I’m falling for the broken king. Can I heal him before he breaks my heart?DELPHIEThe alien king is an unlikely ally, but he’s the only one who can help me find my missing friend. With a body that demands attention and a commanding presence, he could be a delicious distraction. But he’s also grumpy, bossy, and impossible to read.
Good thing I don’t have to like him. We don’t need friendship to achieve our mutual find my friend as quickly as possible so I can leave his planet forever.
NIKFrom the moment I met her, I knew she was meant to be mine. Her scent calls to me in a way I can’t resist.
That’s why she needs to stay far away. Because the more I’m around her, the more I want to keep her. And the longer I keep her, the more danger she’s in. From my enemies. From my planet. From me.
I broke a long time ago, and I won’t let the shards of my heart cut her to pieces.
To preserve my sanity and her safety, I'll help her find her friend, and then I'll help her leave...if I can bring myself to watch her walk away.
★•★•★•★•★•★Sparked by Starlight is a full-length, fated-mates sci-fi romance with lots of steam and a guaranteed happily ever after. If you like resourceful human heroines and the arrogant alien kings who adore them, you’ll fall in love with this series.
✨ “Yours. Even out there. In every moment, in every lifetime, I’m yours.” ~~~ Delphie is absolutely incredible! She’s kind, compassionate and understanding. And she’s also fierce, sassy, confident, adventurous and doesn’t hesitate to stand up for herself. I also loved her courage and resilience and her determination to face any challenges thrown her way. Delphie is a truly wonderful woman and I loved her so, so much!
And then, we have Nik - the grumpy and growly king of Usuri. He’s dangerous, deadly and bossy. But Nik is more than meets the eye. Life under his father’s rule has made him appear cold and emotionless. But Nik is anything but that - he’s incredibly honorable, caring, fiercely protective, thoughtful and generous. And I absolutely loved his delicious possessiveness and dominance. Nik is an incredible male and I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Delphie and Nik! The moment he sees her, Nik knows Delphie’s his Alara, but is determined to do everything to keep her at arm’s length in order to protect her. But now, they embark on a mission to rescue Lena - the missing human female. I adored Delphie and Nik together! I loved the tension, the banters, the bickering, the teasing. And, even more, I loved how well they fit together, despite being as different as day and night. I adored every moment of their relationship’s development, how they slowly opened up to each other and finally showed one another how incredible the other person is. I absolutely adored every moment they spent together, even when they couldn’t see eye to eye. And the spice! The spice was off-the-charts hot! Did I mention Nik’s lessons in pleasing a woman? And what an awesome teacher Delphie was? And how eager, dedicated and determined Nik was to be the best in this and to admit when he’s wrong and to better himself as a whole? The passionate moments they shared were blazing hot and I couldn’t get enough! Even more, they were an incredible team and being the rulers of an inhospitable planet comes with quite the challenges. But together, they can deal with anything. Delphie and Nik were so perfect for each other and mode than deserved to find happiness and love together!
In addition, the storyline was incredible! I loved that we got to know more about Fen’s son and he’s such a wonderful male. Even more, so much is happening in the story with the Eye and the discoveries were mindblowing. With the unexpected turns of events and the daring actions of Nik and Delphie, I was glued to the pages till the very end, excited to see how everything will be resolved.
Overall, the story is another remarkable addition to the series! It’s filled with suspense, danger, twists, humor, drama, action, blazing hot passion and spectacular characters.
I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved every single page of it!
Wow. Can I start a review by saying wow? Because wow.
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Miss Sara Ivy Hill has "satisfied me via starlight" once again in a mind-boggling story that tugs on your heartstrings. Our story begins with Delphie joining Nik in the quest to find and locate Lena on his icy heart, oh wait! I meant planet, his icy planet. On a first-impression basis, it looks like this trip will be anything but pleasant. Delphie is a kind, self-sacrificing being who says it how it is, while Nik is an emotionless rock that you would find in your driveway. However, first impressions are not facts. We quickly find out that Nik is a tortured soul who finds guidance in the light of Delphie and is willing to learn whatever he can to be worthy of her, even if it's therapy and lots of lessons!
Hill continues to astound with her mastery of characterization and individuality, going 4 for 4 once again. Her ability to create an entirely new persona with their own strengths, weaknesses, personalities, and backgrounds, expertly meshes with what the MMC needs for character development. I'm left stunned after her new release as we take a chance to focus on mental health and what's needed emotionally for any relationship to work. Such as trust and the EFFORT to better ones' self. However, while this installment feels heavy, it also holds so many light-hearted moments, and I found myself ACTUALLY laughing out loud, especially at the parts where human expressions are communicated, such as how it feels to be an asshole, or what finger swords mean.
