I can’t go through with this!
Lux Cooper couldn’t go through with marrying Mario Blevins and becoming a part of his snobbish family just two weeks before Christmas. He was okay, but their families push them together for some kind of alignment of fortunes or whatever. As she walked up the aisle, her mind raced, searching for an escape route. Lux locked eyes with Hudson Falk at the back of the chapel, her best friend. In that instant, he extended his hand to her. Without a second thought, Lux turned and ran to him, amidst shocked gasps and her father's angry voice. Little did she know, taking Hudson's hand would lead to more than she could have ever anticipated, making for a Christmas people could only dream of.

Hudson Falk had fallen for Lux Cooper, from the moment they met. Playing the role of her best friend had been a challenge, especially when she announced her engagement due to her father’s goals. Hudson didn't fit into their refined, wealthy social circles, but they would be in awe of his secret – he was the son of a Norse winter god in a human world. Those secrets were never meant to be revealed, until now, and only to Lux. Taking her hand and fleeing from the chapel with her presented him with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Their impromptu escape led to unexpected

"Let's run away to Norway?" – "Yes."
"Let's get drunk and get married?" – "Okay, neither of them had anticipated that."
"I'm actually a Norse god, and I do mystical things." – Lux looked skeptical until he showed her his true life.

Now that Hudson had Lux, he had no intention of letting her go. After all, he was a Viking, and love was their expertise. Beneath the enchanting Northern Lights for Christmas, in a glass igloo, nestled in the snow. Hudson would show Lux how his kisses could warm her, how his love held no expectations, except enduring beyond a lifetime and only for her.

I tried...

But I couldn't even finish this book. It just was not my cup of tea. Aside from the idea of a Norse god being ridiculous, the book was entirely too vulgar. It seems whenever I purchase a novel that has a bwwm romance, it turns out to be nothing but smut? And these novels are written by Black women! It's very disturbing that black women write these stories depicting black women in such a shallow and stereotypical manner. There's never any depth or complexity to the relationships, just raunchy sex. Can I get my money back?

Lux was the fire that can melt this winter god from the inside

This was why he would never give her up. Hudson Falk helped her escape an arranged marriage to benefit her selfish father's business and social status. He'd forced all of his children into unhappy arranged marriages. But she would not be the one. There was a man she'd loved already and he was her best friend. Unbeknownst to her, Hudson felt the same way, but he did not want to scare her away. He had to play his cards carefully and her so-called wedding gave him a way. He rescued her just in the nick of time, but he could not reveal his true self until she was completely his.

Not even magic cast by a spurned selfish, and jealous betrothed woman could destroy the love they felt for each other. Even when the memory was gone, the love was there. It gave them both the opportunity to create new memories.

I loved this Norse fairytale story of unbroken love. Hudson aka Isarr had a deep abiding love for Lux. I love how he stood up to her father and Odin for her love. He'd rather live in banishment than to live without her. Lux was willing to fight for her "big-headed" winter god. I felt their chemistry, it was sweet and tender.

FAVORITE QUOTE “Minka, you may think you’ve won, but you gave me an opening.” “An opening to what?” she said slowly.
“To build with my wife anew.” Hudson smiled. “I still love her, and you can erase memories, but not love. We will create new memories from the very beginning. I will wake her to tell her I love her every morning, and I will tell of how we met.”

Dahlia Rose’s Run, Run, Runaway really surprised me. I usually read blurbs before reading books but for some reason I only read this first bit of this one. I went into the book expecting a contemporary rom com about a runaway bride. This book was definitely much more. MC Lux was raised in a wealthy family controlled with an iron fist by a father who only cares about money. When he arranges her marriage to someone she does not love it is the last straw for Lux. Her best friend Hudson offers to whisk her away to his home in Norway. That’s when the book veers into new territory. I love Hudson and how much he cared for Lux. Their chemistry was off the charts and the book is very spicy with long descriptive sex scenes. I recommend this book to anyone who likes spicy paranormal romance.

I listened to the audiobook. It is the first time I have listened to A.I. narration. It wasn’t horrible but wasn’t great either. There was no differentiation between the voices, just a pleasant voice reading you a story. The voice had an English accent which was an odd choice for a book featuring an African American woman from the US and a Norse god. I suggest listening to a sample before deciding on the audio version.

Magnificent

This is a book that you really want to read.WOW! It's full of magic and romance. I really enjoyed these characters they are so amazing and great together. When you add in the drama along with tons of emotions plus some intriguing twists and turns then you have a story that's full of feelings and so captivating. This is great it has humor and suspense. The couple has ran away from her family but they are in love with each other. Their relationship is loads of romance and heartache but it all works for them. I must say this is truly a fantastic story and I'm happy that I read it. You will enjoy, this story because it has awesome characters with great chemistry. It's such a exciting and thrilling romance! They will bring a smile to your face with their relationship which is such a delight and great to read which is such a pleasurable experience. Even the secondary characters are great. There is one thing I wish for and that is for more because I hate for a awesome story to end. But overall this is well worth it.

Wow

I really loved this, i love how their adventure starts right away instead of spending too much time with lux being mistreated by her family. This was so good. It has everything, the supernatural & its lore, romance, humor & great love scenes. I love that lux wasn't the predictable spoiled rich girl. She was smart, independent & capable. I was also refreshing to read a interracial romance where the black heroine isn't described as unattractive. It's crazy how rare that is, also lux had personality & wasn't just a perpetual victim, another trope bw authors overuse for their heroines. I loved Hudson & his whole world. I was pleasantly surprised how much fun this story was, I didn't cringe one time. Lux wasn't desperate, needy, or pathetic. She was fun, funny & had gumption. Please write more of these types of romances.

I love this book!

This book was funny and yes it had some family drama but it was touching because to good friends found love together and went through slot to be together. I was sad that her father didn't care about het but Lux 's husband family is more than enough for her father not loving her . I hope there be another visit of these two in next Christmas book Mrs.Dahl is Rose write for the holidays. I hope all remember this is a story don't over think it, this story was heartfelt for the holidays. As always happy reading😊

This story starts off at what you would think is the end

We find Lux and her dear friend Hudson running away from the alter of a sham marriage. These two have been in love but to afraid to confess. We follow them to his home where he has LOTS to tell. It is mainly light with some deep thought of what love marriage and family really means. I’m glad I’ve found my way back to Dahlia and will check out what I have missed.

Couldn't connect with this story

I picked up this book, because I thought the blurb was cute. The story was cute, but I was ready for this book to be done 60% of the way through. I'm not sure why. The rest of the story was good but not necessary. It did everything a story of this type should do, but it didn't resonate with me. Since my dislike is a personal thing, I rated based on what I would normally rate a story of this type.

Cute, but it was a bit more fantastical than I thought it would be. But that element of magic was a fun addition. It was sweet how much Hudson really loved her.

Nothing too terrible but since I gave up its one star. This is due to the complete lack of character building. Way too far into the book for there to be 0 understanding of these 2
