Who is Kimber? Shit, sometimes even I don't know, lmao. However, if I can only say one thing for certain about myself, it's this: I'm real, I don't back down from what I believe, I say what I mean, and I mean what I say. I don't bite my tongue and I never try to hide the ugly parts of who I am... You either love me or hate me, but if you love me... I'll always be loyal, no fucking matter what ;)
I can be called a billon different things—daughter, wife, mother, Registered nurse. I'm a book blogger, book pimp, and a book whore. My two indulgences in life are my two Jack's: Jack Daniel's and Blackjack.
I was born and raised in Louisiana… and No, I do NOT live in a bayou, I actually see the beaches on the gulf coast more than I see a bayou. I started writing poems and short stories very early in my life. I've been a book hoarder since I was eleven years old, but then a couple years ago something wonderful happened! My inner smut whore came to life and I commenced to read anything and everything smut affiliated. When reading wasn't enough anymore and I noticed that so many of the authors of my favorite genres were indie authors and their books weren't getting the exposure their work deserved, I turned it into a mission, starting my own blog, buying their books and reading them one by one. I then wrote my reviews for my blog and didn't hold back in writing them (Hell yeah those motherfuckers a profanity laden). I've never done a single thing in my life half-ass. I always go all in. After the success of my Blog, I was ready to finally take the plunge and see if I could write a book that was worth a damn. I'm a Southern girl to my core, a self-proclaimed smut whore, and I can't believe I now have over ten books on Amazon, much less that I did it: I’m an author, but honestly… I don’t believe the rumors, lol. I don’t feel like a kickass bitch spittin’ out lyrics, or stories, like a motherfuckin’ rockstar.
Tattooed across my ribs are the words I have always lived by: 'Aut viam inveniam aut faciam tibi.' Latin for: If I cannot find a way, I will make my own.
If you want to contact me, give me a shout out at 3am because my story just decimated your work day potential, or hell if you want to stalk me (I’ve met some of my BFF’s that way, don’t judge a stalker, they are awesome, fun, kickass bitches) follow me on these links:

Book – A Woman Gone Mad
Author – Kimber S. Dawn
Publication Date – January 2, 2014
Type – Stand Alone
Genre – Romance
Rating – 4 1/2 out of 5 Stars

UPDATED REVIEW
After Kimber read my review and saw that I had questions still left over from reading the book....she was very thoughtful and left me this comment....

"I never gave Michael's reason for the abrupt break up because Michael, like any boy you once gave your heart to, never explained. We don't always get answers in life, sometimes we are made to close a chapter with ends left untied and questions unanswered. However, that makes theat closed chapter of our life no more or less heartbreaking than all the other closed chapters that have led us to where we are today.

Second, I have no idea why my Daddy went after "Leo" like that. Other than the fact that I had just turned 15, not 16 and my dad was in a fit of rage after learning his baby girl lost her virtue in a ratty airport motel. I hate that it sounded over the top, because it was word for word verbatim of what happened thirty minutes before my dad came barreling into my room when I was watching Dazed and Confused, lolol. Thank you so much for your review sweetness! I♥ it Carol! You totally kick ass girlie XOXO~Kimber"

I get it....and now since my mind is clear....I am bumping my review up to 4 1/2 stars (I still had to take off that 1/2 star because I am seriously gonna hunt down Michael and torture him until he tells me the reasons behind the sudden break-up - that fucking preppy asshole.)

Review
A very emotionally draining book – this had me unable to function for hours after finishing. There were so many times while reading, I kept thinking to myself “Damn, is she writing about me?”  It was so easy to connect with Lillian and the journey she made through life just to continually get burned and fall deeper into a state of depression.  I’ve been there, you’ve been there….we all have been there.  I think that is the main reason for this book sucking me in to a point where I just couldn’t stop.

I yelled at Lillian….I tried to give her advice….I tried to shut Lilith up and bring back Lilly; the only thing wanting was happiness for this poor girl.  She didn’t listen to me, hence the deeper depression she fell in to until suddenly enough was enough.

Why did I start out with 4 ½ stars and lower it to 4?  There were questions left unanswered that plagued me for days – I wanted to know more detail into her mental state, or what the hell was the reason behind Michael’s break-up?

There is also the reason of stretching over the top of believability – it was the reasoning of Leo’s disappearance from Lillian’s life when she was a teenager.  I can’t go into detail without giving away a major spoiler to the story.  But if you have read the book – you will know exactly where I’m coming from.

Re-Cap
This is the hard part because I don’t want to reveal too much of the story in case of giving away too many spoilers.

I think I will try this…..We start sometime in the present with Lillian battling voices in head and plummeting further into oblivion. We wonder what the hell happened to this woman to bring her to this state of mental incapacity.

Switch now to past – and we follow the happiness of Lillian as she meets her first true love (or so she thinks) only to have her heart smashed.  Just as she starts to make a recovery from heart break she meets another questionable guy who has the capacity of totally annihilating her reason for living.  She falls and falls fast – only to end up alone again.

We continue to travel down Lillian’s road to depression where she battles extreme joy, painful memories, isolation and so many other emotions that would have me reaching for the first bottle of pills to drown out the “white noise” of life.

What will happen in the end?  Who will Lillian end up with or will she even be victorious in in her struggle for sanity?

