The adolescent sons of the Viking Erik the Red -- Leif and Tosti Erikson -- admire the beauty of a teenage girl and the falcon she trains. But when she rejects Leif, Tosti finds that events spin out of his control.

Set in Greenland in the 990s, this tale is the second short story in The World's Edge series. The stories in the series need not be read in order.

I have taken a pledge to not spam readers on Goodreads. I've had discussions with many readers who have been irritated by the proliferation of the over-eager marketing efforts of Goodreads authors, and am concerned about this phenomena is contributing to creating an unwelcoming environment. This can't be good for either readers OR writers. If you are a reader concerned about author spam, please know that you won't be getting any from me. I encourage other writers to join me in making this NO SPAM pledge.

With that in mind, here's my bio:

I love to write (and read!) about Scandinavian history, especially during the early middle ages. Yes, that means vikings.

I grew up in Florida, and have recently returned to the state to live. I used to be a statistician, but now am pursuing writing fiction full-time.

I'm working on several projects concurrently. At World's Edge is a novel about a 15-year-old girl living in tenth century Greenland.

My short story, Tyrker's Tale, is available on Amazon for the Kindle (and can also be read on Kindle for PC, Mac or many smart phones). It's the story of Tyrker, a thrall belonging to Eirik the Red, and how he came to serve Eirik's son Leif.

I always welcome comments or questions about my work.

I liked this short story about Leif Ericson and his brother. The story starts out with Leif infatuated with a neighbor girl who trains falcons. The girl doesn't particularly like him, and he goes away angry. His brother, Tosti, looks up to Leif, but some events happen that cause Tosti to suspect Leif of committing a crime.

The characters are believable, and it's interesting to think about what Leif Ericson's family might have been like. The story does a good job of integrating historical details without being boring.

This is a good follow-up to the first story in the World's Edge Series, which is called .Tyrker's Tale. I'm looking forward to reading the next one

It was decent, although not as much happens in this one as in Tyrker's Tale. This one is told from the perspective of Tosti, brother of Leif and son of Erik the Red. Tosti is enamoured by a falcon owned by a young girl that his brother Leif is interested in. While Leif is in love with the girl, Tosti is only interested in the bird, and longs to see it fly as he imagines what it would be like to be a falcon himself.

As I started this story I was intrigued by it as I read about one boys fascination with a beautiful girl and another boys love of the falcon she raised. He wanted nothing more than to soar with the bird and Robin Ingle made that image become very clear to me through her words. The Hunt is another story of historical fiction that I was totally entertained with. This is the second of The World's Edge Series and equally as good as the first Tyrker's Tale.
