Me gusta que comienza a acomplejarse la historia pero sigue siendo algo "plana" y sin mucho sentido.

Shinobi Life is a revisit for me because this book had the misfortune to come out during the time that Tokyo Pop went under. So, while chapters were still released in Japan, the translated volumes just stopped in North America. I was one of many fans that had to resort to fan translations which of course can be inconsistent. Long story short I’m glad this story found its way to another publisher so I can finish off reading this narrative.

Volume 6 finds Beni still stuck in the past with a younger Kagetora while his older self tirelessly travels to different time periods to try to find her. The chemistry between the leads is definitely still incredibly palpable and Beni’s predicament allows her to cohabit with a Kagetora that’s freer in emotion and restraint.

Binge read the whole series in half a day and I loved it so, so much! I always love stories that have time travel just because they're that much more complicated so they take that much more effort and planning from the author(s).

The samurai feel made me think of Itsuwaribito, which I also enjoyed!

I loved the romance between Kagetora and Beni! At first I thought it was too much of instant romance, but later as I kept realizing more and more about their story and being connected over a large span of time--everything made sense and they are seriously a beautiful couple, fated to be together!

Loved this manga series!

(I also loved the young Kagetora! He was so cute!)

The dynamics of shinobi life are revealed to be more violent than idyllic in this volume. More characters are introduced. It is a shame that this is the last volume that I can purchase. Thanks so much Tokyopop!

I didn’t think I would like Beni and Kagetora being separated but these last two volumes have been the best ones. I just love her bonding with young Kagetora. It’s very sweet seeing him experiencing first love. I don’t know if this will cause problems later but for now, I will enjoy it.

It isn't Kagetora's wish that they jump back into time, he is totally against it, but when Beni jumps from the building into the hole that will do just that, what else can he do but follow her? He has sworn to protect her with everything he is. Unfortunately, as they are not holding hands at the time, they do not emerge in the same time as one another. Oops!

Beni finds herself in a time slightly before where she meant to be, where she finds herself face to face with a 14 year old Kagetora! She recognizes him, of course, but he doesn't know her, and she dare not tell him who she is. But she listens to him talk of his loneliness, and tries to be there for him. Technically, she is being held a prisoner in the village, but she is not tied up any more. It is odd for her to see Kagetora and Hitaki so young, before their rift. Makes her wonder what happened between them to cause it. Beni wants to reach out to Kagetora, but she doesn't know how to do it without freaking him out. She manages to make a connection with him by talking about her own less than pleasant childhood, things that they have in common.

Renkaku goes to see Enji to get some clothes for Beni. Enji isn't thrilled about Beni being there, which Renkaku puts down to jealousy. Enji hints of a doppelganger for Renkaku, someone she saw in a town 7 leagues away. She speculates about a traitor being in their midst - and gets more than she bargained for. Meanwhile, Beni has learned to light a fire the old fashioned way! She's very proud of herself until Kagetora shows her the ember that is always kept burning in the brazier, and she is a little miffed he didn't mention it sooner - like before she wasted her time! But she puts it to good use anyway, in a lantern. Walking about the town with her lantern, she almost runs into Renkaku, who is afraid she saw his bad eye. She reassures him that something like that doesn't matter. He doesn't remember how it happened, and she tells him that probably saves him the memory of the pain as well, trying to put a good spin on things.

When Kagetora and Beni talk to Enji, she has no memory of Renkaku being there, or borrowing clothes for Beni. She tells them that Hachikuma has hinted that Renkaku might be the traitor in their midst, which Kagetora flatly refuses to believe. Renkaku can tell when people are lying, but no one can tell about him, which is something to be considered.

The other Kagetora, realizing he must be in a time where Beni isn't, returns to Beni's present, he is in the wrong one, going back to when he first met her. And he recalls that even though when he first met Beni-sama, he thought how much she looked like Beni-hime, he remembers that when he first met Beni-hime, he thought she looked like someone too, but who? Whenever he tries to remember that, he gets dizzy. All he knows is that he has to try again.

Chapters 25-29.

This has gone to a very fascinating place! We are sunk deep in Hitaki's past and its close to killing Kagetora and Beni! I loves the inclusion of the bad eye with Renkaku's background and how he worries about other's reactions, it makes so much sense why he's a ladies man!

I love the contrast between Kagetora's actions and Iwatsura's- you go, have courage!

BOTTOM LINE: Highly anticipating the next volumes!

The story is getting even more interesting with a twist here and there. While in the past, Beni learns more about the young Kagetora, while the Kagetora that she knows is searching for her. Meanwhile there been some killings and Rengaku is the main suspect. Near the end, it got sad, especially with Hitaku.

This series is getting much more interesting with all the time travel stuff happening. Can't we put some of the other dudes on the cover though? I'm kinda sick of all the mushy Beni/Kagetora poses...is it just me?

Finally, I got around to finishing this series after nearly two years of not enough free time and so many others to read!! I love this story line and it is constantly filled with one plot twist after another!! Kagetora is also just too cute not to love!
