I was an omega in heat.
One wrong choice.
And I lost everything.

For two years, I’ve longed to flee my cage. Alphas bought me, traded me, and constantly abused me. They taught me the only good alpha is a dead alpha. Now, I'm a pregnant omega with no hope of escape until one desperate act changes everything.

It was going to be me against the world until Lucas Security hurtled into my life. I have never met three men more determined to protect me. But it’s going to take more than two delicious smelling alphas to convince me I can trust them, or a handsome beta on a mission to impress me.

Garrison, Blaine, and Vaughn have nothing I want. They seem to have a default mode set to guard me, and they drop everything to take me to doctor’s appointments. But I know better. This world has taught me to rely only on myself. Trouble is hunting me down, and if I want to survive, I might just have to put my faith in Pack Lucas.

I’ve spent years learning to keep people out. So why do I keep wanting to let them in?

CAPTIVE OMEGA is book two in an interconnected Omegaverse series. It features a traumatized heroine and three possessive heroes looking to dote on their precious omega. HEA guaranteed. For readers 18+.

DNF. It's a good story, I just got bored, which was my issue with the first book too. I skimmed ahead and this author really found a way to make the pregnant omega go into heat (someone drugged her) since this story is so slow that she still doesn't have the baby by the end. Presumably so that it could have a heat included. Had to roll my eyes at that. Also I love slow burns, but only having her kiss one of her alphas for the first time ever in the very last chapter when she's been sleeping/fooling around with the others a few times? Nahhh I'm good.

I received Captive Omega in return for an honest review from Chaotic Creatives.

Captive Omega is the 2nd installment in Their Precious Omega. The story while a standalone has the prior books characters sprinkled throughout the story and I feel that you need to read the first. I loved Resa so much she's such a great character and I'm glad this is her story from the little bit we got to meet her in the prior book. These men are a prime example why choose is my favorite trope they each complement, support and just work perfectly together. I couldn't pick a favorite as they only work so well together.

I'm a tad bit obsessed with the omegaverse trope right now and I knew the moment I read the synopsis that I had to read them both and ended up devouring them one after another over the course of a couple of days. The characters are unique and each one brings something amazing to the pack I just loved them all. I felt like I really was able to connect with them as they are engaging and felt so real with real life issues.

These are my first books by the author but I'm obsessed with her storytelling. Each story is beautifully written with characters I fell in love with and stories that I didn't want to end. I was hooked from the very first page till the last and ended up reading Captive Omega in just one long afternoon as it's chunky. I loved every moment it gave me all the feels even made me cry happy tears. I'm obsessed with the authors stories she's going on my auto buy list because I can't wait for the next one. Highly recommend if you like an action packed steamy why choose romance.

I think I loved this one more than the first! And then when I saw who is getting book 3…I’m unwell! 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽

Resa had it so bad, like next level trauma—and when she finally sees a window of opportunity, she risks it all and actually gets away from the monsters who had broken her repeatedly over the last two years.

Fate is a crazy thing..and when she is trapped in an alley by her captor’s men, Vaughn, the Beta who would quickly change her entire life, swoops in and saves her—in more ways than one.

Pack Lucas is so careful and intentional with Resa, and there is literally nothing they won’t do to make sure both Resa and her unborn child are taken care of. They are patient and loving, and give her all the space she needs. And even Blaine slowly begins to let his guard down, despite his own issues dealing with his survivor’s guilt and scars.

Garrison is literally one of the best pack leaders an omega could ask for. He is the backbone of their family and is a protector by nature. I loved that he was so mature and wise..and the deal with puzzles helping him relax was so damn cute lol

I’m also super appreciative that the epilogues did not include the birth! lol as someone who isn’t crazy about pregnancy in romance, I actually didn’t mind it in Resa’s story, so no birth makes me love it even more!

Definitely read Runaway Omega if you haven’t yet, and then pick this one up!! You will not regret it!

