This was a big disappointment. It was messy(not the fun kind) and really hard to read. The story didn’t flow well, the characters were unlikable and borderline annoying. The only reason I managed to get through and not DNF was because it was an ARC *sigh*

But thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

I am not even half way through this book and I cannot put it down. The tension, the yearning, the DRAMA. I am so engrossed and I love finding a book that truly captures my attention from beginning to end. The FMC and MMC are complex and go through so much I am so excited to see how this ends!

Former playboy Caleb Black is falling in love with goody two shoes Ariella Mason. When Melissa, a mysterious investor for Caleb and Ariella's company, finds her way back in London to propose a new project she wants Ariella's help. Does Melissa truly want Ariella's help or is she simply playing a large game with Caleb? Will Caleb and Ariella make it to the other side or turn against each other? I truly need to know.

**This is the second book in a series and it follows Ariella and Caleb as they struggle with their new relationship. Caleb’s boss Melissa has definitely affected their romance. I have been rooting for them and hoped their relationship issues would be resolved but I now need to wait until the next book is published. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next one.

Enough

Caleb and Arielle have the most dysfunctional relationship known to man. Putting up with the first 400 and something pages was hard because I got bored and tired of both of their antics. Then to read another 406 pages only to deal with a cliffhanger because the author can't seem to make up her mind and keep coming up with impossible plots and more love triangle. I'm done. This is something that came from the imagination of a 15 year old who still has imaginary friends.

I read this book and didn’t realize it was second in the series until it was over so I was a little confused at the start. That said I really enjoyed it. Good writing makes you feel and I felt so much reading this. It was romantic but not predictable, I really enjoyed the workplace drama and Ari’s sweet parents. I am off to find the first book now!

Thoroughly enjoyed the middle book of this trilogy and can't wait for the final instalment of Ariella and Caleb's journey. Quite a racy romantic novel wrapped in a high business story line. Perhaps greater appeal to a female audience but this male has enjoyed Ola Tundun's first two books. Thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the chance to be an ARC for both books.

This book was AMAZING!!!! I was initially a little confused as I haven’t read the first one (but that’s about to change!) but after a couple of chapters I caught up and I couldn’t put it down!

Ariella and Caleb think everything is plain sailing from now on, both happy in their little bubble, until an unexpected boss turns up.

Enter Melissa.

Melissa is about to turn their worlds upside down in the most unexpected way. With lots of loveable side characters to help them on their way, they try their best to carry on. Will they make it out the other side? I wish I could say yes or no but this book has the biggest cliffhanger ever!!! I’m hoping and praying that the third book is on the way BECAUSE I NEED TO KNOW.

This story was everything I wanted in a book and I’m so glad I discovered this author.

This is the second book in the series and the drama continues but I loved how you still know all along to root for Ariella and Caleb. This takes a deeper dive into their professional lives as well as life while working abroad. Keep reading the rest of the series because it continues to get better after much more drama.

I didn’t know there was a first book that went along with this one when I started reading it so I was a bit lost at the beginning of the book but it didn’t take me long to get to know the characters and their relationship in the story.

After finishing the book, the first line of the book overview “Ariella doesn’t want drama.” make me laugh out loud 😂 because drama is all that Ariella gets! Complicated is an understatement when it comes to the stuff that Caleb and Ariella go through in their relationship and in their work lives. I admit the some of the drama and issues in their relationship was really frustrating to me but over all I really liked the story. Once I got into it I could not put it down. There was so much going on and you never knew how anything was going to turn out. I laughed every time “I just want to be friends” came out of Ariella’s mouth.

It was a fun read and it looks like there is going to be a third book too so after I go back and read the first one I will be ready to devour the third.

I cannot say this enough - this series shouldn't have been two books, but three books is ridiculous. As I imagined, the storyline was crazy - -up and down - with constant break ups and back together as well as pure drama - this matched the first book
but the one thing that I can't deal with is the undoing of what was done - as in we move forward, and one decision or lie undoes the whole book and puts us back at square one to do again

I already didn't love the main characters, and the wrong things were focused on as far as each of their journeys.

I won't be reading book three - I was curious to read this one, but I am not crazy enough to put myself through book three.

This romance needs to end so we can be at peace.

This book is not for me; I was confused, the speed was all over the place, and I spent a lot of time in it saying, " But why did she/he do that?"

This is the second book in a series called Roommates, and it was totally okay to read this book without the first but, after such a good read I’m going to read the first one.

The book has such a mix of emotions through it, the tension and the drama were amazing, and it captured all my attention while I was reading it. It is a romance but it’s not one that you’ll find predictable.

