Your Money Life: How to Afford the Future You Want

Rate this book
We need to talk about money. Women have been overlooked and underestimated when it comes to finance; we typically earn less, are encouraged to spend more, and have fewer opportunities to build funds. But if we talk about money and share our knowledge, we will grow in confidence and wealth. This is the secret to securing your future and paying for all the things that matter.

Whether you want to have children, get married, pay for a mortgage, start your own business or pay for nice holidays, all these goals cost money. But by building solid money habits you can plan for all life’s major milestones and dream bigger. Bola Sol offers the essential tools needed to get started and make your bank balance healthier. Once you’ve done that, she demonstrates how you can grow your ambition and become wealthier. Finally, she reveals how you can use this money smartly to pay for things you want and become happier.

Money isn’t everything, but Bola shows how you can build your financial knowledge to enhance your wellbeing, open up new possibilities, and achieve your life goals.

I have to admit, I had a "not so good" start with this one.
Part One felt like the standard beginner advice you’d find in any article or YouTube video. But then, it really picks up.
Part Two was a highlight, especially as a foreigner living in the UK. It’s refreshing to see a discussion tailored to the UK, considering how much of the online space is dominated by US perspectives. The author’s background as a black woman made the book feel even more personal and relatable.
Part Three was the perfect culmination, reinforcing an important message: money is a tool to live, not the end goal.
Overall, this book offers valuable insights and sparks the right conversations, whether with family, friends, or yourself. While it didn’t break entirely new ground for me, it provided great takeaways and pointed me toward topics I want to explore further.

Listened to this book and really enjoyed it. It’s a great starting point for a lot of women - though it often offers basic and unsolicited advice about random other areas of life? And some contrived statements about being a woman but it’s so real because financial literacy is key to everything. Best ingested as the very first book of my new year before becoming financially independent and such.

I got this book because I wanted to be more financially literate and saw that the author wrote it with women in mind. Some parts of the book were slower to get through (I’m just not so interested in investments but important to read about). Sometimes she would write things pertaining to specific laws or important knowledge in Britain, which I couldn’t relate to. Overall, it was an important book for me to read and I learned important things I hope to use in my life.

Thorough, thoughtful expertise delivered with examples that help to clarify the points. One of those books you can go back to again and again. Love the way it covers making sure your finances are healthy, you’re set up for building wealth and you are able to use your money to make you happier too. Highly recommend!

Would definitely read again as I skipped some chapters out I didn’t think were relevant to me at my stage in life but it’s definitely insightful and has made me even more interested about investing in my future self. I would highly recommend!

Such a great book! Will definitely be revisiting and reviewing certain chapters as some didn’t apply to me yet, but was still interesting to read. I love how the author simplified what I considered to be finance gibberish, she has now made comprehensive English to follow. Highly recommend!

It provides a good overview of the basics of smart money management. I like that the author included her own background and elements of her aspirations and how she’s preparing for the future herself as they were great examples.

Audible audiobook edition.
Sound, succinct advice for a variety of life stages and lifestyles. Lots to think about and take on board. I can see myself returning to this audio book in the future.