Wrap Up
Gripping, powerful book that will have you reaching for the tissues to dry those teary eyes, and if you have ever suffered from depression brought on by one debilitating consequence after another, then this book will stun you!

*******3.5 "PICKY" STARS********

Damn, I'm never been so conflicted over a review simply because I thought the author was cool as hell .... seriously, this chic is the bomb. I'd say I want to be her friend**hint-hint** but that sounds too much like brown nosing and homey don't play that. Fuck! Where was I? Oh'yeah.... The dialogue she comes up with had me cracking up, scratching my head, crying and sometimes thinking "Damn, did I write this book?"! .. BUT that's not what reviews are about, right? Therefore, even though I rate her fucking fabulous vocabulary 5 stars --->with the exception of the overused term "baby"(Yes, I'm picky...shoot me!) her story's a solid 4 stars **No fluff, thank the LORT!** I found the storyline to be slightly cramped......which sounds crazy, since I'm always complaining about how boring/ blah my current read is, BUT there was so much storyline given that it left this reader with many unanswered questions ... causing my rating to drop. DO NOT OPEN UNLESS YOU READ THE BOOK

....I'm sure most readers will accept what's given to them and be on their merry 5 star rating way(I envy you) or use their powers of interpretation, unfortunately I was not given that superpower so I need the author to spell. shit. out. for. me..

Anyway, this story is like one big juicy seedless watermelon ... Damn, that's terrible analogy but that's all I can come up with at the moment.. Folks, grab a box of tissues, bottle of tequila, your favorite chocolate bar and enjoy this memorable story.... then message me the damn answers to my questions.. PLEASE !!!

Kimber S. Dawn, your a fucking Rockstar and I look forward to reading more of your work..

3.5--Too Many Plot Holes--Stars!!!

Warning: May contain mild spoilers

I am told that this is based on true events...I don't know whether that means loosely or verbatim. There were things I liked and things I didn't.

The story was told in the heroine, Lil's POV. It's almost like a journey through her life. Her trials and tribulations. The pain she experienced. The loss. The heartache. And it was in abundance.

Poor Lil was beat down and then kicked over and over again. And I almost felt like it was too much. Too OTT. Too much drama. This is just my opinion...as far as my reading experience went. Doesn't mean all that Lil went through didn't happen in real life...I just thought it was too much for one book.

The story follows Lil starting in middle school where she meets and falls in love with Michael. That whole situation left me with a big 'ole

This was a continuing pattern....every character seemed to have a personality transplant.

Once Lil moves on from Michael she meets Leo. They spend a summer together inseparable. Now Leo was cray-cray. Planting babies in a 16 year old. Taking her to seedy motels. And then

Disappears. And I figured it had something to do with . And don't even get me started on him.

Leo leaves Lil completely shattered. Just as she's moving on from him, Lill finds Nick. Now Lil is in high school. Nick has been in love with her since elementary school. They too have an all consuming love affair only to end in disaster.

And again I question the personality transplant and why Nick did what he did. It just wasn't fitting of his character up to that point.

Throughout the book I wanted to shake everyone. Wake the fuck up. Use your words. Have a conversation. Try to get some help.

It's apparent throughout the book who Lil's true love is. And even when Lil gets a second chance at love it's not hearts and flowers.

Throughout Lil's journey she has alter personalities/egos in her head--Lilly and Lillian. Good vs. Evil. Warring with the decisions she makes and the things that she experiences. I found the voices confusing at times.

Did Lil actually have a mental illness/disorder? It's never really addressed. So many times, I just wanted Lil to get help. She did experience so much pain in her life. And that's one of the things I did like. A lot of what Lil went through was real. Things that a lot of us have gone through or know someone that has gone through.

This was a very emotional, almost depressing read. Yet at the same time, the author's writing style was filled with humor. And while the happy moments were few and far between, they were sexy and filled with an intense love.

A few final thoughts....

Allen:

This broke my heart.

Wes:

This was another plot hole for me.

Lil:

The timelines were also confusing. At times I couldn't track how old people were when things were happening, etc.

Because of this and the plot holes, I just can't rate it any higher. But I did like it, I just didn't love it. It was an emotionally draining read, but a potentially very real read.

I am hoping maybe some of the plot holes will be cleared in the next book which is from Leo's POV/or Leo's story.

CUT MY HEART INTO PIECES!
I'll admit it, I wasn't sure what to think when I first started reading. It wasn't a drag me in to the story... AT FIRST, BUT!
Each chapter drew me in further until I was so absorbed that I couldn't stop. No. Not until My heart was cut out and fed back to me. I'll admit it. I broke the ef down and cried. Washed the makeup off because I could no longer dab the tears away. It was the realism, knowing the events that made me cry were real and true. And then to have to deal with another blow, and another? I wanted to take Lil' under my wings and find the beautiful HEA she deserves.

There are some crazy times, some crazy teen moments I could totally relate to. Midlife changes I could relate to and pain I could relate to, but on some levels, I'm not sure if I could deal with some of the most tragic moments. I certainly was crushed with the pain of knowing and dealing with what Lil' had to deal with. Life is not fair. Not in the least. Life can be cruel, it can bring us to the lowest depths and to a point we feel we cannot come back and give up, but it's all of those things that can make us a stronger person.

