#1 New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery writes heartwarming and humorous novels about the relationships that define women's lives—family, friendship, romance. She's best known for putting nuanced characters into emotionally complex, real-life situations with twists that surprise readers to laughter. Because Susan is passionate about animal welfare, pets play a big role in her books. Beloved by millions of readers worldwide, her books have been translated into 28 languages.
Critics have dubbed Mallery "the new queen of romantic fiction." (Walmart) Booklist says, "Romance novels don't get much better than Mallery's expert blend of emotional nuance, humor, and superb storytelling," and RT Book Reviews puts her "in a class by herself!" It's no wonder that her books have spent more than 200 weeks on the USA Today bestsellers list.
Although Susan majored in Accounting, she never worked as an accountant because she was published straight out of college with two books the same month. Sixteen prolific years and seventy-four books later, she hit the New York Times bestsellers list for the first time with Accidentally Yours in 2008. She made many appearances in the Top 10 before (finally) hitting #1 in 2015 with Thrill Me, the twentieth book in her most popular series, the Fool's Gold romances, and the fourth of five books released that year.
Susan lives in Washington state with her husband, two ragdoll cats, and a small poodle with delusions of grandeur. Her heart for animals has led Susan to become an active supporter of the Seattle Humane Society. Visit Susan online at www.SusanMallery.com.
I liked this book very much. But its just a portion of the story. There are 3 parts (3 books). The first book was good enough for me to go ahead and buy the other two. I may give a higher rating by the time I finish book 3. This first book is well written and has been fun to read.
However, I cannot give it a 5 star until I finish the whole story. I prefer to have the story completed in just one book. I prefer a complete story in just one book. I don't mind a new story where the characters from the first book are part of the new story. However like I said this first portion of the story is good enough it I bought the other two books because I want to know how the story ends.
I like Susan Mallery, so I'm enjoying this book. Sappy romances are what I read in between "meaty" books...so this fits the bill. Part 1 was free and just loaded 2 & 3 from the library onto my Kindle. Not sure what 36 hours has to do with this book...but, as I said..I like Susan's books. For the record...if I can't get all books in a series...I wait to read them when they become available. Sometimes characters get lost after awhile..so I just wait!!
Although it felt like one half of a short story and I'm not sure why it was released in two parts, the story and characters are appealing and I am expecting the second half to live up to the first, so I will optimistically rate it at four stars since it is so much better than the ranch stories I have been reading. It makes you want to go live on a ranch, even in West Texas. Ranch life sounds like hard work but much simpler than dealing with traffic jams and city problems.
Wow I am so glad this showed up as recommendation. I never heard of this book. I instantly got hooked from the beginning. I enjoyed how this storyline is full of Suspense and mystery. This is definitely A MUST READ.
Very interesting reading. I don't like books that are continued. I want a book that finishes in itself. Why do authors do this? Of course, I know why. To sell their books. I would rather pay for the book and have it finish in itself.
I am only giving low rating because I didn’t realize the book wouldn’t have an ending. I have to now read part 2. It is a good story. Interesting characters.
Very good story but I am not a big fan of not being able to finishing whole story in one book. I love this author so, I guess I will have to get part two and three.
What a great beginning to the story. She is suppose to get married and realizes she doesn't love or even !like her fiancé. She decides to run but in the process she over hears about a plot for murder.
I hate to admit it but I really liked this story, just not liking that it is only part 1. It starts out with Randi running out of her wedding minutes before she is suppose to walk down the isle. Just before she runs out of the church, she hides in a small room and overhears two men talking. They pull a gun on her but she gets away. So Randi is on the run wanting to get away from her wedding but also from the men who want to kill her. She moves from town to town, taking whatever job she can find and ending up getting a job on a large ranch where she was hired by the ranch owner, Brady, as a groom. I liked Randi because she was standing up for herself and she found out she was stronger than she thought. Brady was very kind - too kind usually - and always took in strays - both human and animal strays.
Even though I liked it and love Ms. Mallery's books, my star rating kept going down as I read this book and thought about
it after. I don't like it being in 3 parts. I would rather have it all in one book and pay the total price all at once. I am going to stay clear of stories like this from now on.
I did not pay attention properly to where its written PART 1 - so it's on me that I was put off by how quickly the story was going, how much the writer had to explain to me for it to progress so, and how abruptly it ended. Storyes broken down to parts (not sequels, trilogies or series, but those Part 1/ part 2 books) are a particular pet peeve of mine. For this reason I was frustrated. Susan Mallery is one of my favorite romance writers and remains so. I'll just read the label more carefully from now on and avoid the "part" books...
This short clip was good but too short. If I'm going to pay for book I want it to be worth the price. p Probably won't buy anymore even though I like this author.
It's a serial so this is incomplete, but I've already bought all 3 parts so I can keep on. Good story so far. I am not a fan of serials, but I love Susan Mallery and getting all 3 parts for $4 is worth it.
For a book that is very short, I was shocked how hooked I got! WOW! Make sure you have all three books before you read this because it ends in such a cliffhanger.
Adorable quick read, part of a series that does not need to be read in order except from that particular author. Relatively few referrals to past stories. I never found myself wondering what the author was referring to or talking about. Susan Mallery's contribution is the Rancher and the Runaway Bride Parts 1,2,3. The three I have read. I love all work by Susan Mallery and these were no different. The series is a group of authors that take a small town, several characters and each write a story that connects to the blackout from a storm. Loved the idea and now going back to start at the beginning although totally unnecessary.