Omega verse/RH MMM/Multi PoV

SYNOPSIS: This book follows on from the previous story in terms of the overarching storyline and Resa was a character we met in the previous book. There are appearances by the main characters from the previous book as well. Resa, the FC, was kidnapped from a free heat clinic and found herself a captive omega being sold to alphas in auctions for 2 years. She manages to escape and is found by Pack Lucas who turn out to be her scent match. Due to the abuse she has suffered for the past 2 years Resa has PTSD and hates all alphas but she knows that she is safer staying with Pack Lucas for now whilst she figures out her next move and makes the alphas who hurt her pay. The book tracks Resa finding herself again and falling for Pack Lucas as well as getting some revenge.

Heat Level: 🍆🍆/🌶️🌶️🌶️ Whilst there are not too many sex scenes they are decently written and hot. There‘s no kink but there are some group scenes when the FC is in heat.

The story is well edited although there are some typos but not so many that would spoil your read. Resa has suffered horrible abuse and essentially been kept as a sex slave and sold from alpha to alpha. The author does not go into her abuse in detail but there are enough references and a couple of high level flashbacks that give you an idea as to what Resa went through. Her hated of alphas is justified when you see what she has been through.

The story had a lot of promise but whilst the first one was a relatively enjoyable read this one was too similar (omega who has suffered abuse, saved by her scent matches, hates all alphas) and just didn‘t really deliver. It was a shame because I liked the FC and the MCs were OK in the usual good looking, possessive and protective way although a bit stereotyped with the fun but slightly killer MC, the sensitive MC with damage and the big strong silent MC. The idea of one of the alphas being disfigured through an accident and working through his own PTSD was interesting and gave depth to the story but it didn‘t go anywhere. Blaine had all these issues about people seeing his burns and touching him and he only seemed to move forward very slightly until the end of the book where he apparently could suddenly handle the FC seeing him naked and touching him. It felt like the author just couldn‘t be bothered to craft a gradual healing plotline and gave up at the end. Why even introduce this concept in the first place if you weren‘t going to do it justice? Just a plot hook?

The narrative drags with very little actually happening. The story mainly revolves around the FC just learning to trust the MCs. There are also gaps and the book feels incomplete in places. For example you never find out who kidnapped the FC in the beginning and therefore who the baby‘s father is or what exactly happened to Resa. The overall investigation into the alphas and what they have been doing doesn‘t seem to be going anywhere and, the worst, the FC‘s spearhead to the court. I mean, this whole book is built around the FC wanting the alphas to be punished and for people to know what they have done. She finally makes it to court having gone on about wanting her say and what happens? She sits in the witness box and says essentially, I was really badly treated and the alphas should be punished. We are then supposed to believe that this was cathartic and was so impressive that it gets about 50million hits on social media? I mean come on? That‘s all you had to say? and at a hearing that was nothing to do with what happened to you? Then we find that the last alpha who had held her prisoner was arrested - case closed. Nothing about how he was caught or any other alphas being caught or being made to suffer. It was just so anticlimactic it pretty much ruined the book for me.

It was a shame because this could have been so much better.

I love, love this story with Resa, Vaughn, Garrison, and Blaine. Resa, an omega, was mentally and physically assaulted and does not trust anyone, especially alphas. Resa is a strong courageous woman and was able to escape. Garrison and Blaine (alphas) and Vaughn(beta) were smitten with Resa but treated her like a beautiful broken bird who would happily peck them in the neck if she thought for one second they would hurt her. We got to know each character’s story and I grew to love all three men. It was a beautiful written story that I wish it never ended. Phenomenal story.

Only fair, failed to deliver when it counted

I was with it until 84% when she goes to court to give her victim impact statement, a statement she has gone on and on about giving, needing to change the world. At that point the storyline became a total and complete anticlimactic letdown, the most lazy writing, failing to delve into the emotions, mental turmoil, or the details of what happened to her at that golden opportunity, her statement to the court, that had been so built up throughout the book. It was a complete disappointment and entirely anticlimactic either because lack of understanding of what a victim impact statement is or a lack of imagination in writing the tough stuff, emotional, mental, and physical effects of abuse -- something CENTRAL to this story. It was a pathetic victim impact statement; practically no details of the horrors the omegas being trafficked endure, no emotional or mental impacts described, honestly it's completely worthless.