This isn't a story where you can complain (though people will find a way to complain about anything that is nothing) about the characters, not when it's based on a true story. And not when you run with the heroine and know her pain, feel her pain right with her. It's the happy moments that took away a little of the heartache I felt and I really want more of Lillian's future.

I absolutely LOVED this story. LOVED it. It drew every emotion out of me and I love that. This is a story for those who can take a beating, who can handle the gritty and the emotional pitfalls. It's not a story for the weak, but more for those who can handle descriptive writing and more than a PG sex scene.

LOVED A Woman Gone Mad! Can't wait to have a paperback copy :b

5 Stars clearly isn't enough for this book. What I can say is this needs to be on EVERY TBR list on Goodreads and you can thank me after you read it. I knew this was gonna be an Epic fucking debut, I knew it, but I didn't know it was gonna Fucking knock me off my ASS and I got a BIG ASS!!!

I felt this in my heart like I can't even fuckin articulate right now. This didn't create a book hangover but a damn fucking book black out NOTHING I have read is of this magnitude, stature, or any other descriptive words that scream this is a FUCKING MASTERPIECE! Anyone that knows me will tell you that I'm not one to sugar coat or blow smoke up your ASS so I'm not just being the supportive friend here! Okay Okay now that I have calmed the Fuck down let me tell you what this book is about.

This is a story based on true events of a journey through the life of very determined, strong young woman. It will take you back through your teenage years. You will reminisce on how things in your life at that age played out. It may even strike a nerve or two I’m just sayin. The love and heartbreak and up and down rollercoaster of life as a teenager will be prominent, while making your way through Lillian Shaw’s life. The realization of adulthood and responsibility come rolling through like a freight train. You will feel absolutely elated when it seems like her knight in shining amour has finally come to rescue her from the pain and anguish she has endured up to that point. Then you will continue to feel the knicks and cracks in her heart that will eventually break and shatter into a million pieces. After you compose yourself from the blubbering FUGLY crying mess that you have become, hope sets in as you continue. Kimber S. Dawn was dead serious when she said forget everything you have been told about fairytales. This puts your comfort level to the test not like a little pop quiz but a final exam. Just watch the trailer! HOWEVER, don’t let it scare you off you will be pleasantly pleased I promise you. This will be the book that reaches out and touches your soul, one of the few that make an impact in your life. Kimber’s writing style will make you will laugh, cry, be swooned, reminisce, and laugh and cry some more. Come on, Have I ever steered you wrong? Hell No!!! Well ok then what Hell are you waiting for get your cute little ass over here and one click this life changing story.

"Every heartbreak a woman experiences throughout her life leaves a scar behind, and these scars never fully heal. The thousands of shattered pieces that remain of a woman’s heart are nothing more than battered pieces of scarred tissue that still function as a vital organ to keep her alive."

There are not many times where I can say I start reading a book and im hooked, not because it's good but because I want to see how wrong things can really go.

Whilst reading this mad woman's sad excuse for a life, I found that any book that can stir up so many feelings in me is worth at least a 4 star....

The story is the diary of Lily....

It starts of from present day 2016 and then the story takes us back to when she was a kid.
Everything that happened in her life to get her to this point.

A sweet young girl who was best friends with her brother....
The sweet girl grows up a little and begins noticing guys.

Her first boyfriend....
First love....
First heartbreak...

Yeah we all have those as kids and it's funny how we don't realize how shit like that sets the course of your life....

So Lily has these voices in her head that she claims tells her what to do...

That little subconscious voice that makes a good girl a bad girl...

Loving Leo, loosing her virginity in a motel room...
Then hurting again when Leo makes promises then leaves her...

See this is life... We all get hurt when we kids, more often then not the one to hurt us the most will always be 'The great Love'
The hurt that you will forever remember...

After this Lily will never be the same again...

Strings of flings, sex and a whole lot of shit we wallow in Lilys self pity with her like crazed maniacs just to see what happens next.

Lily is a mad woman, and she makes us crazy....

Then by some miracle through all her sluttish ways, she's lucky to find a guy who loves her for who she is. Skank and all. A handsome, sweet, wealthy, smart man Nick...

Now this has the part where a normal person would count their blessings to find love...

Then doubt it...
But that's just the thing isn't it, when you get over the infatuation and again get yet another shock of life, you start doubting instead of counting your blessings.

The voices in Lilys head get louder after this... And this is the beginning of the end.

It's not good enough to have a handsome husband who would kiss the ground you walk on...
Somewhere after a few years of marriage you start doubting it, pulling away and finding fault.
Always looking for something.... Something more... Chasing Ghosts maybe?

Yep!!!! Then comes the pity party...

Fuck me this woman made me want to strangle her.

Everyone at some stage thinks their lives are shit so does that mean we must give up?

Emotionally check out if your marriage.

Mad.... There is so much more and the cowards way out.

For the record, Lily hate you, you selfish bitch! I don't know what kind of person can do the shit she did and still look herself in the mirror everyday!

There are many holes in the storyline so if you can deal with that and a whole bunch of rage, this really isn't a bad book.