I’m anxiously waiting for the last book in the series because the way the author brings emotions in her story’s is amazing. It was such a good read and I deeply recommend it.

Thank you, NetGalley & the publisher, for approving me to read this arc and write this review.

Thank you Storm Publishing & NetGalley for the ARC of this book. Complicated is the best way to describe it. We follow the main characters through lots of drama and ups and downs in their personal lives and relationships. Though the miscommunication & manipulation between the two main characters got to me, and there were many times when I got frustrated at them both, the author did a great job developing these characters throughout the book, and I enjoyed seeing their growth as individuals and together.

Title: Complicated
Author: Ola Tundun

Spice: 🌶️🌶️

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Format: Ebook

Thoughts:

Happy Pub Day! Complicated is out today and again, another cliffhanger ending and now I’m desperate!!! What a series so far! “Complicated” sucked me in just as much as the first and man, the ride this book takes you on is a complete mind explosion 🤯

We continue to follow Ariella and Caleb as they navigate their relationship as well as their individual growth. This is what I LOVE SO MUCH ABOUT THIS SERIES! It is so REAL. I literally say this every time I tell someone about this book. It is so realistic in a way I haven’t seen in other contemporary romance novels. It is so HUMAN. It showcases growth, bad habits, betrayal, sadness, depression, victories, badass moves. Everything makes sense. Every MOVE makes sense. And the progression to making those choices and the consequences/successes after said choices is so smooth. Nothing in this book is choppy. Nothing made me think “wait, how did we get here?” Or “why did they make such a rash and random decision?”. This book is written so well. I am so so impressed.

I knew this book series would be one of my favorites and embed itself on my soul when Aari (Ariella’s nickname) is with Caleb after a big moment has happened and she watches the tears well up in his eyes and he “quickly pinches the top of his nose with his thumb and index finger”. That is such a natural human movement that is never really described in books and it made my heart BREAK. Ola Tundun…Ola Tundun…Queen Ola. You can write, girl. You can write! The buildups in this book hold you and when Tundun hits the ground running during that last act...Oh my god! My poor heart! I cried, I jumped for joy, I yelled. All the reactions came out of me!

Watching Aari’s growth from this baby rabbit to a phoenix in the last act was beautiful! Absolutely beautiful! Watching her choose herself, recognizing and no longer regretting doing that…beautiful. Watching Caleb accept his actions, consequences, and feelings and being okay with being vulnerable…beautiful. But I will say that the miscommunication went on a tad bit longer than I wanted to the point it seemed like straight manipulation, but it worked in the end.

I can not say enough good things about this book. I can not say enough good things about this series. Now I’m going to stalk NetGalley for the third book when it’s ready because I need it. NEED IT!!

Edit: after finishing the trilogy and thinking about it, I think it’s only fair I amend this rating to 3.5⭐️ but rounded up, as I definitely preferred the first novel over the second and third, and feel it should be reflected in my star rating.

Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC I'm exchange for an honest review! When I saw this book on NetGalley, I've never hit "request" so fast in my life. I read Roommates, the prequel to Complicated, earlier this year, and I was beyond excited when I got it approved the next day!

"Complicated" is definitely a fitting name for this story. Ariella and Caleb getting together at the end of the previous book was not the start of their happily ever after - with Ariella's disapproving father, Ariella's ex-fiancé Jasper still hanging around, and what happened between Caleb and Melissa the last time Caleb was in Singapore... It was bound to be complicated. And that's before the events of this book even begins! If there's one thing you need to know, it's that the story definitely lives up to the title!!

Caleb and Aari... Aari and Caleb... Why won't you just communicate with each other?! I feel like so much of their pain and suffering is inflicted by themselves because they're not talking to each other, and it's infuriating!! Yet, I understand Caleb's hesitancy, his fears and worries. And Aari's anxiety is definitely something I can relate to! That being said, she seems to make a lot of assumptions, which is something I don't really like about her.

I'm still rooting for them though. The steamy scenes were steamy, even though I believe there were fewer of them in Complicated than there were in Roommates, and I WANT them to be together; despite everything, I really do believe they're soulmates that belong together!

Again, I found myself into the 90%s, wondering how one earth this story could be finished within the next couple of chapters. And considering this is the second time this has happened now, I don't know why I was surprised to learn that there will be a third and final book in this series! I don't know when it'll come, but I'll be keeping all my eyes and ears pierced, (im)patiently waiting to see where this story goes, after yet another intense cliffhanger!

I'm still hoping for that Happily Ever After for Caleb and Aari!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars for me: it was good, but I got a little frustrated with the characters at various points. However, the writing is great, the drama and tension is amazing, and I can’t wait to see how the story ends! Please don’t make us wait too long!!