The lack of choice but the three options she laid out are not earth shattering by any means -- most people outside the very wealthy have limited choices -- and the fact that she was abducted loses impact without at least TALKING ABOUT HOW IT HAS AFFECTED HER emotionally, what the impact has been to her life after escaping, the mental toll her time in captivity is taking on her, and how the kidnapping , captivity, trafficking, and rape are STILL AFFECTING HER -- that's a victim impact statement HOW IT AFFECTED HER THEN AND NOW.

But it does more than just frustrate due to it's lack of detail and effectiveness, it causes the whole plot to fizzle out at that point. I mean, what is the point of taking such a drastic risk to her life, to the lives of the guys protecting her to say something so vague, and worthlessly lackluster, because she said NOTHING ABOUT HOW IT IMPACTED HER. She spewed an accusation about abduction and rape WITH NO DETAILS TO BACK IT UP, no details to offer as evidence or facts of how the specific acts altered her: the fear of white coats and how/why she has that trigger, the distrust, the pain both physical and mental recovering from her escape, how the repeated rapes made her feel like an object. . . Any of that in one concisely detailed monologue is what was called for, exploring the deeper parts of the character AND giving IMPACTS to the victims of the alphas' actions.

SHE DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT SHE HAD BEEN GOING THROUGH, SHE LITERALLY SAID NOTHING. The author could have put in ONE LINE something like, "I told the court how I had been abducted from the clinic, about the glass wall at the auctions, the leering alphas bidding on me like a piece of meat, the drugs to force my heats, the rapes, the captivity, escaping and how I'd been afraid ever since." But she DIDN'T write any of that, she didn't even give us a glimmer of what actually happened to Resa and that she actually told the courtroom anything meaningful and YET THE CHARACTERS ARE TALKING AS IF SHE DID. Damned frustrating.

But NO we got a tween like complaint about lack of choice, which like I said above, is something true for most people, so it doesn't really garner sympathy or EXPLAIN ANYTHING which is what we needed the VICTIM IMPACT STATEMENT for. From that point the characters SAY how she "opened up," when the READERS are NOT given that satisfaction. From there it just devolved into another garden-variety omegaverse book with no real depth, missing the point of the plot devices chosen to be used.

ehh

It was an ok read. I liked the characters but it was so slow. I was exited when I read this was a pregnant omega. Except the pregnancy isn’t really addressed. She’s just pregnant and that’s it. Like it’s an afterthought. She doesn’t have the baby by the end of the book. I was just kind of disappointed.

“Captive Omega” is the newest release from Ember Nicole and is another dark, gritty omegaverse that follows the same timeline as book one, only through the eyes of omega Resa.

Resa has suffered immense trauma over the last two years, both physical and mental. She was abused during a visit to a heat clinic and, since then, has been a captive of one of the Asylum members (who we learned about in book one). A freak accident provides Resa with the chance to escape, and she quickly falls right into the lap of the Lucas pack.

Before I continue, I want to provide a disclaimer that this review will contain spoilers to the first book. If you have not read the first book, which is by no means required in order to enjoy this one, please be aware that there will be spoilers if you proceed.

When Resa is taken in by Pack Lucas, she has no clue that they’ve been looking for her for quite some time. Bloody and pregnant, Resa begins to build herself back up with the help of two alphas and one stubborn beta.

Compared to book one, I enjoyed the MMCs quite a bit, but grew frustrated with Resa. Like Ever in book one, Resa was a horrible communicator. However, she made great strides to better herself mentally, and for that I applaud her. I also felt that the journey to recovery was written very realistically, as Resa spends the *entire* book working on bettering herself. Resa has grit and tenacity and I will give her that. The MMCs are not without fault, however. I found their pack to be a bit disjointed. We have alpha Garrison, stoic leader of the pack, who I enjoyed. Then we have Blaine, who suffered a horrible attack that left him with burns over his entire body. Blaine, understandably, is suffering with immense trauma and self-esteem issues. Lastly, we have the beta Vaughn, who unfortunately, every time I read his name, immediately thought we were talking about Vince Vaughn. Nevertheless, Vaughn was the light to Resa's darkness. He was the comedic character of the bunch, and truly helped Resa make the most progress in her journey.