While this last installment will have me in deep thought for some time to come, I find that my only frustration with it is... Why and HOW will I survive until the next book?!😭
All in all, an amazing read that I can't wait to re-read when the last installment finally comes out. This is probably my favorite one in the series. If you enjoy a push-and-pull dynamic such as Kyaal and Jaya's story, you will enjoy this one as well.
Wow! What a book! Jara Nik, you have my heart. Delphie is a badass, female lead. I love her view on life, her wisdom, her patience, her devotion, and loyalty. She's a favorite character of mine from this series. Jara Nik is a wounded warrior but with such a soft heart hidden in those bruises and scars. Here's a checklist of what to expect from this book: 💝Grumpy/sunshine 😉Alien king V-card hero 💜Secret fated mates 🤤Sexy, sensual, and savory lessons ☺️only one bed 💝jealous/possessive ❤️🩹enemy-ish to lovers 🤣The nickname theory ⚔️A Thrilling rescue mission!
The humor that's layered in this book makes a perfect balance between the challenges the new fated mates Nik and Delphie are facing. There are so many remarkable words of wisdom I have highlighted throughout the book. Sexy dialogues, fun banter, and especially deep emotional and inspiring quotes. I love how this book touched on some heavy topics and emotions without draining my energy and emotions. It makes the book relatable, memorable and enjoyable. These two are like the smoothest missing pieces of the puzzle that when you find those pieces, it just fits perfectly!
These words are not even enough to express how much I enjoy Nik and Delphie's journey. A part of me healed while reading this book.
Nik knows Delphie is his fated mate granted to him by the goddess but he fights the connection. Fights it because he’s a fighter with enemies, a king who leads an inhospitable planet and male who does not believe he deserves her. His plan is to send her away, make her want to leave and it fails gloriously. Under that hard exterior is a gooey center that only Delphie gets to see. Nik is jealous, territorial and has saved himself for his queen and only wants to be physical with her. Delphie doesn’t immediately know Nik is her mate, she wants to find the other humans and Nik is a means to an end that she doesn’t think likes her. Her goal is to do what needs to be done to find the other humans and then set out on adventure, but things change. There’s growth from both characters and a whole lot of emotion that was great to see, five stars, recommend. I jumped into this series at book five so I’m missing some back story but I didn’t get lost even though this is part of an overarching story arc. While I wouldn’t suggest it, it can be read on it’s own,, though now I’m going back to read what I missed and catch up.
I often think that the saddest approach to loving is believing that keeping the one you love away from you is going to be the best thing for them. You don't know their strengths and also you don't know what might be if you let them in.
Nik is one such soul. His past has shown that he cannot love and keep anything. So he builds his walls high and thick to save both himself and others. Thing is this might work for a while but it won't work for ever. Delphie has seen and experienced much in her life. She is more attune to reading between the lines than most, although she is a little distracted at first as she is determined to find her friend. When she does see the truth of it all then the force of it is rather shocking.
I loved that these two worked at their relationship without even realising it. There was always a good reason behind something happening, even the miscommunication and it wasn't just thrown in to facilitate the plot. These are fantastic characters in a truly mesmerising world. I cannot wait to read more and also go back and read the others in this series again.
I loved everything about this book!! When I got to 50% I was actually a little sad it was already halfway over lol. The characters here are just so dynamic and good! I don’t know what it is about Sara’s writing, but it draws you in like you’re talking to a good friend, it just flows!
The positive mental health bits and character development were *chefs kiss!! He may be a virgin, but he’s willing to be taught, and ngl, the spice was SPICIN! The plot was multifaceted and suspenseful at times. There’s a short misunderstanding but no 3rd act breakup. And I hope this is vague enough not to spoil but I loved LOVED the fact that when they were faced with a really hard problem they 1) talked about it. 2) actually made a plan 🤯. 3) considered various outcomes. 4) trusted each other to do their part, even though it was hard, so that the plan would work 🤯.
The book is a standalone but the series is best read in order (or at least book 1 first). I HIGHLY recommend this book!