I am still sitting with all my WHY WHY WHY questions. Way too much questions that I needed answers.

 photo giphy-2-1.gif

It was brilliant read, well- written and we certainly will know few repeated words are our author's favourite.
This book was written based on real life events which makes it really brilliant. Reading about life of a girl named Lilian Shaw and her struggle made me feel sorry for her and I was kinda reeling.

LEO, on the other hand, I was rooting of him <3 I am such a sucker for bad boys like him. I can't wait for more of LEO!!!

A train wreck read, that it was. Well done, Kimber!!!

5 Three Dog Night's, "Momma Told Me Not To Come Again"

Trailer to accompany this book!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IOavX...

I feel so privileged that I received an arc for this book, the story just blew me away!!

All good things must come to an end eventually!!

Lillian's story is raw, tragic, emotional, inspirational, a truly gritty story inspired by true events, it will have you on a roller coaster of craziness that is Lillian's life..This book will leave your emotions reeling even when you've read that last page..This is not a "Fairy Tale" love story, so prepare yourself now!!

"When I'm alone that's when all the bad shit happens."

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Not everyone gets a happy ending, and no one knows this better than Lillian Shaw..Blow after blow Lillian tries her damnedest to stay optimistic..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

For as long as Lillian can remember she has been on a search for her sole mate which went as far back as kindergarten..That searching need slowly morphed into obsession..

I guess things really started to look up for Lillian when Leo came into her life..She thought he'd never noticed her, but how wrong could she be!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

"Oh, baby I've looked. Fuck I've been watching you with your long blond hair down your back, flittin' around here wearing those fuckin sexy daisy dukes, and those fine as hell short, somehow long looking tanned legs all summer long, Lil. Just not looking when you know it."

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Just when I'm carried away on Lillian's and Leo's romance just like that it ended, no warning, one minute he's there and then the next he's gone..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I guess this is where the cracks that are holding Lillian together start to open up more..

Darkness and Depression become her constant companion, her Refuge

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Then along comes Nicolas, things start looking up, then just like everything in Lillian's life they drastically take a turn for the worst, this is where my heart was split open..

"There will never be another option besides Nick in my life, he will never break my heart, He will never leave me lost, alone or confused, and he will never use me up. He will build me, strengthen me, help me grow, he will give me happily ever after."

God how wrong was the above statement to be..He wasn't the right fit, or even strong enough to be her Knight In Shining Armour..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I'm going to leave this review here, mainly because I've posted a few teasers and the fact that I don't want to reveal any spoilers..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Starts humming: Goo Goo Dolls, "Black Balloon"

This is going to be a book that will stay in my mind for days, weeks, months to come, a book I will go back and reflect on and read again..

3.5 - This bitch is crazy stars

The whole time I read this book I kept thinking with regards to Lil:

 photo tumblr_me7qmbQCKa1rrpsd7_zpsb62fa02b.gif

I mean she has these multiple slut vs good girl personalities. Some parts of this book were a little confusing but overall I enjoyed reading it. It saddened me how hard of a life Lil had and how much shit she had to deal with. This book spans over twenty years too so keep that in mind. What is also weird is growing up in small town Louisiana I have seen half of the same shit she went through. And I did enjoy the writing on this book. I laughed numerous times and felt some flashbacks. I remember listening to Boyz II Men and I remember my sister walking down the aisle to Butterfly Kisses and my dad boohooing.

That being said I have many thoughts regarding this book.... SPOILERS SPOILERS SO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

I have no idea what happened with Michael. Was he secretly gay? Was he mad that she wouldn't do it with him?

What was the deal with Wesley? Was he there for her to learn and experiment? Did she even really like him or was he just there?

shrug photo NPH-SHRUG_zpsb389e23e.gif

Leo creeped me out a little bit....Ok a lot...I mean he was trying to get her pregnant at 16.

 photo tumblr_lrszafBNTG1qlfe10o1_500_zpscf9da4cc.gif

I did realize she never had the same relationship with anyone else since she didn't get closure with their relationship. You know its true love when he cleans blood off the motel wall for you. Right?

 photo 4613103_zps3a950ca4.gif

And then there was Clark.....Clark was a filler rebound love to distract her from Leo...But it didn't work very well.

no photo tumblr_ml2q0zohC61r0crhno1_400_zps40fac310.gif

How ironic she didn't want Leo knocking her up considering she got knocked up at 18, by Nick. The one good thing is they actually had a relationship and he loved her

 photo andyreaction_zpse85dcc92.gif

I loved loved loved Nick...But then he did a complete 180. So sad. I'm wasn't surprised though that Lil treated him like shit and he did everything for her.

 photo When-you-comment-on-someones-facebook-status-and-they-dont-like-your-comment_zps0ae7bef8.gif

And then she saw Leo again...I can't say I was surprised. Am I the only one who was a little creeped out that he has been basically stalking and keeping tabs on her the whole time? He did truly love her though and I'm glad he made something of himself.

nodding photo tumblr_inline_mfb4nkuUbU1r7j4bg_zps173f9877.gif

I felt that Lillian was selfish and that was part of her problem. Almost to the point that I hated her character. But then again, that's how she was written.

angry photo annasophia-robb-the-carrie-diaries-frustrated-funny_zpscd53ddf5.gif

And Allen....Awww I loved Allen's character. He was a great little brother!

love photo tumblr_mcn2d6HuFy1rp8ohq_zpsdfedec50.gif

And finally at the end my heart broke for Lil...