Pack aside, I felt that there were times where the plot became quite predictable and boring. While shorter than Ever’s book, there were still chapters where I wanted to grab Resa by the shoulders and tell her to hurry up and get back to the men!!! As seen in book one, when the FMCs come into their own and begin to have a voice, that is when family shows up and wants to bring them back to their old life. For Resa, this meant her family bringing her home and making no mention of her pack. I don’t remember how many chapters Resa spent at home, but I do remember feeling so frustrated that Resa made so much progress in her healing but was just as weak when it came to standing up for herself. In a way, I see bits of myself in her. You can be strong in front of others, but when it comes to family you feel like that small child once again. Despite that, I still would have liked to see Resa advocate for herself and her new life.

Still an enjoyable continuation of the series with an overall rating of 3.5. I’m most excited for book three where we get to see Della and what pack she ends up with!

If you asked me what type of book I have read more than any other, I would say without a doubt the answer would be Omegaverse. Anytime I come across a new one, I have to read it. I have read sweet ones and angsty ones, I’ve read funny ones and ones that dragged on. I can honestly say that Captive Omega is one of the best and most unique that I have read.

This book is the second in the Their Precious Omega series. You don’t necessarily have to read the first before this one, but it will spoil Runaway Omega if you read this first and you will lose some of the connections between the characters. So I would definitely read Runaway Omega before jumping into this one.

What makes this story unique from most of the omegaverse stories that I have read is that the FMC has been through so much trauma in her life before she meets Pack Lucas. Omegaverse stories often have some conflict but what Resa has gone through would often completely break a person. But she is strong and determined and is able to fight through it all. When she meets Pack Lucas, she has lost all trust in people, particularly Alphas. I loved her journey in this book and the way she heals.

Pack Lucas is such an amazing pack. The alphas are caring and gentle. They are understanding of the journey that Resa is on and they respect her trauma. I have to say that my favorite is Vaughn. He is funny and I love his first encounter with Resa. All three of the guys are so great and one of the best packs.

I really enjoyed this book and I am always looking for good Omegaverse reads. This definitely fits into that category. If you are are looking for that too you should check this out. Just be careful if you are easily triggered because there is some trauma that can be too much for some people.

This is really two stars, but the patient nature of the heroes gives it a bonus star.

This story just felt like it was hastily assembled. Editing issues aside (though those were noticeable), there are such several glaring inconsistencies. Resa does not act pregnant 95% of the time. If fact, it’s really easy to forget she is pregnant because the only sign is that she eats more. Which could also be because she was imprisoned by Asylum members for two years. There is also the thing with dart, which made no sense. The bad guys would waste the opportunity to kill, one of the few people who can name names, in order to make her pay for killing Rupert? None of those evil dudes are that emotionally invested in her suffering. It felt like the author realized an omega book without a heat wouldn’t work, so she tried to manufacture a reason with a halfhearted explanation. Lastly, I’m really frustrated by books that suggest trauma can be magically healed by love. Resa managed to overcome the trauma of being held captive, drugged and assaulted for two years because she lives with some nice guys for a few weeks? She never talks about what she went through, she doesn’t go to therapy, and she carries a knife she has no idea how to use against trained fighters (which all of the nice guys around her are). And same with Blaine. He just decides he’s going to start touching Resa and managed to have sex with her immediately? I don’t buy it.

Overall, this book tried to do too much. The author clearly wanted a slow burn, but she should have written a longer book or split it into two. And at the end, we find out Everleigh’s sister is missing, because apparently she didn’t suffer enough stress in the last book. I think this author is just not for me.

I liked these versions of Alpha’s and Betas. I liked a heroine who didn’t let her body dictate her life.
The story was interesting. The romance was satisfying. It dragged a little around the 2/3 mark, I had to push through to keep reading, but overall a decent read. It ticked my boxes for my current mood anyway.

