WOW what a Fantastic Story! Sophia Nye's characters come off the pages and pull you into their tale, with secrets from the past, heartfelt banter, heartbreaking past, steamy passion , and a fantastic plot. Prince of Fire is a second chance love story that will keep you turning the pages until the very end. I always enjoy how well the author brings in the other characters from earlier series, it's like revisiting old friends that you haven't seen for a while. It was nice to catch up with them as Dallan and Niamh try to find their happy ever after.

My fellow readers if you love reading a story telling all how the two main characters must be together then this is your book. Readers Niamh and Dallan’s love is impeccably written. The words penetrate your mind and zero’s on your sympathetic and emotional senses. I felt as though I was the one in the middle of the high intensity dealings, that seem to be changing every five seconds. All that I want to do during the whole time is support the bond of true love for two well deserved people.
You will love Niamh’s character. I took her to be strong, intelligent, brave, and caring for all who need a gentle hand. Dallan is a fierce warrior whose loyalty is to his family. He uses his political connections to help the defenseless and poor in his village. He cares more for his people than himself.
I consider him a big soft puppy when it comes to his feelings for Niamh. I love all that transpires in the book. I found it to be a brilliant and beautiful love story. I give this book two snaps and a golden twist. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!

In over 40 years of reading historical fiction and romance, somehow I never picked up a book set in Éire. What a fantastic way for me to begin! In this book we get to explore Dallan and Niamh’s story even as the author brings back some familiar characters. Starting with their initial meeting, the chemistry between the characters is palpable. Quickly paced and beautifully written with witty repartee, I felt as if I was there, watching the story unfold. I kept telling myself I’d stop for the night at the end of the chapter, but one chapter became two became many. Unlike some books, extraneous descriptors and verbiage were not used, thereby allowing for smooth progression of the storyline and a pleasurable read. I highly recommend Prince of Fire, book two of the Warriors of the Fianna trilogy, which may be read as a continuation of the series, or as a standalone book.

This story has everything you could possibly want in a historical romance! As soon as I started reading, I was hooked and had a hard time putting the book down. If you enjoy second chances, passion, danger, intrigue and lots of historical background, this story is it.
Dallan's heart was broken by Niamh over 6 years ago when she rejected his proposal, little knowing the secret she held that made her decide to let him go. Now they find themselves in each other's company again and a tentative friendship develops between them and although both admit the love is still there, there is still the matter of the secret Niamh holds. My heart ached for both of them as they worked through their problems.
I have read many books by Sophia Nye and she never disappoints with her stories. Well written and kept my interest throughout.

So many times in historical romances the HEA includes children for the couple. This book gently addressed infertility. I really appreciated learning how a couple might deal with this issue and treatments available at the time. Also how Niamh spends her time helping other women with the same condition she has. I wanted to give both Niamh and Dallan a hug and I know they will be happy with each other no matter what happens.
Also special guest star to notable pet Morrigan, the mischievous cat.

The second story in the Warriors of the Fianna. What a gorgeous cover! I will be reading this series again once it is completed. Six years ago, Dallan mac Murrough fell in love with Niamh a healer but she rejected him and they have not seen each other until now and he wants answers. This story is well worth reading.

"Prince of Fire" by Sophia Nye is a gripping 11th century or high-middle age romance novel that delivers an action packed, self-discovery, second chance tale which kept me flipping pages as fast as possible.
One of the novel's standout features is its cast of characters who well-developed and very easy to connect with as you follow along their particular journey’s. The Hero of the story, Dallan mac Murrough he is one of the elite Fiann Warriors and he is also presumptive heir to his home Kingdom, Six years ago he fell in love with the perfect girl and he also had his heart crushed by the same perfect girl. Though he was young when he proposed to her, he knew she was the only woman he could ever love. For reasons she never chose to share, she denied his proposal and shattered his heart. When their paths cross years later, anger and bitterness bubble to the surface despite his best efforts at civility. Dallan just doesn’t know his heart is about to be captured again, nor does he know he is going to have everything he holds precious to him possibly ripped away for good. Dallan’s sense of duty and honor to himself, to Niamh, to his family, and to his Kingdom are all placed at risk.
When Niamh first sees Dallan after years apart, her heart melts. He has all the same qualities as the boy she loved, except he is now very clearly a man–a strong, confident man with eyes that make her forget everything but the memory of him; a man with a gaping wound that she knows she made, and a smile so disarming she’d agree to just about anything. Nye's prose is both lyrical and engaging, making for an immersive reading experience that transports readers to another world. The pacing of the story is generally well-executed, with plenty of action and intrigue to keep readers hooked from start to finish. She holds nothing back as she makes Dallan and Niamh face their past, address their fears and secrets, and then literally fight for their second chance.
Triggers
I do have to mention there is potential trigger content including fertility problems and the practice of polygamy to secure heirs.
Why not 5 Stars?
The "Prince of Fire" is undeniably enjoyable, I found certain plot points to be somewhat convoluted with precarious situations and then easily remedied with fanciful solutions. I would have liked more detail and more angst included in the plot. Additionally, there are moments when the pacing lags, particularly in the middle portion of the novel. There also was not a lot of historical content woven through the story which is always something I enjoy.
Overall, "Prince of Fire" is a great story with characters you will quickly grow to love. I also enjoyed “catching up with” previous characters from book one, Song of Fianna, and I am eager for the next stories of this series!