I am highly anticipating what happens in the next book!

First things first I legally have to say this:

**I received this awesome, amazing, wonderfully fucked up, mind trip of a book for free in exchange for my review that will by no means do it justice.**

There are not enough stars in the book rating world to give A Woman Gone Mad. This book drove me mad from the second I saw the first teaser on facebook. I clung to that, searched out Kimber's author page and I have officially became a raving mad lunatic of a fan girl. I have read this book 2x now in just a few days, learned how to make teasers because I love this book so damn much, and could prob read it everyday for the rest of my life and I would be okay with that. This book is top shelf bitches and that is where it will remain until the day I die. If I could give it a billion gazillion trillion fucking stars I would.

I started this book thinking that Lillian was living a semi decent existence in a marriage when her long lost love comes slamming back into her life. Boy was I was mistaken.
AWGM starts off with Lillian waking up in a hotel room lost to the world, lost to herself, and dealing with the voices that she has listened to throughout her entire life. I really liked being able to hear what they had to say to her. Lillian's voices seem to be broken pieces of herself that she shoves into the farthest recesses of her mind so as to not deal with those aspects of herself. At this point you see Lillian at her worst and the book then does a complete 180 and brings you back to the earlier years of her life. From here you get to experience every major life event with her as you make the trip down timeline lane to the present day time at the end. You get to follow along and watch Lillian's slow demise that she brings upon herself.
I'm not gonna talk about every single thing that happened in this story. Buy the book and find out for yourself. You will hate me and love me for recommending this book.
But I will say this. I fucking love Kimber and her style of writing. She took me through this story holding my hand as I experienced this fucked up roller coaster of emotions. She makes you laugh, she makes you cry, she makes you feel so desolate and broken that you never feel like you will find the right glue to put your ass back together. Then when you least expect it, she picks you up, breathes life back into the lungs you thought were broken by showing you love and starts piecing those shards you thought were lost forever back into place. That's all before ripping you apart again. I connected so much with this story on a personal level that it's days later and I am still experiencing the fucking agony of what she put me through. I don't think I will EVER get over this book. You know what, I'm okay with that because I will never find another book like it and I don't want to.

Second of all - when I started this at 1030pm tonight, I did not expect to be up still, at 3AM!!!! And I just finished.

This book is amazing. No, really, amazing. This woman is an inspiration.

Don't get me wrong, you will start this book thinking she is freaking crazy, and ya know? She might be. Seriously.... Like MP disorder or something. Especially when you meet Lilith....

But besides that, KEEP YOUR TISSUES HANDY AFTER 50% on your kindle!

No cliff hanger, thank god, but awful, crazy, nasty, depressive, awful sadness....

"Every heartbreak a woman experiences throughout her life leaves a scar behind, and those scars never fully heal. The thousands of shattered pieces that remain of woman's heart is nothing more than a battered piece of scarred tissue that still functions as a vital organ to keep us alive"

This is NOT for the faint of heart, it is not for those who believe that bad things come to those who deserve it... Because the reality is? Life sucks and we either learn how to deal, or we don't.

I just want to talk, gab, scream and cry about this book to anyone who will read it.

It's incredibly hot, in the beginning Lil will annoy the hell out of you, but after awhile you'll see the truth, something awful will happen and you'll cry, then more awfulness happens and you'll cry even more, and then you'll be left just sobbing into your pillow..... True story, speaking from experience here and nearly 4am!

So anyways, enough ranting, and I'll leave you will one life, eye-opening quote, that everyone I'm sure knows by heart:

"Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil."

Here is the book commercial!!!!

Dear author: you are completely amazing. Thank you for sharing your story and please know that I will never, ever forget this story, I will continuously re-read it, shout out to the heavens that every woman read this tale, and I will learn to live my life to the fullest, because I've learned from you that tomorrow is not promised and life will never be perfect, bad things will happen, but you will make it out stronger when you overcome the un-overcomeable. I appreciate you, this book and... Just wow. Thank you.

I was given this book by the author in exchange for a honest review! So here you go... This book has many layers to it. What I mean by that is, it can and will appeal to many different types of people. There were some parts more than others that I related too, as I'm sure most of you as readers will too. I will warn you this some parts are not easy to read, especially if you have been through or experienced the same issues. Saying that I will also say it is well worth it too continue on. You can tell the author put her heart and soul in this book. I normally don't cry in books and I cried like a baby a couple times! Lol!
BABY SPOILERS LOL
There's this girl Lil who seems to have fate working against her from a very young age. She falls in love with a boy only to be broken hearted the trend continues. Then she finds her soul mate. For him only to be ripped from her! When she finally thinks things are going to be going good, what happens? The oh so dreaded curse she seems to have! So she is back to square one! Then if all be damn if her night and shining armor shouldn't appear again! Right?! Or is It wrong?! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! It may be a roller coaster of emotions, but it was one hell of a ride!!! Great job Kimber!