Top faves:
-a solid, thoughtful, quiet, strong, MATURE main alpha. I crave more men like this as leads. I don’t need red flags, I need dependable people who I can trust what they say. You. Could. Trust. This. Man. I liked him a lot.
-supporting main men (beta and alpha). The laughter and cheekiness of the beta was heartwarming. The addition of the traumatised alpha was interesting, although it almost wasn’t pulled off.
-female lead was consistent with her traumatic background and how it impacted her behaviour currently.
-there was no body betrayal. I really liked how characters made an actual, realistic attempt to negate that aspect. She felt it, but she had firm control over her mental walls, even in the instance biology pushed them together.

Things I didn’t like:
-Blaine was almost an incomplete story. I was almost all the way through the book, in fact I pretty much was, before he had a decent intimate scene or a more important, emotional bonding scene. Not enough story was given to him coming full circle with his issues
-story climax was flat. The buildup to her big speech was well done. Her actual speech was anticlimactic. Made me wonder how earth she felt she was going to change anything by being emotive. It wasn’t enough for me, sorry. Then we also had the arrests. That went off with barely a side mention, and yet a decent amount of time was devoted in the book to her working on names and places.

Enjoyable easy light mood read.

I want to preface this with saying I am enjoying this series. this book was extremely mid though.

for this book to kind of focus on a pregnant omega this book had a whole lot of none of that. I actually don’t read pregnancy books, I’m just not at that stage in life but I was ready for this story and was willing to overlook it. but this book really had like no pregnancy.

with the timeline of the story, I kind of get it because we’re on the cusp on the second trimester or just the beginning of it but I really expected more. I think if you took out the pregnancy the story would still be the same and it wouldn’t be missed. I don’t understand why we didn’t have any ultrasounds or scans for the pregnancy. I feel like that’s extremely important and we would’ve learned how far she actually was. we also had such minimal focus on the pregnancy, the blurb made it seem like it was going to be a major plot point.

next…I don’t know if I missed something but what happened with Lang? It felt like he was a bit bad guy but I honestly cannot tell you if this plot point was dealt with or not.

don’t ask me about Dexter, idk who tf that guy is.

SLOOOOOOOOW BURN AS FUCK. The warning isn’t exaggerating. there’s still no bonds or repeated wild sex by the end of the book…this includes the TWO epilogues.

this book you gotta read if you’re just in a silly goofy mood. don’t have any stakes, just read it so you can get the lore.

I’m buying the physical copy though 🤪. I recommend the series still 🙂‍↔️

Okay, Captive Omega had me by the throat from page one. Resa’s been through it—like next-level trauma—and this book does not shy away from showing just how much damage two years of captivity can do. But then comes Pack Lucas: Garrison, Blaine, and Vaughn, who might as well have been created in a lab specifically to dote on and protect one broken omega and her unborn baby. And let me tell you, they understood the assignment.

Resa doesn’t just fall into their arms and declare love—this is a slow, slow burn, full of tension, fear, and some serious “can I even trust this?” energy. And honestly? It worked. Every bit of affection and trust felt earned, and watching her slowly, painfully open up to these men was incredibly rewarding. Garrison is the stoic protector, Blaine has that delicious broody edge, and Vaughn? Vaughn is sunshine wrapped in Beta vibes. Total heart-stealer.

And let’s talk about the pregnancy arc—even though the baby isn’t biologically theirs, these men step up like it's their own. The care, the gentleness, the absolute reverence with which they treat Resa and her baby? Chef’s kiss. It’s the kind of fierce, unconditional pack bond that makes your heart ache in the best way. Also? Major props for skipping the birth in the epilogue—thank you, Ember, for sparing us the full delivery room drama. 😂

So yeah, Captive Omega was emotional, sweet, and full of protective alpha (and beta!) energy. If you loved book one, you’ll absolutely want to pick this up. And if you’re into healing arcs, found families, and heroes who get it, this is your next fix.

Resa has been bought, sold, and mistreated for two long years—so when she finally escapes, pregnant and terrified, it’s impossible not to root for her. She’s rescued by the men of Lucas Security: two alphas and one beta who are determined to protect her, even if she’s convinced she shouldn’t trust any of them.

