3.5 Stars
There are long stretches of detailed experiments that could have been summarised into a few paragraphs, but once skimmed, there was plenty to enjoy in this episode.
The antagonists certainly upped their game by the end of the book, requiring herculean efforts to stay ahead on the part of our reluctant team of heroes.
Admittedly the whole book boils down to a training montage – training that is mostly preparation for the conflict to come, which was made very clear when it ended on a cliffhanger. As frustrating as that is, I'm very much looking forward to the next episode.

A team-up is happening! Protagonist finally makes a genuine attempt to engage with his allies. Training montage happens, yet again. Story focuses on a sandbox aspect, sort of world building simulator. What even is canon in the reality of the 'The Jester of Apocalypse' anymore?
Once again, like in book 1, most of the book is spent in Hell Realm. Mind I remind readers, which isn't the reality of the literary universe but a quasi-dimension that has thus-far had no impact on the reality. Which makes the whole story an exercise in futility.
Conclusion: 1/5. Listened on Audible bought for 1 credit. Narrated by: J.S. Arquin. Dipping story's toes in the multi-dimension is fine, i.e. initially being trapped in it. But when it becomes the core plot progression device for the story, does anything even matters anymore? Books in the series might be worth reading if they covered a complete event arc, e.g. 'The Wandering Inn' by pirateaba. As is, the three book in the series are offer different training arcs, but training arcs nonetheless. Bad value for the length of the book - 1.57 $/hour ( 24.38 $ / 15 hrs 32 mins ).

Bad: 1 - 1.66 $/hour
Good: <1 $/hour
Dream: 0.4 - 0.27 $/hour

Rough start, good ending
This latest installment had a focus problem for me. The first third of the book focuses on the suffering of the companions to the detriment of my ability to enjoy the story. This did make the turn around nicer, but I can't help but feel that the same turn around could have been achieved while having more of the focus on Neave's progression or success. Having little to no character growth in the first third of the book made it hard for me to get to the payoff. I still liked the book, but almost dropped it several times.

Great story. Echoes of the first book but with more stability and maturity for the main characters. A very long training/power-up narrative, but with more balanced interludes of fighting and reasonable challenges. A solid addition and a good set up for the next arc

I think I fell out of love with this series at about the same pace that the author did. There's an interesting world with interesting characters here, but ultimately the series continues to feel like a drawn-out lead-up to something that never arrives, and never will until Robert decides to rewrite the series as has said he will.

don’t read if you need closure
A very good series that is discontinued, leaving me wanting an ending of some sort. But it leaves on a cliff hanger and really just makes me feel rather irritable and wanting to lash out at the author for leaving me hanging. Not cool Blaise, I’m reluctant to read any of your others for fear that I’ll be dragged along and then left

Awesome as hell
This was bloody fantastic. It's been a long while since I liked an MC, so freaking much. Neave IS a BEAST. I thought this would be a training arc but it was so much more than that. I am truly looking forward to the next book.

Great story
Really love the entire story so far, i have listened to both the first 2 books on audible 3 times each whilst at work. Thankyou for getting me through my work day and when this book hits audible i will be buying it there too.

There’s so much that I want to like about this book, but ultimately I found it a slog. I found the nightmare realm to be tedious and boring. Nothing really happens, but it takes a lot of words to say that. Hopefully the next few books don’t feature it.

Readable
The third book in this series. A slow and boring book compared to the first 2,the writer put too much infamous on explaining everything instead of actual story.

Good series
This book is almost completely written as training. Boring for me but I know some people like it. Hoping book four is better.

Fantastic
Absolutely outstanding. Pacing and everything was amazing. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I hope and look forward to a 4th book.

It was an okay experience but I was expecting more from this author but overall I enjoyed Neave's journey into madness....!!

Its the weakest one yet of the series i rly hope it recovers because book 1 was a banger its still good tho
