Finding This Place: One Woman's Journey Beyond Restriction

Rate this book
In the fascinating memoir, Finding This Place, Marcia Breece shares her lifelong struggle against the tyranny of societal pressures. A child of the fifties and sixties, Marcia was subjected to a common practice she came to call Training to be just a girl—raised to be obedient, self-effacing, and always second fiddle to the men in her life. Although she complied with this status quo for several years, as she matured Marcia found the need and the strength to pursue her true self. Her divorce from an authoritarian husband opened the doors to a remarkably successful career in business. And yet, she continued to search for the right balance of emotional confidence, psychological health, and spiritual awareness. Written with eloquence and charming candor, Finding This Place will resonate with anyone who has yearned to go beyond cultural expectations and discover the person they truly are.

Marcia Breece is an American author, memoirist, and self-publishing consultant who lives near Port Townsend, Washington. Her diverse life experiences, from corporate executive to innkeeper/llama farmer have deeply impacted her writing.
Breece began her professional life as a stay-at-home mother before transitioning into a high-powered corporate career in the telecommunications industry. In the 1990s, she worked internationally in India, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, helping to establish wireless networks for AT&T Wireless and GTE. Despite the excitement of global travel, she eventually felt unfulfilled, prompting a significant lifestyle change.
In 2005, she left her corporate career to purchase a hobby farm on Washington’s Kitsap Peninsula, where she opened a bed and breakfast. In addition to her guests, Breece cared for llamas, ducks, geese, rabbits, sheep, and chickens. While the experience was enriching, it left little time for writing. She later sold the farm and settled into a quieter life on the Olympic Peninsula.
In addition to her writing, Breece runs Publishing Partners, a consulting service that assists authors with self-publishing, including editing, design, and distribution.
Breece currently resides in a rural cottage overlooking Discovery Bay, accompanied by her two Havanese dogs, Dora and Ellie. She finds inspiration in the tranquility of her surroundings, which supports both her writing and her work with fellow authors.