Complicated-Book #2 Roommates

By Ola Tundun -I read Roommates and gave it 4*. I would highly recommend reading book #1 first because this novel picks up where Roommates left off.

Setting: London/Singapore

Genre : Contemporary Romance, Adult, AA, Women's Fic

Page count📖 : 405

Publication date: 1-5-24 , read 12-31-23

Rating: 3.5/5 ⭐

Spice level 2/5 🌶️all the sexy times are when they break up or right after highly emotional scenes

🤷🏾‍♀️WHAT TO EXPECT:
✨ pining H
✨ love triangle
✨ dual POVs H/h
✨ plenty of angst

⚠️: SA(just mentioned), social media bullying

Summary: This story continues where Ariella and Caleb left off in Roommates. They are in a relationship and confess love for each other. Enter Melissa Chang, a wealthy investor from Singapore who happens to know Caleb "personally." She interferes in their relationship, blackmails, and manipulates Caleb & Ariella once she becomes their boss. They still push and pull at each other, making up/breaking up. Caleb fake dates a MMA fighter and Ariella dates another womanizing playboy. Can they reconcile, become friends, or nothing at all?

Characters:

- 🚺 FMC Ariella Mason(26)-promoted and moved to Singapore to work for Melissa. A BOSS at work but exhausted by Caleb.

-🚹 MMC Caleb Black-miserable about Melissa but still wants Ariella. He has to grovel a lot for his lies and omissions. And he never answered who he really is???

🥰 What I liked:
- Ariella being career driven, getting promoted
- Jasper and Caleb's bromance
-Caleb and Lara's budding friendship
-Good advice from Ariella's mother Dahlia

😞 What I didn't like:
-Too long, boring parts-office politics, Caleb and Dominic chats w/ Ariella that just confuse her more.
-Trying to redeem Melissa with her bs apology and bribes.
-The fraud story is intriguing but just seems like it was too much in this book. About 100 pages could have been cut.
-The cliffhanger. Ariella has spent her time w/ Dominic friend zoning him and vice versa and now he wants her to take him seriously? I hope book #3 exposes him.

🙏🏿Thanks to NetGalley and Storm publishing for this ARC 💖! I voluntarily give my honest review and all opinions expressed are mine alone.

I’m not sure I’ve ever read a book that is so toxic - the main relationship, the friendships, and even the workplace and job. Everyone and everything was just so, so toxic.

I was tempted to DNF but stuck with it to the end - it just got more toxic with every page flip. I was hoping that a female COO of a company was going to be great girl power… sadly that’s where so much toxicity started. Caleb and Aari (even the spelling of the nickname annoyed me - Aari isn’t short for Ariella, why the double a??!) were completely toxic together.

There was cheating, partner swapping, blackmail, lying galore, a love hexagon (not just a triangle), potential company illegal activities and even more shady things going on with every new page. I can’t believe anyone who’s reviewed this and has given it higher than a 3-star is honestly saying they liked it (reviews are supposed to be truthful - they’re for other readers and not for the author, folks!). Everything about this book is everything I hate in a storyline.

I cannot suggest that anyone else try this one. I didn’t read the first book but thought about it, and now I’m glad I didn’t. This book gives us info about what toxic things happen in that one. Sounds even worse. Definitely not reading book 3.

2.5 stars very generously provided but really more on the lower end of 2. I read over 450 books last year and nothing was anywhere near what I just put myself through with this one. Save yourselves the time of 405 pages and read literally anything else! Should be on my DNF shelf…

It has been a week since a finished this book and I still caan't get over it.

I was waiting for this book since a read Roommates, the first part of this story and the wait was so worth it. As you might know, this is the second part of Ariela and Caleb's story and it was so good. Ola has a writing style so special that caught you attention from the very beginning.

Im not going to lie and I am going to admit that I knew some of the things that happened in the story base on the first book, like how Melissa will mess up with both Caleb and Aari, but the rest of the plot twist I did not expected that. And now I need to wait even more in order to know what is going too happened with my favourite couple.

The new characters were amazing, and the develope of some other characters were also a surprise to me. Jasper is now my fav ex boyfriend and I have to say that I can not stand Lara, there were times where I couldn't stand how she treated Caleb, but it also because In love him so much that if someone is hurting him, I really want to kill them, even Aari.

I don't want to spoil anymore about his book, but if you have the opportunity to read these books, do it. Ola is by far my favourite writer of 2023 and I am so happy and thankful that she and her publisher gave me the opportunity to read this books.