A Woman Gone Mad
5+ stars
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
How do I even begin with Lil's story? The author ripped my soul out, stomped on it, and then did a little bit more ripping at my heart. Damned if this isn't one of those stories that affected the core of my being--the “me” the only a very select few people know.
Enter Lilith. For the sake of the book, Lilith is the heart of Lil, or her voice. Her true persona. I think that in order to truly grasp this book and have an emotional gut check, you need to have that Lilith living inside. I guess I am one of those people. Life has chewed me up and spit me out. I connected to this story on a personal level in many ways, and feel like the author has taken what many of us are unable to say and put into words. And I thank her for that.
There were a couple of times that I was unsure if I was going to be able to finish just based on the emotions that the book pulled out of me.
In the end, I think that it is a gentle reminder of true love, and honest to goodness, loving the one you are truly meant to be with.

ARC received author for an honest review at: www.perusingprincesses.com

My emotions are so raw that I don't know if I'm even capable of articulating a review. However, I feel the need to write something - if anything, to expel my thoughts and to help ease the myriad of emotions that are pouring through me right now.

My poor heart. I believe it may never recover!

My current mantra is 'What the fuck did I just read?' Trust me when I say this story hits seriously high on the angst richter scale!

Told in memoir form we follow the story of Lillian Shaw, the innocent and popular school girl with a big heart, as she steps out from the confines of a loving childhood into the complex world of puberty and beyond. We witness first hand how she goes from a beautiful child to a broken and emotionally scarred woman after enduring more than her fair share of insufferable heartache... and all in the name of love. To put it simply, her life is one giant clusterfuck after another!

Life dealt her a hand that she had no choice but to play. Her only coping mechanism and refuge came in Lilly, her alter-ago, a.k.a the 'other' voice. Although, her sanity was questionable throughout most of this book, I found her resilience and strength through her hardships most inspiring...that is until she reached the point of no return. Her actions in these dark times tore my heart into a million tiny pieces, as the downward spiral finally took its toll.

I'm not saying Lillian didn't bring some of these things on herself. Her serious lack of filter from brain to mouth was laugh out loud genius at times, and she did have a tendency to push people at arms length when feeling overwhelmed. I say this with all good intentions but if she could manifest through the words of the written page, I have no doubt she would gladly smack this author in the face for everything she put her through. My goodness, I can't tell you how many times my eyes welled with tears while reading Lillian' s tale. I read some parts of this story curled in the foetal position, my kindle curled to my chest. Yeah, no shit!

I can't go into a full overview because this is a journey that you need to take on your own. A Woman Gone Mad isn't just a school/college romance where boy meets girl, falls in love, girl gets hurt, girl moves on and lives happily ever after...this book is the total opposite! It's a full on, real life experience read that stems over the course of 20 years. It tells us that life, at times, can be hard and cruel, yet it can also be beautiful. Life can throw you a curve ball and rock your world, knocking it off its axis, but what is important is how you deal with it. Lillian wasn't an angel, she made mistakes and in the process distanced herself from the ones she loved. Besides the close connection to her Brother and Best Friend, Allen, Lillian had never connected to another. Not until him. What is it to find your soul mate to then lose him overnight? To simply disappear into thin air, never to be seen again? For 20 years she has been plagued by the memory of him, she can still see his face, hear his voice, remember his scent.

...Leo. <3

As far as the writing goes, it was laden with grammatical mistakes and some bad sentence structuring. The flow was, at times, erratic and the overuse of the word 'baby' grated a little, but in all fairness to the author, I received an ARC that was still in need of editing and formatting so I'm not going to judge my review based on this, but rather praise Kimber S. Dawn in delivering an unforgettable story of one woman's plight to find her happily ever after, in a world where fairy tales cease to exist.

The writing gets a 3, the story and how it kept me hooked from the 3rd chapter in, gets a 4.5. This is a commendable effort, I just wish my copy was edited by a pro before distribution. My advice to those brave enough: Put your big girl pants on and invest in a mansize box of tissues because you're gonna need them!

I give this book 5 stars ( I would give more If I could)
I was given this book in exchange for a honest review.
This book was so well written it was like you were walking in Lil's shoes. This book tore me up inside and out. It brings you up with happy moments only to crash you down with the bad. And let me tell you the bad sucks the big one. I cried through most of this book in part because some of the stuff really home for me and the author does a wonderful job getting those feelings on paper. This is a book has a lot of really life problem in it so everyone can relate to something in it. (I think most people will relate to a lot) It brings out a lot of emotion in a person as i said before i cried through most of this book but I also yelled and punched my chair shaking my head saying WHY!!! WHY IS THIS ALL HAPPENING TO HER!!! My kids and husband where looking at me like i was nuts but this book is so good it got that big of a reaction from me. So if you are looking for a book that will change you life and maybe make you feel like your not alone with feelings to certain thing then this book is for you. If you want a book that will in some ways always stay with you then this book is for you.

************Spoiler*************
I for one just want to say (and bare with me) WHAT THE HELL WHERE LIL'S PARENTS THINKING!!!! I mean come on your daughter is depressed and not herself after she loses Leo the first time why didn't they get her the help that she needed then. Didn't they know that in her own way she was crying out for help. I have been there with the depression, eating disorders and drugs I'm not proud of that time in my life but I have family to help me and it killed me that Lil didn't have that. In my eyes so many people let Lil down that its no surprise she did the things she did. Nick oh Nick I really liked you but by the end of the book I wanted to beat the ever loving shit out of you. He told her that he would be there for her no matter what and in the end he was just like everyone else that let her down. The only person that was there for her in the end was Leo yes it took time for him to get there and he made mistake after mistake but we're all human and make mistakes . Leo is the hero of this story the knight in shining armor. He did the one thing no one else did he fought for and against her. That is what she needed all a long someone that would love her and push her to do what she needed to heal herself. Ok i think im done now lol I love this book and i know you will to so go out and get your self a copy like right now!

