Book 2 continues the Miles & Kieran series, written from a dual POV.

Author’s note: This story is a slow-burn romance that spans several books. You must read Book 1 and the Christmas novella before reading this book.

When I got to the last line of the book, I could only say.....NOOOOOOOO.

Miles and Kieran have such a rocky relationship. Not understanding the true dept of each other's feelings leave you torn. After facing a serial killer, Miles and Kieran find themselves in the middle of more danger as the work with the FBI.

This is a good story as Miles and Kieran navigate misunderstanding, evil and their hearts.

This one was really destroying me with the way Miles and Kieran are both so deeply in love with one another, but they keep misreading one another and thinking the other could never feel the same way. Miles always wanting to help everyone else is so great, and I love him and his sweet heart so dang much. Kieran always wanting to protect Miles, but also always letting him choose what he wants to do was so great. I died over him knowing immediately there was something off about the lizard game, and how he went and helped Miles the moment he realized what was going on. This book was a little hard to read knowing that there are real men in Hollywood who treat people like this, and I wish we could take them down in real life.

That ending completely killed me and knowing it's going to be over a year before these two see each other again is going to kill me for the last book. I love them so much and I need them to finally tell each other how they feel. It's killing me to watch them continuously misunderstand each other.

Mmm. This sorta felt like pulling your teeth.

Will I still read the next instalment? Probably.

Am I annoyed there's not even an HFN in these books? Yes, yes I am.

3.5/5 ⭐️
It was definitely better than the first one but I felt like the plot was pretty predictable . Like it was clear that once Kieran saw the Lizard Masks that they will have to do with the endgame. And also I didn’t trust Phoenix for a second. He was so brainwashed that it’s actually insane. I mean yeah given the circumstances I would’ve felt bad for him but I think that with the amount of things Phoenix has seen or probably done, he’s much happier dead. I’m sorry if that sounds harsh.
But also not including the producer into the mission is also kind of ridiculous. I mean at least Ovelia or how her name was, should’ve known that Miles is solely there because he’s undercover. Just that. So that she wouldn’t have been so annoyed about his lack of acting skills. Also.. communication exists. I feel like for the first book and the novella it was fair that we didn’t know that Kieran was interested in Miles that way since we didn’t get his Point of View. But.. WHY DIDNT HE JUST SPEAK UP?!
Like the amount of miscommunication and misreading the others reactions or body language is actually insane. Both of them like one another for literal YEARS and yet they never realized?? I mean I would’ve been suspicious with all the private kissing and stuff. But apparently Miles has his head set on that he’s not worthy of Kieran’s love because he’s not as famous and rich. And obviously Kieran isn’t gay 🥸🥸
I really hope the third book is gonna be better and they finally get their act together and TALK. T. A. L. K. It’s not that hard.

But yeah overall it’s a fun quick read and a pretty good palette cleanser!! There is one spicy scene and I do feel like it’s kind of unnecessary.. but probably important because otherwise Kieran wouldn’t have left and the end wouldn’t have been like that. Okay never mind maybe the spicy scene was necessary.

Have a nice day :)

Our Mystery Island Affair is the second book of the Miles & Kieran series by Gaia Tate. This is an MM romance that combines thriller/suspense and crime drama. I wouldn't read the books in this series as standalones, you definitely need to read books 1 and 1.5 to get to know Miles and Kieran from the beginning. There is also a massive cliff hanger that had my heart sad and I wanted to hug our boys.

In this book we pick with Miles and Kieran where they left off at My Fake Christmas Boyfriend. After their adventures in My Ex's New Boyfriend Murderer (book 1), the Christmas novella was a palette cleanser. And now we're back into the thick of things. I won't go into too much about the plot, because I don't want to rehash the blurb, and I don't want to spoil things for those that want to go back to the beginning.

I love Kieran and Miles so much, and despite the unbelievable things that happen to them, they are strangely relatable and totally lovable. I am invested in them getting together forever. This cliff hanger left me bereft and I need book three!.

Here we are again with Miles and Kieran, they are still a work in progress and have not quite figured out who they are to one another. They truly need to speak up as it would help them as they deal with the other aspect of this series/their story - that is keeping the story going. I am going to be light on details to not provide spoilers but I will say that these guys need to learn to communicate with one another and to make sure that the object of their interest - each other - is aware that he is the object of their interest. Another cliff-hanger but I am thinking we are getting close to some resolution. Next book please.

This is the second full installation in the Miles & Kieran series. The slow-burn romance meets thriller/mystery genre of the series is fascinating for me although at times both the romance and the mystery/thriller parts are somewhat lacking. That said, I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series.

For one, I love Miles and Kieran, and this time, we get Kieran's perspective, which I enjoyed except for the pining levels! Why is Kieran so averse to coming clean to Miles till the very fucking end?!?!?

The mystery/thriller plot was not too bad, but the lizard game was a bit of a cliche.

Overall, I like the story idea, the characters and their backstory, and the plot's pacing. It would all have been even better with more detailing, communication between the MLs, believability, and exploration of why the characters behave the way they do. I feel this way about some of the other works by this author. Even so, I love that the author combines romance with intrigue in a pretty fun way.

Repetitively Horrible

This book and author remind me of that lazy student in English class that cared more about how many words were required in the essay over the content it contained. EVERY CHAPTER OF THIS BOOK STATES MULTIPLE TIMES OVER AND OVER THE SAME TOPIC THAT THE AUTHOR HAS DRAGGED OUT FOR NOW THREE COMPLETE BOOKS! Thank god these books were free because they aren't worth 2 cents to purchase.

I have nothing. I don't know how to get my brain around this. I love how we know Kieran thoughts/feelings as well as Miles in this book. I was riddled with anxiety throughout the entire book. Book anxiety is the only good anxiety so it's fine. It did end in a cliff hanger so I have to wait for the next book. That last chapter SLAYED me.