This was a great book in a wonderful series and it didn’t disappoint, I enjoyed how the main characters came together with one fighting the bonfire of fated mates and the other not sure about the feelings she has. Delphie is a army brat and a therapist who deals mostly with PTSD patients but now her best friend Ileana is missing and she needs Nik’s help to find her and even though she is attracted to him and he is grumpy she still needs him. Nik is a warrior and has lots of enemies that will kill anybody he gets close to so while he knows that Delphie is his Alara (fated mate) he cannot be with her and so he pushes her away but when all he wants is to make her his Queen and to be with the one he has saved himself for but it to dangerous but so he will help her find her friend and the others so they can leave and she will be safe. How does it all turn out in the end get this book to find out. Im so looking forward to the next book.
Nik has spent so long hiding his true self and his true intentions out of a need to keep from losing everything that he loves, he manages to fool himself. Since the first day he laid eyes on Delphie he knew she was his Alara - which meant he knew he had to let her go.
Delphie’s past as an army brat and therapist has given her a lot of insight into human behavior, especially for those struggling with PTSD, but even she was blindsided by Nik’s true self and feelings.
All the misunderstandings were reasonable and sweet, the way they learned to communicate with one another was breathtaking, and the way Nik trusts Delphie to keep herself alive despite his need to protect was so good. Nik’s lessons with Delphie didn’t hurt, either.
I just love this series, it’s got so much heart, and I cannot wait to read Lyro’s book next!
The story of Nik & Delphie is incredible, entertaining and a very enjoyable read. I enjoyed both characters a lot and loved watching their relationship unfold in a real and touching way despite all they both went through. Delphie is likeable, (I admire her actually), with the skills to work with PTSD sufferer's. It's just, wow. The story is so well written with a sensitivity that shows the author must have researched the subject or have firsthand knowledge. (I have a brother that suffers PTSD from his time serving in the military and I can tell you, she hit the nail on the head.) Which is a reason I really loved the MMC, Nik. It was easy for me to empathize with him because I felt as if I understood him. He is an honorable grump. ;-) Sara is a heck of a fine writer, and her stories just keep getting better and better. I can't wait for the next one.
This is again a different take on the world and the fated mates -angle and I am here for it. I've liked Delphie in the previous books a lot and I was so excited she finally has her own king and her own book. Nik is quite cold in the beginning and he really took some warming up, but like Delphie, I did fall in love with the grumpy king as well.
This book really advances the overall plot of the stories a lot and I am here for it! Especially since Delphie gets to be the badass we all know and love! And her warmth for the warriors and miners really warmed my heart. And the soft moments with Nik were adorable and I love how he opened up to her and began to trust and communicate openly.
With the big twist in the end, it's going to be so curious to see where this will end in Lyro's book. I want to know more of the brother who has gone evil.
Such a satisfying read! I’ve been anxiously awaiting Delphie’s happy ever after for the past couple books in this series. Delphie and Nik have the ultimate grumpy/sunshine dynamic going on. Delphie is determined to find Lena even if it means spending time with the alpha hole Nik on his harsh and unwelcoming planet. Nik lives in constant pain and is determined to keep pushing Delphie away for what he believes is her own good. The healing from trauma storyline in this book had me in all sorts of feels. And the rescue of a particular group was such an exciting plot twist! I can’t wait for the next book where we finally see what’s been going on with Lena and Lyro and I hope we can see some reunions too!
There's not much to say except this was perfect in every way.
My favorite quote "my cock is not confused". No sir. It is not.
I was so invested in this book and I love the dynamic between Delphie and Nik. The language barrier was genuine and I felt added to their relationship. Sometimes I feel language barriers are awkward and not authentic but this really resonated with me. I'm in a biracial relationship where English isn't my partner's first language so I get how Sometimes it's funny and sometimes it causes tension. I felt all that in this couple.
I laughed a lot. It was really fun. The love scenes were fabulous.
This book picks up from the previous installment. We have Delphie joining Nik on his planet in search of Lena. However, not only does Delphie have to deal with the tension between her and Nik but she may have an idea why he’s so cold.
Literally Nik is a sweetheart and so innocent. I love a ML that is a virgin and has been waiting for his mate. Some of the things Nik said made me swoon. He was literally the best brother so far. So respectable. So willing to talk about emotions and trauma. So open to bearing his soul to the one he loves. I did think the big thing relevant to the overarching plot was anticlimactic and (can’t believe I’m saying this) the book could have had 15% cut out. But it was still good as always!