Prince of Fire is the second book in the series Warriors of Fianna by Sophia Nye. It can stand alone without reading the first book, though it may have helped me a little to better understand some small parts of Prince of Fire that play back to the first book. This is a historical romance that follows our two main characters, Niamh and Dallan. About 7 years before the story takes place, Niamh and Dallan were in a loving relationship, until she did not accept his proposal and walked right out of his life. When they find each other again so many years later, it is clear their feelings are still there, but how do they move past the hurt and secrets they’ve been keeping?
Historical romance is always a comfort genre to me. I love feeling transported to a time and place unlike my own, and Prince of Fire was a great read to get me through some tough days. Both Niamh and Dallan were characters I enjoyed, and we get to see both their perspectives told in a third person narrative. It’s a second chance romance that always captures my attention, and I love the slow burn tension between the two that unfolds with every page. It’s a short book, under 300 pages and I would recommend it to any reader that’s looking for a good historical romance with new places and characters to explore.
I’m looking forward to going back and purchasing the first in the series to uncover some things I missed with the side characters and storyline. I would also like to read the next book in the series as I enjoyed Sophia Nye’s writing and storytelling.

Prince of Fire is the second book in the Warriors of the Fianna series, picking up after Song of the Fianna. While it can work as a standalone, I feel it's much more suited as a continuation, as basically all of the universe background takes place in Song of the Fianna. You don't necessarily need that information to enjoy this book, however I feel it adds much more to the plot itself and sets the pace for what is happening around Dallan and Niamh.
I am a sucker for medieval Irish history and this book really did it for me in that aspect. Sophia Nye definitely knows what she's talking about but also manages to tell her story in a way that doesn't at all get bogged down in the depths of it, which makes it an easy and enjoyable read for anyone interested in historical romance.
This was a very nice second chance romance and dealt with the subject of infertility in a historical setting well, which I really enjoyed. Though short, the story was well paced and the plot was solid overall. My issue with the book lies in the extreme amounts of miscommunication and just flat out no communication. I dislike it at the best of times but the extent to which it was present in this was near teeth grinding. While I understand it was necessary for the final dire plot at the very end- which was good!- I did have to put the book down for a day and just walk away.
Even then, I enjoyed the overall plot and characters to still recommend it. Catrin was a gem of a side character and I would be remiss to not mention her. Certainly looking forward to more of this series!

I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. I had started reading with the intention of only reading the first few chapters to see what it would be like (this is the first book by this author I have read) and found that I could not (and did not want to) put it down. It grabbed my attention from page 1 and I couldn't wait to see how everything would play out. I loved both Niamh and Dallan as individual characters and as a couple. They were both strong and loyal in their own ways and worked together so well. How many women would offer to duel a man at least twice her size to save the man she loves? I understood why Niamh felt she had to give up Dallan and why she couldn't initially be honest about her reasons - it would have been harder for her to have him and then lose him when/if he changed his mind about children later on (as she had seen so many other men do their own wives). I was so glad that he was able to put the past behind him keep an open mind in order to really listen to Niamh and give her the opportunity to be honest with him. I found I really enjoyed the side story with Alva - I so wanted to see her husband suffer just little bit for his poor treatment of her, but I guess everything worked out in the end. This really was such a pleasant surprise - I chose to read it because it sounded interesting and it definitely surpassed my expectations.