Overall: 4

This is the second book in the series picking up where the FMMC was offered the job of a lifetime in another country by the mistress of the MMC. Not knowing the connection between the mistress and MMC we follow the FMMC navigating life in the spotlight and having to change her imagine fitting was the mistress thinks the MMC wants. Suspicious activity with a customer leads the FMMC to discover the truth about how the MMC has been doing so well in his job the last few years. It also comes to light that mistress has been doing some shady business dealings and it could lead to the everyone getting in legal trouble. The FMMC takes the bull by the horn and puts an end to the shady business dealings, and we are left with a cliff hanger on how it all works out. I really hope we get a third book. Again, we have spice between the FMMC and MMC but it's fairly mild and makes it appear to be the only they care about. The relationship is deeper than intimacy, but they have trouble expressing that to each other and use "spice" to communicate with each other.

Roommates by Ola Tundan ended on a twisted yet hopeful note; Caleb and Ariella are still trying to navigate their relationship but with unique methodology. They have both stepped outside of their fledgling couple ship but handled the fallout in different ways: Ariella confessed her confused feelings AND the encounter while Caleb, in a mixture of trepidation and hurt, did not disclose Melissa’s manipulation and pressure. The next installment in this series is called Complicated. This title gives us only a mild hint at all the hijinks, gaslighting, subterfuge and pure evilness we will wade through! Caleb remains wonderfully broken; he wants to do better and be better but continues to self-sabotage. He had so many opportunities to be candid about situations but allowed Ariella to enter the business arena blind. However, Ariella more than rose to the challenge and her growth trajectory was inspiring to witness. The story ends on a cliffhanger, and we are all wondering what else does Melissa have in store and will other challenges come from other angles.

I found the characters to be quite unlikeable and hard to relate to. The most interesting plot line for me was the fact that Caleb was sexually assaulted and was clearly suffering from PTSD and victim mentality and that was completely under utilised to the point that one wonders why it was mentioned other than to help him push the supposed love of his life further. The fact that she calls Aari ‘my little mason’ comes across as patronising and the calling her breasts ‘my girls’ just gives me the ick! Also, why does he keep giving her hickeys, they are not 15 and the ‘branding her’ is a massive red flag since she also mentiones ‘people should not belong to anyone’ but seems totally ok with Caleb doing that repeatedly. It doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense and I understand that the point was that she makes her loose her mind but honestly I just think this wasn’t the book for me. I found it very hard to relate to

4.5 stars. Thanks to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the E-ARC. I read Roomates and loved it so of course I requested Complicated as soon as I saw that it had come out on Netgalley. When I saw the title it reminded me of when on MySpace we would put complicated as the relationship status and I knew this book was gonna be good. I loved the second book I honestly didnt think it could get better but it did somehow Caleb became more humanized and Ariella well we just saw her grow and blossom. This second book was so beautify woven together still keeping it so raw and real. I found myself stopping my reading because I didnt want to finish the story. Even though this book is fiction it is written as though its something that actually does happen and I love that. I cant wait for the conclusion of Caleb and Ariella because I know its gonna be EPIC if its anything to go by Roomates and Complicated

Picking up where Roommates left off, we follow Ariella and Caleb as they publicly announce their relationship to their friends and family. Everything seems to be going great until someone from Calebs past shows up to the office of Ivory and Bow. Melissa has offered Ariella a job running the Singapore division of Ivory & Bow. Excited with the opportunity to explore a new country, and challenge herself at work, she accepts. Caleb is suspicious of the job offer and tries (and fails) to convince Ariella to decline. What follows next is an up and down rollercoaster of emotions while Ariella and Caleb try to work through their relationship problems.

I loved Roommates, and Complicated is no different! I can't wait to see how Ariella and Calebs relationship continues in the next book! Thanks so much to Netgalley, Storm Publishing and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I will say, reading this book over certain amount of days was frustrating. Caleb had me very frustrated because he just could not tell the truth and the more lies. He didn’t tell compounded on More. I do like that the character development was spot on and the story definitely kept me intrigued. I am definitely looking forward to the second part because this did leave on a cliffhanger.

When I finished the first book in this series, Roommates, I was heartbroken. I couldn’t wait for the next book. With this one I knew it was part of a trilogy and I was ready to be tortured with the wait once again. In this part of the story Ariella moves to Singapore as her career takes off. Caleb reluctantly follows, ready for his happiness to implode.

I love these two characters! Aarie, with her strength and intelligence, and Caleb, the reformed playboy. The peripheral characters are perfectly drawn. I especially love Lara and Aarie’s mom, Dahlia.

I just finished this book and I want to open it up and reread it already. I’m impatiently awaiting the next installment. I recommend starting with Roommates. It’s not a “dumb-downed” romcom so be prepared to stick with it, you won’t be sorry. 4 ⭐️