This is book two in the series, and like the first, the omega FMC spends most of the story pushing away the men who genuinely care for her. In Resa’s case, she doesn’t just distrust alphas—she hates all of them, despite having a loving alpha father. I struggled with that. I love omegaverse stories, and Ember L. Nicole is a strong writer, but it’s tough for me to enjoy a book where the omega is openly disgusted by the honorable men trying so hard to show her she’s safe.

I understand her trauma, absolutely—but at some point the constant denial shifts from self-protection to plain stubbornness. These poor guys go above and beyond to prove they’re different, and once Resa finally softens, it all wraps up in what’s basically an extended epilogue. It left me feeling like the emotional payoff just wasn’t there after the long buildup.

That said, I know there’s an audience for this type of dynamic—it just isn’t my personal preference. If you enjoy a very slow-burn, heavy-trauma omega journey with patient, loyal alphas, this might be right up your alley.

CAPTIVE OMEGA
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

Okay. Here’s the deal. And don’t get mad… but I liked Resa more than Everleigh, but found myself more inclined to Pack Ashe… buutttt I did love Pack Lucas.

Came for the men, stayed for the heroine.

Resa’s been through hell and back, experiencing trauma with heat clinics and being in captivity for the past two years. She gets rescued by Park Lucas, but each have their own traumas. Garrison, Vaughn, and Blaine. (BLAINE has my heart 😩😩😩😩😮‍💨). I can’t believe how well this book flowed and mainly focused on Resa growing and going through the trauma she faced, and fears toward alphas.

Vaughn, sweet baby Vaughn, had his own worries beyond being the beta in a trio of two alphas. Blaine had immense trauma from everything that happened with Violet, constantly blaming himself and Garrison? Well… he does puzzles. He’s like the all-seeing guardian but we never really get into his story. Vaughn serves as comic relief for Resa when she first arrives, giving her a knife and dubbing her bloodthirsty omega.

Okay. Before I go and spoil the entire book… here are the tropes
- bodyguard romance 🌸
- abused fmc x abused mmcs 💘
- MMFM 🌸
- Omegaverse 💘
- They fell first and harder 🌸
- Why Choose 💘
- Traumatized fmc 🌸
- Scent Matching 💘
- Slowish Burn 🌸

DNF.

Maybe it’s a good book, maybe i would’ve given it an high rating, but there are a couple of things towards the end that i didn’t like.

Before starting a book in my kindle i always look for certain key words that would make me DNF a book and if i find them then i don’t even start reading.
For example i usually search for “pregnancy” or similar words, but since this book is based on a pregnancy i didn’t need to, i knew what i was getting myself into. So this time my words were others and i didn’t like what i found.

(And yes, this means i didn’t actually read the book, only snippets, this is more a note to myself than a “review”. Also, the first book in the series is still in my TBR, i’m weird)

This is the second book in the Their Precious Omega series. While the books in this series are standalones (focused on one FMC per book) they are best read sequentially due to the societal events that occur in the first book. There are numerous very dark elements to this story so please read the trigger warnings.

Tropes and themes include:
✨Why choose
✨Omegaverse
✨Billionaire romance
✨Hurt/comfort
✨Past trauma
✨Heats and knots
✨Who did this
✨Mate bonds
✨Bodyguard
✨Found family
✨Scent matches

Rating: 4/5 Stars 3/5 Flames

Nicknames: Bloodthirsty Omega

The Lovely: I enjoyed the characters, especially the FMC - I liked her spunk and determination, and her stabby tendencies. Of the MMCs, I really liked the the story behind one of them and thought it presented some unique opportunities in terms of bonding and connecting. I also liked the found family aspect beyond the pack.

The Mundane: Much like the first book, this one felt quite long. But at the same time, there were opportunities for more emotional connection between the FMC and the pack.

Recommendation: I love this series for the hurt/comfort vibes and the sweet, caring packs. The next book in this series is due to release this summer and focuses on a character we’ve met before. I’m excited to follow her story going forward. I also hope we get to see a bit more of both packs we’ve already met.