Sara Ivy Hill is one of my favourite authors. This highly entertaining book contains her trademark fabulous world building and character descriptions. It is a page-turner that is easy to read and well written. I love Nik and Delphie; they are so likeable, strong and compassionate, and they have combustible chemistry when they are together. They do not have easy lives, but they help each other with all of life's problems. I enjoyed the action, romance and steamy scenes in the story. I am looking forward to the last book in the series to see how the overall story arc concludes. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I just want to wrap Nik up in such a big huge hug! This book tugged at my heartstrings over and over again. When people talk about not judging a book by its cover and looking below the surface? They are talking about Nik and his frozen planet. I completely understand Delphie’s wanderlust and looking to find the beauty in any situation. She was patient and kind but tough when she needed to be. I loved the twists and turns this story took and how we get to see the brothers working through their differences to come together. The love scenes continue to be steamy and the characters continue to reside in my heart rent free. :)
Story-4/5 the natural progression of the overall series, ties everyone together well while focusing on the main characters. I think out of all the books the MC's had the strongest and most realistic relationship in terms of hardships and flow. I actually really enjoyed to see the two of them come together! My only qualm was how self aware the FMC was in almost every regard except for the most obvious (it was really small but I was really annoyed that she kept leaving her room and getting into bad situations after she explicitly knew she shouldnt)
steam-3/5 its there and well written just nothing crazy and doesnt appear as much

I've really enjoyed this series, but I think this is my favorite one. There was just something about Nik and Delphie that I couldn't stop reading. There was the perfect amount of give and take between Nik and Delphie, mixed with excellent spicy times, action, and a little trickery. I also got a kick out of Nik's "nickname" and how that came about. This is a series and would benefit from starting at the beginning as there are some other characters from the past book in this one along with an overall story arc. I would highly recommend this one for a read!
Delphie and Nik are my new favorite couple! This whole series has a chokehold over me! Delphie travels with Nik to his desolate planet to try and find the remaining human woman that is still missing, Lena. Delphie finds out she was lied to and that things are not all what they seem.
There are spicy “lessons”, past trauma, broken trust, and repaired hearts. Not to mention a Star Wars level epic explosion in space 👀.
This couple goes through the gauntlet with an amazing HEA. Read this series!! I can’t wait for book 6! Enjoy! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book took me by surprise. I wasn’t sure how much I would like it based on the character’s appearances in the previous book. But this book was full of heart. Nik and delphie had really great chemistry and I thought the messages about healing were more profound than I was expecting from an alien romance. But sometimes the best books are the ones that take a different path than you expected. Can’t wait for the next book
I haven't read the other books in this series, and I'm going to remedy that, but I was still able to enjoy this one. There are a few things that would have made more sense if I'd read them in order, though. I loved how much fun this one was. It's adventurous and steamy, and the love story is fantastic. I really enjoyed the characters and the chemistry between them, and their journey towards their HEA was beautifully written.
this was a 3.5 for me and i couldn’t give it a 3 so i settled with a 4
started off as enemies, the MMC was an asshole to her but they later formed a relationship. i felt like the FMC forgave the MMC a little too quickly for some of the things he said after they had formed a relationship
the MMC was a virgin and was saving himself for his alara(soulmate) and was like a very cute himbo at some points in the story

I loved this story so much. The character arcs are so satisfying. Getting to see Nik for more than just an assassin was amazing, and getting to see Delphi grow was equally as wonderful. There is a bunch more in this book about the Irran’s skin pigment and the author uses it as an opportunity to delve into the human experience of emotion. It’s a beautiful story and very worth the read!
Both main characters think more of others than themselves, trying to better lives. Nik has so much control over his emotions that it’s literally affecting his health. Delphine is teaching him to accept his emotions using lessons, lessons he quickly enjoys and wants to keep practicing until he masters them all!
I have been following this series for quite a while and I think this book might just be the best one yet! I love the way both characters develop and change for the better. I also enjoyed how the story covered some real world trauma and human experiences that are 100% relatable. Definitely worth the read! Love this series.

Sara Ivy Hill’s Starlight series is so good! Love Nik the king of a cold, barren planet, and his fated mate human Delphie. They conspire together to bring down The Eye where priests and an evil being are hiding the five mothers of the five kings. There’s lots of action and world building and the characters are well developed. Very spicy scenes!
I loved every minute of reading this book. I genuinely felt a part of the story. I would truly get lost in it! The characters are relatable and likable. I was really invested in their love. I highly recommend this book! If I could give this whole series a billion stars, I would gladly give all the stars I could give.
