King of Hearts

Rate this book
Callie Jensen, now King, and her men are back to continue their adventures from the original six book Cardinal series.
Follow their journey through the aftermath of Callie's early life, as they adjust to a different kind of normal. Months have passed since we last heard from them, and they’ve fallen into a groove. Their team has adjusted to their new arrangement, the dust has cleared, and they can finally take a breather. Of course, the only problem is Callie’s past isn't quite ready to relinquish its hold on her just yet, so they’re in for an uphill battle.

Can they tackle these challenges together, or will their life split at the seams?

The King Team must handle these threats to their happiness as faces, both new and old, intrude on their lives.

A little about me. I love to read, write, travel, and drink tea. I especially love it when I can do more than one of those at a time. I have too many different series started, but all of them are definitely reverse-harem. It took me years to finish my first book, and now I have started to publish them.

My style leans towards paranormal, mystery, thriller themes when I write and read. If I'm trying to write, and I don't have time to read until I get inspired, I like to listen to music. That'll usually get me out of a block and back to writing!!

I love the Cardinal series so much. Aleks and Brock will always be my favourite. They are my comfort characters.

I wish the reintro had been more a slice of life…

Overall, it was nice visiting with the King team again. The main let down was the adult scene. In reality, the way it was written made it unnecessary to the entire story. There was more anticipation to the lead up than the actual act. The usual intensity of the interactions between Callie and her men were missing and the usual overall intensity of the book did not appear until near the end.

Something is off about the whole dynamics of the group. The scene we were all waiting for fell flat and was not interesting, or exciting. I don't want to count it as the actual continuation of the series but it is what it is.

Oh Mia! You’ve done it again! I devoured this book, just like the whole series before!! I loved catching up with Callie and the guys! It was like coming home to good friends! Read it, you won’t regret it, but make sure you have time cause you’re going to binge it!

love

Oh how I have missed these characters! This was such a great read. Almost like a standalone. There are a few questions that lead to think there will be more but not a scream cliff hanger. I love these characters.

Wonderful return to the Cardinal world.

Absolutely fantastic return to the world of Callie and her men. This was so incredibly tense at times, especially with the traps they face as they hunt an old enemy, my nerves were jangling until the last chapter.
Wonderful!
