Part of Que's Programming Series, this unique text is a compilation of articles by programming authority Michael Abrash, originally published in Programmer's Journal. Packed with programming techniques to help users optimize their use of graphics.
Absolutely made obsolete by the passage of time, but an all-time classic. Before windows, we were stunned by the amazing graphics that games like Wolfenstein 3D manage to squeeze out of our lowly machines. With Abrash's book and a good assembler (Turbo Assembler my tool of choice) it was possible to learn and understand how it was done!
if it weren't for michael abrash john carmack would've never made wolfenstein 3d or doom and gabe newell would've never founded valve and steam would never exist
its a beautiful butterfly effect if you think about it