Captive Omega is book two in the Their Precious Omega Series.

I honestly wasn't sure if we could get a book as good as the first in the series, but here we are. Again, I couldn't honestly tell you which of Pack Lucas was my favourite. They were all uniquely amazing. I loved all three of them. They were very understanding and considerate of Resa's concerns. They took her safety seriously from the very first moment. They were accepting of all aspects of her life and tried to give her everything she wanted so she knew she could trust them. Blaine, Vaughn, and Garrison were perfect for Resa.

Resa was a strong person who wanted to make a change in the world for all omegas. I was proud of all of her fight and her determination to get this change done. She was a remarkable person. She had such inner strength and even when she could've taken the easy path, she stood for what she believed in. She really grew into a more confident and slightly less fearful person with the help of Pack Lucas. She was an extremely powerful and amazing character.

This is an amazing series. The books are in depth and informative, but they flow so smoothly that you breeze right through them. This is a page turner and I barely put it down. Trust me you will not regret starting this series.

I devoured book 1 in this series, Runaway Omega, and when Resa was introduced in that book I absolutely knew I needed her story! So when I found out that was the FMC for this book, I could not get my hands on it fast enough!

We see Resa escape from her captors and seek safety, never knowing the pack that she finds has actually been searching for her. This poor omega has been through so much, but is so freaking strong. She puts her own self on the back burner for the good of society and bettering the world for her baby.

And these men are perfect. They support her no matter what she needs and prove her theory of alphas wrong every step of the way. Though the charming beta quickly stole my heart, Vaughn was such a witty comedian throughout this healing journey. Harrison the ever steady leader and his puzzle scenes were so heartwarming. And Blaine. Our broken boy. He tugged at my heart so much, but Resa was his saving grace as much as he was hers.

And while this was on the lower end of spice for an omegaverse and why choose story, I absolutely commend this author for taking the time to really give these characters the proper time in their journeys to heal instead of just jumping into bed. The care taken to plan out this story didn’t go unnoticed and I feel like that made it more emotionally impactful.

If you love angst, heroines in danger, alpha men (whether truly alphas or not) that will do anything for their omega and truly healing stories - I highly recommend this series!! And I’ll be waiting with bated breath for book 3!

My biggest issue with this book was the fmc. She is pregnant but I found it really difficult to read about a woman who is pregnant and doesn't really have any regard for her baby. She is completely detached. She has a fear of doctors so even though she has been beaten and fell out of a tree she refuses to see one even to make sure the baby is okay? And then it seems like the baby is only mentioned when it is convenient (or inconvenient like when she starts to bleed?).

Also she is just sooo lost in her hate. "I know how the world work. The only good alpha is a dead alpha." Even though the mmcs continuously are proving that thought to be wrong. She is sooo freaking high on her horse she won't even consider what is right in front of her and by page 304... yeah it was getting annoying. She is literally determined to kill ALL alphas.. Like.. really girl? You're just one person.

Also this book is just unnecessarily long.. I feel like it's just a lot of the same arguments over and over again and frankly.. I'm bored. As soon as something exciting was going to happen and we were going to get some answers there is shooting and it all gets put on the backburner again... Having an annoying fmc only made that worse.

I have some very conflicted feelings about this story. I kept going back & forth on how high I wanted to rate it. I liked it but I feel like it definitely could’ve been shorter-it’s nearly 600 pages long & some of the stuff felt a little dragged out to me. I absolutely loved the characters. I really liked Blaine but I didn’t like how long it took for him to open up/be more comfortable with his scars. Ik that might sound bad but I think that was also a topic that was dragged out. It was made very clear he had image issues, rightfully so, but he didn’t really get over anything until the end of the book.

Another thing that bothered me is that she’s pregnant but the baby isn’t really included in the story. Her bump is brought up etc. but there’s no talk of the baby, no scenes of them prepping for the baby supplies wise (clothes, diapers, etc.) The only glimpse we really get is when all the guys read the pregnancy book & them putting a nursery together for her -which is at the very end 😕. It didn’t really feel like she was pregnant at all to me in some parts tbh.