I'm giving this book 3 stars because it definitely captivated me, not to mention made me laugh...a lot.

Although, I have to be honest, there were so many distractions due to poor editing, that I'm actually a little surprised I'm the first person talking about it. I can deal with the occasional misspelling and/or incorrect word, but when there are several along with sentences that don't even begin with a capital letter, the story begins losing it's credibility. At least it did for me.

Now let's talk about the heroine, "Lil." I liked her. I thought she was hilarious with a chip-on-her-shoulder bitchy edge. Believe me, she was a blast to behold. Now, let me talk about her alter egos or should we call them, "the voices in Lil's head", Lilith and Lilly. They were a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde mix of snarky versus June Clever. They would have worked, too had the reader been shown their banter more clearly. I gotta say, I was confused more than I'd care to admit when one of them was talking, because, just adding quotes to dialogue didn't do it for me. Italics for them specifically would have worked much better.

Let's move on to Lil's love interests. I know this is only fiction, but I did read somewhere that this particular story was based on some of the author's real life occurrences. That being said, I admit doing an eye-roll when each and every one of Lil's suitors was tall, built like a god and drop dead gorgeous. However, the cliche didn't stop there. The sex was spectacular with each of them which made me wonder, WHO really was the guy for Lil? I couldn't get a strong connection to one in particular since they were all insanely amazing.

I must preface that the sex scenes were written extremely well...ahem, *cough* yes, extremely well!!

So, did I like the story? Yes...I did. I just wish the editing had been better, because I know I would have enjoyed the story even more.

I finally got my copy, Thank you Kimber Dawn! <3

I CAN'T RATE OR REVIEW RIGHT NOW!

Ok, I'm back!!! WOAH!!!!
This is not a romance by any means, take the author's warning seriously!!!
I know this was based on true events, with that being said, the story did read like a biography. And there were times I felt like the story wasn't realistic.
WITH THAT ALSO BEING SAID, I also felt like the author took a page out of my life story and wrote about it, so who am I to say what's realistic, some parts of the story cut me deep, I felt the pain deep in my soul.
Depression, I think, was the main focus here, and if I have to say so myself, Kimber hit the nail on the head!!
This story really will break your heart, I believe that most women have or will go through these types of tragedies in THEIR life, and some never find a Leo to save them!!
We all want our very own prince to take us away and live happily ever after!!!
Then life happens...

Thank you, Kimber Dawn for letting me read this journey. <3

ARC received from author for an honest review

What in the hell did I just read? And then as I was reading, I thought again…"what in the hell am I reading?" I wanted to cry, I felt depressed, felt happiness, then had my heart ripped out again and again! At one point I stopped and read the synopsis again and saw the warning, "This is not a shy and tender fairytale love story. It's a raw, tragic, and gritty story inspired by true events." Ok yes this statement is absolutely on point! This story challenged me and I felt the need to crawl into bed in a fetal position to process my feelings.

A Woman Gone Mad (AWGM)…hmmm is she talking about me? Tell me a woman who has not felt this way. AGWM is an intense read and tells the story of Lillian Hart a/k/a Lil. We also have Lilith, one of Lil's voices. Lil is a woman who has been in love, been hurt, left, disappointed and found love again. She has gone through the cycles of life and at times life throws her a shitty hand. This is a true "feels" type of read. I felt Lil's sadness, her happiness, her times of anxiety, depression and the many other emotions because they were all real. She's experienced love and has been hurt. She has also found her true love and soulmate in Leo. But that love is lost also.

"If you were mine, I swear to God, Lil I would celebrate you everyday like Christmas." ~Leo

Truly Lil's story can be the story of many women. I felt for some of her experiences, but there are also moments in the story I questioned. I didn't agree with all of her decisions and didn't want her to give up. I liked the way Lil spoke to the reader and it made me feel like I knew her on a personal level. I was left with some unanswered questions and some things that weren't resolved.

This story very emotional. It's took me on a roller coaster of emotions that left me drained. It's a real life kind of story about love, loss and the bumps in the road that life throws at you. It's easy to be happy in the good times, but what about the bad times? Well done Kimber S. Dawn!

Very emotional and inspired by true events. When I first started it, I was like wtf is up with this lady but WHOA... It's a hell of a journey. Heartbreaking! The h actually annoyed the hell out of me in the beginning but she was young and we are all a little bit (or a lot) naïve when we are young. Also, some of us have tougher shell around our hearts and minds than others. Her lifes journey begins to leave cracks in her heart (and mind) and depression and darkness take over, it becomes her refuge. And so, we have a Woman gone mad!! She also had no guidance, no voice to help ease her way through life. Lots of mistakes and wtf were you thinking moments but overall a super solid read for me!!

