DNF @ 6%. No rating.

This one's on me. I only read reviews for the entire series and they praised the realism and grittiness of the series while not mentioning that it's erotica. It turns out - this is 99% erotica and 1% other stuff, which isn't my thing.

It also turns out that Xavier is a whiny, immature, unprofessional man who is too busy lusting after Raheem to bother doing his job. In addition, Xavier has never been attracted to a man before but after seeing Raheem jerking off one time, Xavier is suddenly overcome with lust for the man and he can't think about anything else. Then they're having sex a few pages later. I know, I know - that's the point of erotica.

I was also annoyed that the writing style wasn't very good. Raheem's AAVE dialog was the best part but everything else was amateur. In addition, there were some glaring errors regarding daily prison life (like inmates being on 23 hour lockdown despite living in an open block and inmates being allowed to split rec time between the block and the yard), which ruined my enjoyment.

3.5. Surprisingly well written and edited for urban prison m/m erotica. The newfound attraction to men by the CO is done really well, and Raheem is a sexy ass prisoner, confident in his desirability. Can't wait to see where this goes.

Great twist, saw it coming but was excited non the less. Held my attention from start to finish. Can't wait to read the next book...