I really wanted to love this book but those were some things I couldn’t get past. I am looking forward to Della’s though.

Ember L Nicole has done it again. Resa’s story was everything I expected it to be after that first glimpse of her in Runaway Omega. When we first met her she was so courageous, and despite being held captive next to Everleigh, she tried to encourage her and talk back to their captors.

This book sees her a captive once again, but her tenacity means she has a plan to escape, which unknowingly leads her to her pack. Vaughn, Garrison and Blaine were exactly who Resa needed. They set aside their need for their scent matched omega and instead chose to empower her by teaching her to fight and providing her with the tools she needed to survive. I loved how devoted they were to her and her baby.

Resa was a fierce FMC, and I loved that she didn’t fall into insta-lust with the pack. Her healing was a journey and her acceptance of the willingness of Pack Lucas to always be there for her made this an emotional read. For all the trauma that she suffered through, she still wanted to make a change in society and by the end of the book she did just that.

The author once again proves that her books are an auto-buy for me. I loved the hint of the next book’s character and if it’s who I think it is she’ll end up with, then I can’t wait to read it.

super good read!

10/10 perfect level of spice (though I wish there was more) good vibes all around.
I liked how she is gifted with a knife, develops a fancy apply juice addiction (due to pregnancy) and how her pack truly shows her what being loved by an alpha really means. I loved the story about the pink flamingo floaty and how the build up to their epic steamy romance peaks so beautifully. I liked how she trusted the beta first and really showed him that she loved him. That he wasn’t second choice. I liked how she learned self defense with them and their sweaty steamy moments together were spot on, really made me smile, gasp out loud and giddy dance in my chair. Their banter, the overall story just really made a difference. The fact that they turned the pool house into her own omega territory, they made a nursery for her and that they went to her Doctor appointments with her. Just shows how caring and loving they are. Definitely swoon worthy alphas.
I don’t know why this was hit me the way it did but I’m so glad I read it. And will most likely reread it again.

3.5⭐️ rounded up | ARC review

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and I was excited for Resa's book. It was long, 590 pages, and still it felt for me like something was missing from the end. Very low spice, and a verrrrry slow burn. Which makes perfect sense with a story like this! Heavy trigger warnings - the fmc has been through a lot. I enjoyed how the trauma was handled and how the start of the fmcs healing process was shown. I loved Vaughn, the Beta, and liked the alphas too. Resa was a really enjoyable fmc.

That said, I didn't feel like I connected much with any of the characters. I'm unsure if it was a me-thing or just that the writing felt a bit cold at times. That said, I couldn't put this book down. At times I felt a bit bored, especially towards the end, but as a whole I really enjoyed the journey the characters went through and where they ended up.

This was a sweet story, with a dark background. The world is dark but the pack and relationships are fluffy.

This is a honest ARC review.

5 Stars - I loved it!

I just can't get over how much I enjoy the world-building and story-driven romances that Ember Nicole has created! I'll admit when I picked up Book #1 that the cover was a bit silly and I fully expected something that was fluffy and smutty with absolutely no substance. I was dead wrong! Book #2 is even better. Yes, it's a slower burn and there is much less smut (but what smut there is is HOOOOOOOT). However, I find myself more drawn to the story and the characters. I applaud the author for not rushing the development of the romance and sticking to the amazingly crafted story and world she's built. I'd rather have a good plot than pointless steam any day.

I can't wait for Book #3. Ember Nicole has cemented herself as an immediate pre-order author for me!

Check TWs before reading.

This was another story of healing, of overcoming past trauma and learning to trust (and love) Alpha's after being in an awful situation. There's plenty of drama within the pages, and plenty of emotions.

This book is the epitome of slow burn in an omegaverse novel (not something that I would ever think I would say) and at times, it was almost too slow, but I also understand why Resa took her time with her men.

I do feel it was very slow to read in places, but it's a case of you needed every single page to understand Resa's story (even though there were moments where you go "just hurry up with your men").

An overall enjoyable read - excited to see where the rest of the series goes from here.