I'm speechless. Yeah I know tell me about it. I'm not sure how to explain this book. It's not your girl meets boy, they fall in love, HEA. Oh No. This is Raw, Emotional, the other side of the rainbow. So realistic. It will rip your heart out. I don't know what else to say but that I need to give this story at least 4.5 Stars. Damn...this is some deep shit!!

Loved the Playlist❤️

WOMAN GONE MAD
Kimber S. Dawn has always been one of my favorite dark authors, so I‘d been meaning to check out more of her books. Unfortunately, this particular book is NOT a good representation of how talented she is.

Basically, this is a story of “Lil” and all of the romantic relationships she has starting from her mid teens. Although the way Dawn tells Lil’s story is entertaining, IMO, each of the relationships end without a clear lesson or explanation of WHY we were taken for a ride through that particular time in Lil’s life. If this was a biography about a person I wanted to know more about, I may have been more interested in her romantic history, but she’s not, and I was constantly struggling not to skim.

The best thing about this book was Lil’s personality. Dawn does a phenomenal job of creating an extremely snarky, witty girl/woman. I loved all of the slang and American jargon! However, I would definitely not recommend this book for those people who aren’t from America or those whose first language is not English.

Review for A Woman Gone Mad by Kimber S. Dawn

This review has been the bane of my existence for the last two days. I have literally started it and deleted it five times. It’s not because I don’t know what to say. It’s not that I can’t find the words of praise that this book deserves, I have those in spades. It IS because I can’t seem to tell you how I feel about this book, how monumentally epic it is without spoiling the ever living shit out of it. So, here I sit at the laptop again… attempting to edit review number FIVE and make this one some type of useable. Maybe a shot of vodka and a handful of Xanax would help?

A Woman Gone Mad (AWGM) is the story of Lillian’s life. Really, what it boils down to is a woman who use to be a girl with a dream… she wanted to fall madly in love and be loved madly in return. Lil’s life doesn’t end up quite like she had expected. If we are honest with ourselves, most of our lives don’t. Life isn’t perfect. Life is messy. Life can give you rainbows and glitter one minute and a shit storm of fucked up the next. AWGM shows you what happens when life happens.

The emotional rollercoaster that this book will take you on is unlike any other. There are so many books out there that will give you a piece of crazy, a bit of smut, a touch of ugly, maybe a few tears, a couple laughs, or a little angst and they are GREAT. I love books with a little of those things… well all of those things laid down, bumped uglies, and had little crazy-smut-ugly-tear-laugh-angst babies. AWGM has it all and not just a little of each. Every. Single. Page. Is FILLED with emotion. Sometimes I would be crying and sniffling while laughing and then BAM I’m ready to dry hump the arm of the couch because DAMN it’s hot.

All of the characters in this book are fully developed and you will like, love, and hate appropriately and without question. When I read that this book was based on true events, I almost *ALMOST* didn’t read it, because let’s face it I’m sooo not a biography or autobiography kind of chic. Real life might be a crazy fucked up mess, but I have a real life of my own and I don’t really want to read about real fucked up, I want fictional fucked up followed with a HEA or something that alludes to a HEA. (Happily Ever After for those of you scratchin’ your heads.) I actually sent the author an email at like 3:30 AM when I finished reading this book (yes, I stayed up ALL night because I COULDN’T FUCKING STOP READING!!) because I HAD to know what parts were “real” and which were dramatically “fictionalized”. When you read it, you will know INSTANTLY which scenes I am talking about… they will coincide with the ugliest tears you have ever cried in your life.

Okay, so I know because I’m a smut whore I normally rave about the BBF potential. It’s totally there, I mean COMPLETELY there. I just don’t want to tell you who, how, what, why, or when… so that part you will just have to read on and trust me that the man-cake is there.

It kills me to rate this book, but since it’s part of the deal, I give it FIVE stars for one of the most emotionally wrecking story I have ever read and FIVE drenched panties because the smut is just… wow. This is a Mommy’s a Book Whore MUST READ! As in GO ONE-CLICK IT NOW!

I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars!
It deserves so much more.

This is the most heart wrenching book I think I have ever read and that is because that's all life is most of the time heartbreak.

I can't even imagine what it's like to go through everything Lil goes through. She has to experience so much heartache that it makes me sick at my stomach.

A woman gone mad is not a fairy tale it is based on the authors real life story.

Life is a Bi*ch..it is not rainbows and butterfly's...you go through loss. Lots and lots of loss. You have your heart shattered at least once. There is happy days but just like always everything good must come to an end.

When u feel like giving up. Try to keep going. Everyone needs someone in there life and in this book that person to save her from her downfall was Leo. He had his faults but he loved her so much it was unreal. If you have someone like that you will be so much happier in life and Lil deserves her HEA she still had a long life ahead of her. I hope the author writes more of her story years down the road. I hope she has had nothing but happiness in the next book because she honestly deserves it.

"Ride this bitch until the wheels fall off" couldn't have came up with a better quote if I tried.

"Every heartbreak a woman experiences throughout her life leaves a scar behind, and these scars never fully heal"

Thank you Kimber S. Dawn for sharing your story with me. I hope you have nothing but happiness from here on out. You deserve it. You are gonna make one hell of a author!

r.i.p. to all the people you lost in this book. Fly high beautiful angels
