a perfect pick for a new TV series, I'll be damned! You are going to start hearing scratches and voices at all those tiny hidden places yet undiscovered by you in your house. Cause the story definitely makes you feel as you relate to so many vibes in here. This story is as sickening as it is multilayered and sophisticated, laced with sophisticated dialogues and atmospheric characters. The visuals that ooze through the lines leave the reader no chance to stay detached. It is an ultimate immersion.
I love playing games with my mind, predicting and anticipating, trying to read a murderer way before the other characters in the story find clues. This time it was so unexpected! The author had me give in! Much to my surprise, the murderer has another face, the treacherous, least obvious, blatantly oblivious, regretless. By committing to this story you're buying a ticket into a mind-blowing adventure that is bound to leave a lasting impression and make you cry for more. Just enjoy, guys:)