The author was new to me and it was the first Irish medieval story I have read. I really liked this second chance love story. It is very well written with a touching plot, a good imagery, very likable characters and some steam and suspense.
The way the author approached the topic of infertility was sensitive and open-minded.
I am definitely looking forward to read more of her books!

Five years later, Niamh is the healer or her town and Dallan is part of a soldier group that protects the King. There is a supposed attack on Niamh's town and the soldier group is tasked to protect the town and its people. When they reconnect, they have to determine what went wrong and work out their feelings for each other.
This was a cute little book that I read in one day. The lack of communication really irritated me. Like so many years were wasted because Niamh did not explain why she left. I get that she was worried about his family and his title, but not even making an excuse for him to blame it on? And then in the hallway at the end where she hears two seconds of a conversation and then runs with it and interprets it how she wants? That super duper irritated me. I also did not understand the part at the beginning that said like the rules of being a soldier. I tried reading this book multiple times and I just could not get into it because of the rules. Once I got past them, though, it was fine. I have to say I really did like the whole cat aspect in the beginning and the end because it made it feel like a full circle moment and showed love and forgiveness.

Broken hearts are mended in this powerful novel set in ancient Eire. The customs of the day prevented Niamh from accepting the Fianna warrior's proposal of marriage, especially as she knew that the condition she had inherited was the cause of her own father leaving his family. Forced to fend for themselves, Niamh discovers that she has a special gift as a healer, and with her mother and friend, they lead a quiet but contented life, despite her broken heart. Dallan never understood Niamh's refusal of marriage, but the memory of her leaves him without any interest in another woman. The day that he inadvertently stumbles upon Niamh again, he has to race to her rescue, incurring a wound that Niamh needs to tend to. With the advice of his friends ringing in his ears, Dallan gently woes Niamh, and whilst he makes progress and discovers that the love they had for one another is still as strong, circumstances force them to deal with warring kings and subterfuge. The novel comes to a surprising and exciting conclusion and the lovers eventually get their second chance. I received a copy of this well-written and heartwarming romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This is Book 2 of the series Warriors of the Fianna. This second installment is well-written and well-paced and kept my interest from start to finish. The author did a nice job with descriptions, allowing me to feel as I was seeing and experiencing everything for myself. The story is filled with passion, drama, and intrigue and I had a hard time putting it down once I started. Dallan and Niamh were in love years ago, but when Dallan proposed, Niamh rejected him because of a secret she holds. When they find themselves crossing paths again, they start to grow close again, but even though the love is still there, there is also the matter of the secret that Niamh is holding.
This is a lovely second chance romance with well-developed, likable characters and I enjoyed following their journey. I'm looking forward to reading the next book of the series.

Extraordinary, fantastic story. Book two of the series is equally as awesome as book one. So my first recommendation is to begin this series and don't put it down until the very last book is read. Dallan and Niamh love each other hugely thus the story begins along with my tears, laughter and more. But Niamh refuses his love. Why? Years later circumstances bring them back together and secrets are revealed. Along with that plot, this author has woven Irish history into the the story without the usual wordy descriptions. This fact alone allows the reader to become encompassed into the story without being loaded down with an abundance of words. Outstanding depth of characters, including weaving in those from the first book and new ones too. A powerful, fast moving story, awesome chemistry, history, witty banter and more. I can't recommend this book and series enough!

I didn't read book 1 and wasn't lost, so a standalone. There are secrets, miscommunication and lack of communication that I couldn't get into the story.
It wasn't until 66% that the h finally revealed her secret. The story is not an uplifting one, so if you are looking for something to bring joy to your heart, this may not be it.
In this time period, if a women didn't conceive or have a son, the husband could take another wife. Definitely not a fan of this storyline.
More than one villain, parts of the ending had me confused. Wrong name used once, and the Lord's name used in vain once.
Lovemaking outside of marriage, heat level 3+ out of 5. I can't say the story is romantic because of the secret and withholding of information for so long. I would have liked an epilogue a few years in the future. (ljb)

I don't think I have ever read a book set in Eire. Also, I missed the first book, and can't wait to go back and read it and the next book in the series! The Warrior group Fianna also as me interested.

A pleasant and adventurous read. It is the sequel to "Song of the Fianna" but it can also be read as a book in itself; the action flows easily, habits and customs of a distant time are well represented.
I liked it more than the first novel because I found the action much clearer.
It is interesting to note how the inability to generate a child was blamed exclusively on the woman and the idea that it could also depend on the man did not even cross people's mind...
