Angels #1

Angel's Touch

Kira Wagner is in Piper Beach to make money. The small resort town needs a high-end hotel and spa for women. With everything she owns invested in the expensive land, she needs a local expert to get the project up and running. Megan McLaren’s name is at the top of her list.

Megan isn’t aware that the woman on her massage table is planning to offer her a job. She gives her healing touch as she would to anyone and turns down the invitation to dinner. But the persistent Kira soon awakens something else in Megan: memories of pasts they may have shared, none of which ended happily.

Megan agrees to consult with Kira, but her only goal is to make sure the new hotel doesn’t ruin the sacred spaces she knows are nearby. She wishes she could tell Kira the truth, but she’s deeply afraid that Kira will look at her like every other woman in her life has when she explains about the powerful ley lines… and the angels…

3 1/2 Stars. This book was pretty weird, but I couldn't help but enjoy it. Way different than any books I have read before. It was interesting to get into the head of a masseur (never thought I would say that). But it wasn't just reading about massages, but a woman who is visited by angels and uses healing light to fix aliments of the body. Like I said weird. I just got sucked into it anyway. The characters were likeable, though you wanted to knock some sense into them. The romance was sweet. And there was a little bit of drama with an arsonist and other things that kept the pages turning.
I'm actually surprised I liked this. But I did, and I will be reading book 2.

I gave this book a try because another reviewer said that even though she doesn't usually go for stories with magic, this one worked for her. I'm glad I gave it a chance, because I really enjoyed characters and the world that Caldwell created. The magic was handled in such a way that it wasn't a mystery, it was just a fact, and smoothly built into the story.

This is one of those books I picked up randomly during a sale at some point. It and it's sequel. I hadn't been sure what to expect, and it took a while for me to try what I'd bought.

Turns out I rather loved this book & the sequel.

Two main POV characters. Kira the businesswoman in town to restore a hotel & opening a new spa, both of which are woman centric or something like that. Other main character is Megan. Who sees angels and is a massage therapist.

The two meet when Kira decides, after a run on a beach, to get her first ever massage. To a certain extent because she believes Megan might be in the massage tent (she's been informed that Megan is quite good, & Kira wants to try to hire her to run her spa.

The two immediately feel a connection. Complications ensue, though. Megan looks exactly like the woman Kira always dreamed about. While Megan doesn't want to work in a spa, & doesn't want to date a 'client'.

Fun exciting book.

I quite enjoyed this story, and usually, the inclusion of esoteric/paranormal type stuff would earn this book a solid four stars before I'd read a word. But once I had read the words, I was slightly disappointed.

Angels are very much a part of the tale, but references to them are vague at best. To be honest I kind of got the feeling that they were added in as an aside. In other words, the lore and mythology of angel assisted healing, ley lines, and energy healing was not very well researched. So the author covered for that lack of knowledge by chucking in the results of a few quick internet searches just to give the story another element. And one that quite honestly didn't really need to be there! And then she also added in past lives and reincarnation. Just to, you know, complicate matters a bit.

I mean seriously, the bit about Svetlana and the magical boulder didn't need to be there. I think the book is still worth a read, but only if you also happen to enjoy those self-published pieces that litter the internet. Many of them are good, some are great, but most could do with some professional editing and guidance.

And that in a nutshell, is my review. It is a cute story and has potential, but it needs some more work.

An honest review.. I didn't like it.

It must be me I think... I really had trouble getting into this one... and yet Siri Caldwell's book 'Mistletoe Mishap ' is one of my all time favourites.. The story wasn't there for me in this one. The characters lacked depth and I just couldn't pick up on angels flying around.. Sorry about that. Will wait for her next book with anticipation.

Megan is a masseuse who believes in past lives, angels, ley lines, and karma. Kira is a business developer who is only in Piper Beach to renovate a hotel before moving on, and she definitely doesn't believe in any of that stuff. But there's an undeniable spark between the two, and Kira soon begins to discover that there's more to life than what meets the eye.

I really did like this book; I enjoyed the New Age feel to it, and I liked both Megan and Kira. I do think that the book would have benefited from tighter editing, though; there didn't seem to be a lot of direction in the book, especially in the middle, when the characters just floundered around for a while under flimsy pretenses. Once I got over the middle hump, however, things were back on track. I think if the author had narrowed down the various drama-inducing plots to one or two (maybe saving the ley lines, which was totally anticlimactic after so much buildup, and the end plot, which I won't spoil), it would have been a better read.

Still, I did enjoy reading this book, and I would recommend it to those who want a little more New Age in their lesbian romance reads.

A real good story and characters. I loved that both leads had very individual and clear voices...their differences truly drove the story and then brought them together, with respect and understanding. I'm looking forward to this authors next title.

With regards to the "new age/angels" subject - all were dealt with clearly and calmly. It's hard to explain but in their presentations and appearances, it was all normal and every-day...that helped the book tremendously.

A really good read..and a really good 1st book...I have liked it all: characters, plot, dialogues, interactions.
I can only recommend this book because is a fine and believable romance, have a touch of paranormal that don't exclude a normal kind of life and is perfect for few hours of relax and fun.
And I am already ready for book 2!!!
