Molly Madison #3

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Rate this book
Molly Madison is on the trail of another criminal.

When Molly’s newest dog goes missing in Hillside Park, her Saint Berdoodle—and his amazing nose—help her track the border collie. After locating the dog, Molly literally stumbles across an old leather satchel stuffed with hundred-dollar bills.

Her ex-boyfriend, Detective Miguel Vasquez, turns up to investigate and lets slip that the money could be part of the Schlossberg ransom. While the cops spread out to search the area, Molly reads about the crime, learning a wealthy man’s son was abducted on his way home from school a decade earlier. Though the father gathered the demanded ransom, neither the teen nor his kidnappers were ever found.

When the cops find human bones not far from where Molly discovered the money, Vasquez asks her to bring Noodle back to search a larger swath of the brushy terrain. They find a number of miscellaneous items before the Saint Berdoodle locates a skull.

When a good friend asks her to investigate, Molly dives in, questioning the missing teen’s old friends, teachers, and family. With her loyal dogs as back-up, she digs deeper, uncovering someone desperate enough to kill to keep past crimes buried.

The story is good, but DO NOT listen to it on audible. The first two had a great narrator and then AI was used for this one and it was terrible.

The book was fine but do not get the audio book version. The narration is computer generated which you can imagine created a terrible experience.

⭐️ 3.5 to 4 stars! ⭐️ I enjoyed this third and final book in the Molly Madison series even more than the second installation! It tied together the previous two books and had a great storyline/mystery. I liked that there was a cold case that started off the book and how it led into new murders as well. There were many likable and unlikeable characters, wonderful character development, and a happy ending. Even though Molly has a temper at times, J.D. really helps balance her out, so I liked that dynamic. I also enjoyed Izzy and her relationship with Molly and how despite their common dislike of each other that they worked together. I’m sad to see the series end, but I’m excited to see what the author has in store for the future!

Okay, I still like this series. I'll preface with that. However, this book could have been a touch shorter maybe. There was a lot of repetitive stuff. Also, typos and grammar issues kind of took me out of the story.

Other than that, I still like the characters even though Molly is always quick to irritation. That gets old. I'll read the next one. Hopefully this was a blip. Mystery was fine.

Dog lady is back to solve a long past murder. Good fun and lots of models of how to train your dog.
